Earth Day Everyday (and a Spring Bucket List!)
As people who have been created by God, we have a unique opportunity to have a hands-on, intimate role in cultivating sacred places on this earth. 🌍 We also have the choice and ability to contribute to desecration if we so wish. Which will it be?
Let's explore HOW we can we take seriously the great privilege we’ve been given to tend and cultivate good things on this earth - not just on Earth Day (April 22nd), but as a way we live our lives all the time. This episode is chock-full of inspiration and ideas for you to do just that, right where you are.
I also include some spring bucket list items and resources so you can take some intentional steps to soak up all the beauty of this season. Don’t miss it! 🌿

Nourishing Your Family & Community with Sophia Eng
Join me as I chat with Sophia Eng, a first-generation Vietnamese American, sought-after speaker, podcast host, and author of the brand new, beautiful cookbook, The Nourishing Asian Kitchen. She’s also one of my fellow Tennessee farmers! Sophia recently left a successful Silicon Valley career to start a 5-acre permaculture mini farm with her family in east Tennessee in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. 🌄
As a busy, full-time working mom and homesteader, Sophia Eng is making nourishing, simple Asian recipes doable for anyone. 🍜 As Sophia says, “If I can do it, you can do it. It starts with one recipe at a time.”
In this episode, you’ll go on a journey with Sophia from urban California to a homestead in East Tennessee and hear how her Vietnamese heritage guided her along the way as she wrote her cookbook and started a farm. As she shares the powerful steps she took to turn her family towards land stewardship, nourishment, and community, you’ll be empowered to implement some of these practices in your own life and home.
Some of the topics we talk about:
Taking risks & living boldly
Multi-generational living & preserving family heritage
How to prepare for the future through healthy food & lifestyle choices
Why bartering and trading are practices we need to keep alive
“The beautiful web of being in community” and why it’s important
LISTEN IN, and let Sophia inspire you to nourish yourself and your family well, starting today! 💚

The No-Edit Life with Steven Bailey (part 4)
He’s back! Once again, there are NO EDITS and no plan for what to talk about! 🫢
Join me for another fun conversation with inspiring entrepreneur and incredible chef, my fellow farmer and adventurer, my husband, Steven Bailey. On the evening of a date night at home, Steven and I sit down to chat together again in the studio here on Kindred Farm about the joys and challenges of the huge building project we’re currently in the midst of, and so much more. What we share in this freestyle convo is what you get to hear!
A few of the things we discuss in this episode…
Carrying the weight of responsibility for a big dream project
How you can approach the “big barn project” in your own life
The opportunity to leave a legacy through what we create here on earth
Why Steven loves developing his artisan pizza recipes and why we want to offer more dinners, classes, and pizza experiences in the near future
There’s no shortage of creativity, but how do two dreamers dial in what we’re actually going to do in this new, incredible space we’re building? Join us as we figure it all out! 💛
Steven Bailey is a private chef, regenerative farmer, menu-creator, and farm-to-table consultant. Raised by a mother from the rice fields of South Korea and a father who grew up on a North Carolina tobacco farm, Chef Steven Bailey (a.k.a. The Korean Farmer) has been trained by his taste buds and unique Korean/Southern cultural heritage rooted in food and agriculture. As a private chef for his weekly clients and special occasion dinners, Steven crafts creative and inspiring food - from kimchi tacos to hand cut pappardelle, and everything in between. Steven attended Baylor University in Waco, TX, where he began cooking and baking and was probably the only guy in his fraternity to own a Kitchen Aid Mixer. Right out of college and living in Dallas, Steven started a missions travel company called 963 Missions and a fair-wage coffee company before founding Urban Acres, an organic produce co-op, market, and urban farm, in 2009. After selling Urban Acres in 2015, he moved his family to the rolling green hills of Santa Fe, Tennessee where they broke ground and began Kindred Farm.

"Root To Rise"
This episode is one of my favorites! “Root to rise” is a phrase that my yoga instructor always used to say, and I’ve never forgotten it. What’s beneath the surface - the roots - are just one part of the story. We root so we can rise strong above the surface. In this episode, I share inspiring and practical ideas from farming and gardening on why strong roots are so important, and we explore how rising strong is such an important part of rootedness.
Let's choose wisely what we're rooting ourselves in, because it determines how healthy our roots are going to be…and where our story is going to go.

Birth & (Re)birth: Celebrating the Strength of Women with Sarah Ford
No matter what our story is, at some point we all must learn to choose our hard, hold things loosely, and surrender.
Join me for a conversation with my wondrous friend Sarah Ford - birth doula and aspiring midwife, owner of (Re)birthing Wellness and Held Postpartum, and lover of all things health and wellness. This episode is packed with inspiration for every woman, whether you’ve birthed or not, whether it’s been awhile, or even if you had a difficult birth experience.
Sarah Ford’s passion for birth began as a homeschooled 11-year-old when she witnessed the home birth of one of her siblings. After starting her own business and attending her first birth as a doula at age 16 (!), she soon began official doula training with a midwife. Since then, Sarah has been serving families all over Tennessee as a doula and midwife-in-training and says, “I will never get over this work I get to do!”
In her gentle but powerful way, Sarah shares about:
How homeschooling helped her find her career path
Her perspective about natural birth
Body image and the power of women’s bodies
The importance of community
Her top nourishing practices for health and wellness
…And so much more
This episode is a celebration of all women and the strength we possess.

A Messy Beautiful Year
Let’s kick “new year, new you” to the curb - instead of neat, tidy goal lists, let’s approach the new year another way. How about just be yourself this year, but healthier and more rooted in what matters most? How about instead of perfection, we embrace the messiness of life and find the beauty in that?
In this episode, we talk about how to distinguish between the messes that DO need to be cleaned up in our homes, families, jobs, relationships, souls…and which ones are holy messes - signs of our beautiful humanity.
Let’s walk into the new year not by adopting passing fads or trends but by adding new facets to our lives that are nourishing for the long haul.
Down here in the mess, there is growth through struggle, and perhaps that’s the most lasting kind.

Meaningfully Busy
So…is being “busy” OK or not? For so long, I’ve shunned the idea of busyness, when I have actually enjoyed being busy when it’s about things that are life-giving and purposeful. Who knew?
In this episode, I share a quote from another author that led me to an a-ha moment that deeply impacted me. I couldn't wait to share it with you. I unpack the idea of busyness and share a key practice that has been helping me to enjoy this very full season of life without giving into chaos and frenzy.
We CAN take control of our days and structure them in a way that is life-giving, even when they’re full to the brim! JOIN ME, and let’s figure it out together.

Fall Gathering Series Part 5: Return to the Table
Why, if nourishing ourselves and each other is one of the most important things we can do as human beings, would we allow so many other things to replace it?
Let’s not be in danger of losing something elemental that holds us together - returning to the table.
In this final part of my Fall Gathering Series, we talk about why it’s so important not to lose momentum after you’ve gone through the effort of inviting people in. I share some key ways to move forward and tips that have helped me.
Then, I tell a story from my life-changing trip to Italy and what I learned from an unforgettable experience in a village surrounded by olive and lemon groves. 🫒🍋

Eat Your Flowers: The Magical World of Honeybees with Sarah Gilliam
Join me for another delightful conversation with my multi-talented friend Sarah Gilliam, community advocate, beekeeper, photographer, believer in flower power, and homesteader raising her family just up the road from our farm. And this time, we’re talking about the magical world of HONEYBEES! 🐝✨
We recorded this on Sarah’s dreamy porch at her home in Hilltown, TN. As an experienced beekeeper of 10 years, Sarah shares her wisdom and beekeeping stories. If you’re already into beekeeping, or if you literally know nothing about bees, you’ll learn so much from this episode about what these truly miraculous creatures can teach us and how they draw us together in community. Sarah also provides you with realistic ways YOU can support bees and other pollinators, right where you are.
Listen for all the authentic country sounds of nature and birdsong in the background, two interludes where her fluffy orange cat walks across my laptop (#homesteadproblems), and a little sound clip at the end of Sarah’s own bees in her apiary. We couldn’t resist throwing in some un-bee-lievably corny bee puns, too. 😆
P.S. My previous conversation with Sarah, Cultivating Community and Home, is one of the most popular episodes on this podcast!

Choosing to Turn Towards Each Other with Courtney Bareman
We want close and meaningful relationships with our spouse and children, but how do we intentionally pursue them in the midst of everyday life? And how about taking time for personal growth when we’re juggling so many other things?
You’re going to love this vulnerable conversation with my friend, Courtney Bareman! Courtney is a mother of four (from toddler to teenager) and certified Enneagram coach, and she has worked in ministry with her husband, Derek, for 20+ years. When we first met through our local church, her authenticity and fun personality drew me in from day one.
In this episode, Courtney teaches us about the “third way” of living, “kairos” moments, and why counseling and “deep work” are healthy things for all of us to pursue. She also shares solid examples of ways we can turn towards our spouse and kids in the middle of the fulness and messiness of daily life.
LISTEN IN, and be inspired and equipped to cultivate meaningful connections with the important people in your life!

Salt Water Heals
Tears, sweat, ocean water…3 facets of salt water that can heal us inside and out. In this episode, I share some lessons I learned this summer with all three, including a surprising release of tears that made me feel buoyant, like I had just been released from a great weight. 🌊
Instead of going through life holding in emotions or burdens like we tend to do, we can embrace the ways God created nature to soothe us and made our bodies to process emotions in ways that are cleansing, healing and FREEING. 💧
If you’ve been feeling heavy and weighed down, it’s time to shed some burdens - JOIN ME!

Cultivating Community & Home with Sarah Gilliam
Meet my multi-talented friend Sarah Gilliam, community advocate, beekeeper, photographer, believer in flower power, and homesteader raising her family of four just up the road from us in an area of Santa Fe, TN called Hilltown. 🌼
Since I first met her, I've seen how Sarah truly embodies the word “community.” Not just in a general sense, but in the nitty-gritty way - using her voice, getting her hands-dirty, loving her neighbors, working to make her community a better place.
In this episode, you’ll hear about Sarah’s upbringing in the local TN countryside to parents who fostered a culture of kindness, immersed in music, raising animals, gardening, and respect and love of the land.
Some of the topics we talk about:
- Living a slower lifestyle on purpose
- How purposeful hard work benefits our lives
- Why bees and trees are amazing
- How you can be a part of your own community advocacy
- Why starting small is a great way to start making a difference
LISTEN IN, and let Sarah inspire you to invest in your own community, live more slowly on purpose, bring back some of the skills and practices of past generations, and maybe even take the leap toward your own homesteading dreams. 🌿

Need to grab hold of some peace in your day? Then join me in this episode recorded underneath the palm trees of South Florida to the backdrop of a thunderstorm! I describe the unique tropical landscape, walk you through an experience of using all five senses, and share about the life of naturalist Marjory Stoneman Douglas as well as some of the flora and fauna near the Everglades. 🌴 While I recorded this episode, a morning thunderstorm came rolling behind me, rained on me, and then cleared into a golden morning with blue sky again. I hope listening to this helps you to be more present like it did for me. 💚

Sudden Journeys with Kyle Campbell
Be encouraged to dream. To confidently walk out your unique story. To invite people in authentically. To fulfill your longing to explore where you live...and maybe risk a journey to inspiring places you've never seen before...
Ahh, get ready. In this episode, one of my favorites so far, I get to chat with professional photographer and travel guide throughout Europe and the U.K., and my dear friend of 15 years - Kyle Campbell of Sudden Journeys.
Kyle was able to join me in the barn studio recently while she was in the U.S. visiting friends and family, thousands of miles away from where she lives in an enchanting 1700s cottage in the English countryside. But before she lived overseas, Kyle and I spent many years as friends in both Texas and Tennessee. I know her deep well of creativity, wisdom, and passion will inspire you, just as she’s made an indelible mark on my life for so many years!
Just a few of the topics we discuss:
Keeping your creative “self” alive in the midst of mothering and marriage
The incredible uniqueness of the travel experiences Kyle offers
Reclaiming beauty and joy after loss
Creating a sense of welcome around the table, wherever you live
Be sure to listen to the end to hear about a “sudden journey” Kyle and I recently took together! 💫
Originally from Tennessee, Kyle has made a life as a wayfaring soul. After graduating from Savannah College of Art & Design, Kyle bought a one-way ticket for Florence, Italy, where she immersed herself in the Italian language and culture and the art of ‘dolce far niente’… the art of doing nothing.
After a 15-year career with several travel agencies as a destination specialist, tour director, and travel guide across Europe, Kyle launched Sudden Journeys in 2018.
When she’s not exploring new places, you can find her in her garden, cooking a feast for friends, or continuing her work as a professional photographer.
Kyle lives in an 18th-century farmhouse set in the idyllic English countryside with her husband, two teenagers, Simba the cat… and possibly a few Victorian ghosts.

The No-Edit Life with Steven Bailey (part 2)
My favorite person is BACK on the podcast this week, and once again, there was no plan beforehand for what to talk about, and there are NO EDITS! 🫢 Join me for another fun conversation with my fellow farmer and adventurer, inspiring entrepreneur and insanely talented chef - my husband, Steven Bailey.
For this episode, we sat down again here in the barn studio on Kindred Farm - this time with some good quality bourbon with a farm-fresh twist (listen to find out what it is!). In this completely freestyle convo, we share about our recent family-friendly dinner on the farm, adventures in cabbage-harvesting and kimchi-making, heritage experiences, and why it’s so important to embrace failure if you want to have success at anything.
You’ll also hear some behind-the scenes in his life as a chef and life on a working farm.
A few of the topics we chat about in this episode:
How kimchi was harvested & made in a remote South Korean village where Steven’s mom grew up
Why it’s important for all of us to keep alive heirloom, heritage, hands-on experiences
The importance of taking the “long way around”
How to know when it’s okay to quit something
The synergy of a group of people working together to build something together
Why it’s important NOT to wait to start inviting people in and pursuing your dreams, whatever those may be
This episode will inspire you to DREAM but also give you ideas to take ACTION, right where you are. LISTEN IN!
We have SO much more to talk about, so you’ll definitely be hearing Steven again on the podcast in the near future!
Steven Bailey, a.k.a. The Korean Farmer, is a private chef, regenerative farmer, menu-creator, and farm-to-table consultant. Raised by a mother from the rice fields of South Korea and a father who grew up on a North Carolina tobacco farm, Chef Steven has been trained by his taste buds and unique Korean/Southern cultural heritage rooted in food and agriculture. As a private chef for his weekly clients and special occasion dinners, Steven crafts creative and inspiring food - from kimchi tacos to hand cut pappardelle, and everything in between. Steven attended Baylor University where he began cooking and baking and was probably the only guy in his fraternity to own a Kitchen Aid Mixer.
Beautiful & Terrible
Despite our best efforts to build lives for ourselves that are always smooth and problem-free, life still contains the contrasts - the co-existence of polarities like light and heavy, comfortable and difficult, beautiful and terrible. What do we do with this tension? In this episode, I explore a favorite Frederick Buechner quote that’s inspired me for years and share a story of a time I could have let fear overcome me.
Instead of being tempted to live in fear and “pad” our lives to avoid risk, we can move forward in hope and choose to see the light breaking through. The tension of life is unavoidable - let’s learn to embrace this truth and live more fully through it. JOIN ME!

My Sourdough Journey
Here’s your reminder today to NOT give up.
It’s so easy to throw in the towel when we feel like we don’t know what we’re doing. Quitting might seem easier in the moment, but does it really serve us in the long run? And why does it matter to keep persevering in the small things?
Join me in this episode sharing my sourdough bread-making escapades - from the complete failures to the eventual, glorious success - a success I would never have had if I hadn’t kept going.
📝 I also share several sourdough bread-making tips I’ve learned along the way so YOU can hopefully avoid some of the mistakes I made!
I was a novice when it came to sourdough and had no idea what I was doing at first, but the last 6 months of deciding to keep going have been so worth it. Whatever your challenge is today, this episode will encourage you to keep persevering, in big and small ways.

From the Outside: An Empty Greenhouse
This episode is from my “From The Outside” series, where I record an episode OUTSIDE to share with you ~ either from a spot on the farm or elsewhere. 🌿 These episodes are shorter and focused on soaking up the beauty of the outdoors and engaging all five of our senses.
Today, I’m back in our 6’x10’ mini seed-starting greenhouse here on Kindred Farm, but this time, the greenhouse is EMPTY.
From my little perch next to a seed table that once held trays with thousands of seeds that are now planted in the field, I share the symbolism of this empty space. There is a mix of feelings when releasing something and entering a new season of growth. I also share a spring dinnertime meal I loved and some other discoveries. Manna
What do we do in seasons that feel chaotic and overwhelming? If you’re like me, you might find yourself giving in to the chaos, skipping too far ahead, getting paralyzed by the details and to-dos.
But that’s not how we’re meant to meet the challenges we face in life.
In this episode, I share a story of something important I learned in the month of May two years ago, that there is so much peace to be found when we stop grasping and instead receive just what we need for this day, this moment - like manna.
If you have no idea what manna is, you’ll learn about that too. 😊 As usual, I share a gratefulness practice at the end, and this one is inspired by a recent trip back to my hometown. For a breath of fresh inspiration, listen in! 🍃

The No-Edit Life with Steven Bailey (part 1)
My favorite person is on the podcast this week, and there are NO EDITS! 🫢 Join me for a fun conversation with my fellow farmer and adventurer, inspiring entrepreneur and insanely talented chef - my husband, Steven Bailey. For this episode, we sat down late one night in the barn studio here on Kindred Farm with a bottle of our favorite wine to share some thoughts about our spring farm-to-table dinner that we hosted last weekend...and so much more.
We had zero plan for what to talk about, so what we share in this freestyle convo is what you get to hear! We pull back the curtain on how and why we do farm dinners and on Steven’s full-time work as a private chef. This episode will inspire you to embrace imperfection, take risks outside your comfort zone, and live with more boldness and authenticity, right where you are. LISTEN IN!
A few of the topics we chat about in this episode:
What is it about an experience that makes it “magical?”
How you can host people in an authentic, welcoming way in your own space
Why being pushed outside our comfort zones is an absolute necessity
Engaging kids of all ages without screens
A key element of “kindred” that’s different from other experiences
I’m excited to bring Steven back on the pod in the near future for more “no-edit” episodes, so stay tuned!

Rootedness and Wanderlust with Sara Janssen
The internet can be used for good, my friends! Meet Sara Janssen, a.k.a. Nesting Gypsy, whose vibrance, creativity, fun recipes, and wholehearted joy have inspired me online over 18 years! A few weeks ago, we finally got to meet in person for the first time when she and her family came here to Kindred Farm. Of course I had to take the opportunity to sit down with her in the barn studio and capture some of her fascinating story to share with you!
Sara and her family’s journey began by traveling in a VW Bus, then in an RV run on vegetable oil, and continues now in their 13th motorhome that they take around the country for family adventures…that is, when they’re not renovating their 1895 South Dakota farmhouse and growing lush flower gardens on their own prairieland!
Woven throughout, you’ll hear how Sara cultivates both her sense of home and her spirit of wanderlust with her family by her side.
Just a few of the questions/topics we cover in this episode:
How Sara used the internet to create real-life community
Sara and Matt’s creative solution for traveling on a tight budget when they first started out
The beauty of “ordinary days” and importance of cultivating home
The benefits of sharing meals with strangers
The benefits of bringing our kids along on adventures and socializing them with people of different ages, backgrounds, cultures
Sara’s favorite places she’s traveled over the years
LISTEN IN, and be inspired to add more adventure, beauty, and healthy rhythms to your life, wherever you are. 🌈
Sara Janssen and her husband Matt have been married for 23 years and have spent almost half of those years traveling around the country in their motorhome! They have now settled into an 1895 farmhouse on the prairielands of South Dakota, where they homeschool their 3 daughters and enjoy 21 acres of woods and wildflowers. Sara is an Air Force veteran, an accomplished photographer and writer, and a lover of all things gardening and green.

Be Delighted
What is delightful about your life? Your spouse? Your children? Your home? Sometimes it’s easier to go through our days with a spirit of dread rather than delight, especially in the midst of seasons that feel really heavy. Being delighted means choosing to embrace wonder. To exchange a spirit of heaviness for buoyancy. To let ourselves have fun. To be reminded of the beautiful things about this world, even in the midst of hard times.
We all need this.
In this episode, I share a story about a time I realized I was living in dread instead of delight and how I shifted my perspective. I also share a gratefulness practice at the end and lots of gardening inspo! For a breath of fresh air, listen in!

Cultivating a Unique Family Culture with Christy Crosby
How can we create an intentional, life-giving culture of connection in our home that is unique to our family? How can we parent from a place of confidence rather than fear of messing up our kids, or of the world messing up our kids?
My dear friend of 28 years, Christy Crosby, rejoins me on this episode where we come back together to share some ideas on shaping a unique and healthy family culture in our homes. We cover all different ages and stages of childhood, through teen years and even into young adulthood. Moms, we can make it through the hard seasons of parenting. We can reject the narrative that parenting teenagers or toddlers (or whatever you want to insert here!) is something to dread. We can live in joy and carve out the lives we want for our families.
You all loved episode 18 where Christy and I discussed cultivating deeper friendships, and there are SO many more gems in this episode you won’t want to miss!
Just a few of the questions/topics we cover in this episode:
- How being curious about your children involves them in the process of creating a unique family culture
- How to reclaim some ground if you’re not happy with the family culture you’ve been building
- Establishing a team mentality within your family, even as you celebrate each unique individual
- Tips for building trust and having hard conversations with our kids
- Parenting with the end in mind
- Parenting from proactivity rather than reactivity
We end with some prompts to reflect upon as you shape a unique family culture in your home. If you want to GROW and find encouragement on your parenting journey, JOIN US!
Christy Crosby serves on the staff of Grace Community Church in Clarksville, TN in women’s ministry and outreach and on the MomLife Ministries Board of Directors as President. She's been married for 23 years to her high school sweetheart and is a mom of two - a daughter who is a college sophomore and a son who is a high school freshman. She finds so much joy in this season of parenting and describes herself as a life-long learner who loves to read, listen to podcasts, and ask questions about all the things. Christy loves finding God’s beauty in the arts, so she’s always up for a good concert or theatre production. On a rainy day you can find her knitting with a cup of good coffee.

Let Your Heart Break
This is not what I planned to release this week, but it’s what’s on my heart immediately after the Covenant School shooting which directly touches so many of my friends here in Nashville. It’s also what I’ve been wanting to share about suffering in general, as so many people around me are walking through hard things. We will all at certain times have the privilege of being “reservoirs of compassion for those who are bruised” (Psalm 84), and at other times, we will be the ones who need comforting.
As we experience suffering in our midst, this episode is here for you, whenever you need it.

Cultivating Deeper Friendships with Christy Crosby
We all want to be loved and known in friendships. And also? Friendships are hard. For this special episode, one of my dearest friends in the entire world, Christy Crosby, joins me in the barn studio! And we’re chatting about everything we’ve learned in our unlikely 28-year-long (!) friendship that started in college when a country music-loving Tennessee cowgirl met a rap music-loving Jersey girl.
Christy and I have a lot to share from our friendship that spans several states, seasons, and life stages. Our hope is that YOU can take some of these ideas and cultivate deeper friendships where you are.
Just a few of the questions we answer in this episode:
- What characteristics make a really strong friendship?
- What does “mature transparency” look like in friendships?
- What do you do when it seems like everyone else already has their people, and you don’t?
- How to keep a friendship going with longevity, even if you’re in different life stages
- Why some friendships are cultivated more like annual plants and some more like perennials
- Why I wore such an embarrassing Halloween costume our freshman year at Belmont 🤭
If you want to GROW in your friendships and find encouragement for challenges that friendships face, JOIN US!

This episode was recorded in our mini 6’x10’ seed-starting greenhouse here on Kindred Farm. From my little perch sandwiched next to zinnia, kale, and cabbage seedlings, I share what’s on my heart right now about environmentalism as I weave in some inspiring nature quotes. Audacious Growth
Audacity = "a willingness to take bold risks." Without some audacity, we won’t ever take the steps that are needed to bring our visions and gifts to the world. We must have faith and belief that there is room in the world for what we’ve each been given to grow and create…even through the struggle, uncertainty, and scars we’ll experience along the way.
In this episode, I share a quote from a memoir that inspired me, my own “Ode to the Growing Season,” and some prompts to help you build a nourishing vision in your own life, right where you are. Listen in!

Purposeful Hands
When is the last time you thought about your own two hands and how they help you function in the world? Have you even looked at them lately?
After a day of starting spring seeds here on the farm, I’m reflecting on the balance of work, rest and play: we can get our hands dirty and also stop to find healing, slowness, and nourishment. I share a personal story about learning to care better for myself when it’s so easy to just keep plowing through. From gardening, to taking care of our children or homes, to fun hobbies, to all the work set before us, our hands do so much. We need to stop and see the purpose in that.
LISTEN IN, and take a few moments with me to stop, notice, and dream!

Pruning Time
Pruning can be painful, but what if the pruning is uncovering beauty that’s been there all along but just hidden by unnecessary or unhealthy things? None of us wants to go through the discomfort of being pruned, but sometimes we need to eliminate some things to make room, to let our lives breathe.
As we approach early spring, it’s time to prune our fruit trees on the farm. In this episode, I share a story from the day one of our larger trees got pruned and the deeper, important lessons I learned that day. We look at how pruning could be removing good branches now to make way for more health and fruitfulness in the future.
And as usual, we have a gratefulness practice at the end that will leave you with an opportunity to see the small moments of joy in your everyday life.
For a breath of fresh inspiration, listen in! 💛

From the Outside: Forest of Fun
This episode is from our “From The Outside” series, where I record an episode OUTSIDE to share with you ~ either from a spot on the farm or elsewhere. 🌿 These episodes are shorter and focused on soaking up the beauty outdoors and engaging all five of our senses. This episode was recorded in the Forest of Fun by the creek on our farm. 🏞️ From my spot on a blanket in the forest, I share everything from an inspiring excerpt in a book I'm reading, to my favorite overalls, to the best outdoor swings for kids, to ways to engage people of all ages outside.
So grab your own spot outside, and join me!

Showing Up
When is a time you felt really “seen?” In this episode, we explore the topic of vulnerability and how we can “host” people by showing up in our raw, authentic selves. Showing up in our vulnerability imparts a gift. And it opens us up to see other people who might be getting lost in the crowd.
In the name of vulnerability, I share a kinda embarrassing story about when I met one of my favorite authors, what I learned, and what I would have done differently if I’d had the chance. 🫣 As usual, we have a gratefulness practice at the end that will leave you with an opportunity to engage in your own life.

Use Your Voice
What does your voice, your “song” sound like?
We all have a song to sing - the unique God-given voice, gifts, and perspective we have to offer the world. Sometimes we sing for pure joy, and sometimes we sing because we have to - for survival. The song is full of grit and beauty, and it’s unique to each of us.
In this episode, I share 3 challenges that have helped me to sharpen my voice, a favorite St. Augustine poem, and as usual, a gratefulness practice at the end that will leave you with a breath of fresh inspiration.
If you’re someone who finds it challenging to use your voice - or you’re in relationship with someone who is - this is a great episode for you. Listen in! 💛

Let's Get Uncomfortable
We all love being uncomfortable, right? 😏 Not so much. But part of learning new things is being willing to be uncomfortable, to embrace the learning curve. In this episode, I share some stories about times I’ve had to learn to be okay with being uncomfortable and what I’ve learned and am continuing to learn in the process. We talk about why the EASY and QUICK way is not always the best way. By learning not to shy away from uncomfortable situations, we can experience a deeper level of gratitude and some important lessons right in the middle of the mess.
As usual, you’re invited to join in a gratefulness practice at the end, and - surprise! - my youngest daughter is joining in this portion of the episode to share some thoughts with you! 💌

What I Learned in 2022
Living another year of life is no small thing - it’s a great privilege - so let’s not rush too quickly into the next year without first looking back to notice what we’ve learned and how we’ve grown.
“I will not squander my freedom by living timidly.” This is a phrase that was at the forefront of my mind as I began 2022. How did it turn out? In this episode, I reflect back on a pivotal year and what I learned about living more boldly this year, albeit imperfectly. I also highlight 4 specific things (among many) that I learned this year.
As usual, I share a gratefulness practice at the end and invite you to join me. LISTEN IN, and breathe in some fresh inspiration, right where you are.
