If you don't love fitness, or you can't prioritize it, here's what to do: Be Honest - Stop lying to yourself and saying you'll make it a priority. If it's not in the cards right now, it's not in the cards. And if you hate it, just do the bare minimum to be a healthy person! Adopt MED - Minimum Effective Dose - What is the minimum amount of effort you can get away with for the desired outcome? (Optimal Health and Longevity) My Minimum Effective Dose Recommendations: Workout Time Per Week = Hours (or less) per week. Total! Time Per Workout = 20-30 Minutes. That's it... Seriously! Before I continue, there are 168 hours in a single week. Subtract 8 hours of sleep per night, you’re left with 112 hours each week. If you work 40 hours per week, you’re then left with 72 hours… I’m asking for 2 of them. Let’s be realistic here. I’m a busy guy. But even I am not so busy that I can’t give up 2 of 72 hours!! What To Do Each Week: 2x per week = Hip hinge movement Examples: Squat, Deadlift, Kettlebell Swings 1x per week = Pulling Movement Examples: Weighted Chin-Ups, Body Weight Chin-Ups, or negatives and holds, if you can’t do chin-ups yet. 1x per week = Pushing Movement Example: Push-Ups. All you need is body weight. 2x Per Week = Yoga/ Mobility - These two yoga sessions should feel like a workout! You should get a good little sweat going! The beauty of this is you can combine the hip hinge movements with the pull and push movements! Example Week: Monday = Squats and Chin-Ups (20 minutes) Tuesday = Rest or take a walk outdoors Wednesday = Yoga Flow (20-30 minutes) Thursday = Squats and Pull-Ups (20 minutes) Friday = Rest or take a walk outdoors Saturday = Yoga Flow Sunday = Rest or take a walk outdoors That's really all you need to be a happy, healthy, mobile human being!! Will this help you win the CrossFit Games?! Of course not! But who cares?! I'm just trying to help average, everyday people, find ways to include fitness in their daily lives!

Q: Question about cold showers - do you still get the full benefit if you don’t get your head wet? I don’t wash my hair everyday and therefore don’t put my head under the cold water in the mornings. The Scary Facts, Right Off the Bat!: In the past 50 years, the nutrient density of our food has decreased by anywhere from 15%-65% depending on the specific food… The Average, taken from 27 different kinds of vegetables: Copper declined by 76% Calcium declined by 46% Iron declined by 27% Magnesium declined by 24% Potassium declined by 16% The Average, taken from 10 different kinds of meat: Copper declined by 24% Calcium by 41% Iron by 54% magnesium by 10% Potassium by 16% Compared to food in the year 1940, to match micronutrients, in 2019 a human would have to consume: 2x as much meat 3x times as much fruit 4x times as many vegetables. Fruits vs. Veggies: It is critical that we stop putting "fruits and vegetables" in the same category! Here's why... Directly comparing 100 grams of banana to 100 grams of broccoli:Gram for Gram Broccoli has: 3x more Protein 12x more Vitamin A 10x more Vitamin C 1/5th the Net Carbs 1/6th the Sugar… Banana wins on one micronutrient… Potassium… oh and it wins by a measly 1%. So, the reasons why I choose broccoli over banana are clear… But the most important point: Yes, I have to eat 4 times more veggies now than I did in the year 1940… and I’m cool with that. Why? Because I could eat 6 times more broccoli before matching the sugar content of the banana! Okay, now, let’s compare broccoli to blueberries, one of the most micronutrient-rich fruits. Broccoli, gram for gram, has: 4x more Protein 4x more Potassium 12x more Vitamin A 9x more Vitamin C 3x more Iron 5x more Magnesium 1/2 the Net Carbohydrates Oh, and I could still eat 6x more broccoli before matching the sugar content of blueberries! How Soil Works: Plants sequester carbon along with water and sunlight from the atmosphere via photosynthesis and turn it into carbohydrates. AKA Sugars… (Click Here for a Short Video) But here’s what you don’t see happening underground… Plants are deeply rooted inside an interconnected web of mycorrhizal (MICO-RIZAL) fungi, all throughout the ground. Everywhere beneath your feet is this web of fungi and they have a beneficial relationship with plants. Plants give away as much as 40% of the carbon they pull from the atmosphere to directly feed the fungi. In return, the fungi penetrate the roots of the plans and feed them minerals and enzymes required for the plants to grow and thrive! Today, scientists estimate that 80% of all of earth’s plants are rooted in this web of fungi… The fungi can connect plants up to 250 yards away from one another via this incredible web.

I want to be clear; both of these items work synergistically and hand-in-hand... They feed on one another in the worst ways possible… Obesity is an Ego Problem! This is why I say if I can’t fix your mindset, there’s no reason for you to switch to Clovis… You will fail. Because Obesity is an Ego problem. We need to fix your mindset first. I need you to Unlearn everything you thought you knew and Relearn the accurate information that will empower you to live a better life. I need to fix your mindset before you can ever begin to pursue a life of meaning and fulfillment. I Had To "Trick" You To Get You Here: The problem is… In the beginning, you were all so focused on “weight loss” that I couldn’t mention a word about mindset or Ego or you would have never consumed a moment of my content. Everything I said to you had to be“Lose 10 pounds in 1 week!”“Lose 30 pounds in 30 days!”“30 Days to Rapid Fat Loss!"... and on and on. My first every E-book was called, "The Simple Slim-Down: A Guide To Rapid Fat Loss." Why is that?! Well, because you were all married to your ideas… You lacked even a baseline level of self-awareness to understand the root causes of your weight problems…You had blinders on! An Epidemic: We have an Epidemic in America that I call, “lack of self-awareness.” People are brainwashed and 100% married to their beliefs, and they don’t even realize it… Dogma is everywhere. Challenge peoples’ beliefs and they see it as a personal attack on their character… I want to be clear: There is nothing on Earth more silly than thinking your beliefs define you as a human being. You cannot attach your identity to ideas I assure you, you very rarely have a thought, opinion, or idea that is 100% original and your own. Thoughts and ideas are put into your heads by others! Tony Robbins has one of my favorite quotes: “All suffering begins with a focus on the SELF.” What Is Ego?: Tricia Nelson was a guest on my Podcast and is a Best-Selling Author. In her book, "Heal Your Hunger: 7 Simple Steps to End Emotional Eating Now," Tricia outlines the following examples, all of which are manifestations of Ego: Defensiveness Low Self-Esteem Insecurities Taking things personally Competitiveness Comparing ourselves to others Seeking approval from others Feeling superior to others Wanting credit for your actions Putting people down and gossiping

Lavender contains phytoestrogens, also called "estrogenics." These are compounds that mimic estrogen in the body. Personal care products are loaded with Lavender these days! Your skin absorbs anything you put on it, including phytoestrogens. Diffusing lavender products basically creates a concentrated dose of lavender that you inhale. There are 10 separate clinical studies linking lavender to estrogenic symptoms. Analyzing the results from these studies is pretty nasty, a direct quote… "Lavender has already given rise to many cases of prepubertal gynecomastia from chronic exposure in personal care products." Multiple studies have shown this… For those of you not already familiar, gynecomastia means man-boobs. More research needs to be done but even just based on these 10 studies, I’m not diffusing the stuff or using it on my skin. Why can some people eat fruit, soda, and grains and not gain any weight? This is simply a matter of genetics, which will always play a role in health... and life is not fair! Also, refer back to my AMA - How Weight Loss Ruined Everything. America is obsessed with Body Weight!! Which is actually a terrible way to measure health and doesn't tell us anything about the metabolic health of an individual. Plenty of people are "skinny fat." They are lean on the outside and metabolically broken on the inside. There are plenty of "lean" individuals walking around with 6-pack abs and also suffering from Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Type 2 Diabetes. Stop the obsession with "skinny!" Skinny Does Not Mean Healthy! How Did You Cure Your Pit Stains? I used to get the worst pit stains while performing on stage as a musician!! I had to use prescription strength antiperspirant which (little did I know) was loaded with nasty chemicals! I removed all toxic products from my home: Including deodorant, bath soaps, shampoos, conditioners, dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, cleaning sprays, fabrics softener, toothpaste... Literally everything with toxic ingredients. I replaced them with non-toxic alternatives: Pick up my Approved Products E-Book to Replace Your Products! Too much Omega 6 can be inflammatory. That said, if you are following a Clovis protocol, this is a moot point. Don't worry about it. Why Is Dairy So Bad? Most dairy in America is from feedlot cattle and is wildly inflammatory. The animals are fed antibiotics and hormones which are stored in the fat you are drinking. Most dairy products also contain sugar. Check the ingredients list on milk, you'll be shocked by the sugar content! The Truth About Acid Reflux... This is a problem of not enough stomach acid causing foods to not be properly digested. They rot and ferment in your gut and cause heartburn. Treating this with antacids only makes the problem worse! Thoughts on Depression and Changing Your Diet vs. Antidepressants? Depression begins with poor gut health. It is an inflammatory chronic disease. Lifestyle intervention will always be more powerful at reversing chronic disease than conventional medicine and pharmaceuticals. What are Your Thoughts on MCT Oil? Fantastic superfood! Follow my recommendations on the Approved Foods List. What Are The Benefits of Oil Pulling? Mostly that coconut oil is antimicrobial. Kills the bad bacteria in the mouth and changes the environment so healthy bacteria can thrive. Can You Make Suggestions for Better Sleep? Click Here for Sleep Hacking! Just stay within your Custom Macros! Do You Have Any Tips to Help Deal With Cravings for Unhealthy Foods? Remove them all from your home! No exceptions! Remove them and the cravings will subside. If they are simply not an option, it makes things much easier. When out and about, you must rely on discipline here. Discipline equals freedom.

I've worked one-on-one with over 600 clients in just the year 2018 alone! The biggest thing I have learned through this experience is... There is an overabundance of information about "diets" on the internet. There is a massive lack of information about how the human body actually works!! If you do not understand how your body works on the most basic level, long-term success with any health & wellness protocol will be virtually impossible. So I set out to teach you exactly how your own metabolism works, in a nutshell! The 4 Most Basic Functions of Human Metabolism: Energy - the human metabolism breaks down foods to create energy Catabolism - breaking down foods to create energy. When the body is in a catabolic state, it is breaking things down Anabolism - using broken down foods to rebuild and repair tissues. “anabolic steroids.” Building and reaping tissue When the body is in an anabolic state, it is repairing tissue and building new tissue Cellular Functions - the energy created by human metabolism allows the body to perform all the necessary cellular functions. What Your Body Is Made Of: Amino Acids link together to build Proteins Proteins link together to build Cells Cells link together to build Tissues All of your organs are made of tissues - skin, bone, heart, lungs, eyelids, everything... Macronutrients: Fat = 9 calories per gram Protein = 4 calories per gram Carbohydrates = 4 calories per gram **Ethanol = 7 Calories Per Gram - The only other substance that provides calories is alcohol (ethanol). Technically NOT a macronutrient because it is not necessary for survival. Fun Fact - ingested carbohydrates are not required for human survival either since the body can create its own glucose. Fancy word - gluconeogenesis… I went on to describe the role that each macronutrient plays in energy production, catabolism, and anabolism. Step by step. Protein: Can either be burned for energy in some very specific cases… or stored and used to rebuild and repair tissues. Catabolism - broken down to amino acids. Certain amino acids can be converted to glucose and burned for energy. Anabolism - amino acids are linked together to build and repair muscle tissue. Fats: Must be either burned or stored. Period. Catabolism - the triglyceride is broken apart. The fatty acids are converted to Ketones and burned for energy. Anabolism - the fatty acids are attached to a glycerol molecule and stored as triglycerides. Body fat. Fats are stored as triglycerides. Carbohydrates: Must be either burned or stored Period.

I have come up with a hypothesis. Something I have observed that I think seriously holds people back… Healthy People Lie To Themselves. I just want to start with a little refresher on the idea of Learn. Unlearn. Relearn. Here’s what’s happening… More and more people are coming into Clovis and that is great! I’ve gotten some more clients who consider themselves, “healthy people.” Now, I won’t even talk about the psychological tricks their minds are playing on them… Calling themselves healthy person, but hiring me for help, and usually overweight. There’s this phenomenon in all skills, really. Martial arts, shooting guns, any type of fitness, and especially nutrition… The more a person thinks they know, the harder they are to teach. Beginners are hands down the easiest people to teach. It’s why you’ve heard me use the term in the past, “always be a white belt.” You’ve also heard me talk about how bringing your baggage from previous “diets” into the Clovis world is the same as being a complete jerk to your brand new wonderful boyfriend because your last boyfriend cheated on you… Marriage - An Analogy: When someone asks you how long you’ve been married, you tell them how many years…. If you’ve been married for 6 years, You don’t say, “well, I really started exploring romantic relationships when I was 15 years old. There have been a lot of ups and downs on this rollercoaster ride but now I’ve found the one for me! I’ve been married for 40 years.” No. You don’t count the previous relationships as part of your marriage. You say, "I've been married for 6 years." Yet, people will come to me and say they’ve been “eating healthy and exercising for 20 years.” Then I proceed to tell them that everything they think know about health and wellness is wrong. Like… completely wrong. But somehow, they just keep saying their health and wellness journey has been 20 years. No. If you’ve been Clovis for 6 months, you have 6 months of experience as a healthy person. That’s all there is to it. You have decades of experience being an unhealthy person… but you have 6 months of being a healthy person. Always remember that. I bring this up because of these recent Just Justin Podcast episodes I've released have led to amazing messages from people… It’s finally gotten even Clovis Veterans to be honest with themselves and admit that they still participate in habitual behaviors that are not good for them!! Sure, they started eating differently with Clovis… but they didn’t fully wipe the slate clean!! Clean Slate: You must be willing to wipe the slate clean and start over! Don’t bring any of your old baggage with you into Clovis! Don't let any of your calorie-counting follow you into Clovis. Don’t let the pointless workouts that do nothing but increase your risk of injury come into Clovis. Don’t let your cheat days or your “everything in moderation” junk come into Clovis. Start Over! If you’re on Day 2 of Clovis, your health and wellness journey has lasted a grand total of 2 days… That's all there is to it!
