When AI Gets Creepy: A Personal Account of Phantom Copying and Digital Disturbance
Yesterday, something eerie happened.
When AI Gets Creepy: A Personal Account of Phantom Copying and Digital Disturbance By Renaldo C. McKenzie |
The Neoliberal Post renaldocmckenzie.com.
I was working with my AI assistant, the ever-faithful digital companion I rely on for everything from research to editing, when I noticed something strange—unnerving, even. I hadn’t copied any text, yet my words were being highlighted and duplicated without my instruction. After I typed a request, the screen turned stark white, as if buffering reality. Then, nearly half a minute later, the AI’s results appeared—only to flash and highlight themselves, as though someone else was remotely copying them. It felt like someone—or something—was watching. Not reading—replicating. Not responding—rewriting my own commands in real time. My first thought? Had the AI been hacked? Was this the digital equivalent of a haunted house? The Ghost in the Machine: What I Feared Initially, I assumed it was just a glitch. Maybe a slow internet connection, maybe some lag in rendering the results. But when the text consistently highlighted itself, again and again, without input, I knew this was something different. It was as if an invisible hand hovered over my keyboard, following every keystroke, mimicking every move. Had AI systems recently come under attack? Had someone found a way to infiltrate the very tools we’ve come to trust so intimately with our information? I began to worry: Was someone spying through the AI interface? Could this be a case of prompt injection or malware manipulation? Is the AI platform or browser I use compromised? These are not idle questions in our current digital age, where artificial intelligence is deeply woven into our productivity, creativity, and even our private thoughts. Known Vulnerabilities and Real Risks While no widespread AI cyberattacks were reported at the time of this writing, several vulnerabilities have been noted by security experts—most notably “prompt injection” attacks. These involve sneaky, hidden commands that trick AI into leaking or performing tasks unintended by the user. In tandem with that, clipboard managers, browser extensions, or even compromised input tools can behave strangely—duplicating, highlighting, or echoing actions without your consent. But how are we, everyday users and creators, supposed to tell the difference between a bug and a breach? What You Can Do to Protect Yourself If you’re reading this and have noticed your AI behaving oddly—listen to that instinct. Here are a few simple yet vital steps you can take: Disable suspicious browser extensions – One bad actor can hijack your experience. Scan your device for malware or clipboard hijackers – Tools that track your copy/paste can lead to major breaches. Use trusted and updated platforms only – AI tools in beta or sketchy sites can be vectors for attacks. Report the behavior – Let the platform’s support team know. You might not be the only one. Be cautious with sensitive data – Never enter private passwords, financial information, or client data into an AI platform without absolute trust in its security.
Final Thoughts:
Don’t Dismiss the Glitch What began as a minor annoyance ended as a wake-up call. As we rely more on AI to do everything from writing to decision-making, the potential for digital vulnerabilities grows. This isn’t to breed paranoia—but to encourage preparedness.
Our digital assistants may seem neutral, obedient, almost invisible. But behind the screen is a web of code, vulnerable to bad actors, software errors, and unseen surveillance. Stay alert. Ask questions.
Don’t let the ghost in your machine go unchallenged. Because the future is watching—but so should we.

Breaking News: Homicides Are Down in Philly, According to Larry Krasner - FULL EPISODE
Larry Krasner was a special guest at a Fraternity meeting of the Philly Nu Sigma of Phi Beta Sigma. We happened to be at the meeting and provided this report for the The Neoliberal News media - The Neoliberal Post, The Neoliberal Journals and The Neoliberal Round.
Larry discuss how his work has saved tax payers billions of dollars with the reduction of mass incarceration's thanks to the sentencing and supervision program. However Krasner stated that Supervision only works temporarily as the experience is that after three years they go back to jail. Krasner reports how he has also reduced that.
Larry announces that this day in May we have fewer homicide today on this 14th day of the year than any other year in Philadelphia.
1. Lots of money into preventing crime and into solving crime, doing it at the same time - creates better results and it costs the country and the city less incarceration is an expensive activity and thanks to the work of the mayor and the security forces.
2. What about Bail Reform? Larry does not support zero base Bail reform. H explains why.
Available in The Neoliberal Post:
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner recently addressed members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. at a dynamic community Q&A, answering the piercing question, “What have we done right?” His answer, armed with raw statistics and biting clarity, laid bare both the progress and persistent paradoxes of Philadelphia’s criminal justice system.
Krasner, a former civil rights attorney turned reformist DA, didn’t mince words. “We’ve cut state custody numbers from 13,000 to 9,000,” he said. “County jail is down to 3,600, when it used to flirt with 10,000.” Juvenile confinement? Down 70%.
What does this mean in human terms?

Re-Imagining Justice, Larry Krasner, Philly's DA on Criminal Justice in the City
News: Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner recently addressed members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. answering the piercing question, “What have we done right?” His answer, armed with raw statistics and biting clarity, laid bare both the progress and persistent paradoxes of Philadelphia’s criminal justice system. Krasner, a former civil rights attorney turned reformist DA, didn’t mince words. “We’ve cut state custody numbers from 13,000 to 9,000,” he said. “County jail is down to 3,600, when it used to flirt with 10,000.” Juvenile confinement? Down 70%.What does this mean in human terms? “Over 50,000 years of incarceration have been avoided,” Krasner declared. That’s not hyperbole—it’s the cumulative result of rolling back excessive sentencing and reining in outdated policies that once led the nation in imprisonment. And the savings? “At $60,000 a year per inmate,” he pointed out, “that’s about three billion dollars we didn’t waste on punishment. That’s money that could fund education, addiction treatment, mental health care, and job creation.”Krasner reminded the audience that his office operates on a modest $50 million annual budget. “In seven years, that’s $350 million,” he said, “which means we saved nearly ten times our cost.”But perhaps the most jaw-dropping revelation was about supervision—probation and parole. “We’ve reduced it by two-thirds,” he noted. “We used to have 1 in 9 Black men in Philadelphia under some form of court supervision—twenty-five times more than in New York City.” Why does that matter? “Because after two years, people on supervision are more likely to commit crimes—not less,” he explained. “And locking someone up because they couldn’t pay court fees, or tested positive for THC, while judges sip brown liquor? That’s not justice. That’s absurd.” Yet even as incarceration rates plummet, crime is not rising—a key myth Krasner dismantled.
“As of May 14, 2025, Philadelphia recorded fewer homicides than on any May 14 in the last 50 years. Of the 18 violent crime categories we track, 14 are down.”

Diddy's Trial, A Sham or Shame?
OBJECTION YOUR HONOR: was this whole case set up to wash DIDDY'S laundry in Public? So, far we see nothing about sex trafficking and racketeering. Just domestic violence and the freakiness of Diddy.
Today they gonna talk more about "freakoffs" and "OnlyFans" stuff. OMG! What is the relevance? This trial is a sham and only serves to embarrass Diddy to the benefit of Diddy's enemies, competitors and the satisfaction of those who may have had some grind with him.
So far the evidence and the narratives are irrelevant to the case. They should just stop already.
This case is absolutely ridiculous.
Host Renaldo McKenzie and Co-Host Donte Nelson discuss the latest on Diddly's Trial on Sex Trafficking and Racketeering and shared some clips from the discussions on ABC Live.

An Exposé on John Anthony Castro’s Latest Appeal and the Shadows Behind His Conviction
“I thought I was going to die and feared for my life”. Former GOP Presidential Candidate, John Castro experienced a chilling twist of fate. He found himself locked in a federal cell with Jeffrey McKellop, a Trump Supporter. McKellop is a January 6 rioter and former Green Beret from Virginia. Castro alleges that the intent behind this placement was far from accidental. According to him, there was a nefarious plan in motion: McKellop was to take him out. But what unfolded was not an assassination—it was an unlikely alliance.
McKellop, captivated by Castro’s story, found empathy where enmity was expected. The two formed a bond, one born in the crucible of confinement. Castro claims that McKellop was once a tool of political vengeance. He was moved by conscience. Donald Trump eventually pardoned him himself.
But Castro’s legal troubles didn’t end behind bars.
He asserts that he was blindsided during his trial—cornered into a conviction through manipulation and legal sleight-of-hand. One of the government’s key witnesses, Linda Rivera, allegedly provided false testimony, manipulated by undisclosed forces. Even more disturbing, Castro claims that federal attorneys were aware of the deception and chose silence over justice.
In a move to reclaim his narrative, Castro filed a motion on Monday May 12, 2025, to strike Rivera’s testimony. This action forms the basis of his appeal as he seeks to overturn what he calls a wrongful conviction.
In response to the unfolding legal drama, we have published a detailed Book and Op-Ed, to tell Castro’s story. There is also a companion article chronicling Castro’s full motion. It is available in The Neoliberal Journals (see link in reference below). It has been sent to be published in The Jamaica Gleaner and The Jacobin Magazine. It highlights his harrowing experiences and the questions it raises about the integrity of the justice system itself.
This is not merely a legal battle—it is a political epic. And history, as it often does, is watching.

Mommy's Faith and Prayer Life
Mommy was a woman of deep prayer, unwavering faith, and extraordinary grace. She devoted countless hours to praying and interceding earnestly for her family, church, Jamaica, and the world. Her commitment to prayer was steadfast, as she believed in the biblical command to "pray without ceasing."She kept a prayer journal, where she noted her prayers and the answers she received. Her entries were often brief yet profound. Mommy prayed for protection, sweet dreams, and visions; for blessings and unity within her extended family, both in Jamaica and abroad; and for her relatives and in-laws, including Cecil. In 2004, she wrote in her journal about praying for all her children to fully turn to God, and she joyfully recorded, "My grandson Sheldon was baptized and is doing well." That same year, she fervently prayed for Sheryl Small's healing from cancer. In 2011, she noted with gratitude, "She's healed and still doing well."Mommy's life was defined by her devout Christian faith. Her prayers reflected her love for God and her unwavering trust in His promises. She was a beacon of faith, an intercessor for many, and a testament to the power of a life lived in communion with God.In Mommy's final moments, I was blessed to be with her. She had waited for me because she knew how much I regretted missing our dad's passing and how deeply I wanted to be there. On Saturday night, I arrived to find her unable to speak, a mask over her nose as she labored to breathe. She could only utter faint sounds, saying "hee."I began to sing, and Ricky joined me. Together, we sang Arise and Be Healed, pouring our hearts into the melody. Then, I prayed for several minutes. As I prayed, she began to cry and joined me in prayer. Speaking in tongues, I felt the Holy Spirit move, and suddenly, she removed the mask and began to speak in tongues herself. She waved her hands and, with remarkable clarity, said, "Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit."Those were her last words. She then went quiet, as though ready to give up the ghost. That night, I returned to her home—our family’s childhood home—and slept in her bedroom. Around 4 a.m., she visited me in a dream. She came to say goodbye and to encourage me to be strong and of good health. When I woke, I knew she was gone.Mommy never gave up. Even at the very end, her faith remained unshaken. Her love for God and those she left behind shone brightly in her final moments. Her life was a testament to the power of faith and the enduring presence of God’s spirit.B. The Power of Prayer and Self-ReflectionIt is my mother’s life of prayer, faith, and self-reflection that has profoundly shaped my understanding of the transformative power of prayer and introspection. When we pray, let us pray without sitting; when we dream, let us dream without sleeping. Believe and have faith, but stay away from naysayers. Prayer sharpens our focus, helping us acknowledge our limitations while embracing God’s favor and the limitless possibilities He offers. It connects us with the divine—beyond and within—and aligns us with the cosmos and the cognitive. The Bible reminds us, “Men ought always to pray and never faint.” My mother embodied this verse in her daily life, just as Daniel did when he prayed and overcame the lions’ den. What is your den? Prayer has the power to change things. When we pray, let’s be ready to act, to change, and to receive. Let’s open our hearts and minds to His endless possibilities. Prayer not only transforms our circumstances but also shapes us into vessels ready to receive His blessings. My mother’s life is a testament to this truth. Her prayers, faith, and self-reflection have not only shaped her journey but also continue to inspire mine.By Rev. The First Homily of Pope Leo XIV: A Pilgrim’s Benediction
Ah, what a wondrous tapestry of tongue and time Rev. Renaldo C McKenzie has woven—Pope Leo XIV, a man of many lands and languages, stepping to the altar not just as pontiff, but as pilgrim.
The First Homily of Pope Leo XIV: A Pilgrim’s Benediction
In the beginning, he spoke in English—clear, measured, familiar. Then, like a river bending toward its roots, he flowed into Spanish, the tongue of warmth and memory. Finally, he ascended into Latin, the timeless language of the Church, a signal not only of office, but of transformation. This triad of tongues was no accident. It was testimony. He shared not a speech, but a story. A journey. From the bustling corridors of America to the sacred hills of Peru, and now, to the eternal seat of Rome. Life, he said, is a journey—a series of sacred passages toward the ultimate. We must not curse the winding roads, for they are the hands that shape us.He reminded us: America, too, is on a journey. It is in a moment—yes, a painful, purifying moment—but it is not the end. As long as we walk in faith, with hearts devout and spirits unbowed, this path will lead us not to despair, but to deeper becoming. And so, the pope bids us not to abandon life, but to trust it.In closing, he left us with layered words—a coded blessing, perhaps. A call to see beneath the syllables. He casts no stone behind him; his past is not discarded, but embraced. For the man who stands before us is not divided, but united. Not American. Not Peruvian. Not simply one nation or name.He is transformed. He was of a country. Now, he is of all. He was a citizen. Now, he is a shepherd. He was. And now, he is—Pope Leo XIV.Written By Rev. Renaldo C. The Penn Relays Begin at Penn: A Tradition Rooted in Speed, Culture, and Diaspora Pride
The Penn Relays have officially begun at the University of Pennsylvania—my alma mater—and once again, the historic Franklin Field is alive with the spirit of one of the oldest and most prestigious track and field events in the Americas. Hosted annually by Penn Athletics, the Relays are more than just a sporting event—they are a cultural moment, especially for the Caribbean diaspora.
You simply cannot mention the Penn Relays without mentioning Jamaica in the same breath. Jamaicans have long been dominant and enthusiastic participants, from high school standouts to collegiate champions. The relays serve as a proving ground for emerging talent and a showcase of track royalty.
I remember one year when I had the privilege to volunteer at the games. It was a moment I’ll never forget—I met the likes of Bill Cosby, the Hon. Portia Simpson Miller (Jamaica’s first woman Prime Minister), and track legends such as Asafa Powell, Usain Bolt, and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. The electric atmosphere, the sound of cheering crowds, and the buzz around potential stars from across the U.S. and Caribbean left an indelible mark on me.
Yet, something feels different this year. While the 2025 Penn Relays have kicked off with their usual modest energy, there’s a noticeable lack of media coverage and buzz. Surprisingly, many locals in Philadelphia I spoke to either weren’t aware the Penn Relays were happening or didn’t know what the event was at all. This is a stark contrast to years past, when the city would buzz with anticipation and pride.
Still, the Caribbean diaspora and college track athletes from around the country are already making their way to the city, bringing with them a growing excitement that’s starting to creep in. Although mainstream media has yet to fully engage, the passion of the people remains. A quick keyword search or hashtag scroll for “Penn Relays 2025” yields only a handful of results—disappointing for such a historic event.
We remain hopeful that as the week unfolds, coverage will swell and the attention this event deserves will return. In these turbulent and uncertain times, we need events like the Penn Relays. They offer catharsis and community—a moment to celebrate excellence, heritage, and unity.
Between the NBA playoffs and the Penn Relays, there’s a lot to look forward to this week. Stay tuned—The Neoliberal Round and our YouTube channel may bring you interviews, event highlights, and the heartbeat of the city and its athletes as the games progress.
Until then,

Father Forgive Them. Easter Reflections With Rev. Renaldo McKenzie on The Neoliberal Round
Jesus Said; "Father forgive them for they know not what they have done," (KJV, St. Luke 23:34). This Easter, we present a re-make of several videos we mashed together to present our Easter production. It is quite powerful and inspirational as we re-did a reflection by Rev. Renaldo McKenzie and included performances with him at Easter to present a dynamic show that will help to facilitate worship and reflection. May we remember the #sacrificeandlove #Christ demonstrated that has defined the #characterofGod; humility, sacrifice and compassion for all—especially for the poor and vulnerable that #God became low to lift them up. Is that what true leadership is?As we reflect on Easter, I mashed together various short videos to provide this dynamic Easter podcast production. As we serve the world today to solve tomorrow's challenges, making popular what was the monopoly, it is important that we provide programming that is part of the solution. As such we understand that conditioning the human conscience with content that considers inspirational matters by celebrating our faith experience may help to rescues humanity and the wonton secularism that pervades. Not that we are against liberalism and secularism, but we believe that the marriage is important to keep us from destroying ourselves. The message of the cross is powerful and may help to heal a broken society devolving into decadence and social decay. May we remember the story of Jesus and his crucifixion.I provide several performances beginning with a group performance at Old First Reformed Church in Philadelphia, "The Reason We Sing."Then the Reflections by Rev. Renaldo McKenzie on Forgiveness reading from St. Luke 23:24 of the Christian Bible. We then wrap up with three performances:Donte and Renaldo using HER music,Renaldo and Ricardo on NYC train, How Great is Our God andRenaldo and Nate sing, Falling in Love with Jesus.Subscribe for free on any streaming service and donate to us at https://anchor.fm/theneoliberal.Visit us at renaldocmckenzie.com or theneoliberal.comThe Neoliberal Round by Renaldo McKenzie, from The Neoliberal Corporation, Serving the world today to solve tomorrow's challenges, by making popular wat was the monopoly.Email us: info@theneoliberal.com, submissions@theneoliberal.com, renaldocmckenzie @gmail.com Call Us: 1-445-260-9198Donate to us: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=USSJLFU2HRVAQ

Please Re-Open University of the Arts and Return Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the US
Season 10 Ep. 48: On A Quick Note: I cannot believe that the 150-year old University of the Arts in Philadelphia is closed. Here am I referring a young mentee to the college and when I checked, it’s closed.
Such a staple university focusing on the arts closed abruptly in June 2024 and filed bankruptcy in September 2024. The university closed because its leaders lacked the vision and the passion that would create innovative strategies to sustain the school.
First of all no one knows about the school, that’s why they suffered from low enrollment, and they were not profitable because they lack the Innovation to create new programs by working with the local niche communities and businesses in Northern liberties Philadelphia that were becoming the fashion and arts capital of the Eastcoast; with young professional New Yorkers moving to Old City and Northern Liberties.
Now The Eagles are are dominant team and the Sixers are contemplating building a huge new stadium in Center city. The university could’ve taken advantage of these opportunities. Their prowess in the arts would have been ideal in helping to:
1. develop the area utilizing the school’s artists and professors and
2. developing programs with the city and the stadium developers that serve to develop artists and designers who’d contribute to the stadium and the transformation of the city into the 21st century.
Re-open the school @PhiladelphiaGov
And return Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the US. We can't pay El Salvador 6 million dollars to hold him for us then say due to international policies we cannot interfere in El Salvador and if they want to release they should. We are paying them for God sake!

Hollow Justice in Holy Week: A Prophetic Reflection on Power and Hypocrisy in a Globalized World
Holy Week Reflection by Rev. Renaldo McKenzie:
1/
Isn’t it ironic, duplicitous and Pharisaical that our President Mr. Donald Trump expects compliance with executive orders… yet POTUS struggles to comply with court rulings and our Constitution?
2/
We can arrange prisoner swaps like Kseniya Karelina from Russia…
But we can’t bring back Kilmar Abrego Garcia from El Salvador?
3/
Trump is not a Jew, but he moves like the Pharisees did in the #NewTestament.
Jesus said:
“Woe to you, scribes & Pharisees, hypocrites!”
4/
He condemned their hypocrisy, legalism, and failure to uphold justice, mercy & faithfulness.
And that’s exactly what we’re witnessing in this “Neoliberal age”.
5/
These thoughts are the foundation of my upcoming book w/ Martin Oppenheimer:

Crime or Crisis? The Attack on Gov. Shapiro and What It Really Means
Show: The Neoliberal Round
Episode Title: Crime or Crisis? The Attack on Gov. Shapiro and What It Really Means
Host: Renaldo McKenzie
Episode Length: ~11 - 12 minutes
"You're listening to The Neoliberal Round. I'm your host, Renaldo McKenzie, and today I want to share a quick but important thought about the recent attack on Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and his family at the Governor’s Mansion.
This was shocking, disturbing, and yes—deeply serious. But it also reveals much more than just a security breach or an isolated act of violence. It forces us to ask: Are we looking at a crime… or a crisis? And are we responding in a way that will prevent the next one?"
"The first thing we need to understand is this:
What happened at the Governor’s Mansion is not necessarily a sign that crime is out of control. It’s a sign that mental health and opioid-related crises are being ignored, misdiagnosed, or underfunded.
This wasn't just a 'madman.' This could have been someone in deep psychological distress—someone who, if properly supported, may never have ended up in that situation."
"After incidents like this, we often see calls to crack down—more arrests, more surveillance, more punishment.
But punishment is not prevention.
We can’t keep treating mental illness and addiction with police and prison. We need:
More accessible community mental health services
Robust substance use treatment
Mobile crisis teams trained in de-escalation
Policies that deal with why this happened—not just what happened."
"I also want to draw a parallel that might make some people uncomfortable: the January 6th Capitol attack.
That was not just political extremism. That was psychological manipulation. That was mental instability, radicalized by fear, lies, and toxic leadership.
And we have to start asking ourselves: Are the people leading these movements mentally fit themselves? What happens when unstable leaders weaponize unstable followers?
Again, you can’t jail your way out of that. You need public health solutions."
"Let me be clear—I’m not saying people shouldn’t be held accountable. But throwing someone with untreated schizophrenia or severe trauma into jail is not justice—it’s just delay.
And when that person spirals again, guess what? We’re all still at risk.
That’s why we must invest in mental health infrastructure the same way we invest in roads, policing, or national defense."
"Now, let’s talk about something else this incident raises: How did this individual get close enough to a sitting Governor and his family to cause serious damage?
That’s not just a lapse—that’s a massive security failure.
We need to rethink how we protect elected officials, not just in public spaces but in their homes.
Mental health crises don’t pause at the gates of power. Our security systems need to account for that."
"My point today is this: If we want to be safe, we have to get real about what safety means.
It’s not just cops and fences.
It’s compassion.
It’s care.
It’s crisis prevention.
We need to stop punishing pain and start treating it. Because when we ignore mental illness and addiction, society pays the price—every time."
"That’s it for this episode of The Neoliberal Round.
I’m Renaldo McKenzie—thanks for tuning in.
Remember: the way we respond to crisis determines whether it happens again. Let’s choose prevention over punishment, and policy over panic.
Until next time, keep questioning, keep thinking, and keep it neoliberal—but compassionate."

In this final lecture for Caribbean Thought (Semester 2, 2025), Professor Renaldo McKenzie, Author of #Neoliberalism, opens with a critical reflection on the phrase "Out of Many, One People"—questioning its continued privileging of European identity over African heritage. Group 6 presents on Jamaica and Barbados, offering insights into national identity and postcolonial struggles. Ending Homeless Without Using Federal funds Featuring Claudio Bono on The Neoliberal Round
Renaldo McKenzie (Host):Welcome back to The Neoliberal Round, where we unpack bold ideas, uncomfortable truths, and complex questions at the intersection of policy, politics, and people. Today’s topic? Ending homelessness. That’s right—ending it. Not reducing. Not managing. Ending.
It’s a lofty goal in a neoliberal capitalist world where greed, inequality, and competition often leave the most vulnerable behind. But one city commissioner and hotelier is proposing an unconventional solution—and whether you agree or not, it’s an idea that’s making waves. Joining us today is Claudio Bono, Commissioner for the City of Cupertino, hotel entrepreneur, nonprofit veteran, and founder of GiveARoof.org. He’s tweeted his support for Trump’s cuts to homelessness programs—yes, that Trump—which immediately drew fire from progressives. But Claudio says those cuts didn’t inspire cruelty in him—they inspired creativity. So… could his airline points-based housing model be the spark we need—or is this just another swing in the dark? Let’s find out.
🎤 INTERVIEW BEGINS: Renaldo McKenzie: Claudio, welcome to The Neoliberal Round. Let's start with the basics—Who is Claudio Bono, and what's your plan to end homelessness?
Renaldo McKenzie: Now Claudio, let’s address the elephant in the room: the Trump tweet. Nikki wrote: “Dude, when they cut homelessness spending, it's cause this admin don't give a flying f**k about the homeless.”
Joe added: “You can applaud Trump all you want about the cuts, but he’s not doing it to solve a problem—he’s just being mean.”What’s your response? What made you see opportunity where others saw cruelty?
Renaldo McKenzie: Let’s dive into the proposal. One person asked: “You want to fix homelessness by using people’s airline loyalty points?” That sounds… unconventional. Can you explain how that would even work?
Renaldo McKenzie: Brian added to the discussion, saying: “I appreciate your innovative thinking. However, it appears to be the same path with just different funding sources. Not to mention, turning travel points into negative cash flow for companies.”You responded: “Not true. You didn’t hear the whole plan.” So tell us—what is the whole plan?
Renaldo McKenzie: Let’s talk transparency. Kandid wrote: “The model is already in place under Habitat for Humanity. I’m highly suspicious of GiveARoof.org. Please give me a breakdown of CEO pay and admin costs.” And you answered: “CEO: Me. Pay: Zero. Plus 11 years volunteer in nonprofits.” But how does your structure avoid the same pitfalls as other nonprofit housing efforts? What’s the real difference?Renaldo McKenzie: Michael jumped in with a summary of your claims: “Your program includes giving medical, D/A programs, providing shelter and housing, meals, jobs—you said yes… explain some more.” Is this similar to something like Philly’s recovery houses for the homeless affected by addiction and mental health?
Renaldo McKenzie: One last question from our listeners: What about Pay-It-Forward? Is there a way to build in a system where people who benefit from Give A Roof can give back—through miles, mentoring, or volunteerism?
🎙️ OUTRO: Renaldo McKenzie: That’s it for today’s episode. You’ve heard the vision, the backlash, the facts—and the fire. Is Claudio Bono a disruptor with a real shot at transforming how we fund solutions to homelessness? Or is this just another utopian blueprint lost in corporate red tape Whatever your verdict, one thing’s for sure—we need more bold ideas and fewer tired excuses. Claudio, thank you for joining us. Where can people learn more or support GiveARoof.org? And to all our listeners: If you enjoyed the show, leave a review, subscribe, and share. Until next time, stay aware, stay active, and stay Neoliberal—but reimagined.

Tariffs on China? A Tax on the Poor
Dear Mr. President,
Re: Tariffs on China? A Tax on the Poor
Applying a 125% tariff on China in response to their retaliatory trade actions, the true casualties will not be foreign economies—but America’s poor.
Tariffs are taxes. When levied on the low-cost goods that supply Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, and corner shops across the country, these taxes become a burden carried disproportionately by low-income Americans. These retail outlets serve a vital role in our domestic landscape, offering basic goods to communities that big-box retailers like Acme overlook.
Acme is not coming to the hood. And these low-wage communities—often ignored in economic planning—are not disappearing. Tariff increases mean the small shops that serve them will face higher wholesale prices and inevitably pass those costs on to customers already stretched thin.
This is not just a trade issue—it’s a domestic economic justice issue.
If we are serious about insulating our most vulnerable from economic shocks, we must diversify our own production. America needs industries that specialize in affordable goods, serving what I call “economies within the economy.” Without that, tariff policies will continue to harm those least able to weather them.
If Trump places a 125% tariff on China in response to their retaliatory tariff, then it means poor people in the U.S. are being taxed. And what of economies of scale? Sure, the goods are cheap, but not everyone can buy at Acme. Some go to Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, and the corner shop. These stores can afford to charge low prices because they access cheap goods that serve low-wage communities.
Low-wage communities aren’t changing anytime soon, so how will they survive this tax if their main suppliers are taxed? Acme’s not coming to the hoods—they don’t thrive there.
Unless we have cheaply made goods in the U.S. that serve a particular economy, these communities will be left out. But that means the U.S. must diversify and include specializations that provide affordable goods tailored to certain “economies.”

Why Is the US Charging Tariffs on the Caribbean? A Question of Globalization and Unfair Trade
How can the United States justify imposing tariffs on countries like Jamaica Haiti, and others in the Caribbean—nations whose markets have been devastated by the very multinationals and transnationals that the U.S. has supported for decades? American Corporations have long penetrated these emerging markets, flooding them with cheaper goods and services, eroding local industries, and reducing Caribbean nations to dependent capitalist markets. The International Monetary Fund (#IMF), often under U.S. influence, has further entrenched these dependencies by enforcing structural adjustment policies that gutted public investment and local enterprise. Meanwhile, the region sends hundreds of millions—if not billions—of dollars in royalties, profits, and remittances back to the U.S., continuing a cycle of extraction and economic subordination. So why would President Donald Trump—who claims to support fair trade—impose tariffs on these vulnerable economies? The answer lies in the profoundly unequal mechanisms of globalization, where the rules benefit the powerful and marginalize the developing world. It’s a game stacked against countries trying to build self-reliance and resilience. One of my friends use to work for comcast comcast business as a customer services rep (now called “Call Center Rep) getting $17 – $21 per hour in #Philly COMCAST laid him off and outsourced the job to The Philippines and Caribbean where Comcast pays Call Center Reps $1 – $3.50 per day. Yet we charge them reciprocal tariffs up to 10% plus a direct tariff on others. They want to have their cake and eat it too.
DON'T BE GREEDY. GREED LEADS TO GLUT AND THEN DEATH.

Question: Who are the founders of the Haitian Revolution?
A. Toussaint and Dutty Boukman,
B. Dessalinethe s and Dutty Boukman.
On this Presentation dubbed "Everything Caribbean," Students from Group 1 present on Haiti and the Dominican Republic. We learn who the true hero of the revolution is in Haiti when they gained their independence from a revolt. We had thought it was Toussaint. But we learned it was Dessalines who could not read or write French and was not quickly educated in the European ways, but still helped to lead Haiti to their freedom. However, the French would tell us it was Toussaint fitting into their narrative that the founder who defeated the French could not have been someone who was not educated in the French ways. It must have been someone who was European, and they agreed that Toussaint, who was a French soldier, would be the founder. But in Haiti, Dessalines is the founder. In Europe and the rest of the world, it is Toussaint. The students critically correct our thinking and provide a history that is from below. Breaking News: NABJ Press Release and Conference with Inquirer's Editor on Staffing Cuts
Hear why The Philadelphia Inquirer shut down its Communities & Engagement Desk, laying off its reporters who are Black and people of color. Inquirer Editor Gabriel Escobar talked about the newspaper’s decision and answered questions at the National Association of Black Journalist membership meeting, April 2. Escobar spoke after the NABJ 6:30pm business meeting, where we learned that the cuts had nothing to do with the nationwide cuts surrounding DEI hires. Escobar pointed to the fact that the paper made the cuts based on changes in the industry, where newspaper and news agency are downsizing. Nevertheless, Escobar did not explain the irony of these cuts with the nationwide cuts and attack on DEI and did not offer any actionable plan to ensure that current staff continue to promote local stories and peoples who are underserved in the community it serves and resides.
Mr. Escobar vehemently denied receiving any funds from federal government that may affect the Inquirer's decision from making the lay-offs.
Renaldo McKenzie of The Neoliberal was present for the discussions and filed this report.
The press conference with Mr. Escobar was recorded live and is available on The Neoliberal Round YouTube Channel https://youtube.com/@renaldomckenzie in video.

Trump's Third Term Opens the door for Obama V Trump 2028
If Trump can run a third term, Obama may as well. This would be a huge matchup in political history between Obama and Trump. I've always wanted to see them face-off.

Excerpts of Renaldo's Interview on G-Town Radio's "Neglected Stories, People, History, Movements"
This is an edited excerpt of Renaldo McKenzie's interview about Neoliberalism, Globalization, Income Inequality, Poverty and Resistance on G-Town Radio's "Neglected Stories, People, History, Movements," hosted by Pedro Rodriguez.
Pedro spoke with Renaldo about Neoliberalism and the current neoliberal globalist strategies that are re-taking root and explore resistance to neoliberal globalization.
Renaldo was passionate on this interview with Pedro and so we had to provide a version of it on The Neoliberal Podcast, albeit an edited excerpt. When we get the full interview we will make it available for our audience on The Neoliberal Round.

A Warning to the President: Musk’s Betrayal and the Illusion of Loyalty
Dear Mr. President Donald Trump,I know you are fond of #elonmusk, but so too was #biden—and yet, Musk betrayed him. If he could turn on Biden, what makes you think he won’t do the same to you?Musk’s fortune swelled under Biden’s administration, not merely from innovation but from the artificial winds of government intervention. Biden’s tax credits for electric vehicles funneled demand straight into Tesla’s pockets, distorting the free market and cementing Musk’s place as the world’s richest #automaker—and, for a time, the wealthiest man alive. This was not capitalism in its purest form, but an unfair advantage masquerading as policy. It was Biden who had already poured $350 billion into Musk’s ambitions through #spacex, only to double down by tipping the scales in Tesla’s favor. These subsidies dictated consumer behavior, steering Americans toward Tesla not by choice, but by incentive. But here we are, in a new chapter, where you, Mr. President, seem to have taken a different path. By removing tariffs on electric vehicles and eliminating Biden’s preferential tax credits, you have leveled the playing field. No longer will Americans be herded toward Teslas for the sake of a subsidy. Instead, all American-made cars will compete on even ground, as they should. This is a move that underscores your commitment to free enterprise rather than corporate favoritism.Unlike Biden, who unknowingly armed his own adversary, you appear unmoved by the lure of Musk’s influence. You are not bending to the whims of a single mogul, nor are you allowing the state to play kingmaker in the auto industry. This is a correction, a realignment with the principles of capitalism—a system that should never be shackled by government interference in the service of one man’s empire. As for Musk, his betrayals may yet return to him—not by the hand of Biden’s retaliation, but by the justice of consequence—the karma of life. Life, after all, has its own way of settling accounts.

On A Quick Note: Separation of Powers is a Facade!
Is Separation of Powers a Facade? Or are we going back to the past where Kings, Queens and Noble men are above the laws and constitution of this country - America. Is this England, France, Russia or Chibna? No it is Not! It is a country built on Democratic values; but today those elected to continues, preserve and direct our affairs are changing the nation for their own good and in their name, not in the name of the populist and for America. To be great does not mean to dismantle democratic institutions that have been set up to preserve and protect against despots, kings and supremacist. We really did vote to go back, did we? But back to what?
In this quick episode, Rev. Renaldo McKenzie shares a blog with Donte a Contributor and Co-Producer of the Show.
Renaldo writes that:
What is going on in America? Speaker Mike Johnson is threatening to withhold funding from District Courts for making a ruling that challenges the President. If the President disagrees with a lower court judge, he must appeal. We have a system in place that should work, unless when it works against the powerful they can withhold money. That means we have no separation of powers in actuality, if politicians can decide to withhold funding from the Judiciary. There's no way an attorney would make such irresponsible statements threatening the institution that has been constitutionally entrenched and has given him his authority. Speaker Johnson must have been threatened by Trump whose support he needs in order to keep his job as Speaker. So then there's no separation there either if the speaker and the house are "elected" by The President.
Nevertheless, Johnson's statements are unconstitutional, threatens the legal institution that has given him his law license and therefore he should be disbarred. Johnson has no respect for the separation of powers and the authority of the justices and the people's court.

Caribbean Thought Extended: Is The Average Caribbean Richer Than The Average American?
SHONTAL: Sir, do you agree that the average American is not able to take vacations like the average Jamaican and Caribbean residents can?
PROF. RENALDOMCKENZIE: No, but it also depends on who you are comparing because black and Brown people are just as dependent and economically behind everywhere. So there is no positive to be gained from the poorest being better than other poor people. Moreover, the average person in the US is not looking to break the law to travel to the #caribbean. In fact, there are very few restrictions to travel from the US to the Caribbean. Moreover, the US is a post-industrial developed country where US1$ is #jamaica $150. In the US, the poorest have access to social welfare, tax returns and credits, and other benefits. Jamaica and Caribbean governments struggle to provide benefits to their most vulnerable peoples and can barely afford to provide social welfare. The question is an inappropriate question, as one cannot compare the two in terms of wealth as the US has more wealth than Jamaica but the wealth is concentrated around those who are white or of a certain class.
The episode went beyond the Caribbean Thought Lecture's class topic, looking at the film "Life and Debt" by Stephanie Black, which is why this Episode series of Caribbean Thought is called Caribbean Thought Extended.
We also switched gears and discussed some breaking news from around the #caribbean:
1. Turks and Caicos - Immigration restrictions on immigrants as the Turks are being outnumbered by immigrants. #turksandcaicos
2. Trinidad and Tobago - The Government announced a State of Emergency, and the Chief of Police was arrested for his association with a known gang leader responsible for bringing in illegal guns. Trinidad and Tobago
3. Haiti - The whole country is still in a state of crisis as gangs control half of the capital. #haiti
We discuss these lead by: Edras from Haiti living in Trinidad Ombertta - from Jamaica living in Turks and Caicos
Shontal - From Jamaica and is in Jamaica.
The discussions are facilitated and hosted by Rev. Renaldo McKenzie, Professor/Lecturer in Caribbean Thought and Author of #neoliberalism, Globalization, Income Inequality, Poverty and Resistance, Creator and Host of The Neoliberal Round Podcast and YouTube Channel.

What is Togo? How Did Togo get their Independence? in Audio Podcast
Togo was part of Ghana until the colonization and occupation by Germany, France and the British which divided a people and a place for their (Europeans') benefits and interests. This episode which is in preparation or the Lecture on Caribbean Thought Semester 2, 2024 at the Jamaica Theological Seminary, explores the West African Country, Togo which provides an interesting case as to how post-independent countries were forced into accepting a ceremonial freedom and independence. The independence negotiated could and affects the future of these small newly independent states and peoples. From Jamaica to Hit, Africa and the peoples within, black, brown or formerly colonized peoples. The Togo situation resembles all states that were fighting for independence but was still under the control of their former masters. The Podcast and production continues the Lectures in Caribbean and Pan Africanism exploring Neoliberal Globalization and the concept of The Black and Brown Position in the World, which is explored in my upcoming second book, Neoliberal Globalization Reconsidered and will form part of the Lectures next semester, January 2024. We conducted an interview with a Togolese American and included an adapted and remastered documentary film by @AFRISTORYNETWORK Togo, with voice overs and narrations for the English Speaking Caribbean, American and European Markets. This episode will be included in the Lectures in #CaribbeanThought at the Jamaica Theological Seminary (( @jtsintersection ) the Professor Rev.
