Friendship Part Two: oh we're just friends

Friendship Part Two: oh we're just friends

Friendships are hard, complex, and often do not have defined expectations. For the next couple of episodes, we're going to navigate the complexity of friendships: how do we make them, what makes a good friend, and what happens when it's time for friendship to end? Join us on this journey!

Special thanks to Brady Dubose for mixing and producing this episode!

Disclaimer: Josh and Hannah acknowledge that this conversation does not address the complex and nuanced experiences of friendship LGBTQIA+ persons, or anyone who does not identify as cisgendered or heterosexual. They did not feel equipped to speak for those experiences, but hope to have that conversation in the future with someone who is.

Reconstruction is a dynamic life long journey

Reconstruction is a dynamic life long journey

Reconstruction can be intimidating, especially when we have more answers than questions. We hope these episodes have given you some space to ask harder questions, to be okay with the unknown, and long for a spirituality that is as vibrant and dynamic as you are.

Deconstruction reminds us that uncertainty is apart of our faith journey. This is Josh's story!

Deconstruction reminds us that uncertainty is apart of our faith journey. This is Josh's story!

Deconstruction takes your ship in a bottle and shakes it all up. This leads us to wonder, why we were building a ship in a bottle, to begin with. Faith cannot just be that which is certain. Faith requires risk, and faith changes as we discover new things about ourselves and the communities we are in. How has deconstruction affected your faith journey?

Deconstruction brings loss and also something new. Sounds like the resurrection, maybe deconstruction is a holy experience.

Deconstruction brings loss and also something new. Sounds like the resurrection, maybe deconstruction is a holy experience.

Deconstruction can be hard, scary, and isolating. We hope this episode gives you hope. The journey of deconstruction often comes with a lot of loss, but let's remember that Father Richard Rohr says "a person only experiences true change through great love or great loss". Sometimes the deconstruction journey can be both. With us, your questions are always welcomed and your voice will always be heard.

Individualism and COVID, where do we go from here?

Individualism and COVID, where do we go from here?

COVID is still here! We're tired, anxious, and don't always trust others will make the necessary choices to ensure the wellness of others. So what do we do? How do we shift our frameworks that are largely individualistic to something more communal?  Also, special thanks to Brady for hoping on the pod this episode. This episode was recorded remotely with different mics and home studio setups,  if the audio isn't as crisp that's why.

So, what is thin space?

So, what is thin space?

Hannah and Josh talk about Dallas starting to reopen, why the podcast is called thin space, and tell some stories about their personal experiences in the holy land. Also, to give some context for the episode, this was recorded on May 8th and teacher appreciation week was the week of May 4th. We had some technical difficulties in publishing the pod, but we are working on our editing and technical skills for future episodes! Don't forget to subscribe and you can follow us on Instagram @thinspacepod. For more information about Owenwood, check out our website owenwood.org

Teaser Episode

In this teaser, you'll learn about the hosts (Hannah and Josh) and hear about what we hope to accomplish together with this podcast.

We believe the church can and will be different, not because of the pandemic, but because we as people are growing and changing and our faith communities need to evolve with us. We are going to keep you engaged with what's happening locally at Owenwood Farm and Neighbor Space and in Dallas. We believe discussing the intersection of life, faith, and justice paves a way forward to understand our spiritual journeys and how we navigate the world. Don't forget to subscribe!
