Forgetting About Fitness Goals In Order To Succeed
Atif joined up at the start of September as Gyms reopened in Scotland and it took us a few weeks to get his intro call organised. But it was worth the wait. Atif is vastly experienced in fitness, having had many years of success followed by a reverse of that, and he is now looking to figure out how to make his lifestyle choices stick and build habits around his fitness that means he can stay on top of all of this for the rest of his life.
He's such a lovely guy, and I know you are going to love him and his Scottish accent.
FYI - Edinburgh is one of my most favorite places in the world.
We got chatting about how his goal focus has driven him to great success, followed by that success being inverted and how to move away from an achievement mindset and into a more well rounded longer-term view.

Protect Yourself on Social Media with Terry Anderson
This week's episode of The Fitness Solution is with a dear friend of mine called Terry Anderson. Terry has gone from Zero followers on TikTok to 70k in about 6 months.
This isn't an episode all about how to grow a following, quite the opposite in fact. Terry has seen some shocking stuff on TikTok and he works really hard to call the bad stuff when he sees it. As we all should.
It's very important when on these platforms to make sure you are following the people who can be trusted and are giving out real proper advice. Please research who the people are before you blindly do what they say.
And remember a lot of people on Social Media are there to get you to buy something, even though they don't use it themselves or have any qualifications in what they are selling.

Finding Solutions for (Dis) Ability Fitness with Danielle Roberts
For a long time, I have had the absolute pleasure of working with Natalie South a Para-Athlete who has Cerebral Palsy.
When we first met she told me a terrifying story about how she was treated in a class by a Personal Trainer who just wasn't willing to work with her, and her condition in order to let her get the most out of what a Fitness Class should be. Added to that Natalie has just one of the most open attitudes to trying anything and everything when it comes to her Fitness.
This has lead me on a little quest to try and help open up the discussion around (Dis)Ability Fitness and how the Fitness Industry can and should do a lot better when it comes to this field...and as luck would have it I happened upon today's guest Danielle Roberts.
Danielle is starting a Fitness Platform for Disabled people to be able to enjoy Fitness for themselves and is setting about to create an App with dedicated workouts for Disable people by Disabled Trainers and Coaches.
Its a fantastic idea, and it was a pleasure to hear all about Danielle and her project on today's episode.

Why "Eat Less, Move More" Needs More Nuance with Samantha Yardley
The notion that people who are struggling with weight need to "Eat Less and Move More" simply is not good enough.
Human Behavior has far more nuance and complexity than an over-simplistic quip that makes people feel awful about themselves. Something that, I think we can all agree on, needs to stop.
This week in the National Media, Samantha Yardley ended up in the middle of a frenzy based on an Article she wrote with the title "Why You Should Never Work With Fat People". I understand its shocking, and Samantha explains its meant to be a shocking title and would encourage anyone to read the whole article.
After Samantha was on The Daily Mail, ITV's This Morning and has had news articles written about all over the world reaching as far as Australia, I reached out to her on Social Media to see if she would be open to having a discussion about her viewpoint and why it needed more nuance and understanding. She agreed. And that is this interview.
The person I found on the other end of the phone was not the person the Media threw under the bus, however I am not denying she has said what she has said, but lets face it, we've all been wrong in the past. The only difference is you and I were not wrong on National Television.
I hope you enjoy the interview, and I hope it empowers you to have difficult conversations like this when you are around moments of Weight Stigmatisation.

Uncovering the scary world of "Powerlifitng" with Ben Goodman
In this weeks episode, I managed to sit down and talk to Ben Goodman.
Ben is a dear friend, and Personal Trainer based in Brighton, UK. He introduced me a few years ago to the techniques, tricks and tips that are used in Powerlifting.
Powerlifting was always a scary word for me. I was very afraid of it, as I am not a "big guy" and I always thought it wasn't for me. But to have someone like Ben be able to open the world up to me, and reveal the benefits of it, combined with just how nice thew Powerlifting community is was truly wonderful, which is why I wanted to get him on the Podcast today.
