The Chadds Ford Historical Society

Before it was Brandywine Prime, it was known simply as the Chadds Ford Inn.  The Great Pumkin Carve began as a small contest on the front porch.

Memories of the old Lenape Park amusement area, which later became the Brandywine Picnic Park.  It was washed away in the great flood of 2021, but hopefully can be reborn in some fashion, soon.

For 25 years, The Chadds Ford School was segregated from first to sixth grade.  Here are some of the painful memories from that time.

What is currently the Chadds Ford Elementary School actually went to tenth grade back in 1925.  Hear memories of the one-room schoolhouses it replaced and the experiences of some of the first students in the little brick school on the hill.

Chris Sanderson was a teacher, musician, collector, and advocate for preservation.  He was instrumental in starting the process to preserve the Brandywine Battlefield.  Sanderson's name came up in a remarkable number of memories in the Chadds Ford Historical Society's Oral History Project.
