Ep. 21 - Being Professional AND Interesting on LinkedIn w/ Christine Uri and Shaun Sethna

Ep. 21 - Being Professional AND Interesting on LinkedIn w/ Christine Uri and Shaun Sethna

On this week's episode, Tony sits down with Christine Uri and Shaun Sethna, two attorneys who produce engaging content on LinkedIn for their robust and supportive networks. As someone who tends to lean into personal content hard, Tony appreciates picking the brains of pros who gracefully walk the fine line between professional content and things that some might characterize as more fit for Facebook.

This episode gets into the guests' attitudes toward the platform and content creation, how they think about being on social media as members of a profession that generally doesn't engage much, and their tips for people considering getting more active on LinkedIn.

----------------

Speaking of lawyers, we've launched The Linked Lawyer Community as of this week. It's for lawyers who would like to build a presence on LinkedIn and consists of a private LinkedIn group, access to coaching from Tony, and bi-weekly Zoom sessions on topics related to content creation and branding. This week only, we're offering a free 10-day trial with this link.  You can also learn more at www.contenderllc.com.

Ep. 20 - How To Land That Next Role via LinkedIn w/ Brianna Doe and Julie Raeder

Ep. 20 - How To Land That Next Role via LinkedIn w/ Brianna Doe and Julie Raeder

This week's conversation dives into a topic that's often painful—job hunting. How to think differently about landing that next role (and get better results with less aggravation) is a topic Brianna Doe and Julie Raeder know a bit about. Brianna is a marketing pro and entrepreneur who founded The Career Lab and Soul Food Studio. Through The Career Lab, Brianna is supporting early- to mid-career professionals to build the career they want through a job board, resources, and coaching. Julie is a Customer Success Coach with Dooly, one of the strongest brands on LinkedIn, and she joined the company after using a relatively unique approach to LinkedIn to help transition from education to tech.

In this episode, we unpack their respective approaches to the job search and how they've leveraged content on LinkedIn to build their brands, land roles, and support others in doing the same.

This week, we also have a Hustle Corner segment featuring Dennis Geelen and The Author's Playbook. Dennis is a consultant, solopreneur, and author of four books. Most recently, Dennis published The Accidental Solopreneur, which I higher recommend.  It came out right around the time I released In The Creative Arena, and Dennis and I had the pleasure of doing an event together talking about our books. In this Hustle Corner, we get into how The Author's Playbook could help you finally turn that book idea into an actual book.

During this conversation, the gentlemen get into what motivated them to start creating content, how they remain consistent, and how to engage in a healthy way.

Ep. 18 - Leading on LinkedIn w/ Tania Bhattacharyya and Mitch Stein

Ep. 18 - Leading on LinkedIn w/ Tania Bhattacharyya and Mitch Stein

This week, Tony hangs out with a couple phenomenal humans he connected with through the little-known “Nonprofit Corner” of LinkedIn. Tania is a marketing consultant and former Executive Director who hosts the Campfire Circle podcast. After a career in nonprofits, she’s helping leaders in the social impact sector get heard. After working on Wall Street, Mitch Stein was the CEO of Pond, a startup that sought to become the Airbnb for nonprofit orgs and vendors. He talks about the difficult decision to shut the company down last month and what’s coming next. We get into how leaders can better leverage LinkedIn, why some industries are reluctant adopters, and how to handle trolls.

Ep. 17 - The Wildest Content on LinkedIn w/ Paul Watkins and Tyler Schmoker

Ep. 17 - The Wildest Content on LinkedIn w/ Paul Watkins and Tyler Schmoker

Tony has never climbed a mountain more intense than hiking up a very large large hill, but he's had a fascination with extreme outdoor endeavors for the last decade and has aspirations of taking  on meatier challenges in wild places. That's probably why he's such a sucker for wild content on LinkedIn, and Paul Watkins  and Tyler Schmoker are two men who post some of the wildest. A former pharmacist from Australia and an American security industry pro, respectively, they share a brand of personal development built on undertaking serious challenges in intense locations. From climbing some of the world's largest mountains to taking part in 100-mile-plus winter ultramarathons, these men push themselves to their limits and then share the lessons they've learned on LinkedIn.

In this conversation, the gents get into some of their adventures, their approach to content creation, and the natural tension between a lifestyle that emphasizes disconnecting from day-to-day tech usage and posting consistently on social media.

You can find Paul's book, Lost and Found, on Amazon and the audio version on Audible. I highly recommend the audiobook.

Tony's book, In The Creative Arena, is also available, but features exponentially fewer stories involving a man taking a shot of whiskey with a preserved human toe in the glass.

Ep. 16 - Big Career Pivots Documented on LinkedIn w/ Bryan Sagray and Tiffany Jones

This week, Tony hangs out with fellow lawyer Tiffany Jones and surgeon-turned-entrepreneur Bryan Sagray All three of these people have left their chosen professions in the last couple years to go a different direction, and naturally their paths have intersected on LinkedIn. They get into what led to their respective career leaps, how they came to discover the potential for LinkedIn, how they think about content creation (targeted vs general, personal vs educational), and how they're thinking about their next steps in life.

Tony's book, In The Creative Arena, is available on Amazon

Ep. 15 - The Return of Sam Browne and 2022 In Review

For the first episode of 2023, Tony welcomes Sam Browne back to the show for a laid-back chat. The gentlemen reminisce about when they first connected on LinkedIn a year ago, how they think about their first year of content creation, and what they're focusing on coming into the new year (spoiler alert—going to be a lot of video coming from these guys this year).

Also, it's Sam's birthday this week, so be sure to wish the old boy a happy 40-somethingth birthday.

Ep. 14 - Ask Me Anything w/ Tony Albrecht!

Ep. 14 - Ask Me Anything w/ Tony Albrecht!

They say a podcaster doesn't get his wings until he's done an Ask Me Anything episode. Tony recorded an AMA and is now flying high. Over the course of this marathon session, he fields questions about his process, imposter syndrome, personal branding, ghostwriting, his beard, and other stuff. If you don't come away educated, inspired, and downright exhausted, we'll give you a full refund.

Thanks to every one of the lovely people who contributed to this episode by tossing a question out for me to take a crack at:

Ep. 13 - Why Are Lawyers Afraid to 'Like' on LinkedIn? w/ Brittany Leonard and Chad Aboud

Ep. 13 - Why Are Lawyers Afraid to 'Like' on LinkedIn? w/ Brittany Leonard and Chad Aboud

Finally, Tony gets together with a couple other lawyers to have a chat about their career-shifting experiences on LinkedIn...and why so many colleagues in the legal profession are afraid to even hit LIKE on a LinkedIn post. Brittany Leonard and Chad Aboud are both attorneys who spent time in law firm settings before opting for in-house roles. This conversation dives into how the three lawyers found themselves creating content on LinkedIn, what it's going to take to get more lawyers following suit, the benefits of contributing on LinkedIn, and tips for people interested in beginning to create content.

Ep. 11 - The Roller Coaster of LinkedIn Solopreneurship w/ Eva Rose Daniel and Nausheen Chen

This week's episode feels like a Friday night amongst friends because that's pretty much what it was. Tony welcomes Eva Rose Daniel and Nausheen Chen to LinkyLand HQ to discuss what compels a person to start a business based in large part on LinkedIn. Eva, who is based out of Tennessee and previously wrote speeches for Dave Ramsey, founded The Speak Shop, and Nausheen, who is based in Hong Kong, started Speak as a Leader.

Ep. 10 - LinkedIn Down Under w/ Rosie Chong and Tasleem Ahmad Fateh

Ep. 10 - LinkedIn Down Under w/ Rosie Chong and Tasleem Ahmad Fateh

As an American living in Canada, Tony has a distinctly North American lens to his experience on LinkedIn. In this episode, he’s talking to 2 Australian creators who are absolutely killing it with content. Rosie Chong is a social media manager, podcaster (It's a Definite Maybe), and speaker who has gained more than 30k followers well before the age of 30. Tasleem Ahmad Fateh, LinkedIn’s Robin Hood, is one of the platform’s rising stars, amassing more than 45k in less than a year as a creator. He also just released The (free!) Robin Hood Course, and early returns are saying it's well worth the price of admission.
Also Tony hosts Christopher Sellers in the LinkyLand Hustle Corner, this pod's unusual approach to ad content. Instead of your typical ad read, Hustle Corner features an entrepreneur spending 5 minutes with Tony, getting into what they care about, who they help, and how. In this first installment, Tony and Chris get into the Australian author's new book, Applied Creativity. It's worth noting that Chris spent $0 for this pleasure, as Tony wanted to give the new author a gift, and this was all he had to offer. If you're interested in being featured in Hustle Corner, dm Tony.

Ep. 9 - LinkedIn Past, Present, & Future w/ Doug Lawson and Nick Raeburn

Ep. 9 - LinkedIn Past, Present, & Future w/ Doug Lawson and Nick Raeburn

Remember when LinkedIn was just like being at a conference? So do we. In this episode, Tony talks to veteran marketers Doug Lawson and Nick Raeburn about whether that was always the case and, if not, what changed and when. They also get into the power of LinkedIn, the rise of video, and where the platform is headed in the future. Nick runs an agency called Story Scale and is a member of the LinkedIn Creator Accelerator Program in the UK, while Doug runs the appropriately monikered Doug Lawson Marketing.
Tony Albrecht runs CONTENDER, an agency helping law firms develop and execute LinkedIn strategies that are shockingly easy and delightfully effective.

Ep. 8 - Talking Men's Mental Health on LinkedIn w/ Jaleel Mackey and Tim Perreira

Ep. 8 - Talking Men's Mental Health on LinkedIn w/ Jaleel Mackey and Tim Perreira

A lot of topics get avoided on LinkedIn, a professional networking site that's historically limited itself to press releases and job announcements. One taboo topic that's starting to gain ground on the platform, though, is men's mental health. And two of the men leading the way are Jaleel Mackey and Tim Perreira, a pair of California-based professionals who've spent much of their careers in tech sales. By sharing their truths and struggles with mental health (and addiction, in Jaleel's case), they're finding an audience that is not only receptive, but thirsting for this engagement. They're also both building wellness businesses around the learnings and practices that have helped transform their lives. Tim is the founder of PER Wellness, and Jaleel founded Breathe, Rise and Thrive.
In this episode, Jaleel and Tim join host Tony Albrecht to talk about their respective stories, the conventional understanding of masculinity, why they took to social media with their messages, and where they see this conversation going in the future.

Ep. 6 - The Art of LinkedIn Authenticity w/ Nick Bennett and Tara Horstmeyer

Tara Horstmeyer and Nick Bennett join Tony in LinkyLand to talk authenticity, the life-changing benefits of leaning into a personal brand, and how they think about leveraging the platform to drive business results.
Nick is the Director of Evangelism and Customer Marketing at Alyce. He also hosts the excellent Rep Your Brand podcast. With a network of 40,000 people, he has become a leading voice on LinkedIn showing how effective personal branding can drive revenue for companies.
With 25,000 followers, Tara is also no stranger to LinkedIn. She's the founder of Happy Words, a company providing executive trainings and ghostwriting for LinkedIn. She was previously with Gravy and started using LinkedIn while working there.
Tony has just started his own agency, using his background as a litigator to help attorneys leverage LinkedIn to grow their reputations and their practices. It’s called CONTENDER and provides LinkedIn strategy, branding, and ghostwriting support for law firms.
