The Xbox Wrap Up

This is the final episode of the show. It's been a fun experience and a good lesson in content creation and time management. Thanks for all the support you've given me.

This week in the Xbox Wrap Up we take a look at the games coming in Oct for Games with Gold and PS Plus Essentials. I share my experience with playing Grounded available now on Gamepass as well as Deathloop. This week we saw some pretty large leaks from hackers and instead of focusing too much on that, I wanted to chat about the latest partnership with Xbox, Nvidia, Tencent, and Logitech. There's new hardware is an interesting choice and not one that I think many people will want to pick up but we'll have to wait and see. There was a nice quality-of-life update to the Xbox consoles this week as well as a change to the Xbox Elite controller. Lots of showcases to cover this week as we had Disney + Marvel Games Showcase, Ubisoft Forward, Nintendo Direct, PlayStation State of Play, and the Tokyo Gameshow to talk about. Really it seems like the industry is moving forward three months in terms of announcements and releases, learning that they can still have a good holiday season with typical sales but a better first quarter if they push titles out to February. This week in Xbox news has Jim Ryan calling the deal with Call of Duty "Inadequate" and I have to say I'm not impressed. There are some updates out now to Xbox Party Chat as well as some possible future updates to the Home Screen. Xbox is releasing a new addition to the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller and it's not the Series 3. There's a Game of Thrones Series S sweepstakes going on till Oct. (https://twitter.com/Xbox/status/1567899359630467072). There's also good and bad news for Cyberpunk 2077 and former Square Enix studios will be able to make future Tomb Raider and Deus Ex.

This week we have some bummers coming from 343i as well as Naughty Dog as fans are disappointed with the state of updates for Halo and the Collector's Editions showing up damage for The Last of Us Part 1. Some good deals this week and we find out that The Calisto Protocol may have zombies both in the game and out with their work culture.

This week in gaming news we have to deal with Sony waking up and choosing violence, Saints Row being middling scores out the gate and all of the major announcements from GamesCom this week. I'm really excited about some of the stuff that's coming as well as some confirmations on hardware and software in the coming year. There are also a fair amount of rumors going around about other companies looking to purchase EA and how accurate those rumors actually are.

We are in the calm before Gamescom and Xbox are ready to show off more about the games that are scheduled to come out in the next year. It'll be a six-hour stream with different teams coming on to talk more about the games they're working on. We got a good heads up for fans of Call of Duty and how you can preorder to get early access to the campaign a week prior to the standard launch. Dragonball Z is invading in Fortnite and I've really enjoyed it. There's a great video talking more about Redfall that came out and how that might be the biggest game from Bethesda for me. For once we're not talking about Bobby Kotick or NFTs.

This has been an exciting week in gaming news for Xbox as Sony tries to say how bad the Activision deal will be for them, and Xbox tries to downplay what a 68 billion dollar deal will do to the industry. Also, we got confirmation that two countries are currently testing an Xbox Game Pass family plan. What will that mean for you and how can you capitalize on it? This week is making up for the missed week while I was gone and we got some really good news about Discord voice coming to Xbox later this year. You can test it now if you're on the beta ring for the OS otherwise you'll have to wait till later. We got some good news about PS5 resolution options if you're playing on computer monitors and I dive into what's coming with August's game as well as why we aren't getting any more Xbox 360 games through Games with Gold.

This week it's time to dive into Halo Campaign Co-Op's flighting and live stream. We dive into the new Playstation service Playstation Stars. I give my first impressions of Powerwash Simulator and more in this week's episode.

This week we got some really be announcements with God of War: Ragnarok and Skull and Bones releasing on Nov. 8th and 9th. I break down the collector's editions for God of War as well as the details on what Skull and Bones will be. I talk about what finally got me into Fortnite and some of the other smaller stories to come out this week!

This week it's time to cover human rights being addressed by companies in the industry once again. An amazing week just for the fact that we're getting Star Wars Jedi: Survivor news and a confirmation for the Xbox dongle. We got news that a Playstation State of Play is coming next week and it will have news from 3rd party partners and more info about the PSVR 2! God of War Ragnarok is still on track to release in 2022 and I dive into my feelings about Halo Infinite Season 2 and Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted!

Not as exciting of a news week as in the past but this week we talk about Xbox outselling Japan for the first time in years, Fall Guys going cross-platform and free to play, Saint's Row preview for outlets, the Witcher 3 maybe coming out this year as well as Assassin's Creed Origins coming to Gamepass? A busy week has made this a rough episode to get out in a timely manner, but it's still Friday and you want the news! Bethesda announced that it will be delaying Redfall and Starfield till 2023. This leaves a huge hole in Xbox exclusives for the last half of 2022, leaving many to wonder what will actually be shown at the Xbox Bethesda Showcase in June. Gotham Knights released a gameplay demo that left many excited while others question if the gameplay loop will be interesting enough. Jim Ryan talks about sitting on the fence with his two cats and a brief look at this week's big release Evil Dead: The Game.

Unreal Engine 5 is out, who is going to jump on to start developing with it? There were a lot of partnerships this week instead of buyout with Epic and Lego getting together to make a metaverse. A lighter news week but still an interesting one as we see the release of the Steam Deck, and Guardians of the Galaxy comes to GamePass. Playstation owners are getting their fill with Horizon, Elden Ring, and now Gran Turismo 7 coming out as a great racing game. While Xbox fans are looking forward to more content for Halo Infinite they will have to live with Elden Ring as their current go-to for what's hot on the Xbox. It seems silly to say so considering Elden Ring is the highest-rated game of the year and selling a ton. This week we saw the launch of Elden Ring which came out to rave reviews. It's an amazing game and if you love FromSoftware there's no reason you shouldn't pick this up. Destiny 2 Witch Queen also launched and is an awesome expansion that allows lapsed players to come back and be at the same level as all the other Guardians playing. We finally got good luck at the PS VR2 headset and I'm really hopeful for this hardware and its chances at releasing this year.
