Be aware of your environment
You’re walking through the store with your mom, picking out the turkey she’s going whip up for the holidays. But as you pick up that turkey, you realize the life the turkey had before it made it to the store. You start to reflect on all the impacts humans have had on the environment and realize the real trauma we have caused to our earth. Host Shishir Tallada interviews Sydney Sowa on her take on what Environmental Awareness is.
Breast cancer awareness
While October can be quite festive and very fun for many, October can also remind people of the difficult battles either them or their loved ones have fought. Many people take all their pink clothes out of their closets, take a few extra dollars out of their wallets to give to charity and are a bit more mindful of the experiences others have gone through. October was declared Breast Cancer Awareness Month in 1985, and many traditions have emerged from that. For example, cancer awareness runs, Volley for the Cure and pink outs. In this episode, host Shishir Tallada interviews Johari Abdul-Zahir about her experience as a child of someone who passed away from Breast Cancer and explaining what this month means to her.
