Episode 72: Moving Forward and New Beginnings

Episode 72: Moving Forward and New Beginnings

Hello!

In this podcast, I explain the steps I have taken to help me move forward and to start creating a new beginning and life.

Life is ever-changing and that can be wonderful and unnerving at times!

Some changes that come to us we receive with open arms. They make us so happy we can lose our footing and feel out of sorts.

Some changes can take us literally to our knees with grief. They can create fear and make the world feel so heavy and unlivable.

If you are trying to regroup after something life-changing has happened, this podcast may just be what you need to hear.

I hope that my experience can help.

With love, Tracy

Episode 68: Listen To Your Gut, Hone Your Intuition

Listen To Your Gut, Hone Your Intuition

Are you listening?

We’re often told that we should trust our gut, but what does it actually mean, and more importantly, how is it done?

Join me for this broadcast to explore the meaning of intuition, the benefits of listening to and following our instinct, and techniques to tap into our ‘wordless guide’.

Trusting your gut is not as simple as the phrase implies. For some, it comes more naturally. However, for many of us, certain habits and circumstances pull us strongly and often unconsciously in the opposite direction and skew our interpretation.

During this broadcast, I will uncover what it means to listen to your gut,  what intuition is,how you can learn to strengthen and flex this underused "muscle",  and its impact on your overall health.

Listening to your gut can go a long way in improving short- and long-term physical and mental health.

So what are you waiting for? Listen in to get in tune with your gut!”

Episode 63: Finding Your Calm

Finding Your Calm

Tonight I will share a number of immediately implementable stress-relief strategies that are easy and fun.

You don't need to live a life filled with chronic stress. We actually aren't meant to live this way and the damage stress does to our minds and bodies can be significant.

Did you know that the stress hormone cortisol not only causes abdominal fat to accumulate, but it also enlarges individual fat cells?

Stress is known as the “the silent killer” because it can lead to heart disease, high blood pressure, chest pain, and an irregular heartbeat.

Stress can even alter blood sugar levels, which can cause mood swings, fatigue, hyperglycemia, and metabolic syndrome, a major risk factor for heart attack and diabetes.

I am motivated to help everyone looking to improve their health by reducing stress.

Join me tonight and learn health strategies to harness calmness in your life.

I promise, these strategies work.

Also, if you find that stress is controlling your life and you are stress eating, message me and let's set up a time to chat. I can help you.

Episode 62: Taking Care of Yourself Physically and Mentally After a Significant Loss

Episode 62: Taking Care of Yourself Physically and Mentally After a Significant Loss

Taking Care of Yourself Physically and Mentally After a Significant Loss

This broadcast is perfect for anyone who has and is experiencing a loss, or someone who has a friend or loved one experiencing loss.

Loss of a loved one, dear friend, pet, job, relationship, body function, and home are just a few examples of how we can feel loss and experience grief. The loss creates a hole in our lives, a gaping crevice in our hearts, instability, lower confidence, and even fear of the unknown. How will we ever make it through this?

Everyone will experience challenges associated with loss in their lifetime. Logically, we know this. There's no way to get away from it.  Yet when loss enters our lives, our minds and heart still "feel" the pain.

I've experienced loss many times in my life. Pets, family, relationships, career, a business, my health, and most recently - my husband. Each one creates a different feeling within me. Each loss is handled differently.

When I look back on all the losses prior to my husband passing away, I realize that I rebounded in ways that were not supportive of my well-being.

Tonight, I will talk about ways to support your mind and body during a period of loss and grief. Ways to help you find joy in what feels like darkness and emptiness. Way to help your body stay healthy and get even healthier.

I will be speaking from experience as well as interchanging between my Integrative Health Coach and Personal Training hats.

I hope you can join me!

Episode 61: Walking the Journey of Grief - Dave's Story

Episode 61: Walking the Journey of Grief - Dave's Story

I decided that tonight is the night I needed to come back and restart my live broadcast/podcast. Release all outcomes, utilize courage, open my heart and fully step back into the world. I have been absent for almost 7 months. May 17th was my last broadcast.

I have thought about how best to do this. I've thought about it over and over and over again. The only way I could do so authentically was to talk about what happened to my husband Dave. My hope is that through this broadcast, his passing and my telling his story, we can save lives. And I truly believe we can.

I am also hopeful that as I share my journey with grief, how I have coped, and how I have cared for myself will also help others that are walking their own path of grief.

Dave was (and still is) a joyous light. His spirit was and is that of love, unconditional love, gratitude, grace, service, you name it! A very kind soul! With his spirit in mind, I choose to broadcast this message in a way that will be uplifting and bring hope.

It's time to step into my new future.

Tough Love Tuesday!

How Implementing a Leadership Mindset will Positively Impact All Areas of Your Life

Welcome to the first Tough Love Tuesday of 2022! You DO NOT want to miss this one!

This week, my guest is Terry Fossum!

I asked Terry to join me for many reasons. But the main reason, Terry is an incredible example of how to truly “live” life! Terry is a leadership expert, movie producer, actor, author, keynote speaker, self-made millionaire, philanthropist, adventurer, scout leader, & survival show winner!

I’ll be asking him a lot of questions regarding the Leadership Mindset. The reason this will be the focus? Because this mindset impacts EVERY aspect of your life.

Yes, even your relationship with food.

Guaranteed, Terry will leave you with impactful steps that can help you create a leadership mindset, thus create a life that you are truly "living" and not just watching pass you by!

I cannot wait!

Welcome to the show, Terry!

Terry L. Fossum was born in Mission, Tx and grew up in McAllen, Tx, where he became an Eagle Scout. He attended McAllen High School and McAllen Memorial High School. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University where he was a Cadet Major in the Corps of Cadets.

After obtaining a commission as an officer in the United States Air Force, he became the Adjutant for the 325th Bombardment Squadron, and the Executive Officer for an entire group of Nuclear B-52 aircraft, the 92d Operations Group. He was named Officer of the Year at Fairchild Air Force Base, Humanitarian of the Year for Strategic Air Command, and Distinguished Graduate of Squadron Officers' School.

After receiving an Honorable Discharge as a Captain, he became a multi-million dollar earner in direct marketing, setting up and directing sales organizations around the globe.

After marrying into 3 teenage and preteen boys, he retired from business to focus on putting together "the most important thing in my life, my family."

During this time, he wrote and published several books, video and audio series, focusing on self-improvement 'while the boys were at school.'

He has had adventures literally around the globe including:

Solo trek deep into the Arctic Circle, befriended by the Inuits, invited on caribou hunt, eaten alive by literally millions of mosquitos. Not as much fun as it sounds. . Survival in the Amazon Jungle: Swam in piranhas-infested waters, pulled over 100 ticks off, ate bugs. Also not that much fun. . Canoe expedition deep into the Quetico. Also eaten by millions of mosquitos. Seems to be a recurring theme. . Rwanda: Climbed the mountains searching for elusive Silverback gorillas (& found them) . Solo treks into the far reaches of Death Valley (almost lived up to its name), Badlands of South Dakota (they're called that for a reason), Joshua tree, mountains/rivers of Montana, Idaho, Washington, several deserts in Utah, etc. with temperatures ranging from -20 to 100++ . Malawi, Africa: Foot, boat and vehicle safari in the Mvuu region, plus traveled to the far-outlying villages to check on philanthropic projects, teaching farming techniques (has saved countless lives) . Developed a completely off-grid log cabin on top of a mountain in the middle of absolutely nowhere, Montana . Won Kicking & Screaming Survival/Teamwork Reality Competition against special forces members, military survival instructors, a mercenary, 4th-degree black belt ninja, more . History Channel Casting Director's choice to host a new adventure show.

Episode 56: All About Mushrooms with Guest Jeff Chilton

Episode 56: All About Mushrooms with Guest Jeff Chilton

I really enjoyed speaking with my guest, Jeff Chilton! An expert on mushrooms and how important they our for our health!

Jeff was raised in the Pacific Northwest, studied ethno-mycology at the University of Washington in the late sixties and started working on a commercial mushroom farm in Olympia, Washington in 1973. During the next 10 years he became the production manager, responsible for the cultivation of over 2 million pounds of agaricus mushrooms per year and was also involved in the research and development of shiitake, oyster and enoki mushrooms which resulted in the earliest US fresh shiitake sales in 1978.

In the late seventies he was a founder of Mycomedia, which held 4 mushroom conferences in the Pacific Northwest. These educational conferences brought together educators and experts in mushroom identification, ethnomycology, and mushroom cultivation.

During this period Jeff co-authored the highly acclaimed book, The Mushroom Cultivator, which was published in 1983. In the 1980’s he operated a mushroom spawn business and in 1989 he started Nammex, a business that introduced medicinal mushrooms to the US nutritional supplement industry. He traveled extensively in China during the 1990’s, attending conferences and visiting research facilities and mushroom farms. In 1997 he organized the first organic mushroom production seminar in China.

Jeff’s company, Nammex was the first to offer a complete line of Certified Organic mushroom extracts to the US nutritional supplement industry. Nammex extracts are used by many supplement companies and are noted for their high quality based on scientific analysis of the active compounds.

Welcome to the broadcast, Jeff!

Tonight I'm going to be discussing several ways to take charge of your health. As you watch the broadcast, my suggestion is to go ahead and choose one option and commit to implementing it. Just pick one. Pick the one you know to be right for you at this time. If you know of something else you would rather implement, which I haven't discussed tonight, YES! Implement that! Again, you are the expert!

Episode 53: Embracing The Valley with Guest J Nadia Headley

Episode 53: Embracing The Valley with Guest J Nadia Headley

"Embracing the Valley" with Guest J Nadia Headley.

I am excited to have Nadia Headley join me once again on Tough Love Tuesday. This time, she is joining me as a soon to be published author! Her book, "Embracing the Valley" is a must read. I have been blessed to be an advanced reader and was able to glean much wisdom from its pages.  We can assume that living in the "Valley" means failure, that only reaching the mountain top and staying there means success. However, Nadia challenges us to see things a bit differently and to embrace those "valleys" as they are an important part of our lives and of who we are.

Nadia is deeply empathetic, kind to a fault, highly energetic and hopelessly optimistic. She has been through so many phases of life. There have been exhilarating highs and unimaginable lows. Somehow, she always manages to see the good in moments when the bad is overwhelming. Those small glimpses of hope empower her to withstand and fuel her to continue. It all boils down to the immense support she has been fortunate enough to receive from so many people. At the end of the day, it's about people. When she was graduating as a member of the President's Society, the highest honour society at St. John's University and when she was battling breast cancer; when she was traveling the world and when she lived in fear of a psychologically abusive ex; when she was enjoying the beauty of her family and when her family was at the food bank; when life was high or when life was low, the right people were always in place to help her enjoy the feast and endure the famine.

Hailing from the most easterly Caribbean island, Barbados she named her business Twenty One Fourteen Consultancy services to commemorate the dimensions of her island: 21 miles long by 14 miles wide. As a proud Caribbean woman of African descent, she has also lived in St. Vincent, USA and Canada, sharing her light and bubbly spirit everywhere she goes.

As a Social Development Specialist, having served as the youngest United Nations Coordination Officer in Latin America and the Caribbean, she is diplomatic, poised and operates with the highest level of professionalism. As the founder and trustee of Small Enterprises for Education and Development (SEED) she has seen the ins and outs of nonprofit start up and intimately understands the challenges faced on the impact level. She has added many transferable skills to this breadth of experience, making her service offering to clients surprisingly comprehensive with a one-stop-shop boutique of services for her highly focused niche. Nadia believes in creating space for others and employs a roster of consultants who support clients, providing them with meaningful work and opportunities to develop themselves personally and professionally.

Most of all, Nadia just loves to laugh and is determined to pass a better world on to her daughter. Nadia’s big audacious dream is to build an environmentally and economically self sustained parallel school system in the Caribbean. Until then, she continues to focus on youth development and education in the Caribbean and on a global movement to encourage more visionary women to tell their stories to unleash their own power.

Episode 52: A Closer Look at Sugar

Episode 52: A Closer Look at Sugar

This is one of the most IMPORTANT Tough Love Tuesdays I’ve hosted yet!

THE CASE AGAINST SUGAR!

There are MANY misconceptions about sugar in the health industry today.

Some include:

All sugar is bad

Sugar-free means healthier

You need to intake sugar for energy

Sugar is easy to spot

Sugar is only in sweet foods

All sugars are created equally

These, among others, are false.

The reality is sugar is harmful to our bodies. There are safer alternatives, and it may take a little investigative work to truly recognize the amount of sugar in your diet.

Join me for Tough Love Tuesday to learn how to recognize different kinds of sugar, how they affect your body, and why this has become such a public health problem.

Episode 51: Rewriting Your Story - Reframe Your Narrative and Transform Your Life

REWRITING YOUR STORY - REFRAME YOUR NARRATIVE AND TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE

You're the lead character in the story of your life, you're also the narrator.

Your script is made up of many different parts that change over time, and the meaning of your experience can vary depending on your perception.

Tonight, I will be discussing how you can gain perspective about your own perspective, and how the stories that you tell yourself shape your reality. These stories have the ability to empower us or disempower us. Our narratives can be different dependent on the part of our lives we may be thinking of. In some areas, our narratives are strong and powerful setting us on a path of success. In others, they can be the opposite.

Luckily, narrating our story is something we do every day - and with that, we can make a choice as to how the narrative will impact us.

Tonight I will give you valuable techniques that you can begin applying right away to create life-changing narratives!

Episode 50: Know Your Worth

Episode 50: Know Your Worth

KNOW YOUR WORTH

"Know Your Worth. You must find the courage to leave the table if respect is no longer being served." - Tene Edwards

I stumbled upon this quote the other day while scrolling through my LinkedIn stream. It jumped out at my as if to say, "You need to do a broadcast about me!!!" So I saved the image to help me remember.

This quote speaks to me in many ways. I believe it's intent is to speak of respect in relationships with other people. I also see where it can speak to your own relationship with yourself and with your food.

In my and Ingrid Lauw's book, Your Personal Journey with Food, we dedicate several chapters to just this concept.

Tonight I will discuss how impactful it is when we no longer serve self-worth and respect to ourselves.

I'll also bring you some golden nuggets from the book Your Personal Journey with Food to help you step into your courage, "leave the table you are at" and design a new "table setting" that supports you, your relationships, and your body.

Episode 49: Breaking Up with Self-Sabotage

Episode 49: Breaking Up with Self-Sabotage

Breaking Up with Self Sabotage

Stop Self-Sabotaging!

Do you have a talent for self-sabotage that you might not even be aware of?

Do you tend to focus on the negative?

Do you spend a lot of time worrying about the future, and what could go wrong?

Do you ever feel like all these thoughts might be holding you back from reaching your full potential?

Many of us can relate to these actions, and whether we recognize it or not, it’s likely that we act and think this way because we’re partaking in self-sabotaging behaviors.

Behavior is said to be self-sabotaging when it creates problems and interferes with our long-standing goals. When we give in and engage in negative thoughts and actions, we create problems in our relationships, at our place of work, and within ourselves.

Perhaps you’ve been telling yourself for years that your lack of “luck” in romance, career, or other life choices are due to your own unworthiness, lack of ability, or something else. I’m here to remind you that your mind is a powerful place, and it can work very hard to keep you from growing and progressing in the ways that you want to...if you let it.

My goal is to show you that it is possible to overcome self-sabotaging behaviors and give you the tools you need to get started in making a positive change in your life. Get out of your own way, get rid of counterproductive behavior, and learn how to make friends with your own worst enemy - you.

Episode 42: The Benefits of Becoming a "Locavore!"

The Benefits of Becoming a "Locavore!"

Most people don’t put much thought into how their food is grown, treated, and delivered to their local market. This makes sense because many of us are able to walk into any major grocery store and find pretty much anything we want, any time of year!

Unfortunately, when we create a demand for food that’s out of season in our area, quality is often compromised.

If you’re ready to stop paying for subpar produce and tap into a diet that nature intended, don’t miss this broadcast.

Learn how just by sticking to nature's natural harvest schedule, you can have many benefits to not only your body, your wallet, (as well as the environment.)

By the time I wrap up the broadcast, you will be more knowledgeable in your understanding of why eating local (being a "locavore") and in-season is so beneficial for your health, and feel more confident picking out season items at the grocery store.

Check Your Habits - Learn How To Make Strategic Changes That Improve Your Life

Want to learn some strategies about how to break bad, unsupporting habits and replace them with positive, more productive ones.

During today’s Tough Love Tuesday I will explain the psychology behind how habits form and discuss how to rewire the brain for the better.

Our daily habits form our daily routines, which make up the components of our day.

What would your day be like if you had a healthy meal for lunch at the office?

How would you feel if you were a little more active throughout the day?

What would your mental state be like if you could take back control over negative thoughts and replace them with supportive ones.

Willpower and discipline are like a muscle, they can be exercised and practiced and built up - they can also be forgotten.

By knowing the ins and outs about how your own brain works when it comes to forming habits and breaking them, you’ll have the tools to hack into your own mind and rewire it for the better!

Let's all build some new routines that benefit our minds and bodies!

Episode 36: Letting Go of Fear

Letting Go of Fear, Your Personal Journey with Food & Tough Love Tuesday

Are anxiety and fear holding you back from reaching your true potential?

There are so many people suffering from anxiety-related issues today that it becomes easy to ignore how damaging they can be. Imagine what you could achieve without the fear of failure, fear of not being enough, or fear of not meeting others expectations?

Tonight I will be discussing strategies and tips for overcoming fears and confronting anxieties head-on.

During my broadcast, I'll explain the different ways that anxieties can present themselves and discuss ways that they could be negatively affecting your mind and body.

Anxiety is based around the assumption that all irrational and unmanageable instances of FEAR are real. The perceived threats of unprocessed fear and overwhelming urge to retreat entirely from any potential dangers is an unfortunate reality for many people. I have been there and I still have some work to do too!

Achieving goals and aspirations become possible as soon as you let go of the fears surrounding them.

Episode 35: Activate Your Very Own "Fire Within" with Guest Charles Ellis

Episode 35: Activate Your Very Own "Fire Within" with Guest Charles Ellis

With so much external messaging coming at us every day, we can lose sight of who we really are. I write about this in my book, and my guest, Charles Ellis does as well in his book "The Fire Within: Transform Your Life." Charles L Ellis is Owner/Founder of The Fire Within Group. He is an Author, Speaker, Certified Life Coach, Advisor, Poet, and Humanitarian.

Tonight we will be talking about your very own "Fire Within" and how you can and why you need to activate it by modifying your thought process, eliminate old limiting paradigms, and create new positive and supportive beliefs.

An Excerpt From Charles' book: “In life there is so much conditioning from the world that a person doesn’t usually know what to believe, what’s real, or even how to go about being their true and authentic self. We may not even know that there is an authentic self, thus believing our thoughts, the labels given us, our careers, our social status, or even what others tell us to be, as being who we really are. Nothing could be further from the truth…”

As author of The Fire Within motivational/Inspirational books and creator\founder of The Fire Within Group, Charles loves helping those with non-traditional work histories and backgrounds, and anyone who has a hard time believing that they have the ability to create their ideal lives. He uses online courses, life coaching, self-help books, and whatever it takes to get his clients to believe in themselves. His goal is to motivate and inspire the individual to transform their lives and change old paradigms that are not conducive to their best interests. He likewise wants his clients to become the best versions of themselves.
