The Weekly Call
By Amer Abu Shakra, Austin Trudeau, & John Morgan III
The Weekly CallMay 06, 2024
Ep 259 | Disruptive Trends in Post-Covid Business Landscape
John and Austin discussed the changes in the business landscape since the Covid-19 pandemic started and its impact on their respective painting and roofing businesses. They identified trends where customers were increasingly more price-sensitive, and the high-end options were becoming less popular, posing challenges for their sales teams. Despite their company's policy against price negotiation, their competitors were dropping their prices significantly, leading to a gap in the market that their company did not intend to fill. They also discussed the challenges of offering financing options due to high-interest rates and the impact of a rival company's price cuts on their business. The conversation revealed the complex dynamics of the competitive landscape and the need for their company to adapt to changing customer behavior.
Ep 258 | WE BACK (finally)
Austin faced a challenge related to his podcast and was required to answer two out of three questions, but could only manage to answer one due to potential hacking. John and Amer participated in the discussion, which included issues regarding system access and the consequences of copyright violations. A humorous discussion about the "Bridge of Death" scene from Monty Python's "Quest for the Holy Grail" ensued, with Rydel and John taking turns answering the questions posed by the bridgekeeper. The conversation also involved a light-hearted discussion between Amer and Austin, reminiscent of a Monty Python sketch, where they posed various questions to each other. John noted that this was similar to a recent experience with Austin.
Ep 184 | How To Get Leads In The Winter
In this weeks episode, John and Amer uniquely covered about 90% of the episode without Austin! Crazy we know.
The reason being was that Austin was driving back from Toronto, got stuck in traffic (typical Toronto) and so the guys weren’t able to jump on his usual zoom link… This meant that Amer had to use his zoom link and funny enough when Austin got back home, John and Amer respectfully had all their devices turned off to be able to focus on their conversation, and so Austin spent some time crying in the Patreon group chat instead of jumping on the call 😂
Contact wise, this is an incredibly valuable conversation for our Student Works listeners and anyone else growing their own business.
Ep 183 | Revenue is Vanity, Profit is Sanity, Cash is Reality
Do you guys remember when drop shipping was popular? Some of the people who thought they found success would come back and say “oh I made $3 million on this cup!” But what were the profits like?
Amer points out that one of the reasons he wanted to work with Patrick is that he is actively managing a successful business and franchise. Of course that protects objections during sales, but more importantly it’s evidence that his line of business is actually what generates the most revenue for his career. This is different from random drop shippers in New Zealand (for example) telling you they’ve gotten rich off of drop shipping while they’re making most of their money off of selling courses.
Ep 182 | Finding A Life Partner
In this weeks podcast, Austin Amer and John take a deep dive into the lens Amer currently holds on his love life.
The sense of purpose that you can drive out of the love you can have of another human being can benefit you tremendously.
These are the main benefits that John has described seeing for Amer:
- It would be outstandingly humbling
- He thinks Amer could “unfuck himself” in that, his level of compassion and empathy for others would skyrocket being in love.
- In order to attract a mate that you actually want, you have to step up your own game. For example, when you go into the dating pool and date a bunch of women. For most of those cases you’ll find out “holy shit this is not at all what I want”. And then you might come to the realization that what you want is not something that you necessarily deserve, therefore, I need to step up my game to acquire a more high-quality mate.
Ep 181 | Why You Can't Sell Your Sales People
The greatest sales people aren’t necessarily the people who can bring a “no” to a “yes”. The greatest sales people are the ones who can recognize when their ideal client is in front of them, and help them make decisions that will improve their current condition.
In this week’s podcast, Amer talks about the new challenges that come with leading a sales team and how the experience has brought a new light to his own talents.
He uses this phenomenal analogy – if you’re baking and your cookies turned out amazing because you added a little bit more vanilla extract than usual, and someone who tries your cookies asks you what you did differently to make them so amazing this time, unless you’re an incredible baker it might be hard for you to pinpoint. You might end up telling people that you added more sugar this time… and when they try it they won’t get the same result that you did.
Ep 180 | How Do You Deliver Empathy?
Empathy (noun): the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.
A baby isn’t in a position to understand wrong from right… which is why everyone just likes babies right? What’s there to not like about a baby? They’re very simple creatures - they live to eat, sleep, and take mysterious dumps :)
In this podcast, Austin, Amer and John take a deep dive into what empathy looks like in their lives.
John gives an example of how he’s had a recent experience getting in touch with his sister, who he doesn’t share much of a relationship with in her adulthood, where he provided her with his honest truth on his opinion on her pending divorce.
It seems that empathy has a logic focus in the masculine brain and empathy has an emotion/relationship focus in the feminine brain.
Ep 179 | How Far are you Willing to go for A Client? ft. The Weekly Ballers!
The Patreon Fall Retreat Episode!!!
Austin, Amer, and John spend the weekend with the Weekly Ballers at a Whistler Lodge discussing last week’s topic of “is love a cloak?”, and compare that to a circumstance Amer is experiencing in TradeArc where his commitments to his clients get confusing.
Although Amer’s primary commitments are to his employees and shareholders, what’s the line of what you’ll do for your clients? Who else is going to challenge them? Who else is going to help them improve their retirement situation for themselves and their spouse, or give them time back with their kids? And who’s going to hit the monthly company goals? Who’s going to generate the input needed for TradeArc? How are you going to have the biggest impact?
We know that Amer has a client that would 100% be a fantastic candidate for his program if he was a bachelor but it becomes complicated when there’s the factor of him being a married man.
At some point the Patreons get a little stressed that our dads Austin and John have started fighting but it was pretty great to see it live regardless. No doubt after the recording it’s always all love so don’t be too worried 😂
And fyi contrary to John’s immediate attack on Merlyn, he doesn’t blink when he looks at her. Like a freak
- your wives will agree to being stay at home wives (if they do) likely because they have an agreement with you because that’s what’s best for your relationship and what you both want
- Let’s say the actual cost of paying a stay at home mom is like somewhere between $50k-$75k idk, but you’d pay Tricia for example a lot more money because the compatibility she has with you is so much more valuable than that
- Amer you’re asking if Tricia’s recommitted to John’s asks but if he’s saying her family’s given her a completely different lifestyle that isn’t much of a fair commitment to ask her to make she doesn’t know what this future looks like and I’m sure she’d hope the answer is yes she can do it and become someone that can thrive
- It’s the most optimal for Amer to focus his time on hiring a coach to take on these types of obstacles with clients
- Do you have a method to teach them?
- If not this one very rigorous example to move through might be in your benefit so you can train someone to manage it

Ep 178 | Is Love A Cloak?
If you are in a romantic relationship, do you hold your significant other to a higher or lower standard than how you would hold... say an employee?
In this week's episode, Austin, Amer, and John have a pretty tough conversation that lots of us can relate to on the expectations and acceptance of your romantic partner. If your partner is continuously not fulfilling on their commitments to you, do you think it's possible that expectations should be renegotiated? Is it possible that your partner committed to certain things because they're afraid of disappointing you? Do you think there are hierarchies in romantic relationship? Should there be?...
Opportunities that Amer mentioned:
- There's an opportunity to be more flexible in defining a "man's role" and "woman's role"
- There's an oppportunity around excuse making and load management. Maybe you're creating a space where it's difficult for your significant other to have a conversation on their load managment.
- For someone who is highly logical and analytical, there may be a lot of natural resistance against having an emotional understanding of a woman's needs. There is an opportunity to practice that emotional understanding to satisfy your significant other's emotional needs so that she's also satisfied in the relationship enough to reciprocate your logical needs.
- When speaking about shooting averages we may not have resonable metrics to measuring our partner's success rate. There's an opportunity to see this relationship as less transactional.
Extra Timestamps
- 31:45: When someone comes to work for John's company, it's the same life long commitment he feels to help them achieve their best life.
- 1:05:15: What are you optimising for in life? Do you believe your relationship with your significant other is sourced from the need to optimize your business?
- 1:30:00: Opportunities Amer has mentioned

Ep 177 | Money Is A Raw Material
While discussing the testimonials of TradeArc (0:50) Amer mentions the few strategies he's implemented to audit the learning of his clients. John then breaks down why recurring income is not necessarily better than one off sales through his personal experiences of buying Bubly cans. In the current model, there's no switching cost and it's not purchased as a subscription... so there's clearly something sticky about this Pepsi product.
Not all recurring income is actually recurring and some one-time sales may actually become recurring income.
Similar to Amer's business, James and himself have had multiple conversations on how in their industry of consulting, can they lower the "cost per acquisition" and increase the "value over lifetime".

Ep 176 | Beliefs and How They're Formed
The guys revisit last week's conversation on a much more... *peaceful* note than the somewhat spicy end to the last episode. We agree that what Amer wants is to make sure Austin's challenged without a glass ceiling on the upsides... after all THIS IS THE GET PAID PODCAST for goodness sake!!!
Austin also acknowledges that she has a way better ability today to hear opinions like what Amer and John shared last week and stand beside it. In years prior, it could've been expected that he would completely vacate that entire conversation from his head because of how it made him feel I'm sure a lot of us can relate to vacating conversations that make us uncomfortable… It's important to remind ourselves that growth is usually uncomfortable.
Later on in the podcast Austin shares his memories on his recently passed grandfather, Terry
Here are some extra rough time stamped notes from our incredible BTS Gabe:
- 1:37: Correlation between competence of a man and the quality of the food at his wedding (lol)
- 1:42-2:00: Discussion on Edibles
- 2:18: John not happy running his business
EP 175 | Lane Martin, CEO & Co-Founder of Modern PURAIR
We first dive into Lane’s business history and also get a little bit of insight into Tristan’s childhood. Then we discuss the mentors that have shaped Lane’s knowledge and mindset so far - including his one hour coffee chat with the owner of 1-800-GOT-JUNK! (Pretty ridiculously awesome gift from his wife) then we get to some highly transferrable advice and we can all start implementing in our business strategies. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this one!
Ep 174 | Coach vs. Own
Near the end of the episode, Austin and John compare their distinct desires to sound smart and being optimally financially compensated being motivators for certain decision they find themselves making.
Ep 173 | Think, that's it.
How often do you guys make time in your schedule just to think?
This week, John gets himself lost in the wilderness so Austin and Amer take on the weekend episode discussing the importance of checking in with yourself if your actions are truly in line with where you're trying to go.
Amer draws the comparison between what it means to provide a structured plan to execute what you want to accomplish versus the internal audit of just thinking about why it is you want to accomplish something. Is the accomplishment in fact aligned with the person you want to be? Are you satisfied with the sacrifices you're required to make? Is the means to the end also in integrity with your identity?
Coming up with the right questions to ask yourself may be the challenge in this case.
Let us know your thoughts!
Ep 172 | Rich Guy, Poor Guy ft. James Svetec
I had always struggled with patience because I always saw patience as a lack of ambition.
And I could never have patience and drive coexist. I just remember having this lightbulb moment where I wrote down everything I was thinking and concluded that - “Life is much more akin to a walk in a park… it’s not a marathon.”
We compare this idea to “Life is a marathon, not a sprint” but that’s not really it either… there’s nothing to accomplish. One day, inevitably, we’ll all die.
And that’s not sad either.
So smell the f*cking roses because we’ve been given here a walk in the park. It’s literally about the journey.
James gives one fantastic example of what this looks like in his life - if any task to grow his business required him to compromise his fitness, eat healthy food, spend time with his loved ones, he just wouldn’t do it. He’d find a way to just scale his business much slower because that’s simply just not what life is about for him.

Ep 171 | Are You Blind to the Resistance in Your Life?
Resistance is a mythical concept created by American novelist Steven Pressfield that illustrates the universal force that he claims acts against human creativity.
And not just creativity, all action towards a goal.
It was first described in his non-fiction book The War of Art and elaborated in the follow-up books Do The Work and Turning Pro, and in other essays.
Tune in this week to hear Austin, Amer, and John discuss what resistance feels like in their businesses as they move from lower spheres to higher spheres.
Ep 170 | Amer is Pissed
Austin and Amer had a conversation in Toronto when Austin visited for his birthday, and Amer just hasn't been able to stop contemplating it.
"I was thinking about you! and your level of skill sets and your background. If I was you and I had the information that I have now, after Student Works I would've gone shopping for offers. Context: Austin is negotiating is compensation package with Rydell. I'm just surprised that you didn't kind of like sit down with TradeArc, sit down with Rydell, sit down with Shine, sit down with Pure Air, sit down with ProWorks - maybe you have and you just haven't told us.
But if I was in your position, I would have a bit of a cockiness around me – like hey man, I know how to do these things, here's the people that are interested in me, and I would've start a quasi-bidding war where you could've signed a 3 year contract or something.
Like you are a number one pick coming out of Student Works - this is something that every single operator should think about."
Ep 169 | Earning The Most OR Doing What You Love?
"Every day when I walked into school during my practicum, I walked in there and felt amazing.
I got to interact with students, I could have fun with them, I got to teach them about what I'm passionate about like theatre and literature and English.
That just lights me up with passion and energy and that was something I'd never really got from a corporate position of any kind.
I had moments of it in sales but I didn't in production. It was something that always stressed me out more than anything else.
I find it with school I can handle kids being ornery or whatever and I think that I could actually have a tremendous impact on some of these kids - and I hope to have that!" - Gabe, on his awaiting career path in education.
Listeners, what passions, talents, or inclinations have you sacrificed to try having the financial impact, you hope to have?
Ep 168 | Piece Rate vs. Profit Sharing
It's really difficult to coordinate 20 people.
Especially for meeting and specifically, for a sense of team camaraderie - although this can also be achieved by making sure individual crews feel like they're a part of a unit instead of focussing on crew to crew relations. Jocelyn helps out with this on John's team by getting everyone lunch - which takes about a week to get done lol
Another thing that really attracts employees is "Profit Sharing".
Many people have negative connotations with Peace Rate but no one has this type of connotation to Profit Sharing. Also, Profit Sharing is incredibly simple!
You can just say "hey, I charge a flat rate to my clients, I have a certain amount of hours budgeted for a job, if you do that in less time, I will share that profit with you, assuming you qualify."
Ep 167 | Be the Soul of Your Business ft. Tristan Martin
I played the game so differently for so many years because I had to.
I had very good mentor habits – which have now led me to have very good decision making that aren't necessarily how I can make the most money.
Looking at the re-organization of my sales structure, I looked at how much the sales department was making, and I wasn’t sure it was truly worth it for them to be taking such a large percentage of the profits.
When I hired this one guy that had all this experience, I was truly weary about things that seemed guaranteed about this person.
I also had other influences asking me “at your level, do you really need to be mentoring another person?”
These conversations made me appreciate some things that I wasn’t looking at before for example - work ethic.
If I can’t duplicate myself - I thought I’d be able to teach one of my skills to someone who would take it as an entire role. And I expected them to be better than me because of it and and that’s a bias, that’s just not true.
You need to be able to sit down with an individual and say:
- these are my expectations
- this is how you can meet them
- and this is what it looks like when you’re winning
and then put that on an employment agreement.

Ep 165 | Gangster's Paradise
I went outside my comfort zone on Friday.
“I went out on Friday and two great things happened, I was getting outside of my comfort zone where I was open to being rejected, and so I was open to approaching girls that I find very attractive. And that’s been so great stepping outside of my comfort zone there I definitely suffered more in my mind than I actually did in reality.
The second thing was that I was waiting in line to get into this place on Friday with my friends – I’ve been going out more on Fridays because I think I need to start becoming more social and actually start going for rejections - it’s my goal now that I need to get rejected by at least two women that I think are extremely attractive in a night.
So in line, I approach this bouncer to ask if we could be let in since we genuinely just wanted to go grab a bite in there - this place had awesome pizza. And while this is happening, this guy behind me just started straight harassing me… and I found that it didn’t affect me at all… I looked at him and saw that we were cut from the same cloth, he has a spirit like my own he’s probably going through some shit. ” - AA

Ep 164 | Should You Save A Stranger’s Life?
'I got a text this week from a foundation called "The Gift of Life Marrow Registry":
“Hi Austin, this is Jacqueline from the gift of life registry. You swabbed your cheek in 2018 and have been identified as a potential match to a patient.”
I filled out this health questionnaire and then they called me immediately and they go "Hey, this is Austin? This is Zach from The Gift of Life Marrow Registry, you are a perfect match for a patient with leukaemia in the US. Okay so, what this is all about is you either donate stem cells or bone marrow depending on what the needs of the patient of which is currently unclear – there’s a huge process to understand that.'
If you were given an opportunity, would you be willing to save a stranger's life?
Ep 163 | What Parts of Your Past Are You Fighting?
Everyday I would wake up...
I would be anxious while waiting for the bus...
When I got to work, I would be anxious thinking to myself "fuck, what am I doing with my life?"...
Then after work, my friends and I would get in one truck, go to a park, get insanely high, and play grounders on a playground.
My life didn't feel easier back then having less responsibilities than I do now. That to me, was a way harder life than what I'm living now. At the time, the drive that I had to have to just escape that part of my life, is a lot more than the drive I have now to achieve the next level of my business.
Listeners, what are the parts of your past that you're fighting?
Ep 162 | Our Oh Sh*t Moment
“I know for a fact that at any given moment I have a year’s worth of expenses fully covered no matter what the fuck happens” - John Morgan III
Other than the government mandating the need for driving insurance which by the way John does not agree with, make no mistake – John is completely unwilling to incurred the costs of possible damages which may occur while driving without insurance.
Here is then a challenge – can the same peace of mind not be accomplished through stoicism and mindset.
Is it fair to say that your peace of mind is dependent on the amount of money you have in your bank account? Cash is a method of weathering storms in today’s society. Listeners, at what point do you feel like you’re sacrificing peace for preparedness?

Ep 161 | Social Media - Tool or Game?
How come there’s businesses out there that have shitty employees? Oh… You’re telling me that these businesses haven’t been going through hiring processes that include interviews? Okay! Well no wonder!
And now, we are seeing single mothers and broken families on the rise… oh! And you’re also telling me that none of these people had a sit down dinner with the family before having babies all willy-nilly?!
Father’s Day is indeed an interesting date to have this conversation.
Listeners, how many of you can relate to Amer saying that he only uses social media to post his own content but feels guilty knowing that his friends are going to show him love and he doesn’t do the same back!

Ep 160 | We Talkin' About...PRACTICE?!?
Ladies and gentle lads! This week we get to witness one of the glorious perks of a position on The Weekly Call Podcast team... to be roasted to char whenever you slip... thank GOD it wasn't a GAME... it was JuSt PrAcTicE...... when these burn wound recover, I'll be grateful...
On another note, John's been having some fun doing adventurous personal investigation work to figure out what investors are most optimal for his business. He points out that there's certain tasks where the anticipation of the task sucks A LOT MORE than just doing the task!
- For John, it's doing a sales call… because the first one's pretty good, then we might be able to do some more that could be a lot better! And if the first one kind of sucked… Then we got to get one and that's a good one before we close off the task!
- For Amer, it was getting his butt to the gym!
Amer also shares an interesting story about how in spite of practising basketball very frequently in his childhood and being ambitious to make the NBA, the distribution of time spent on developing certain skills wasn't exactly optimized in hindsight. This is probably a scenario that lots of us run into with just not knowing enough about how to improve certain skills!
Listeners, let us know where you've audited your strategies and discovered something drastically different!
Ep 159 | MORTgages
In this weeks episode, Austin, Amer, and John, discuss their knowledge of mortgages including how mortgages are designed, what they entail, and how they react differently in different economic states. And as you can tell by the title… The first four letters are capitalized to give a bilingual play on words… Because MORT means DEAD

Ep 158 | Should Loneliness Be Escaped?
Once you start spending time with yourself… you notice all the things you want for yourself. How could you be with others when you can’t even be with yourself?
Listeners, have you ever taken yourself out for a dinner and a movie? 😉
Austin, Amer, and John, have an interesting conversation this week about how if you don’t like being alone you may suffer from not liking things about yourself. Amer suggests that we write those things down and go make an effort to fix it.
There’s people we all know that we just don’t like spending too much time around – whether it’s because they swear a lot, have some bad vibes, they don’t take care of their health etc. That could very well be you.
Theory by Amer: Superman lives in the Fortress of Solitude. Maybe there’s something to be said about a man’s power and the amount of time he spends alone.
EP 157 | Are You An Impatient & Autocratic Leader?
In this weeks podcast, Merlyn (me) shares an ongoing challenge that she’s been having that Austin identifies with - a personality combination of impatience and neuroticism.
Meaning that you’re very impatient to drive results in your life, so you’re never willing to stop working, and you want to control all variables at all times for optimal results. Austin shares that he has an immense amount of discomfort leaving his business in the hands of anyone else for an extended period of time because neuroticism also plays into seeing the worst case scenario when there’s no control.
Listeners, I would absolutely love to know which one of you feel that you share these traits and how you feel this lethal combo plays out in different areas of your life.

EP 156 | Audaciously Auditing Austin
EP 156 | Audaciously Auditing Austin
In this week’s episode, Austin shares how despite him being a part of The Weekly Call, he continues to practice behaviours that are counter to his goals.
He admits that he hasn’t read a book in five months, he hasn’t meditated in five months, he hasn’t had an impromptu date night with Miranda in a long time all in while his business has sustained success and continues to hit its milestones.
John points out that balancing various areas of your life - balancing health, wealth, love, and happiness, are critical to seeing quality of life improve in general.
Amer provides a great analogy of cumulating water to nurture your plants then delaying watering your plants because you’re intending to accumulate even more water for it.
There is so much to learn from this conversation for everyone who chooses to prioritize career advances over other aspects of life, and in turn is unsatisfied with their life.
Later on in the episode, the guys also have an interesting conversation about how they would be considering their lifestyle in the midst of a recession.

EP 155 | Why Do You Do Certain Things?
EP 155 | Do You Know Why You Know Certain Things?
In this week’s podcast, Amer does some interesting probing into Austin‘s habits of running his business.
How many times do you think you’ve given up doing the executive tasks you need to be doing because you’ve gotten caught up in administrative tasks instead?
Easier said than done - I think most of us would agree that if you’re running your own business you want to in fact be consumed with tasks like systemizing the role of your irreplaceable employees (shout out to Jocelyn and Gabe 😎) so they are in fact duplicatable or replaceable in the event that it’s needed! Instead I’m sure many of us get caught up doing the tasks of these employees ourselves because we end up not staying focused on our roles in the company.

Ep 154 | Start Living Today & Start Living, Today.
In this week's episode, the guys share some interesting stories about how they have evolved in learning through their businesses over the years.
When Austin is in a scenario where he is marketing and he removes himself from his attachments of doing it for six years, he is able to look past his ego and “considerations” about what kind of a marketer he is. Although you may have many transferrable skills from your past experiences, it's important to acknowledge that you are in a fresh craft and learning scenario.
On a similar note, John had his ass humbly handed to him by a lady who goes by the name of Michelle who was legally blind when he started jujitsu for the first time. Although we may all feel that we can handle ourselves in a fight sometimes, we simultaneously don't know what we don't know about fighting either.

We’ve gotten feedback over the years that our listeners are big fans of EXORCISMS
Although that might sound like a bit extreme – we are not talking about real exorcisms here :)
It is a “thought exorcism” or “belief exorcism”. Even though Austin, John, and Amer are close and notably similar in many ways, they have their own blind spots about how to best live their lives and how their beliefs have been developed over time. I’m sure it’s relatable for all of us who have weekly calls to see how they are ✨constructively ✨quick to call each other our on their BS 😂
We would love to know who you have in your life that calls you out on your bull 💩😂 and what that bull 💩 is! Slide in our DMs and let us know!

EP 152 | Thirsty
👀🚨BRACE YOURSELF FOR SOME HOT TAKES 🚨👀
Although this topic might be a little taboo, the guys have done a very interesting analysis this week on how their relationships with their partners including their individual fulfilment on health, wealth, love, and happiness can be improved by their partners taking on the role of a stay at home wife and mom.
Shockingly, a very* single* Amer has masterminded the responsibilities of the ideal stay at home wife and mom to Take Care of Your Mindset, Increase Your Knowledge, and Participate in Accountability Groups which align with the goals of your household.
On the wonderful off chance that the boys don’t get cancelled for this one 🥰 slide in our DMs and let us know your thoughts on this topic!

Ep 151 | Should You Stay Friends?
This week… after 150 episodes… we have John and Amer… without Austin… have a very interesting discussion on how your obstacles your new path to take in life.
“The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”
- the structure for Ryan Holiday's new book The Obstacle Is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph
“Failing to prepare is preparing to fail”: Amer discusses where the mindset has been for a lot of the trades people who join TradeArc, where they are not being reactive to obstacles rather than proactive to resolve them/mitigate them.

EP 149 | Defining Proficient Coaching
We have a really brilliant episode for you today with something that’s something super important to optimizing a business or career...
It comes down to coaching.
We talk about coaching so much on this podcast, it’s such an important topic, I know that sometimes we can brush past this topic and quickly look past it but in this weeks episode Amer and John discuss the strategies that help differentiate a really outstanding coach to an average one.
Listeners, if you are a coach, we would love to hear your feedback specifically on this episode! Please reach us through Instagram DM and let us know your story!

EP 148 | Can You Be An Ethical Cheater?
We have a jampacked episode for you this morning! A little bit of a dabble into the world “ethical cheating“ and then a bit of a dabble into how economies of scale will change in the metaverse - John has an incredible theory on what virtual nightclubs could look like.
Not sure how everyone feels about our conversations about the metaverse but here we are again 🤪 we would love to hear your opinions about these conversations in our DMs!
And finally, we have a little bit of a role reversal with Wack vs. Wise which YOU WILL NOT WANT TO MISS

EP 147 | Stepping Out of High Highs and Low Lows
This week Amer, Austin, and John discussed the theory and understanding of how if you’re celebrating highs, you don’t give your brain a choice of being negative in the lows.
It becomes very difficult to remain stoic and indifferent in times you face push back from the world if you are continuing to celebrate the opposite of that.
We are really interested in hearing how you guys have approached this philosophy in your own lives and your business and if you have any different opinions from what we discussed in our podcast today!

EP 146 | How Do Stack Up Against Others in the Market?
John absolutely milks the drama for this analogy 😂
In this weeks episode, Amer, Austin, and John discuss how they would give themselves the reputation of someone desirable to work for – not just offer someone a job.
~~ The core ideology that has served him throughout life, Munger said, is the knowledge that the “safest way to try and get what you want is to try and deserve what you want.” (cnbc.com) ~~
Being a good employer puts you in a position of deserving good employees. If you’re asking yourself what makes a good employer?
Let’s look at the sure fire way you can make sure that your good employees quit on you:
- pay them late,
- treat them disrespectfully,
- have no communication with them,
- don’t give them a steady flow of work,
- don’t have an online schedule,
- don’t have safety policies
Make sure you’re the opposite of that^^^ and you’re probably on a course of successfully maintaining a happy crew 👷♂️

EP 145 | A Meta Conversation
Austin, John (aka Slenderman), Amer dive into a conversation about the meta-verse. It’s a pretty amazing conversation because all three of them know pretty little about the ✨meta-verse✨ but interestingly enough they do explore the possibilities of events transpiring so if you want to be thoroughly entertained or thoroughly frustrated this is a conversation for you.

Ep 144 | Building EQ Through IQ
“To get what you want, you have to deserve what you want. The world is not yet a crazy enough place to reward a whole bunch of. undeserving people.” - Charlie Munger
In this week‘s podcast, these guys are literally all over the place so get yourselves ready for a diverse and spicy conversation, exploring the ✨ Intersection of business, mindset, and philosophy✨
Amer discusses some patterns he’s began to see in his industry and dives into a YouTube video he’s created for tradesmen who are coming out of jail.
The guys then dive into a conversation discussing the skill set of being able to coach a diverse range of people.
Listeners, do you feel that the skill set will provide you amazing results in your own life? We would love to hear your story!
John also may be the most mysterious man we’ve ever met. How LOW KEY was that engagement for how MASSSSSIVE THAT ROCK IS

Ep 143 | How Often Do You Say "No"?
We have a bit of a reflective episode for you here today, we want to know how often you guys say “no”. Austin has a realization after talking to Amer and John, that he personally says “no” a lot less than he thinks he does.
Not to say that saying yes is bad, it just seems to be a reflection of the perceived control you have over your life.
We really look deep into this phenomenon this week, leading into a conversation of where The Weekly Call started compared to where it is now.
We would love your feedback on this conversation!

Ep 142 | The KPIs of a Good Conversation
We have an incredibly interesting podcast this week where Amer discusses why he's decided to coach mindset in his consulting business, given that all of his clients are in a different reality. We also get into discussing the power of restoring integrity as a team.
Very differently, believe it or not – John has now tried Instagram after 25 years on this planet. If you want to hear a very fascinating feedback session on his experiences with the ever popular social media platform, dial in EP 142.
EP 141 | From Franchisee to Realtor ft. Megan Shpyth
This week, we have our first guest in a long time!
Megan Shpyth, a realtor from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
In this conversation she shares about her successes and failures, her unique abilities and her outlook on life. Megan’s an incredibly intellectual person who was a completely open book in this conversation so that Austin, Amer, and John were able to dissect all that she’s accomplished in her life - which by the way, as you will hear, is quite the extensive list!
For all of the young business owners who are interested in real estate, this will be an extra educational episode for your knowledge whether you want to move towards real estate in your future career path or use real estate as an income source down the road!

Ep 140 | Why You Can't Do The Work
We decided to release this following presentation Amer gave at business conference with 225 new business owners that were all coming together to discuss best practises for their businesses this year. Amer was invited to speak in front of all of them on a very unique topic that we don’t believe is discussed often enough in 2022.
We couldn't even tell you the number of times we've talked about mindset - hell, this presentation talks about mindset.
We are changing the pace today by talking about brain functionality and how it plays into your mindset, integrity, and all the other characteristics you need to run a successful business and even further - a fulfilling life.
EP 139 | Do You Own a Business or a Job?
This week, Austin, John, and Amer, discuss the experience needed to launch a business.
This is a highly debated topic when it comes to trades especially, if you ask a lot of trades people, you’ll hear that you need to be an *absolute master* of your craft to launch your own business. However, doing this you may run into the risk that you will run more of a job than your own business. If you are your best employee how could you possibly trust someone else to manage your business?
We are very very interested to know your feedback on this! Please give us feedback in the DMs!

If you were going to start a business tomorrow, would it be franchised or would it be on your own?
This week, Amer, Austin, and John discuss the pros and cons of having a franchise or your own business as well as what it means to build a powerful business specifically within a franchise – when you have less competition but there’s many people doing the same thing as you.

Ep 136 | Are New Year’s Resolutions Still Effective?
Let’s talk about New Year’s Resolutions!
In this week’s episode, Amer, Austin, and John discuss the effectiveness of New Year’s resolutions they’ve set, what they were, and if it helps them achieve their goals.
Every day we focus on our little goals.
A smoker doesn’t need to tell himself, “Hey, you’re not allowed to smoke anymore”, a smoker just needs to tell himself “Hey, you’re not gonna smoke today… who knows what tomorrow holds, but today, I’m not going to smoke.”
Listeners, did you set any New Year’s Resolutions? Have they helped you improve your lifestyle? Slide in our DMs to tell us your story!

Ep 135 | Is This The Year You Finally Adopt An Abundance Mindset?
In this week’s episode, Austin shares a valuable less than that he’s learned over the years – to adopt and abundance versus scarcity mindset.
When you’re starting a new business for the first time, it can be difficult to have an abundance mindset because you make constantly feel like you are looking down the barrel of a gun with all the pressure surrounding you.
If you are trying to onboard someone as a client and they are presenting you with objections and in that moment, you have a feeling of “I have to win this” or “wow this person keeping throwing a lot at me”, it is important to remember this is just a part of that person’s process. For that person to decide on your business, they’re putting you through their process and that’s okay. They’re taking the steps they need to, in order to sign on with you.
As soon as you believe that you literally shift from a scarcity mindset to abundance mindset!
On the other hand, Amer realizes that he wanted quick success when he started his business.
When you’re trying to run your own business and especially conduct a sale, nothing replaces being an expert, being a figure of authority, and earning the trust of people. Just finding a goldmine for advertising simple doesn’t do that – like running Facebook ads. You got to actually do the hard work.
After Amer picked up the gray work of running his business (since landing in Texas till release of Episode 135), it’s shown amazing results!
