Episode 20- Running Psychology and the Pan Celtic with Chris Bennett
In this first episode of two John & Michelle talk running Psychology and what goes through our minds on Ultra's. We give all the latest GOG news and speak to GoG's own social Media man Chris Bennett about the Pan Celtic race that he has recently completed. What goes through your mind when you run? How do you actually deal with being out running for 16 hours or more and how do you get through the bad bits? John and Michelle chat Phsychology and some of the situations they have found themselves in.
Chris Bennett recently completed the Pan Celtic race on his Bike. What exactly is it, how did he do it and how do you deal with the tiredness and emotions it throws at you. Well you'll actually have to wait for the next episode for that as he tells us the story of the lead up and some of the events he has done. Humorous and interesting ( something that may have never been said about Chris!), you'll enjoy every moment of his story.

Episode 18 - Ed Flood - Trail Pursuit
In this episode Ed Flood from Trail Pursuit speaks to the GOGCast about the events they have put on around the country and the Activity breaks around Europe
We make special mention of the Strive Festival due to take place in Adventure Parc Snowdonia, Dolgarrog, North Wales and what that consists of. Amongst other entertainment, live music and talks over the weekend there is also a Half Marathon Trail run and a 10k trail. Both of these are beginner friendly and involve trail runs around the lower foothills of Eryri National Park( Snowdonia).

This is the second part of the Mark Hemsley Story, Mark talks about running during Covid, his ability to forget about nutrition. Some incredibly long races and swimming a long way when he can't really swim!

Episode 16 - Part 1/2- Mark Hemsley - Adventures, Long Races and being a Jonah
In this, the first half of the Mark Hemsley story we hear about his adventures around the world, from cheating death by spider bite, crashing on the most dangerous roads in the world and narrowly missing being on the beach when the Tsunami hit.
Mark takes us around the world with his storytelling, finding new species of frogs in the Jungle and running away from a Columbian cartel.
Mark tells us about his childhood and we hear about the influence his late father had on his life in an emotional rollercoaster that will bring a tear to most hardened of listeners.
Mark has a way of telling his story that is both humorous and riveting and it is because of this that this episode is one not to be missed.

Episode 15- Rupert Bonington- Mountain Fuel
In this episode Michelle & John interview Rupert Bonington the owner of the 'Mountain Fuel' brand of sports nutrition. He tells us all about the products available, how they are so important to pre race, race and recovery, when to use them and some of the science behind them. He gives us some Vouchers that someone can win ( listen to hear how) and a discount code for all our GOG Members.
We chat about the previous year and our favourite parts and John plays a couple of his favourite clips from the GOGcast.
We find out what's going on over xmas and the new year and how to get involved and finally we chat about the GOG Black Tie event held recently at the Imperial Hotel in Llandudno. There's a few 'Clippets' from the night but make sure you listen to the end for some special performances.
Episode 14 - Bleddyn & Geri Evans - It's an Ironman Family Affair
In this episode we chat to Geri & Bleddyn Evans, GoGs and a married couple who recently completed Ironman Cymru - We talk to them about how they both managed to get through the training whilst working full time and looking after a family. They give us their different ways of coping and training and tell us the good bits and the bad bits. We hear about the lead up and the day itself when the race was nearly cancelled due to Her Majesty's passing. They give us their tips for completing an Ironman and Bleddyn explains why a dominos Pizza isn't always the best preparation. It's a great listen and just shows that actually ' Anything IS Possible'.
John & Michelle talk recent events, including Marathon Eryri, an iconic race and one of the hardest marathons in the country taking in the views around Yr Wyddfa ( or Snowdon). We name drop Huw Jack Brassington and how we nearly stopped him from making the start of the race and give a massive shout out to all the incredible support!
The GOG black tie event is discussed and how The GoGCast will be there chatting to you all ready for the December podcast. We look forward to the Conwy Half Marathon.

Episode 13 - Paula Stevens - Becoming an Ironman, despite the Menopause

John & Michelle talk about John's hatred of cross country having just ran that day and doff their caps to those that run at Newton X Country.
We talk through the latest results and especially the Cascais Ironman 70.3 in Portugal that some GOG's competed in. We also discuss the Welsh series as GOG Triathlon are once again SUPER Series Winners after a stunning performance by the club members at the AAH Llandudno Triathlon.
We have a fantastic interview with GOG Paula Stevens, who despite suffering both physically and mentally with the Menopause, trained and competed at Ironman Wales recently. She tells us how the Menopause affected her and how she got through it to become an Ironman. She talks training, effects of her and the family and takes us through the race itself. She has a go at Rocky's Clock ( the least said about that the better though.) An inspiring listen from an Inspiring person.
It's nearly the GOG Xmas event and the chairman Rocky Roxburgh ( Rhian Roxburgh's husband) make a few appearances during the show plugging the event.
Episode 12 - Ceri Hughes - Adventure Girl and Ultra Runner
In this episode we pay homage to those GOG's that took part recently in Ironman Wales at Tenby, all 7 ( Bleddyn & Geri Evans, Paula Stevens, Chris Beardmore, Carlo Galeotti, Kevin Evans and Ian Cummins) becoming an Ironman. In fact the whole episode it dedicate to ultra this and ultra that ! touching on the Brutal Event and how Mark Hemsley took on the double brutal and beat it ! We chat about the Always Aim High Sandman triathlon and the Abedovey Swim.
Chelle and Myself chat about our recent experience running 100km at the Equinox 24 race down at Grantham, Belvoir castle ( strangely enough pronounced 'Beaver Castle ), we give a race review and chat about the weekend which was incredible.
Finally John chats to Ceri Hughes our intrepid GOG Explorer who recently completed both the Chester Ultra and the Snowdon Ultra. She tells us about her life travelling the world, the places she has been, how to dry your cycling pants on a fan and how to cycle in snow. She chats about her experience completing the Camino de Santiago Trail and other incredible journeys cycling, walking and Ultra Running!
It's a great episode even if I do say so myself and Ceri tells some brilliant stories.
Episode 11 - Jason Burke - The hardest foot race on Earth - The Marathon des Sables

Episode 9 - Geran Hughes - Fighting pigs!
In this episode Michelle & John chat about what they've been uptown including the Edge Hill University Sprint Triathlon and 'Chelle's Latest Fell race around the Coledale Horseshoe. We chat the latest great results by GOGs and have a new spot answering nutrition questions.
The guest this month is the 'G Unit' himself, Mr Geran Hughes, a coach, GOG and generally funny bloke. Listen to his stories about fighting a pig, climbing walls and winning races dressed as a woman. He gives great advice on motivation and training and tells us about his time as an GB Age Group triathlete and how he represented GB when he was younger alongside greats such as Linford Christie and Steve Backley.

Episode 8 - Tim Lloyd - Always Aim High Events
In this episode we chat to the Director of Always Aim High Events, Tim Lloyd. We chat all about his background and how AAH came about. We discuss the events they put on and the intricacies of putting a large event on. We talk cost and the environmental challenges event organisers face and how AAH are approaching these. Tim takes the 'Rocky's Clock' challenge.

We give a shout out to James Simpson one of our GOG Members who is cycling from London to Paris with the Paul’s House to Paris Cycle 2022 event run by “Young Lives v Cancer”.
James and approx. 50 riders will cycle in total of 250 miles over 3 days. 12-15 May 2022 and is raising money for “Young Lives v Cancer”.
2 years ago James personally experienced a cancer scare. After hospital tests, scans and 3 operations, a tumour was removed from just above his heart. James was left struggling to breath. Luckily his tumour turned out to be benign but unfortunately after the last operation he was left with a paralysed right diaphragm. Finding breathing extremely difficult James has made a remarkable recovery and is training hard for his cycling challenge.
The charity is very close to his heart with his 6-year-old niece also going through a cancer scare. It was the worst time in his life to date and he wishes to support and fundraise for this very special and much needed charity. Any support for his cycling challenge would be greatly appreciated. Episode 7 - Mark Dodgson Deca Ironman
In this epidsode John & Michelle talk about all the recent events the GOG family have participated in including Ceri Hughes' epic 50 Mile Chester Ultra. We go back and discuss some of the responses to the question we asked about Pre Race nerves and how people deal with them.
Our main guest in Mark Dodgson who is a Deca Ironman as well as completing and winning The Triple Brutal Triathlon and a host of other Ultra distance events. He tells us his story about participating in some of the most brutal Epic events a triathlete can take on, how he trained, his nutrition and describes the ups and downs of the events.
Its a story that needs listening too and will give you an insight to why a triathlete wants to go further and longer and how his mind works.

She tells us all about the Chester Diva Standard Triathlon and her unfortunate experiences during it as well as how she came from a background of Couch to 5k ( C25K) and drinking fizz whilst racing, all the way to running multiple marathons with the target of Ultra's in the future. The GOGCast Relaunched
It's the relaunch of the popular GOGCast from GOG triathlon with your hosts John & Michelle Farrell . This is the intro podcast to start the new series.
We explain who we are and introduce the GOGCast format to the listeners. We tell you all about GOG Triathlon and how big the club is. We explain that we are Welsh Super series Winners and have the #bestkitinwales.
