#32 The first batch order was 30 composters and all of them had a mistake. | Poonam Bir Kasturi | The Climapreneur Show
I knew there was a need, and I knew that need would come.
And working with compost has really taught me a lot. It satisfies my inner sense of understanding this life, and it's impermanence, and it's regeneration, and it's amazingly connected intelligence.

#31 I realised, if I have to be successful, I have to give it time. | Goutam Surana | The Climapreneur Show
We have conserved more than 35,000 Crore litres of water.
For me the challenge was doing something which was unconventional. Like we, conserving water. So my parents' business was in hardware and you know, construction, and I was talking about not continuing that and I was talking about conserving water. And that too, in a new city with a totally new set of clients. Totally the business model itself was very different.

#30 Everyday is awful and Everyday is amazing | Shaan Lalwani | The Climapreneur Show
But I'll be honest, at that moment, it feels awful. Like, you feel like you're at rock bottom, you feel like Oh, my God, I'm going to shut down. What do I do? Like, how do I solve this? Oh, God, everything is crashing, and you just have to get through that crash. There's no way to not feel that crash. There are days where you get zero sales. And then the next day, you’ll get so many that you're like I'm out of stock.

#29 I think the second big challenge was to accept that this is possible. | Meenakshi Kishore | The Climapreneur Show
It's actually the farmer who can lead climate change, and he can be the climate warrior instead of being the victim of climate change and that's where I think the conversation should kind of head towards and realise why and how the farmer can play a huge role in building this journey towards sustainability in contributing in a quick change. When I think about it, I think sustainability can be far quicker to achieve if we have farmers on board.
Meenakshi Kishore | Founder of Advait Living Farms
Meenakshi Kishore is a practitioner and founder of Advait Living Farms, a 35+ acre regenerative farm that is building a new perspective on how nutrient-rich & carbon-rich restored soil can be the key to boosting yields and securing farmer incomes in the face of climate change. Her farming and hands-on experience of 5 years makes her a powerhouse of knowledge. In her previous corporate life, she worked at HSBC, DCM Sriram, and Intellecap where she supported For-Profit social-good businesses globally. Her passion for positive climate change and restoring the balance is the foundation for her regenerative farming efforts. She is an avid speaker as well and is hoping to build a network of regenerative farmers across the globe.

#28 I was very alone in what I was going to pursue | Kerry Bannigan | The Climapreneur Show
And so I think when you look to come into the space, if it overwhelms you when you think, but I don't have an idea for a solution, we don't just need the solution providers, we need the solution amplifies the solution funders. And the solution enhancers, because that's how this is going to drive us to where we need to go, we're going to reach a point where there can't be any more new business models to consider, we really need to start collaborating and supporting those that exist, and that we know can drive the change. It's getting quite saturated. And so with that, we need to see who has got what going on, how it can be used even cross-sector, are there solutions in food that can be applied to the fashion sector to eliminate waste, help with chemical toxins? What can we do there? What does that look like?

#27 There were so many times that I just thought I just can't do this anymore | Karen Thomas | The Climapreneur Show
I literally did not have a choice about building it because I'm an empath, I could feel everybody else's pain and their struggles. And I had to do something that was going to help and I didn't really know at the time what that was going to be but I just had to and because it was burning into my soul. It was just so heartbreaking to see everybody struggle. And so I knew I had to do something.

#26 I think that more influencers need to like step out of their comfort zone | Sonya Vajifdar | The Climapreneur Show
Like, it's everyone's inner battles that they're going through. And I mean, I had a really really tough time even not only with viewers , like with my family, I mean, how do you suddenly tell people or stores. There are store owners who meet me now and they are like, oh, we've not had a collection from you for so long. And I'm like, Yeah, I stopped. Then it's like, Oh, my God, you've stopped, you know, like, something must have gone wrong. So it's, honestly, it's been a long journey. And it's a lot to do with my journey into spirituality.

#24 Just take that step, take one step, do it and even if it makes a very small difference, it makes a difference | Pallavi Utagi | The Climapreneur Show
"My family would often say, why are you doing this? You know, fully out of a concern for me saying, you know, don't do this. It's way too hard. Why do you want to put yourself through it? Do it after your baby is let's say 10 years old, 12 years old. Or generally, you know you have a decent paying job and why do you want to put yourself through this? A lot of them. Ofcourse, there were also the people who would say that this category won't work. Who does that? When you have disposables, why would someone wash diapers and use? You foolish to even think that people will go back in time. "

And a good cocoa farm, if it's well managed, doesn't have to have any additional inputs other than water. So that way our opportunity was and our thought was, if this can happen at the farm, why cannot be replicated in the chocolate, so that the customer can experience the same level of circular economy or the same level of sustainability and recyclability in the final product. And fortunately for us, it worked. You know, fortunately, we were able to put things in perspective and take it forward all the way to chocolate. It was not a very smooth switch. My parents are not very comfortable with me leaving a job. I was also myself very scared. Because this was the first time I was doing it. I had no experience in the past of starting a venture or being into business, so there was a lot of fear, But you know once you get into it. Shifting from a corporate job to a startup, there is a fear, but there is no looking back then. Once you are into the startup, once you are an entrepreneur, it's even tougher you go back to a job then.

#17 I was driven by my calling, and my purpose propelled me to take that decision |Barkha Bhatnagar Das|Greendigo| The Climapreneur Show
"But, you know, I was driven by my calling, and my purpose propelled me to take that decision. So while I was still working, you know, my co founder, and I decided to start with our research, because, you know, I've always wanted to do something that moves the needle on living sustainably, while my co founder had faced a problem firsthand, you know, with finding organic cotton clothing for her daughter in India. Our cause is to make products that are safe for the health of people and the planet. We are a purpose driven business and stay true to our core values throughout our supply chain from farm to factory. Our products are very customer centric. We are not just selling products or aiming to offer products that can be labeled as sustainable or organic, they have to be functional and utility driven for the customer and easily fit in the busy life of young parents."

#16 Change is possible and it is easy| Anuradha Parekh |Co founder, The Better India, The Better Home| The Climapreneur Show with Shweta Dalmia
"The fact that almost 200 million people read the content of The Better India every month, really inspires me, it shows me that there is so much passion and interest in people to make a difference. The fact after reading the stories, people don't stop there, but go out and seek ways to help, to contribute, to volunteer to grow, to learn, to teach, and in 1000 different ways to change the status quo. This is really what inspires me. And the fact that over 40,000 Indians from all over the country from over 400 cities and towns and villages in India have chosen to make a shift in their home care products, to more sustainable alternatives when they chose the better India. This also inspires me. So I think there's just so much to celebrate in climate action today."

2:26 “Individuals and communities charged with the right dose of inspiration and awareness will be the biggest drivers of change.”

5:36 Change is possible and that it is easy
8:25 What led to the creation of The Better Home?
10:40 What were the critiques that she received and How to handle critiques?
14:19 “Successes seem to be just building blocks to a larger goal.”

# 15 This is my life, I can do much more | Bhavini Parikh | Bunko Junko | The Climapreneur Show
“And all of a sudden, I was getting so many awards, so many recognitions and all of that. So I'm so happy about that. But before receiving this award. The importance for me is awareness. I'm creating awareness in the world people are coming with another view of the upcycled things and women empowerment and all the things. So, they relate Bunko Junko with all these things, you know, and that is the recognition, this is not only the Bhavini’s recognition. This is the recognition of upcycling, environmental sustainability, and women empowerment all the women who are working. It’s their recognition. I would like to say nowadays, an increasing amount of waste is generated, you know, so we need to be more sustainable. We need to recycle or upcycle as much as we can. And for the youngsters I would like to say okay, you can do so much you know at this age we are doing then then you are the techno savvy people you can do so much so let's do it and don't think of it just do it. Everything will happen on their own, you know, but decide to do it. “

#14 If you have self belief, then even others will start believing in it | Kirti Poonia | The Climapreneur Show with Shweta Dalmia
"And we were, I think, just about 350 women back then. And now at the start of COVID, we were 2300 women. And now by the time COVID is ending or this year is ending, we are 24,000 women now. So this is really the impact of Okhai. The truth of the proposition of this business is that women work from home, and they work on embroidery and craft, and people from all across the world are able to purchase those on Okhai, and knowing exactly where it's coming from knowing the name of the artisan who's making it, knowing and seeing how the process was made. And that not only creates livelihood, and brings money home to the artisans, what it brings a huge amount of pride in their work, a huge amount of confidence in what they do, and how they're able to raise their families. And, you know, it's the achievement, the sense of achievement of being able to go for a pop up to Bombay from a village creates a different kind of person in that woman. "
Kirti Poonia is the Head at Okhai. She was recently added to the list of top 130 women transforming India by Niti Aayog.

#13 An individual regardless of where you are, have the power within him or her to bring change in his or her own way. | Dr Richard Munang | The Climapreneur Show with Shweta Dalmia
“Unless people become selfless unless people become purposeful, we might never be able to solve this monumental challenge of climate change and the best way to do so now is to start inspiring people because we have a big inspiration gap, we have a big passion gap and I always say this if you have passionless people, and you give them resources nothing will ever be achieved.
If you have one passionate and dedicated human being, that one passionate and dedicated human being can do what 27 million people can never do “

#10 I think everybody can be their own hero in their own stories|Dr. Shambavi Rajagopal, Founder Save Scrap and Sew| The Climapreneur Show | Episode 10
“So, I remember those initial posts, where I would be like its holiday but please do try to remember that the landfill is getting filled and the earth is our mother. Post like that, asking people for their time. And I am very glad, that I have come to a point, telling people okay, you have done your bit, take care of your family also, it's amazing because what the buddies started doing was, their children were studying, so they want to accompany them, they will do some cutting, sorting, stitching. One of the things which I always met with and was surprised, Paper, plastic, glass all these are counted very high when people are talking about recycling, scrap is not discussed much. Even if you are aware of it, you don’t know what to do with it. Another major challenge, people said why aren’t we selling it? I decided, in the beginning, we are not going to sell anything. We don’t want any money from anybody. We want your time and efforts. There is an ethical point also, the tailor is giving me some scrap, which belongs to someone else, how can I sell it. “

#09 How sustainable living can help underprivileged children| Shreya Jain| Founder Organic Swathes| The Climapreneur Show
Shreya is an upcoming climapreneur, all set to make her way into the world of sustainable fashion. She is with us to talk about her Galgota campaign. Shreya is the founder of organic swathes.
"The world I visualize is green, organic, ethical, clean. From art to fashion and design, sustainability is my guideline. Nature – it's bountiful…so why look elsewhere, really? When I look at my brand, natural is all I want it to be. Onion peels, cinnamon spice all things from the earth are nice, And that’s how I make my dyes. So our planet doesn’t pay the price for how we decide to live our lives. Upcycle, recycle, reuse… Gentle fashion is what I choose. So yes, that’s how Organic Swathes came about: Conscious, planet-loving fashion throughout. That’s how it will always be. Organic Swathes –Fashion against cruelty and always, always, always for sustainability." Shreya Jain

#08 Entrepreneurial journey of Utkarsh Biradar and Ganesh Balakrishnan, Founders, Flatheads| The Climapreneur Show
“Which is when we kicked our entrepreneurial journey. It has been a fantastic journey so far; you know realizing that objective of getting your hands dirty and building something from scratch. We have done that with MOMOE and now we are doing with FLATHEADS. I would say, very simple, when you are trying to be an entrepreneur, learn as much as possible from people around you. And that’s the journey we are poised for in the next decade, we are incredibly privileged to be a part of that and you will see how this will pan out in the next decade. It’s a very exciting time for brands across categories to be built in India. “Ganesh
“So, when we wanted to actually higher our first developer, we actually didn’t know how to interview that person. We didn’t know what to ask him during that interview. Consistency, I think is very important. One of the things that I and Ganesh always say is that getup-dress up and show up. So, I feel early-stage start-ups need to do a lot of collaborations. This is not something you can actually completely build out on your own. Of course, there is marketing and there is a growth hack but being able to partner with people is very important and the partnerships could be on all fronts.” Utkarsh
Utkarsh Biradar and Ganesh Balakrishnan founders of Flatheads. Flatheads Aurea, India’s first bamboo sneaker. They share their entrepreneurial journey with some interesting insights on the future of e-commerce, challenges faced while incorporating sustainability, and many more amazing insights from their own journey.

“I started in the world of social media just for fun personally. How can you take what you are already doing in social media and use is for companies whose projects you believe in and you can really help to then help more people on a bigger scale There is nothing better than entrepreneurship because you are just learning all the time? It’s just a constant learning curve. And for me, I am not a sustainability expert, I am not you know, an eco-professional, but even just a consumer myself as a person, I wanted to do better, I wanted to do more, I wanted to understand, you know when it comes to sustainability, when it comes to ethics, when it comes to our wellbeing and how all of these are interconnected it’s just so cool to learn about and I get to do that while I make a living. I mean what more could you want.”

"Minimalism is something that we need to adopt. With new brands coming up, sustainable products becoming accessible it's great. It’s great for all of us but again we have to realize what we need and not hoard things just because they are sustainable and overnight just switch off, switch whatever you have currently, just remove them and buy sustainable products that’s not the way. I would really urge people and suggest please use up whatever you currently have and then make the gradual change. "- Shikha Singla
