Best of The Satin Lounge with Kia René welcomes back legendary soul singer, songwriter, and keyboardist Frank McComb & Family. For those unaware Frank McComb gifted The Satin Lounge with our original theme song. He's always been one of our biggest supporters, we share mutual support and love for one another. We were thrilled to have he and his family join us for this throwback for Christmas Eve. The McCombs share their holiday traditions, original Christmas music and indie hacks for creatives. Tune in as we celebrate the holidays with Frank's Christmas single "How I Remember Christmas" and "The Fans’ Favorites a 3-CD set" which celebrates a decade of Frank McComb’s music with songs chosen by the fans. We'll also discuss his latest CD "The Living Room" featuring Frank's LA-based trio, Robert Miller on drums, Anthony Crawford on bass. "The Living Room" is a live CD with no production, no backing vocals, bells or whistles and highlights the mastery of Frank as a vocalist and improvisational keyboardist. Frank McComb has worked with Branford Marsalis's Buckshot LeFonque band, Prince, Teena Marie, Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Philip Bailey, Chaka Khan, Gato Barbierie, The Rude Boys, Patrice Rushen, New Sector Movements, Philadelphia International Records legendary songwriting duo, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff and a host of other artists. He's had two major label deals (Columbia and Motown's MoJazz group) and an indie contract (Malibu Sessions), releasing the albums Love Stories (co-produced by Marsalis) and The Truth. While with MoJazz he recorded two albums worth of material that were never released. In 2005, he took matters into his own hands and he launched his own record label Boobeescoot Music and prides himself on successfully releasing his music directly to his fans. Download his music!

Best of The Satin Lounge with Kia René welcomes multi-talented singer/songwriter and LGBTQ+ Activist MELANIE RICE to Pillow Talk. As a performer, Melanie Rice currently leads her own 10 piece dance band and her own Jazz Quartet. On the concert stage, she has opened for headliners such as Smokey Robinson, Joan Rivers and David Brenner, as well as worked as a back-up vocalist with Jazz Great Grover Washington, Jr., Joe Piscopo and Bobby Rydell. She has also recorded & released a romantic CD with Grammy nominated Jazz pianist George Mesterhazy entitled “He Loves, She Loves” and her latest CD is titled “This Love of Mine” and features several world class musicians – Dean Schneider (piano), Tim Lekan (upright bass) and Bob Shomo (drums). Both CDs are available on iTunes and Amazon. In 2008, Melanie founded MRE Talent Management, an artist management company through which she manages several emerging & established artists in the music, television and film industries. She’s the co-producer of The Miss’d America Pageant AND The Hansen House Concert – “Street Life”. She most recently added “Film Producer” to her long list of credits and is Co-Producer and Music Supervisor for Nicole Conn and Soul Kiss Films’ latest feature “A Perfect Ending” starring Barbara Niven, Jessica Clark, Morgan Fairchild and John Heard. Jane Gurtiza is the founder of G+ Films. A company with the purpose of platforming new and upcoming writing, directing, and acting talent. Some of her projects include: “Liberty City” with Ray Liotta, Mos Def, and T.I. “Jonathan’s Carousels”, “Super Sunday”, and “Miles” She's been Executive Assistant and Production Coordinator on feature films including: “The Little Death” with Producer Chris Zarpas for Island Pictures, “Don’t Be A Menace….” with Producer Keenan Ivory Wayans and “The Warrior of Waverly Street” with Producer Jennie-Lew Tugend.
New Jersey native Writer/Director Alain Matz of Candiland Productions has spent most of his career creating music videos and commercials, as well as a number of independent projects. He was Head Writer on Megas XLR” at Cartoon Network. From there, Alain went on to Story Edit “Pucca” on Disney’s Jetix network. Alain continues to be involved in the development of projects for Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, and Disney. Alain also wrote and produced the independent horror film, “Sasquatch Hunters,” which was released by Sony Home Entertainment and aired on the SyFy Channel.

Her digital series Crazy Bitches - Seasons 1 & 2 released August 2019. Her short film, Dinner For Four is enjoying an active festival run. She is currently in post on a VR narrative short film, based on her feature script, Don't Come Over. Her first feature as a director was Meth Head. The film played over 30 international festivals, won 12 awards including, Best Feature, Best First Feature, Best Director, Best Screenplay. and released June 2014 through Random Media. Her second feature as director, Crazy Bitches earned the dubious distinction of being one of the top ten illegally downloaded films its opening weekend. The film played over 25 international festivals in 6 months, won Best Ensemble Cast and was nominated for Best Feature, Best Supporting Actress and Best Soundtrack. The film released in February 2015 through Gravitas Ventures. Jane also produced Elena Undone for writer/director Nicole Conn, (Little Man, Claire of the Moon.) The film has played successfully on the festival circuit and is a best seller with Wolfe Releasing.

Robyn is a native Californian whose work in theater and independent film as an actress there has prepared her for what she sees as the inevitable leap into film directing and producing. Robyn's current focus is bringing Appleseeds to the film festival audience and hosting screening benefits for the victims of domestic violence. She is also in development on the feature film "Clovis 9" with her Appleseeds collaborator, Ashley Perryman Quach. Robyn is also slated to direct her first feature this fall, Shesus of Abalene. In November 2008, Robyn teamed up with actresses Jill Bennett, Cathy DeBuono and award-winning writer/actress Ann Noble to create the web series "We Have To Stop Now." Entering it's second season in 2009, and with the first season being distributed by Wolfe Releasing, the series has made it’s mark at the top gay and lesbian film festivals in the world and become one of the top web series of it's genre.

THERESA DAVIS discusses Queer Activism & Authenticity, Slam & Queer Poetry, and her books and crafts. THERESA DAVIS was born into a family of writers and entertainers, she was naturally drawn to the arts. She shares her journey through several creative mediums. Theresa designed and created Ebony Angels, a line of hand-crafted dolls, Mental Notes (hand-crafted books) and a clothing line for children. A teacher for over 20 years, she has become an expert at using the arts across the curriculum. In 2002, Theresa joined forces with her mother and brother to form the spoken word performance group MoDaSo (Mother / Daughter / Son) and released two music CDs entitled, "This is for Family" and "The Uncivil War". She has self-published five collections of poetry: Torn, Head Games, Touched, Rock Star Poet, The Truth About Jaguars and Simon Says. She has gone on to forge an impressive career as a solo performer, winning poetry slams and featuring at spoken word venues around Atlanta and the nation, as well as leading writing and performance workshops and headlining conferences across the southeast. On May 22, 2011, Theresa received a proclamation from the City of Atlanta, making the date "Theresa Davis Day", in celebration of her win at The Woman of the World Poetry Slam, in which she represented Atlanta. In 2012, Theresa became the recipient of the Emerging Artists Grant and was named the McEver Chair in Writing at Georgia Institute of Technology.

Ahmed Sirour is a multi-faceted performing artist, composer, arranger, producer and sound engineer from Brooklyn, NY. The self-taught musician has collaborated with a global roster of artists, DJs and producers, and has developed a cult following for his creative remixes and soulful compositions & arrangements, with many that have even focused on issues of social consciousness. Ahmed has worked with world-renowned DJs (e.g. DJ Spinna, Rich Medina, & DJ Kemit, among others), and his remixes and mash-ups have covered songs by Quantic, The Foreign Exchange, Robert Glasper, Jill Scott, Lalah Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, John Legend & The Roots, The Fatback Band/Faith Evans, Heavy D/The Supremes, and many more.Sirour has released several individual tracks, among them a Bossa Nova Remix of Blue Note recording artist & 2X Grammy-winner, Robert Glasper’s “Move Love,” that received considerable attention online and even landed a front page feature on Okayplayer.com. In addition, a cover of Mongo Santamaria’s “Afro Blue,” once again with longtime collaborator, Cleveland P. Jones, also received strong reception and rave reviews worldwide via international blog-sites and radio play.
