EP 39: There's Never a Perfect Time (Part 2)
In this week’s episode, Amanda discusses the dangers of Motivation 2.0 (a popular educational pedagogy) and why having a goal that is forever just out of reach is detrimental to one’s mental, emotional, and even physical health. She also discusses why it’s so incredibly important to trust the plans and goals that you have for yourself, even when they do go right.

EP 38: There's Never a Perfect Time
In this week’s episode, Amanda discusses why it’s so important to have a plan when you’re trying to start working for yourself, leave one job in favor of another, start a business, or make any change in one’s professional or personal life. However, she also discusses why it’s equally as important to make sure that your plan has an ending, and that you don’t keep adding conditions to it. There’s no such thing as the “perfect” time to do something, but there’s way to make it almost perfect. She also discusses why it is important to be prepared to start what you want to do (that new job, working for yourself, starting a business), but it’s also important to start faster than you might think and then adjust as you go, and adjust as you grow.

EP 37: Overturning Roe v. Wade is a Human Rights Violation
In light of the leaked documents that the United States Supreme Court is potentially overturning Roe v. Wade, Amanda is discussing why access to safe, legal abortions is incredibly important. In the episode she goes in quite a few directions, but this just shows how the decision to legalize or criminalize abortion is not black and white (even though many people want it to be and make it out to be). This is a medical decision (and sometimes lifesaving decision) that should be between a physician and the birthing person.
This episode is still monetized so that all funds generated from this episode can be donated to Planned Parenthood.

EP 36: How to Have Staying Power/Longevity
In this week’s episode, Amanda provides her listeners with three pieces of advice to integrate into their lives before and as they are making changes and choosing to go all-in on specific goals. These are three things that Amanda wishes that she did when she was transitioning from teaching high school to being a full time resume writer and working for herself, and she believes that these things can exponentially improve your longevity and staying power in what you do and aspire to do.

EP 35: Put It Down Dirty; Pick It Up Clean
In this week’s episode, Amanda discusses how this phrase changed her perspective regarding the decisions we make and how we process what goes on in our daily lives, big and small. She also gives you feedback on why this phrase is such an important way to live your life and how it can provide you with power and agency during times where it can be lacking (and isn’t that all of the time anymore?)

EP 34: Leaving Teaching for a Completely Different Industry & Job (I Was Able to Do It in 3 Months; So Can You)
This is the time of year where teachers are being asked whether or not they plan to renew their contracts for the next school year, and this always comes at a tumultuous time with spring fever, proms, graduations, and standardized tests bombarding both teachers and students. This year, it's even more tumultuous as more and more teachers are leaving the profession, and leaving at record rates. This week, I am re-publishing my very first episode that talks about why and how I left teaching. Even if you are not a teacher, this episode has tangible takeaways and step-by-step information that you can follow if you are looking to make a change professionally and even personally.

EP 33: Embrace Being Multi-Faceted
In this week’s episode, Amanda discusses why we’ve been conditioned to ignore the fact that as humans, we have a lot of different, diverse interests and these interests will grow, change, and transform, and they will sometimes do this at the same time. She talks about how prior generations were forced to not lean into their multi-faceted desires and interests or any changes that took place within them, and how that’s conditioned us to believe that as well. She works to break this cycle of monotony and includes how this can be pivotal in obtaining your BHAG (big, hairy, audacious goal).

EP 32: Take Up Space (It's Okay If What You Want Changes)
In this week's episode, Amanda discusses how society has evolved to a point where picking a "box" (a job, an interest, etc.) and having that forever works; we're not always meant to be doing what at 50 what we chose at 18, and this is a pattern that millennials (including elder millennials) and Gen Z will be breaking (and it won't always be easy).

EP 31: We're Not Meant to Be Receiving So Much Feedback At Scale
In this week's episode, Amanda discusses how detrimental it can be to constantly be in positions where we receive so much feedback (whether correct or incorrect) instantaneously and how the cliche boundaries of "just delete this app off of your phone!" or "just don't let it get to you and don't check your email!" are BS. They might've worked in 2010, but they are NOT feasible in 2022.

EP 29: Burnout - It's So Much More Now Than It was in 2019
In this week’s episode, Amanda discusses burnout, everyone’s favorite feeling and how the way we think about and experience burnout now has significantly changed over the past two years (and even two weeks). She discusses how to combat burnout no matter your personality through the 3/7 rule (her take on the 4/7 rule) and how it’s applicable to you no matter your personality or life experiences.

EP 28: Remember Your Why
It's so cliche but it's so true; in this week's episode, Amanda talks about how it's so important (and honestly now more than ever) to remember why your goals are your goals, especially after you've achieved them. It's so easy to sink back into our old habits of going through the motions when we made significant changes because we didn't want to do that. Today, you'll hear about how and why Amanda is going through the motions rather than living in balance (to help you reflect if you are too) and how to help get out of this headspace if you're in it.

EP 27: Holding on to Letting Go
In this week's episode, Amanda discusses how so often we're the one holding ourselves back from where we want to be because of the preconceived notions we have about ourselves or what we thought things would be like, whether that's a job, a relationship, a routine that we have, or how we think of and speak to ourselves. Amanda is in the throws of trying to figure out how to balance holding and letting go herself, and hopes that by talking about it everyone realizes that they're not alone in feeling this way.

EP 26: One Form of Income is No Longer Sustainable + What to Do About It
In this episode, Amanda discusses how only have one form of income is no longer realistic or sustainable in contemporary society and what you can today to start building other revenue streams (active and passive). EP 25: High High's and Low Low's
In this week's episode, Amanda gives you some tools and perspective regarding these high and low emotional moments when we're in a place of change in our lives (no matter what that change is). Knowing that this is normal is key to making sure that you make the right decision for you and also that the decision you make isn't rooted just in one emotional moment. You'll have these high high's and low low's no matter what your life path is, so why not make the pivot/that transition you've been thinking about making? It might seem like you'll have less control if you choose to create your own path or do things different than what most people are doing, but you'll actually have more control than you did before.

Ep 23: Passive Multi-Tasking - How to Utilize It To Achieve Your Goals
In this episode, Amanda discusses passive multi-tasking and how you can incorporate it into your day-to-day life. Whether you are trying to make your side hustle your main hustle, work multiple jobs while keeping your sanity, or like where you're at and you're trying to find a little more time for you each day, Amanda shares her experience utilizing passive multi-tasking when she was a high school teacher and how you can too no matter what your goals are or what you do day to day because time really is the most valuable resource that we have, and having a little more of it isn't a bad thing.

EP 22: Shiny Happy People
In this episode, Amanda discusses how generational expectations and trauma can affect our abilities to determine what we truly want, so often we do things because it appears the way that it "should" on the outside even if there is inner turmoil. She discusses how prior generations perpetuated this narrative of appearances being more important than realty, how technology is actually helping this, and what you can do to ensure that you're not doing certain things and living life in a certain way because it's what others want or expect of you.

EP 18: What's Your One Thing? The Importance of Re-Charging When You're Pivoting (& When You're Not)
In this episode, Amanda discusses why it's so important to have one thing that helps you feel like you and allows you to take at least 30 minutes to decompress (ideally an hour) each day. Regardless of whether or not you're pivoting or going through a transformational time in your life, this is so important to have if we're going to practice living the life that we want to have. Amanda gives examples as to what this could be (but you're probably already thinking about what that is, as well as 3 specific tips and suggestions concerning how to implement this one thing into your life daily (yes, you do have time) regardless of what your situation and schedule looks like.

On today's episode, Amanda discusses gratitude and the importance of including a gratitude practice into your daily life. If you are incredibly busy and not the type of person to have a gratitude practice, this episode is for you. If you are they type to have a gratitude practice or already have a gratitude practice, this episode is also for you. Amanda provides you with tips and ways you can implement a gratitude practice in your life no matter what amount of time that you have (even if it's none) and also that it's okay not to be grateful, especially during the holiday season when so many will try to force us to be grateful because there's a certain date on the calendar.

EP 11: Manifestation: Real Methods You Can Do Today + The Technicalities/Why It Works
In this episode, Amanda talks all about Manifestation, why it is woo-wooy but also incredibly practical, how you can use manifestation to reach your goals, as well as the steps needed to make sure that your manifestations are effective and real options for manifestation that you can do today (it's not just thinking about something). This episode is packed with information, resources, and physical things that you can do immediately as well as in the short- and long-term to help you actually reach your goals (and sometimes in half of the time that you thought it would take). We talk about bound and free nature, how to practice manifestation and build that muscle, and the science behind manifestation as well. EP 10: You're Making the Best Decision You Can w/ The Info You Have Today
Happy episode 10! On this episode, Amanda gives listeners some of the best advice that she received when she was deciding whether or not to leave teaching work for herself in a full-time capacity. She gives you this advice as well as context for this advice in addition to its realistic application in the world that we live in currently, as well as how one's past experiences and financial trauma (micro or macro...we all have it some capacity) can be contextualized within the advice she received and now gives you!

EP 9: You are the sum of the 5 people that you spend the most time with
... And we would argue that you are the sum of the 4 people that you spend the most time with because #1 on that list is you (whether you like it or not). In this week's episode, Amanda discusses why the cliche phrase that is seen a lot on social media and in social content is so true and so important (with her own twist): you are the sum of the four people besides yourself that you spend the most time with. So what do you do when you want to spend your time more deliberately but feel compelled to have to spend it a certain way? In this episode, you'll receive tangible advice and information about why this is so hard to deal with, how to transform how you spend your time (especially since work/life balances don't exist anymore) and why you're really the sum of the 4 people you spend the most time with, not 5.

EP 8: When Things Don't Feel Figure-Out-Able
I know you're doing the best that you can be, and I'm so proud of you.
On this little bit of a rambly episode, Amanda talks about why it's okay to be uncertain and why it shouldn't stop you from pivoting or making a change. It's also normal to feel this way even if you're not in the process of making change! She also talks about how finances and money can contribute to this, and what you can do for 3 minutes each day to help when you're feeling uncertain/overwhelmed.

EP 6: Everything is Figure-Out-Able with Ryane Currie
I had the privilege of speaking with Ryan Currie on the podcast today. I’ve been following Ryane since I listened to her story on Maddy Ciccone’s podcast and on the Get a Helmet podcast (both linked below). Those podcasts dive deep into her journey with moving to LA to dance professionally, sobriety, addiction, and her identity. Here, we talk about her current mindset and how it’s been shaped by her past and also the last few years especially, and life as an Orange Theory Head Coach, 305 Fitness Professional, how everything is figure-out-able, the launching of her life coaching program (coming soon!!). Ryane is an incredible human being and is a huge inspiration and light in this world, and I’m so thankful we had the chance to talk about career and life shifts, and why sometimes it’s not about having plans A-D; it’s about going all in with plan A.

EP 5: It Was Never Meant to Be
The life that you are living was never a part of the life that you are coming into. It never existed in that space. It was never meant to be.
On this week's episode of The Pivot Podcast, Amanda discusses how important it is to let go of the life that you assumed you would be living to make room for the life that you want to live, even if you're not completely sure of how exactly you'll be accomplishing that. She shares the moment she realized her last year teaching was her last year teaching (only 2 months into the school year) and how after only 3 months she had everything in a row to make that realization a reality (plus what else she did along the way that you can too). If you know that you want to make a change but don't know how or where to start, or you only have a rough idea of either the finish line or a couple of steps that could be placing you at a finish line that you would like, and you're trying to place that finish line in front of you, this episode is exactly what you need.

EP 4: Rule 1: There are no rules
In episode 4, Amanda breaks down the idea that we *have* to do things because of what others say, believe about us, or want from us. There are no rules, regardless of what you have stipulated or what others have put on you. Understanding that your life is yours to live (within reason) and that you really can do whatever you want in this life (with some realism and some tangible takeaways/actionable steps), this episode will give you a toolbox concerning how to take the "There are no rules" mentality into your everyday life to pivot in micro or macro ways in your person and professional lives with your finances, your work, those around you, and yourself.

EP 3: Your Bandwidth Before Self-Fulfillment: Grief, Time, & A Tribute to Abby Anderson & Gabe Grunewald
Amanda is solo in this week's episode to discuss the impact that the loss of an individual has on how we live our lives and how it provides us with perspective and an astute ability to shift what we do and how we will (both by choice and by force). She also pays tribute to Abigail Anderson and Gabe Grunewald, sisters who passed away within 2 years of each other, and discusses their impact on those that knew them and knew of them (you don't have to be into running for this one). You only have this one and precious life.

EP 2: You're The Only One That Wakes Up in Your Life: Professional Training & Outside Noise
In episode 2, Amanda and Ashley discuss why we so often define ourselves by our formal and informal training/experience, why we shouldn't let the "what are you using your degree/certifications/education for?" question define what we do daily, how the opinions of others and outside noise are a part of that, and why it is, however, important to be realistic when determining what we do in our day-to-day life. But there are more appropriate, introspective questions that should be taken into consideration.

EP 1: Establishing Street Cred: How I Pivoted from Teaching to Working for Myself
This week is solo!! Welcome to The Pivot Podcast; my story is one of many regarding what to do when you realize that you have everything you dreamed of but the reality is SO different from the build-up and expectation. This podcast is about YOU and to hopefully help you develop a work/life balance and find fulfillment in your life (regardless of whether or not you're looking to make a change), but I wanted to give you a little context and share the backbone of my professional pivot from teaching high school to working for myself so you know that I've been there (and still am there) when it comes to figuring life out and trying to find balance while paying your bills.
