Essays but in podcast form, *kind of* like YouTube. All about the upswing, in-between, and downswing of popular culture. If it is in the zeitgeist, it might be in the podcast.

Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980)'s Suspense + Mystery In Modern Pop Culture -- Clue (1985), Family Guy (2010), Knives Out (2019)

Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980)'s Suspense + Mystery In Modern Pop Culture -- Clue (1985), Family Guy (2010), Knives Out (2019)

FYI: I HAVE THIS AIR FRESHNER THAT GOES OFF EVERY 45 MINUTES, and I got a new mic from my boyfriend sooooo you can hear it lmao. Although I got rid of background noise while editing. I love this podcast more than I love redoing those small moments. This is a good one.

The first episode to last over an hour deals with Alfred Hitchcock, who is widely regarded to be one of the greatest directors of all time -- including to me. Enjoy, anddddd Merry Christmas. I pronounce mise-en-scene like a Californian. Also… Did you get my Grammarly joke? Because everyone uses Grammarly, lmao. I am back, “sometimes.” As I edited this back, I was like, “wow, I am so excited about Knives Out.” This is the most exciting podcast to date, and I am very pumped... that's why I talk so much. :)

Covered

  1. Alfred Hitchcock (1899 - 1980);
  2. Clue (Lynn 1985);
  3. "And Then There Were Fewer" (Family Guy, 2010; S9, E1);
  4. Knives Out (Johnson 2019)

Megan Fox, The Enigma, Part 1 of 1.

Megan Fox, The Enigma, Part 1 of 1.

Welcome back friends, season two, and better than ever. A long 'un with some calm, soothing voice sounds to celebrate the premiere of whatever season I choose to be on. What a life. I have no organization for this podcast, see ya on the flip side.

OOHHHHH, I don't go in-depth about the marketing of Jennifer's Body (2009) enough, but my friend Yhara does and incredibly fucking well -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llQ_OpOl7Qg; this does it a better service than I did and I believe her interview about her wanting to do Jen's Body is referenced. I have seen that video a million times since it's been put uppppp.

I called my new mic “smoothing” which is now a new-formed word, “smooth” and “soothing” and I dig it so here I am. new mic, new me. TRIGGER WARNING: I talk about feminism and Megan Fox and Hollywood and sexism and all the terrible things you associate Hollywood with, right? Not really so much all of those in-depth, but in comparison to Megan Fox.

For some reason, I swear A LOT in this podcast, more than usual - so beware. I use the f-bomb, which I usually don’t use, I just love Megan damn Fox, okay? I was never a fan of the Olsen Twins so this passed me by in 2001, Holiday in the Sun (2001) is the film I reference as her first. In turn, the Zac Efron show is Down to Earth with Zac Efron on Netttyflix, an incredible show. You truly get another look at who he is as a person and a human being.

Honestly: I ALWAYS PRONOUNCE HIATUS WRONG, I have a hard time pronouncing words -- I have a weird tongue from my great-grandma and mom, so I deal with it. I don't realize it until I have edited the podcast and by then I am so lazyyyyy. But I know how it is pronounced, I just forget. Sorrrrrry. I just deal with it, hopefully, you can too. I literally pronounce it incorrectly every day of my life and no one corrects me because they understand my weird tongue... but I have a degree in English I promise lmao.

Why Is FRIENDS (1994-2004) A Cult Classic When LIVING SINGLE (1993-1998) Isn’t?

Why Is FRIENDS (1994-2004) A Cult Classic When LIVING SINGLE (1993-1998) Isn’t?

I talk about Living Single and FRIENDS in this episode; been bored in this quarantine so y'all get a good two-dayer. Not much to put here but I said I would, huh? What was it... I said I would put something in the description. AH! The writers of FRIENDS, do I need to? Y'all can Google that yourself, right? Good bc I'm lazy. See y'all when I see y'all. Maybe tomorrow? Maybe next month? Maybe in 2021?

What Is Riverdale?

What Is Riverdale?

I'm getting back into my groove or something like that. Stay safe, friends.

I whine about Riverdale for like fifty minutes because it sucks. Not because the acting is terrible but because the writing is. It's not changing any narrative or adding anything to the TV scene, it's just Riverdale. It exists to be Riverdale. So what makes the show so damn bad? I don't know and I won't even tell you that here, but I ramble and roast it a lot???? So if you're into that then what's good????

DISCLAIMER: Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote 6 episodes of Glee, but didn't create or write the entire series. I didn't specify that and it sounds like he made it, but he didn't so we good now?

Fake Doctor, Real Friends with Zach and Donald

124: My Last Day With Bill Lawrence and Christa Miller

OR 110: My Nickname with Bill Lawrence. I believe it is 124, but it could be either-or. Fave podcast right now, the only one I listen to -- but more importantly, wonderful inspo for television, culture, and film lovers. Wonderful talk about the creation of Scrubs and scenes.

YouTube vids of Riverdale bein'... you know... Riverdale?:

  1. Alex Meyers' series on why Riverdale is a HOT MESS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnIDso3a0XQ&list=PL-l4O2M4FfOuvHlyd6C2Vfm_jCxkF4-18
  2. A misguided young man about the promise of Season 1, Dylan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2itphl9khY
  3. This one is just comical by Lucas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-xcOV0Z-hU

I don't hate the show, I just don't love it. You get it, right? I think it's made by monkeys in the writing room honestly. OH, and my voice cracks because I'm human and my podcast is raw and real and I don't record 50 times to get it "perfect." I just record it and if I dig it, I dig it and upload it. So mistakes and imperfections are included as well as cussing because I'm a girl and I say fuck, not sorry.

If my family ever finds this podcast, you now know I swear on the internet. You're welcome and don't bring it up during the holidays. See y'all next time, maybe I will finally do GET OUT... or BLACULA... or or or CANDYMAN??? Stay tuned, I might compare them all. #BLM.

ALSO comic series was "Afterlife With Archie." Solid series tho.

The Auteur Of David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks” & Donald Glover’s “Atlanta"

The Auteur Of David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks” & Donald Glover’s “Atlanta"

1 thing. On quarantine so I have free time... Why not make my old article I never published into a podcast. I liked the concept and idea and wanted to help make y'all feel cozy with a friend during this trying time in history. See ya on the flip side; stay healthy, stay safe, and wash your damn hands, thanks. Peace! TWIN PEAKS is on Hulu and Netflix I think so you can watch it when you watch ATLANTA. Go forth and binge my friends.

Powerful Women In Wes Craven’s Horror Anthologies

Powerful Women In Wes Craven’s Horror Anthologies

In a quarantined state, I talk about Wes Craven, Women's History Month, and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET alongside SCREAM. What do these two franchises have in common? Two badass female main characters and a great auteur director behind them. Let's chat about something spooky and something interesting... BAM! Also, you can watch these on Vudu, Hulu, Netflix, and I'm pretty sure somewhere free online. SCREAM is always on streaming, NIGHTMARE is harder to find (I watched it on Vudu). Nonetheless, I hope you guys are staying safe during this lockdown and see ya next time on Today... In Pop Culture. Next time we will have... probably a topic about FRIENDS and LIVING SINGLE. But don't quote me on that, I don't want to watch FRIENDS so I'm procrastinating. ALSO: I say "so" A LOT and you think I will stop? No.

FYI: I pronounce things weirdly... often. Auteur and mise-en-scene are pronounced in so many different ways and this is how I pronounce it. I tried my best, blame my mother for my accent with phonics. Thank you for listening, love y'all.

ALSO, an underrated podcast episode.
