S2, E9: Educate, Reflect, Act: Addressing Anti-Black Racism (with YouthREX)
This week on The Revolutionized Mind, we are joined by two members from the YouthREX team, Rahma Kiongozi and Cyril Cromwell. In this powerful conversation, we dive deep into the realities of anti-Black racism, including what it is, how it continues to shape our world, and why it's essential to remain actively engaged in dismantling it. We begin by unpacking the foundations of anti-Black racism through a historical lens, noting that these systems continue to operate and have lasting impacts on black folks today. This episode also challenges us to confront our unconscious biases through self-reflection and critical reflexivity. We are encouraged to approach this necessary work with grace, humility, and a willingness to learn. We discuss the importance of “calling people in” - creating space for education and conversation rather than shame or exclusion - and explore what true equity and sustainable inclusion look like in practice. This episode is an invitation to deepen our understanding, reflect on our roles in change, and take action from a place of compassion and accountability.

S2, E8: Being Human in a Digital World (with Luc Grey)
This week on The Revolutionized Mind, we are joined by Luc Grey! In this episode, Luc shares some of the work that they do as a therapist and everything that they love about providing a safe space for others to navigate their own life journeys. Luc emphasizes the importance of asking questions, being curious, and really thinking about how we exist within different systems. We spend a big portion of this conversation discussing social media use and the balance between simply consuming content and being intentional with the way that we use our own personal platforms. As a therapist, Luc talks about being guided by our values, ensuring that we are present in our daily lives, and constantly checking in with ourselves as we go. We validate that having the world at our fingertips can be exhausting and overwhelming, and we’re just not meant to see or do it all. But, the small ways that we choose to make a difference in this world go a lot farther than we think. This episode is reassuring and empowering, and will definitely encourage you to start thinking about things a little bit differently.

In this episode, Serenna talks about her journey of becoming a therapist - from the moment she knew this was her calling to the genuine love and care she has for the people that she works with. She uses her compassionate, empathetic, and warm qualities to build strong therapeutic relationships while also supporting individual growth. We spend a big portion of this conversation discussing the topic of “second puberty” and how these experiences impact us physically, emotionally, and mentally. Serenna shares some science and research behind the changes that happen in our bodies and how these tend to affect our body image and self-esteem. She highlights how we can meet these shifts with self-compassion by practicing gratitude, body neutrality, and just simply talking about what we’re experiencing. We also discuss how things like Botox can really change the way that we perceive ourselves and our own self-worth, emphasizing how important it is to be kind to ourselves and our aging bodies. This episode is your gentle reminder that it’s okay to be human, and that healing often begins with compassion, grace, and a whole lot of love.

S2, E1: The Butterfly Effect (with Lumenus Community Services)
Hi everyone - welcome to Episode 1 of Season 2! I am super excited to be back on the microphone sharing many different things with you all. I wanted to start off by talking about where I’ve been and what my goals are for this new season. I took some time to self-reflect on the podcast and really think about how I wanted to show up in this space. I decided to select a theme for this season, and that is going to be The Butterfly Effect. The Butterfly Effect is the idea that small actions can create powerful ripple effects in our lives and the world around us. I, personally, feel a sense of empowerment when I think about The Butterfly Effect and I am hoping that you will too. Every episode will end with a call to action that has the power to contribute to long-term, positive change, either on an individual level or a larger community/global level. These actions are meant to inspire and motivate you to take some small step. When everything feels like it’s on fire and you don’t know where to start, I want to remind you that there ARE things in your control and you CAN make a difference. I hope you love these conversations as much as I do!
We also have two special guests in this episode from the Lumenus team: Senior Director of Fund Development, Laura Champion & Board Director, Dr. Mike Daniels. They tell us all about the amazing work that their organization does in the city of Toronto. They provide Wraparound support to those who need it and offer different services and programs for things like mental health, autism, substance use, caregiving, and so much more. They have an upcoming community fundraiser called, ‘Embody Yoga’ on Sunday, March 30, 2025 from 8am-11am. You can register for the event online (https://www.lumenus.ca/embody-yoga/) or if you can’t make it, please consider making a donation or sharing it within your network. It’s going to be an amazing day and the funds raised will go directly to supporting people in the community - a great “Butterfly Effect” action if I do say so myself.
Thanks so much for tuning in today! Episodes will be coming out every Friday (for now at least). Be sure to follow me on social media @therevolutionizedmind for all the updates.
P.S I’m sorry the audio in my solo parts is a little bit wonky - I recorded this sitting on the couch and I apparently don’t know how to sit still :)

#96- Step by Step (with Erica Romaniuk)
This week on TRM, we are joined by the Founder of Step by Step Tours, Erica Romaniuk! Erica graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson) and was very grateful to find a job in her field post-grad. So, she decided to start going to therapy and took some time to do lots of honest self-reflection. Erica thought long and hard about what truly makes her happy, what she’s passionate about, and how she could combine these things with her professional life. And then, Step by Step Tours was born! Land Acknowledgment: I wish to acknowledge that the entire country of Canada resides on traditional, unceded, or treaty lands of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people. I strongly believe in the importance of this acknowledgment, so I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the privileges that we hold today in living and working on these lands. Currently, I am in Newmarket, Ontario which is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. This area of land is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands. As a guest and settler on these lands, it is my duty to unlearn inherent colonial systems, actively work towards reconciliation, and to raise Indigenous voices whenever I can.

#82- TadHealth (with Ben Greiner)
Happy Friday! This week, we are joined by the CEO and Founder of TadHealth, Ben Greiner. A few years ago, Ben found himself supporting his best friend through a mental health crisis situation. At the time, he didn’t have the knowledge or resource information to help his friend in the way that he wanted. This sparked Ben’s passion for really getting involved in working in this space. He initially founded the TadProject to help educate people on what to do in crisis situations but quickly discovered that he wanted to do more. Then came TadHealth, a social impact for-profit company that aims to simplify access to mental health resources for everyone. Through leveraging both education and technology, Ben and his team have created a platform that makes mental health services more accessible for those who need it, when they need it. Tune in to learn more about TadHealth and find out how you can get involved. #81- Addiction, Recovery, and Advocacy (with Todd Rennebohm)
This week, we are joined by mental health advocate and podcast host, Todd Rennebohm. Before Todd began working in the mental health space, he was heavily struggling with an alcohol addiction. But, like many, he didn’t realize how serious it was. In this episode, he shares his story with mental illness, explains how it was affecting different areas of his life, and highlights how difficult the road to recovery can be. After several attempts at getting help and experiencing many bumps along the way, Todd landed in a 28-day treatment program that ultimately changed his life. He wrote a children’s book, began advocating for mental health, and is now in his 6th year of sobriety. Todd’s story is complex, authentic, and incredibly inspiring. I hope that anybody listening to this will take away the message that: recovery is possible and hard work pays off! Trigger warning: self-harm, suicide, and addiction are talked about in this episode. Please ensure that you are in the right headspace to consume this content before listening to this conversation. #80- My Experience with Dermatillomania (with Angela Hartlin)
Happy Friday friends! Today we are joined by author and advocate, Angela Hartlin. In this episode, Angela talks about her experience with Dermatillomania, which is also known as Excoriation Disorder. Skin Picking falls under the “Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours” (BFRBs) category which is something that not many people know about - myself included. Angela explains what the disorder looks like, how it impacted her life, and why both advocacy and treatment put her on the road to recovery. She breaks down some common misconceptions and emphasizes the importance of healthcare providers getting educated on disorders such as these. I learned so much from this conversation, and I hope you do too. #79- Mental Health and Masculinity (with Simon Rinne)
Happy Friday! I’m so excited to be getting back into our regular guest conversations this week. Today, we are joined by Simon Rinne from Mindful Men. Simon is a Social Worker and Podcast Host who is passionate about creating safe spaces for men to talk about their mental/emotional health. In this episode, Simon shares his experience with mental illness, toxic masculinity, and mindfulness. For over 20 years, he was living with OCD, depression, and anxiety but did not know what any of this meant or how to get help. Being a “man”, he was scared to open up about what he was going through because he feared what other people would think of him. When he went to seek therapy for the first time, his whole life changed as he was introduced to the idea of mindfulness. Simon turned this into a successful platform where he shares his story, helps other men become more emotionally aware, and promotes mindful practices and strategies. This conversation was super insightful and I hope it helps to improve the gendered constraints around emotional well-being. So, I open up about what that looked like for me. I also share some of the things I'm looking forward to this month and expand on the six words that I've selected to guide me throughout the year. I hope that you are using this time to reflect on the past 12 months and set some intentions for the next 12 months. Trigger warning: suicidal ideation and self-harm are discussed in this episode. #73- How Bullying Impacted my Mental Health (with Tyler Dulong)
Happy Friday! This week's episode is very eye-opening and unique. Our guest, Tyler, shares his experience with bullying, how that affected his mental health, and how he got to the place he's at today. Throughout his early school years, Tyler was getting bullied nearly every day which led to him having extreme anxiety about going to school. This anxiety also turned into a depression where he was feeling 'fed up' with everything that was happening to/around him. He ended up getting homeschooled in Grade 12, which actually improved his academic performance, as well as his mental health. After college, he found himself a part of a new social group that allowed him to express himself in a way that he was never able to before. Tyler's story is incredibly vulnerable, raw, and inspiring. Trigger warning: this episode talks about bullying, suicide, and violence. Happy Friday everyone! Today, we are joined by former college baseball player, Reid Meyer. Reid is the Co-Founder of Athletes to Athletes, a college counseling service that provides customized plans for student-athletes going through the recruiting process. Like many others, Reid had a narrow-minded approach to selecting a college program. He was solely focused on his sport, and thus ignored the rest of what the college experience should entail. In this episode, Reid shares his personal journey, what he's learned along the way, and how he turned all of this into a successful service for student-athletes and their families to better understand and navigate the system. He tells us all about Athletes to Athletes and what they offer, we break down some misperceptions about college athletics and we highlight some important questions that you should be asking yourself before committing to a program.
