How To Process Change With Ease

How To Process Change With Ease

In this episode, we talk extensively about transitions, change, and why it can be stressful as well as how to deal with it.

In this episode, we talk extensively about transitions, change, and why it can be stressful as well as how to deal with it.

A few key points to think about as you go through change in your life:

- You won't be the only person who has had to go through change even if it feels like you are.

- There are several tools out there to manage your stress level during a change.

 - Breathing exercises (meditative, 6 deep breathes, box breathing...)

- Tapping is another method and there are several tutorials out there including our last segment.

    Link to tapping video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bV9Tcg2WmY

- Another good way to deal with change to ask yourself questions about the change and if your response is knee-jerk or logical.  Chances are, it is

knee-jerk and you know deep down you will get through it.

- Lastly, it helps to realize that although there may be times when the change may not align with your values but there are unintended consequences

in our decisions and sometimes we just have to suck it up and press on.

How do you deal with change? Pitch in and share your wisdom.

The Power Of Touching Yourself

The Power Of Touching Yourself

Do you like to touch yourself to feel better?

Now I’m not being racy here…. When you have sore muscles, instinct is to self-massage to attempt to soothe your achy muscles, right?

Well, what if I told you that you could do something similar, not for sore muscle relief, but for emotional relief?

In today’s episode, Monica Riva introduces Nicolette Moore and our colleague Tricia Johnson to the concept of tapping.

Tapping is a tool that you use to help you overcome negative emotions in a way that uses meridian points on your body to release pent up negative energy.

There are all sorts of benefits that come from the practice of tapping.

If you’re interested in finding out more ways to explore the power of touching yourself to feel better, then you’re in for a treat.

Enjoy!

Show Notes:

Hi. Welcome back to, This is coaching. Today, Nicolette, Monica, and Tricia are going to discuss how you can tap into action. My name is Monica Riva. I live in Switzerland and today with me here today is Nicolette. Hi, go ahead. Where'd you come from San Antonio, Texas. Okay. And Tricia Johnson. Hi. Hi. Arvada. Colorado. Great. Wonderful. So tap tapping into action. What does that mean? We all feel stuck sometimes, right? I do too. I must admit that, I don't even realize sometimes when I feel stuck and I suppose a lot of people do have that problem. what do you think Tricia

Speaker: Yeah, I definitely, so I choose a word every year and my word this year was resolved because there are so many things that I want to do and haven't been able to do. that I knew that I was going to need to focus on action this year. So I can definitely relate to this. How about you, Nicolette

Speaker: Oh, I mean, yeah, I know a lot of times. you would use this word stuck Monica and, as a homeschooling mom of four children, well, I homeschool three of them. Another one is still nursing and trying to manage a real estate and then manage some, you know, a business and I'm creating, it's a lot on my plate at any given moment. And a lot of times, even on my, you know, with my best intentions, writing out my goals and setting down my to do's and, and thinking through what I need to do to be productive over the course of a week, I definitely feel like I can easily fall into the world of stuck. I'm just always sick, you know And I'm sure most of our listeners, if not all of the listeners can definitely relate to the feeling of being stuck.

Speaker: Yeah. Yeah. So what is the feeling like where you get stuck Like getting things done Overwhelm. I mean, there are different ways of getting stuck. Girl,

Speaker: Oh my gosh. I look around and I think about all the laundry I have to do about the cooking. I have to do about the cleaning, about the wiping butts,

Speaker: which is the whole thing. But then you throw in bills and groceries and then there's the work that you do and all the things you have to do with that. Yeah. Or it's real estate or whether it's your business or you know, we all, yeah, just want to, you missed the whole six other layers.

Speaker: Oh yeah. Yes. It is crazy. You know, and it just the, the yes. That sense of overwhelm is, it's a real thing. It's a real thing, you know, and I'm not being clear on how to spend your day or what's going to be the best use of your time. Can, can also just leave you feeling stuck, feeling like, I don't know what to do. I don't know how to get myself out of this. And it's a, it's a real, saboteur, right, of, of making the progress that you want in your life. And so I think we had talked about, or I think we had wanted to talk about productivity, especially for business....

Triggers-The Mind's Survival Response | Season 1 Episode 5

Triggers-The Mind's Survival Response | Season 1 Episode 5

In this episode we talk about triggers and how we deal with them.  These triggers are going to be different for every person as well as how they deal with those triggers.  Some people may have less things that set them off but still don’t know how to deal with them, while those who have a laundry list of pet peeves have developed a better coping mechanism.

 - A Trigger is a response in the brain that comes from our survival instinct

- Self-awareness plays big part in how you deal with your triggers

- Some triggers are harder to deal with based on your own self-awareness or confidence level in that area - No one is perfect, therefore everyone has triggers regardless of their position

- Dealing with triggers isn’t rocket science and there are a ton of ways to do it. o Pause upon recognizing the trigger o Breath deep o Tapping o Rub your fingers together o The list goes one…….

The Cliches Are True! Season 1, Episode 3- Negative Self Talk

The Cliches Are True! Season 1, Episode 3- Negative Self Talk

In Episode 3 of This is Coaching Show, Nicolette, Monica, and Marquis tackle the ever so fun topic of “Negative Self-Talk”.  Albeit a short episode, it’s still full of great insights and information.

Key Points:

-  A good question to ask is if your friends talked to you the same way you talk to yourself, would you still be their friend?

-  Negative self-talk is something we all do and most of us don’t even realize we’re doing it until someone points it out.

-  Negative talk does have lasting effects on a person.  Those negative thoughts and words turn into reality, but it’s not something has to be permanent.

-  Regardless of your belief system most religious texts say similar things about how you talk about yourself.  For example, the bible says the power of life and death come out of your mouth.

-  Your unconscious or subconscious mind and words have real world consequences whether we like it or believe it.

-  Regardless of how good your idea is, or how prepared you are for the task, it only takes a smidgeon of negative self-talk to bring down your confidence and derail your plan.

Bottom line…we have to do better to keep the negative talk out of our minds, and our mouths.  And yes the cliché “the glass is half full” mantra applies here.  Positivity promotes positivity all around us.  Let’s try to keep out thoughts on the positive side of the scale, folks!

Shake It Off! Let's talk Rejection

Shake It Off! Let's talk Rejection

In this episode Nicolette, Monica, and Marquis discuss the ever present and seemingly constant occurrence of rejection. This topic is a good follow-up to our last episode regarding failure.

Key points:

-  Rejection comes in many forms and is perceived differently by everyone.

-  As coaches, we see and experience rejection on a regular basis, but we have learned how to use the rejection or reframe the situation to a positive or learning point.

-  Whether we’re talking about family, friends, or business we will all fall victim to rejection.  Not only will we experience it once, but the fact is, it will be many times throughout our lives.  Rejection is not a one-time thing.

-  Rejection is not the end all for anyone…or at least it shouldn’t be…It is important to realize that we can face rejection and come out the other side in one piece.

-  It is also important to recognize the rejection when it happens and to give yourself some time to cope with it.  Just don’t give yourself too much time because that will have lasting effects.  Like Sean Whalen said, “It’s okay to sit in your own Sh*t for a little while, but eventually you have to get up and wipe!”

-  If we can change our view of rejection, we can turn it into a tool for growth.  The salesmen who hears 100 no’s learns a better pitch.  The entrepreneur who doesn’t nab that investor learns they weren’t a right fit anyway.  The parent who can’t seem to wrangle in their toddler understands that toddlers are like little honey badgers a learns a new way to deal with them…The list goes on. The point is, our rejection may be our saving grace at the end of the day and if we look at it as anything other than a learning experience we are doomed to live a life of negativity…and continued “perceived” rejection.

Failure Is Not A Four Letter Word

Failure Is Not A Four Letter Word

Join Nicolette Moore, Monica Riva, and Marquis Navarro as they discuss Failure in life and business.

Key points:

  • Failure causes each individual to react differently.  For some it is physical pain, for others, it is a mental reaction which can come in the form of distractions.  Then are those who may feel both physical and mental stressors due to failure.
  • Failure is very subjective, and people tend to focus on the negative side of the situation.  It is important to focus on the positive, which is the lesson learned.
  • Failing forward is a big thing to keep in mind as well.  Failing forward means to progress after the “perceived” failure by not making the same mistakes.
  • Everyone fails at some point in their life and it is important to know that you are not alone.  Folks who have failed tend to think it is lonely world and that they are unique in the area of failure.  This is not the case…take comfort in the fact that you have a large community of people who have been where you are.
  • There is no success without failure first…think of babies as they go through growing process.  As they start to attempt to walk the fall and get up, fall and get up, over and over again.  This is the first failure in the person’s life, but they learn from it and eventually that stumbling baby is running around the house.
  • Every successful person in the world with tell you they have failed in the past and that their reaction the failure is how they got to be where they are today.
