Honestly, I must say I have had more in common with a boulder than I care to admit and I’m sure you will too. For the full show notes visit www.lwapllc.com/podcasts.

From the Inside Out: Trust, Intuition and Alignment with Jamie Lerner

Having an integrated approach to well-being is such a layered concept. In this episode we dig into positive self talk, reframing how you perceive your past and embracing the power of contrast with Jaime Lerner. I have a huge revelation for myself while chatting about something that I saw and spoke about as a negative experience. Jamie invites you to think about taking “you” out of the equation and welcoming the ease of your flow. The narrative you consciously and unconsciously speak about your story can change anytime you decide. Trust, intuition and alignment can work for you in the best ways if you allow it. This conversation truly blessed me and it is my hope that the same can be said for you. For the full show notes visit www.lwapllc.com/podcast.

Environmental Wellness, Lessons and Accountability with Sherry Bougard

Environmental Wellness, Lessons and Accountability with Sherry Bougard

We all need help from time to time. Doctors need doctors, nurses need nurses and social workers need social workers. Sometimes, being trained in a certain field doesn’t mean that you can always recognize when you need help yourself. Realizing and admitting that you are in need is the first step to making things better.  As a social worker and a victim of domestic violence, Sherry realized the need for people to not only unlearn learned behaviors, but also to live in an environment that is healthy and allows for growth, healing and change to occur.

Of the many men and women Sherry works with, her message is the same. You can do a new thing and change the trajectory of your life. By staying accountable for your own actions you can increase the self-awareness needed to continue to grow and move forward. Without accountability, you fall into the cycle of not quite beginning your journey because you still have some pre-work to do first. Visit www.lwapllc.com/podcast for all the details.

Self-care and Wellness with Kim Cross

Self-care and Wellness with Kim Cross

Self-care about your wellness and the activities that invite health, peace and joy. It isn’t only about the act, it can also include the products and techniques that you use. I never knew goat’s milk had so many benefits for the skin. I also didn’t know how soy candles were better than traditional candles. Today’s episode is a great reminder that luxury can come in many forms and is subjective because we all have different ideas of what luxury means to us. Wellness practices and journeys vary from person to person. If you don’t have one I hope The Kidney Connection inspires you to start exploring and creating some for yourself. How To Process The Grief of Relationships Lost From People Who Are Still Living

How To Process The Grief of Relationships Lost From People Who Are Still Living

This episode is very personal for me, it is a situation I have found myself in many times in my life but just learned how to fully process. The past 5 years have been very consequential to me for so many reasons. One huge lesson came when I lost some very dear and close relationships. There were no conflicts, arguments or disagreements, just a slow withdrawal that ended abruptly. Now, we all know that relationships have their seasons and each one isn’t meant to go on forever. What I was not prepared for was what I now know was grief that set in. It caused me to question myself, my actions and my decisions about who I let in my life. I felt like a bad judge of character and worse a bad person. All of this affected every area of my life because it exploited the lack of trust I already had in myself to make sound decisions. Self-Care Versus Soul-Care: What’s the Difference and Why You Need Them Both

Self-Care Versus Soul-Care: What’s the Difference and Why You Need Them Both

So much buzz has been going around about self-care. While it is a very important part of your wellness journey, soul-care is also needed to maximize and sustain the peace, calm and joy you are working to develop and maintain in your life. While the two can share the same activities, they also have activities that are totally different. Some of these activities are purely for relaxation and rest and others are for the nourishment of your mind.  Emotional growth often lies in the soul-care practices you have for yourself. Emotional self-care and soul-care often involves a lot of mental work and doesn’t always feel relaxing, lol. It feels exhausting, frustrating and impossible at times. You will likely need to follow your soul-care with self-care to replenish your cup. For the show notes visit www.lwapllc.com/podcast.

Are You Prepping For Your Business and Personal Wellness? They Are Not The Same.

Are You Prepping For Your Business and Personal Wellness? They Are Not The Same.

The characteristics of business wellness and personal wellness are similar, sometimes intersecting, but they are not the same. Both types of wellness require you to have a reasonable handle on your time management and will also help you maximize the time you have to accomplish not only what you need to do, but what you want as well. Many busy professionals like yourself are so busy working to build or scale your business or career that you don’t properly plan the activities that keep you fulfilled, energized and well. This leads to negative, low energy feelings and actions such as burn-out frustration and resentment. Delegation in your business or career and life will greatly improve not only your wellness, but your mental, physical and emotional wellness. For the show notes visit www.lwapllc.com/podcast.

3 Steps to Neutralize Fear and Maximize the Joy in Your Life

3 Steps to Neutralize Fear and Maximize the Joy in Your Life

Neutralizing the fear that lives within you is not always easy. Self-awareness is really a prerequisite to this work because until you dig into yourself and learn how you think, feel and where you need to improve you might not be ready to drill down into issues such as how you think and fear. Sometimes, a full picture is needed in order to get an accurate accounting of where you are in life. Fear is one of those things that can be very obvious or it can sneak up on you. Many might not even realize the root of a problem is fear itself. We are all different and what moves us is different.  Creating a strategic action plan for your fear will really help you cope with it in a healthier way. Black Sexuality in America with Nicole Goode

Black Sexuality in America with Nicole Goode

In this episode, we dig into black sexuality in the larger context of life. Nicole Goode, who is a sociologist and sexologist, deals in healthy and unhealthy relationships and so much more. The sociological concepts around society norms and biases play a large role in how many people live their lives every day. The health of the black family unit has been affected by years of cultural and socio-economic experiences. The daily realities of racism, inequality and constant barriers take their toll when trying to do the most basic of tasks and reach goals. Our own toxicities also tend to compound the issues we face when looking inwards at ourselves before we can even attempt to work on relationships with others in our lives.

How to Deal With the Toxicity Created by Avoiding Toxic Behaviors or Traits

How to Deal With the Toxicity Created by Avoiding Toxic Behaviors or Traits

What do you do when the toxic characteristics that you are attempting to avoid from childhood show up all over in your adult life? It’s so frustrating to have worked so hard to do better as you are growing up only to realize that those traits have materialized in ways you did even realize until it was too late. I see posts on Twitter often that say, “my toxic trait is…”, and I think about this. Through therapy, I have traced many of these toxic traits from childhood. The funny thing is most times they looked different, but at the root are the same in principle. Whether you are dealing with perfectionism, procrastination, or overall performance paralysis they all come from some deep rooted fear or issues that haven't been resolved or maybe even unearthed yet. It takes some deep work to expose the origin of these toxic traits so that you can begin to process through and unravel them.
