In this final episode discussing the epic Heavy Metal Truants VIII Virtual Ride, Alex Milas and I discuss the final amount raised for the charities, the world wide phenomenon The Truants has now become, highlights from the ride itself including some of the crazy miles a few of the riders achieved and plans for the future of HMT.

For the last eight years the Heavy Metal Truants have been doing an annual charity bicycle ride from London to the UK Download Festival set upon the hallowed heavy metal grounds of Castle Donington. Open to all, the charity ride has seen metal fans, bands, and industry types getting on their bikes and raising £681,500 in the process!
With Download Festival cancelling this year due to the global crisis, the Truants have had to get creative in their fundraising efforts.

My name is Chris Maric and Ive been in the music industry my whole working life starting way back in 1998. Ive been in publicity and promotion roles with several Major record Labels, Tour Promoters and major Festivals around the world as well as helping build careers of countless smaller indie bands out there
WHAT IS THE FOURTH RUNE?
The Fourth Rune is a podcast mostly about stories from this side of the music industry fence. The people behind the scenes - Managers, Promoters, Bookers, Venue operators, photographers, production people and the incredible tales they have to share. Road Stories, Studio Drama’s, Industry insights and things like that
WHATS WITH THE NAME?
My wife gave me this awesome Viking tarot deck for my birthday a few years ago and told me I should do a reading to help find a name. The card I ended up getting was called Ahn-Zuz which I mis-pronounced as An-suz. I thought that was a cool name and when I dug into it I found that Un-Suz is the 4th Rune of the Rune Alphabet as well as Odin’s god of communication, which is actually the perfect fit for this.
WHY SHOULD I LISTEN?
So, over the years many people have said I should write a book, given the huge array of awesome people I’ve met and worked with throughout my career and not just those from the music industry. As I’ve travelled the world for music, I’ve met some incredible personalities who have some awesome stories to tell.... so presenting their expertise and their adventures via a podcast is perfect. I hope you enjoy!
