You will be surprised at how she got started on her Board of Education path! She is very active in our community, serving all Spanish Fort schools along with Loxley Elementary and Silverhill Elementary.

Hello from The Fort! On today's show, we have Monica Shaner. She is a 7th grade Civics and Geography teacher. You will hear about a special event Spanish Fort Middle School has each year for our Veterans. Mrs. Shaner works tirelessly for this program each year to make it special for our guests. She does so many extra little things to honor our Veterans such as thank you cards from students, goody bags, and a wall of honor. On Veterans Day, and every day, we thank those who serve.

Red Ribbon Week
Hello from The Fort! Today's guest is our Red Ribbon Week Leader, Payton B. Red Ribbon Week is the nation's oldest and largest drug abuse prevention awareness program. Payton was chosen to represent Spanish Fort Middle School as the leader. Payton and the Peer Helpers organized activities to help educate our community about the destructive effects of drug use.
Students to Teachers
Hello from The Fort! You are going to love today's guests! Lexi Bexley and Erica Cockrell were in the first class of 6th grade students when Spanish Fort Middle School opened. They remained friends through high school and college, both graduating with Elementary Education degrees. They are now teaching math together in the same 6th grade classrooms where their friendship started! It's such a fun story!

Hello from The Fort! Today on the show we have Anna Hunt. Mrs. Hunt is one of our 6th grade Social Studies teachers. She is known for her crazy costumes that pull her students in with excitement for learning! You will hear about the Ellis Island simulation today. Each 6th grade student will go through the immigration process to get a better understanding of this part of history. Get your backstory and costume ready, Ellis Island awaits on October 15th!

We talk about what he looked forward to after his field trip to visit last year, what he was nervous about, and how he is adjusting to life at the middle school. School Enhancement Referendum
Hello from The Fort! In this episode we sit down with Spanish Fort Mayor, Mike McMillan. He visited our school to speak at our faculty meeting and was kind enough to stay and answer more questions from me. We hope this helps you be more informed about the 3-mil tax referendum to enhance all Spanish Fort feeder schools. The vote takes place on September 17th.
