The Lost Shawangunk Silver Mine is found at the upper part of Sullivan County in the Catskill Mountains between Lake Mongaup and Hodge Pond. Almost a mile east of Shokan Village in County 28, Ulster County, a bootleger from New York is reported to have hidden two and a half million dollars worth of paper currency in several iron boxes during the Prohibition days, somewhere on a deserted farm at the upper part of Ashokan Reservoir. He was caught, but the FBI and other law enforcement agencies failed to find his loot. Also located someplace in this area is the Lost Truman Hurd Gold Mine. Another cache of valuables known as the Tongorara Treasure is presumed to be hidden between Kingston City at U.S. 87 and the lower edge of this reservoir. It consists of gold and silver coins valued at over one million dollars. Accord's tiny village at State 209, Ulster County, is where Rufe Evans, a miner, buried a hoard of silver ore and bullion somewhere within or nearby the hamlet. At the time of the Revolution, a band of Tory raiders stashed a sizeable amount of plunder outside Summitville, State 209, Sullivan County, in a cave somewhere in the Shawangunk Mountains. Tracy Maxwell, a farmer who died in 1948 and lived two miles west of Surprise on County 81, Greene County, stated in his will that he hid paper currency and a stockpile of family jewelry worth around $135,000 somewhere in or around his barn. His family had spent more than $20,000 trying to find his treasure, but they have been unsuccessful. Eighteenth-century river pirates are believed to have buried many caches of treasure within and around the vicinity of West Point Military Academy during the Revolution. The Tories, who were forced to flee Peeksill for their lives during the Revolution, buried numerous treasures somewhere in the region. Researching where the Tories lived by examining old property records might reveal where they hid their valued possessions. The Hudson River's narrowest place is a spot called Kidd's Point. It is alleged that the renowned criminal buried a hoard of treasure in this area, making it famous as an expedition site frequented by treasure hunters over the years. A few miles south of Peekskill, located on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River at Stony Point, is a cave where another cache of pirate treasure is allegedly hidden. A place called Money Hill, located a few miles south of Croton-on-the-Hudson, is said to be the spot where a great treasure whose origin is unknown is rumored to have been buried. Some caches holding silver and gold coins amounting to $750,000 were hidden in Hicksville, County 135, on Long Island by an affluent misanthrope somewhere on his estate. A bulldozer operator discovered one of the caches holding $89,000 of old coins in 1960. A pirate named Joe Brandish is believed to have hidden some treasure chests on the northeastern tip of Long Island on Orient Point, sometime in the late eighteenth century. Gardiner's Island, located in Block Island Sound, is the most famous place where Captain William Kidd buried his treasure and the most likely to be so indeed. It is a fact that he and other pirates used the island as their headquarters. Kidd stayed there immediately after seizing a valuable prize at sea, just before his capture and execution by hanging. Kidd Valley, a site on this island, has rocks imprinted with many symbols some have taken to be clues that, if deciphered and understood, would reveal the exact location of Kidd's treasure. Fisher's Island, situated close north of Gardiner's Island, is reputed to have been often used by pirates. It is believed that some have hidden their treasures here. The coins and other precious trinkets found on the island are thought to have washed aground from shipwrecks. Treasure Hunting New York-Erie Canal Treasure Island Ticonderoga Thousand Islands Blenheim Mountain

The Erie Canal, which flows between Buffalo and Albany for 363 miles, was completed in 1825 to connect New York City and the Hudson Valley with the Great Lakes. Remnants of the canal, including its toll stations, maintenance buildings, and locks, still exist today, which still yield precious artifacts and, on occasion, some old coins. Isle Royal, an island off the port of Waddington, Lawrence County, situated on the St. Lawrence River County, is where a French commander buried a treasure before surrendering the fort to the British in 1760. The treasure's value is estimated to range between $10,000 to $100,000. Many silver mines in the eighteenth century were once located along Mouat Utsayantha, Schoharie County's region. The Lost Blenheim Silver Mine is found on the northern side of this mountain. The Patriots sealed it off to deter the British from accessing and profiting from it. A landslide occurred soon afterward, concealing it permanently. Silver Creek is situated by Lake Erie, just around eight miles northeast of Dunkirk (County 59). The creek owes its name to the fact that a substantial number of silver coins washed along its beach after intense storms. It is presumed the coins came from the steamer Atlantic, which carried over $60,000 and sunk in the area in 1852. Some wreckage is also visible on Lake Erie's beach, about four miles northeast of Barcelona, County 60, Chautauqua County. If unconfirmed reports are believed, gold and silver coins have been discovered in this same area. The steamer City of Detroit, which was carrying more than $200,000 in gold and silver coins, as well as a substantive cargo of copper ingots, sank here in 1873. Storms and strong currents have washed some of the steamer's remains and cargo ashore. Dean Richard, a steamer ship, sank near Jerusalem Cors' shore on Lake Erie, around ten miles south of Buffalo. A storm destroyed the ship and cast ashore its remains and cargo, which included $191,000 in gold and silver coins, burying them in the beach's sands. Grand Island is located in the middle of the Niagara River between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. It is said to be the site where an affluent French merchant named Clairieux had some kegs containing eighteenth-century coins buried close to his house and store. The site is also home to several ruins of colonial buildings. A cache of gold and silver coins dating from the sixteenth century was found close to a round stone building's ruins in 1888. It is believed that some French raiders buried around fifteen treasure chests in secret locations on this island during the French and Indian wars. On the Lake Erie shore, east of Port Colborne by about half a mile, in County 58 in Ontario, Canada, considerable amounts of American gold coins have been found, including remains of a wrecked steamship. It is presumed that they are of the Anthony Wayne, a steamer that sank here in 1850 and carried more than $100,000 in gold and silver coins. This site can be reached by heading ten miles due west of Buffalo. The last of these miners perished in the year 1963, never having disclosed where this secret cache was located. It had become an accepted fact since this discovery that the 700 bars they found were only one small portion of a much larger hoard that was in the process of being shipped to Mexico around 1648, by Jesuits who had come under attack by natives and forced to hide their treasure. It is believed that somewhere in the same area as the cache is buried treasure amounting to 4,000 to 5,000 bars of silver, as well as 2,000 bars of gold. A single Jesuit priest was the sole survivor of this attack. This priest attempted to relocate the hidden treasure a year later, but failed to find it again. This native took some bars to purchase supplies from a trading post nearby, and was never seen again. Before he disappeared, he did tell the people in the trading post where he found it, but was only able to give them approximate directions to this cave. The Blackgown’s Treasure is reported to be “slightly to the west of Tubac '', specifically in the “third little mountain” somewhere due southwest of Tubac Presidio. This means that it is in Santa Cruz County, likely some 10 to 15 miles due north of Arivaca, in the Sierrita Mountains. The Blackgown’s Treasure is said to be made up of gold bars, nuggets, dust, chalices, and statues hidden by Spanish missionaries in the 1700s. Some time ago, a hunter hailing from Tucson went searching for the Blackgown’s Treasure, and decided to look into an abandoned mining shack near to the suspected location. There, he found two large tin cans, which were filled with gold nuggets that were worth more than $20,000. The Guadalupe Treasure is one of the most well-known hidden treasures in Arizona. Legend has it that the Guadalupe Treasure is the hiding place of more than 200 mules’ worth of gold nuggets and solid bars, as well as 2,000 mules’ worth of silver ore. This caravan belonged to Jesuits who were forced from the Spanish New World colonies during the Jesuit expulsion of 1767. This extensive mule train was a large target for bandits, especially Native American raiders, who would band together to intercept it as the Jesuits were around 4 miles to the southwest of Tumacacori Mission. According to the legend, all of the treasure carried by the mule train was deposited in a nearby abandoned mine, before they fled to Mexico. Although it has sparked a lot of interest, the legitimacy of this story is thro

Arizona - Fort Verde is an almost forgotten military fortification east of the town of Cape Verde in Yavapai County. Fort Verde’s heyday was in the 1870s, when it was used as a primary base for cavalry units under General George Cook. Despite its age, many of its stone structures still stand today. Montezuma’s Castle can also be found in Yavapai County, near the town of Rimrock just off I-17. Montezuma’s Castle is one of the most intact relics of the past from Native American civilization in the Southwest USA. Its defining features are the prominent houses carved into the sheer cliff during the 13th century. This site is also surrounded by a number of other places of archeological interest. Canyon de Chelly, near Chinle, Apache County, comprises hundreds of dwellings similar to those that could be found at Montezuma’s Castle. These dwellings were carved at the base of steep red sandstone cliffs, and are said to have been built by the Pueblo Indians between the 8th and 14th centuries AD. In the 1700s, a community of Navajos conquered and settled the dwellings. These Navajos would harass colonizers for much of the next few centuries. A particularly bloody example occurred in 1805, when a troop of Spanish soldiers engaged a band of Navajos who ambushed them at a place called Massacre Cave. Another engagement was recorded in 1864, when a man named Kit Carson routed a large force of Navajos in the Canyon. Other ruins built by the Pueblo Indians lie nearby, at places named Canyon del Muerte, Monument Canyon, and Black Rock. Casa Grande Monument is located around two miles to the north of the town of Coolidge in Pinal County, near State Route 87. The Casa Grande is a spectacular tower made up of packed walls stacked four stories high. It is believed to have been constructed by the Hohokam people for ceremonial purposes. The Hohokam first arrived in the area around 400 BC and would leave in the middle of the 15th century. The monument stands in the middle of nearly 90 mud buildings. Tonto National Monument can be found approximately 28 miles off SR 88, due northwest of the town of Globe in Gila County. This landmark is also dominated by cliff dwellings. Over 100 of these homes were carved out of the cliff by the Salado Indians during the 14th century, and would be abandoned roughly a century later. The Salados were proficient at mining gold and silver in the area, and thus many artifacts made from these precious metals have been found here. The Mission of San Xavier del Bac stands about 9 miles south of Tucson, just by Mission Road. First built by Jesuit missionaries in 1692 amidst a village of Pima natives, it would fall under siege when the natives revolted in 1751. It was said to house a considerable collection of treasure, which the missionaries were said to have successfully hidden before they were all massacred. San Xavier del Bac was burnt to the ground, but was rebuilt in 1767 by a group of Franciscan missionaries, and still stands. The Tubac Presidio Ruins lie 45 miles to the south of Tucson in Santa Cruz County. Tubac Presidio was a military outpost made up of over 50 brick fortifications, built by the Spanish in the 1750s, and abandoned in 1776. Some time after this, Mexican forces would occupy and rebuild the post in order to protect their miners, who had found plentiful deposits of silver in the area. In the early 1850s, Mormons who were traveling to California used the outpost as a stopover shelter. In 1856, a group of Texan miners used it as a base of operations.. The Fort Yuma Ruins are the remains of an old fortified town built on the banks of the Colorado River, near the modern town of Yuma in Yuma County. Fort Yuma began as a Spanish mission in 1700, until its destruction at the hands of belligerent natives. The catalyst for what would ultimately become Fort Yuma was the beginning of the Gold Rush in California. In 1850, the fortified town was built and became a crucial focal point, and later it became a

Treasure Hunting in Arizona - Lost Dutchman Gold Mine

Treasure Hunting in Arizona - Lost Dutchman Gold Mine

Lets start big, and lets talk about Arizona’s most prolific treasure story, and that is The Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine Treasure East of Phoenix, Arizona, up in the precipitous Superstition Mountains, lies a hidden treasure responsible for ruining the lives of more than a few of its seekers, at least according to legend. This treasure is named the Lost Dutchman Mine, and the legends surrounding it are as vast as they are inconsistent. One of the most well-documented accounts can be found in The Curse of the Dutchman’s Gold, written by Helen Corbin. It pertains to a man named Jacob Waltz, a native of Wurttemberg, Germany, who moved to the US in 1846. He became a naturalized citizen in July 1861, and thereafter became a prospector. Between 1872 and 1878, Waltz, along with his colleague Jacob Weisner, was said to have found gold in a quartz vein that was around 18 inches wide. They then proceeded to mine some ore, which they cached nearby. Work continued on the mine for some time, until Weisner’s untimely death at the hands of a band of Apaches. Distraught, Waltz decided to leave the mine behind. He took enough ore to sustain himself, concealed the mine’s entrance, and never looked back. He also never bothered to file a claim for the mine. Waltz moved to Phoenix, and set up a farm by the Salt River. Waltz then transitioned to a life of farmsteading from prospecting. One of his customers was a woman named Julia Thomas, a baker whom he delivered eggs to. In 1891, Waltz found out that Julia was in debt. With her bakery on the line, Waltz took pity on her and offered to help her pay off the debt. He then showed her some of his gold ore valued at $1,500, much to Julia’s bewilderment. In her time knowing him, she only thought of him as a farmer of modest means. Waltz then told her that he had experience in trading gold from Casa Grande, and that he would ship that ore to a smelter in San Francisco. He expressed that he had a lot of familiarity with how gold trades are done, and promised to lend her most of the returns from this one. He then proceeded to tell her about the cache, and the mine. He professed that he deliberately gave up the rights to it, recounting his grief due to the loss of his partner decades prior. Waltz admitted to Julia that his sorrow was such that he never wanted to work there again. And even if he wanted to, he continued, he was too old for prospecting. Nevertheless, Waltz promised that he would take Julia to the mine, and pass over ownership to her once she’s seen it for herself, asking only for a small share of the wealth. He and Julia planned to go to the Superstitions in the spring of the following year, along with Julia’s adoptive son Rhinehart Petrasch, to take the remaining gold in Waltz’s cache. However, things would take an unfortunate turn when Waltz’s house was flooded that summer. The Salt River is by and large a relatively dry river, but that summer’s torrential rains had swelled it with excessive runoff. Waltz would catch pneumonia from this flood, and die of it on October 25, 1891, a scant few months before their planned trip. Just before he died, he supposedly told Julia and Rhinehart that there was a portion of gold ore he set aside for himself under his fireplace. He was also reported to have drawn them a rough map that revealed the location of the mine. But Julia and Rhinehart would unfortunately be robbed of Waltz’ final gift, and even more distressful was the fact that they would never manage to find the mine. As sparse in details as this story is, it was enough for thousands of treasure hunters to trek the Superstitions in search of the Lost Dutchman Mine. Several of these seekers would lose their lives, with some even meeting unexplainable or grisly fates. Only a few individuals were able to rein in their hunger for Waltz’ treasure trove and come home with something of at least some substance. One such individual was a man named Bob Corbin. In 1957, Corbin started to look for the legenda

More information from previous video regarding smarinos and londoner islands which are a site of substantial treasure buried by the pirate blackbeard what happened to the fabulous blackbeard's treasure there are a couple of incidents that prove that blackbeard indeed buried treasure at the isles of shawls in 1820. captain samuel haley of smut nose island uncovered five bars of silver on the shore and after selling those for three thousand dollars he built a breakwater across the malaga island the second incident took place during the second world war when several of the government officials went ashore on londoner island and they have made some very interesting discoveries they have found definite indications that there was substantial amount of silver still buried on that landing side of the beach facing star island hotel the exact location is about halfway across the half moon stretch of the beach we've been told that blackbeard and his loot that he buried the the silver bars on that island and his crew also buried some silver bars uh in considerable quantity of uh and in addition to that he buried large quantities and his crew of pieces of silver on smarinos island captain haley found silver bars on smarty's island but he never found the pieces of it so the remainder of the treasure according to them is just below the water line on the beach east of the breakwater at smarinos we were told that uh the silver bars were uh probably worth thousands of dollars but are so far down in the sand that it would be a very costly experiment to locate them and to bring them to the surface according to the government officials and according to the previous owner who was actually conveying that information as well he said that he's been within a few feet of the silver bars or the silver location saying both my father and i agreed that there is no doubt that the treasure is still buried down in ascend between the high and low water marks and yes we will share 50 50 with any ambitious person who cares to search for it after they have the permission in writing to land on the island descent unfortunately shifts so rapidly out here that after every storm you think you might know where to look one week but the next week everything would be changed but the silver doesn't move much as it is too heavy and it's there waiting for someone with resources and the feeling for adventure to go after he said the government gave up searching saying that it would take several thousand dollars for treasures and palms and that it was in writing signed by prudence rendall did blackbeard himself leave any clues as to where his treasure was buried it is said that on the eve of his last battle that he lost one of the teachers henchmen questioned him about it and the pirate's reply was typical to him he said nobody but the devil and myself know where my treasure is and the longer liver of the two shall have it all after blackbeard's head was brought into the town of bath after his death it was obtained by one of the influential men in the town who had its skull lined with silver inside and out after which the bolder members of the family would challenge each other to drink toasts from it later it became the property of one of the members of the college fraternity who had it reserved and initiations were instituted whereby any person who wished to qualify for the fraternity would have to drink a pint of wine from blackbird's skull when the fraternity dissolved about the time of the american revolution this one of a kind drinking cup was reclaimed by its owner who then bought a tavern on the patomak river at his death his son continued the tavern and exhibited the silver skull from time to time john bernard a writer about his travels wrote in 1886 in his retrospections of america in which he quoted we spend our time in fishing's excursions to the patiomac frequently dining at the tavern on its banks here a drinking vessel supposed to give extra punch!

Let's talk about another crew on the ship called Porpoise, so the crew sailed away in the Porpoise leaving behind sandy and martha one day after they sailed away they spotted a fleet of four ships offshore they were pirate vessels when the pirate came ashore to the island for water sandy talked to them and was invited aboard the flagship to talk to the commander of the fleet here he met a joined forces he met and joined the forces with the men already in famous as the terror of the sea a six foot six-inch giant sporting two-foot beard with pistols and cutlass tucked in to his wide waist belt just to go back a little bit so sandy and his wife young my wife martha they were basically living on this island without anybody around for a long time and basically were rescued by the ship by blackbeard who was that six foot six in giant and they struck an agreement ed teach alas blackbeard apparently got a kick out of sandy's plight of being marooned by the purpose crew so he allowed sandy to join him sailing the atlantic the pirate fleet captured a french brick and spanish galleon containing of a million dollars in gold and silver on its way to the king of spain the french brick was renamed the flying scot by blackbeard and given to sandy gordon to command as a reward for his bravado in a fight with the french and spaniards the pirate vessels were now so filled with treasure that blackbeard decided to head for the nearest landfall to rid of themselves of some of it the nearest landfall a port where pirates were welcomed was new hampshire's isles of shoals as with philip bob the story of blackbeard and sandy gordon at the isles have been mixed with the legend over the last 270 years it is said that there was a great ceremony and celebration at star island when sandy gordon officially married martha herring that same day blackbeard married a girl he had aboard his 40 gunship queen anne's revenge now blackbeard never took marriage seriously however for during his lifetime he had 14 wives and never went to sea without bevy of concubines when he was killed in 1718 40 children claimed him as their father sandy and martha did take their marriage vows seriously and settled at white island one of the isles but the honeymoon was brief the english navy had been searching uh the atlantic for the purpose mutineers for over a year a man of war came to the isle shortly after sandy and martha set up housekeeping on white island blackbeard after staying at star island for over a month wisely set sail and left the isles but gordon in the flying scot went out to battle the naval warship two well-directed broadsides and the flying scot sank like a rock with sandy gordon in his favorite bright red uniform going down with her supposedly only two of the pirate crew survived the sinking and they were picked up by the men of war crew and hanged at the yard arm that very day the only member of the pirate band left at the isles was martha herring gordon who died there in 1735. celia attacks the right teachers comrade captain scott gordon wrote this lovely lady hitler they buried immense treasure on the islands that of scott gordon was buried on an island apart from the rest the maiden was carried to the island where her pirate lover's treasure was hidden and made to swear with horrible rights that until his return if it were not till the day of judgment she would guard it from search of all mortals so there she faces steel still she laments like a banshee before the tempest wailing through the gorgeous apple door blackbeard and his men forced to quickly depart the isles and never return buried the treasure on smiley nose and london their islands wrote one isles historian londoner isle island is now called lounging island blackfield's blackbeard's treasure is buried at the landing side of the beach facing the star island hotel halfway across the halfmoon stretch of the beach writes another historian a third says blackbeard's treasure is hidden just below the wat

The isles of shoals in new hampshire's only claim to sold water islands the best known of the isles according to historians historians such as celia taxter who was brought up there in the mid 1800s she writes at the time of the first settlement the islands were infested by pirates john scribner also a historian of the previous century writes there is a strong ground for suspicion indeed that the islanders were generally indulgent and sometimes friendly and serviceable in their intercourse with the numerous pirate ships which visited the harbour one islander who befriended pirates and probably was a pirate himself was phillip bob babb legend has it that he was one of captain kids mates but he couldn't have been for he died at the isles in 1671. he's supposed to have been so desperately wicked when alive writes celia taxed her that there is no rest for him in this in his grave his dress is coarse she says of his spirit uh stripe butchers frog with a leather belt to which is attached a sheath containing a ghosty knife sharp and glittering which is his delight to brandish in the face of terrified humanity bob lived on appledore the largest of the isles half a mile long and almost as wide his house was on the hill on the south side of the island near the cove here he dug a large pit with his friend ambrose gibbon in which he supposedly found a large treasure chest it was too heavy to lift out of the pit and smoke came from its lid when they tried to break the luck writes oscar lighten another isles historian there was also the smell of sulfur when which forced them to leave the chest obviously much of bob's shady life is cloaked in legend but all historians agree that bob did dig a great hall near the cove at appledore island it was filled in during the great storm of 1851 writes layton and the coast guard boathouse was later built over the treasure pit bob's ghost of course guards the buried treasure chest and so it seems wiser that more modern day treasure hunters concentrate on pirate caches that are known to be buried at the isles and are not haunted by a demented butcher pirate captain jack welch was a butcher of another sword for his creed was to kill everyone all aboard any vessel he captured and looted members of his bloodthirsty crew were actually caught in the act of burying gold at the isles his hierarchical career lasted only a year having begun when he was the first officer aboard the privateer charles out of boston there is speculation even to this day the charles anchored at gosport harbor at the isles of shoals prior to coming into marblehead and that the heavy 1200 or more silver bars were buried on the west side of appledore island while building a seawall at marino's island isles of shores in 1816 uh same halley jr uncovered four silver bars in the sand of south beach which were taught at the time to be part of quelch's buried treasure many marble harris believe that much of the treasure was buried only a few hundred feet from the town landing in fact treasure hunter's day was celebrated in may of each year in marblehead well into the 20th century no information on pirate treasure from the charles would have been forthcoming had not some members of the crew the day after the arrival frequented marblehead taverns spanning gold doubloons and nuggets of goldust for drinks and whilst in the cups divulge to tavern wenches the great riches of portuguese cargos they had taken off brazil of the 42 pirate crewmen aboard the charles governor dudley's constables capture seven within two days carrying on that person 45 ounces of gold and gold coins john clifford one of the pirates agreed to tell the attorney general everything about the voyage if he was pardoned he confessed that after arriving at marblehead a considerable quantity of goldust and gems was put out from salem to cape n with captain thomas larimore in the lotte morgali with 11 or more captain quelch's company the governor called out the militia militia and t

Tyron's landing the first puritans settled here in 1635 prior to six prior to 1640 there was a fort here east of the state prison which is now an apartment house site on north main street it would be very possible to find red space minerals here there have been two documented meteor landings one in 1971 and the other in 1982 there is a boulder that marks the site of a ferry site that crossed from connecticut river from 1674 to 1762 at the junction of marsh ferry and broad streets rare artifacts from a long ego are also found here dinosaur prints also have been discovered in town wilton is another place worth considering for exploring because in april 1770 welton was invaded by the british who were on the way to burn danbury the residents hid the silver and gold all around the area another town very interesting is called windham here residents had to bury the treasures before leaving to escape a raid by the french in 1758 the town was burned to the ground and many of the treasures are still buried the native american name for the area was quick homach which is nip mcword meaning shaking or trembling mountain there was also an ancient village on the fenton river in this area called now west sethunk which is a mohegan ward meaning small fish stream windsor is another place worth considering it was also known as maya tanak or dorchester it is thought that perhaps the vikings sailed up the connecticut river as far as windsor windsor in the year 1000 but no landing site was recorded however bronze viking implements and utensils were found near the enfield rapids and in plymouth metal on the farmington river perhaps there was a battle between the native americans and the vikings when the settlers first arrived these two places seemed taboo to the to the tribes the native american village here was called pacquona and the first satan was known as sheet s-h-e-a-t this was one of the stations that asked the english for help in the war against the piquants in 1631. this request and the constant attacks by the pequot on settlers who were living in connecticut were the main reasons that the massachusetts settlers declared war against the pequot and eventually settled in connecticut ford's will build here in 1637 along the present-day palisado avenue in 1699 there was an old stone fort located about one mile north of congressional meeting house on the east side of the highway there was a native american trail between plymouth meadow in windsor and hartford it was said to be the first public highway used by the settlers there is a body of water called devil's pond devil spawned in the spring of 1758 it was reported by the inhabitants that the unseen demons began to growl and scream from the pond in the middle of the night waking everyone however it was not demons they were making the sound it was mating all frogs however the name of the pawn stayed the same the modern reader must remember that this was a strange completely unknown region to the settlers they were terrified and had no support from where they came from everything was scary and they had nowhere to turn to ask questions or find answers they had to supply their own theories as to why events happen this is the site of a battle in the pequod war it was also a trading post but the settlers were driven out by peak ones however it might be that native americans were living in this area well before the pequots came in 1973 native american artifacts were found from 1 600 era if you enjoy this program please like it subscribe it and share another captain kid buried treasure might be found on an island called klux or clark keys island the story is that kid thought to have traveled the connecticut river and left two chests on his last trip to boston while visiting his friend whiskey clarke or whisking clark the chest the chest were said to be left on clark island and have never been found one of kids ships a sloop called san antonio came ashore with a huge chest bulging with gold witnes

with this sculpture the mohicans ultimately uh won the battle mayan tonoma was executed by uh caving his head in with the cartridge he was buried at the site called sachim's plane or point this side was marked and uh but it's now now unknown it was said to be on the west bank of the shetaket river at the junction of 117 and 2a about five miles southeast of town there was once a trading center and poor town on the thames river the ghost town was called pokhuyan tanak and faded from the area in the 1800s there are many ruins and buildings at this location caution and permission must be obtained when visiting any abandoned areas especially this one a silver shop was operated by joseph carpenter in 1747 on the old town green i'm gonna mention silver shops quite often because they usually the area where they used to be is great to explore in the ruins of the shop were found engraved copper plates with his business cards imprinted norwalk in fairfield county is located on the mouth of nor walk river the town was also known as nayang or no yank it is an alloquene word meaning point of land the native american village named norwalki or norwalk was here the reason for the name norwalk is because when purchased from the native americans its boundary was to extend northward from the sea one day's walk mohawk tribe artifacts have been found west of the harbor on wilson point this was also the site of the settler fort called ort fourth point the town was settled in 1651. between 1770 and 1781 the british ransacked this town as part of general tyron's raids sheffield sheffield island also known as smith island is the place where numerous colonial artifacts were discovered this is the site of the sheffield island lighthouse built in 1826. this light was extinguished forever in 1900 currently it is owned by the norwalk seaport association another captain kit treasure lies waiting to be discovered on pilot island the treasure is said to be in the fishers of a large rock formation connected to the island but underwater at high tide there is also a pirate treasure buried on goose island after the civil war captain joseph merrill found a rich horde of spanish coins here it is said that he had three dreams telling him exactly where the money was to be found the mouth of connecticut river is a very dangerous place for ships the first recorded wreck on griswold point was a break in 1749 now in 1801 the schooner avery was wrecked here during a squall during the hurricane of 1815 the middlesex gazette reported in the living memory of inhabitants at the time the highest storm surge occurred here in 1833 the wooden steamship new england exploded in old line captain kid buried a chest of gold under a boulder called lion's rack on a connecticut island in the connecticut river moons

Old riverbeds are great places to look for gems and precious metals po gasa p-a-u-g-a-s-u-c-k the pogasac reservation was located in milford from 1675 to 1861. this was a battlefield in 1648 between the wepawog and milford tribe and the morgue nation the burepa walk defeated the mohawks in a swamp about one mile east of the ferry side charles island is located off silver sands state beach and has a long haunted treasure-rich history this tri-score cursed haunted island started as a place of conflict between the settlers and the native americans the we power we w-e-p-a-o-w-a-y we power y or we power wag tribe who live here first the tribe believed that this was a sacred place connected to spirits a battle occurred with the settlers by the tribe laws it is said that the sagem or chief named ansan tawai put a curse on the island saying and the shelter will crumble to the earth and he shall be cursed it is said that the native american spirits guide guard the island and discourage any treasure seekers some legends state that the spirits of the powell gossip tribe who once lived here as well beheaded the pirates for bearing the treasure in the sacred land they are also the ones who made the treasure invisible to anyone who sought 25 ladies 25 years later captain kidd of course buried his treasure on charles island located of silver sands state beach under a place called hagrug in 1699. it is said that he stopped here while he was heading toward boston or kid might have buried treasure on stratford point the exact spot is vague anyway this thought goes that a chest was buried in 1699 and what was witnessed by residents this people said that the chess was buried by pirates and that they knew it was kid's crew no less there have been coins from his era found under the sand so there might be something to the legend it is said that in 1850 two men did find a treasure chest by saw a shrilly wristling headless body wrapped in a flaming sheet plunged toward them from above and they ran away terrified by a flaming skeleton they went insane never to recover from the fright so many people have searched here that island that has many pits where no vegetation grows that is considered the second curse of the island by the pirate kid and his pirate ghost who protect his treasure as an interesting side note there is a documentation that kid did visit this area twice so to dismiss the legend out of hand might be an error on the treasure seekers part the third curse was placed here 22 years ago after kids visit five sailors buried a mexican emperor's stolen treasure in a cave in 1721 the emperor cursed the treasure and those who stalled it if you enjoyed this program please subscribe like it and share it four out of all five sailors had a tragic death and the treasure was never recovered at the end of the 18th century a monastery was built on the island though the monks dismissed the native american curse many mysterious deaths suicide and insanity forced them to abandon the monastery the ruins can still be seen today in the 1950s a restaurant was opened but the little fire ended the enterprise hikers report seeing glowing objects hearing voices and even monks walking among the ruins the only access to the island is the causeway that only surfaces at a low tide do not dig on this island this is now a natural nature preserve posted with no trespassing science you can still explore it but just do not take on it by 2003 the island was uninhabited but people still see something on the beach going on by fishermen in the surrounding waters and when investigated there are no signs of the people or of people being on the beach on texas island t-u-x-i-s tuxes island or taxis island just offshore of milford a large amount of 18th century coins were supposedly found by campers in 1903 it is apparent that some sort of treasure can be found where a pirate left lost loot or a shipwreck nearby is giving coins to the lucky seeker small caches of pirate treasure

it's not a public area right now and it's also known as easter point lighthouse it was a place for wreckers and smugglers and those days wreckers were people
that would lure the ships onto the rocks by displaying false lights tricking the ships to wreck and to be destroyed and for the uh sailors and people on the ship basically would die and in most cases if they would not they would be killed by the wreckers it was a horrible horrible trade
and it often was a community affair it was the culture from which the saying was coined finders keepers losers reapers and as an interesting side note the term wrecker was used in the old days originally it was a person who would search for ships that were already wrecked would not cause them to to be wrecked
but the term ended up wreckers for people who would lure the ships and murder the survivors unfortunately it was widespread in this area and this is the reason why there was a great resistance to the building of lighthouses because it would cut down on the wrecking economic boom that many coastal towns villages communities so right in the same area of cape n was north atlantic grand banks those are considered the most dangerous waters in the world over 10 000 men have been lost at sea here and mostly fishermen from gloucester massachusetts work those dangerous waters and so it is no wonder that many tales of hunting and lost treasure
occur in those lonely but very important shores in 1899 we know that three schooners were wrecked on norman's wall
which is another name for north atlantic ground banks
we know that hespers the ellen m gleeson and the lcm smith were wrecked there
now we're gonna stay in this stay in this area of uh cape ann
and another interesting place is called snake island now snake island we have some historical evidence that in 1704 pirate john quelch have buried a large amount of gold right on snake island off of k n and treasure hunters did find a small amount of coins
however the coins they found did not date from the era of the pirates uh alleged buried treasure so they were not dating from 1704 so there is a huge potential there
staying around the same area we will go to uh tarpaulin cove t-a-r-p-a
cove uh which is located on the east shore of nashon island n-a-u-s-h-o-n island so there is a story that captain kidd stopped here
on one of his last voyages before he was captured and that he buried treasure there

Sitting on a secure Bitcoin network is One and Only podcast version of 'Treasure Revealed' episodes https://tribes.sphinx.chat/t/treasurerevealed Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TreasureRevealed1 i'm standing here right on mesquimerica beach where merchantman minerva wrecked in 1779 and it is still unsalvaged the artifacts all sorts of valuable things including gold coins silver coins and of course all kinds of things were found and still being found on a state mesquite beach which is a little bit further behind me the reason why i'm standing here is to give you an idea what miss quimaket beach state beach probably looked like before it was cleaned up to be usable as a state beach nowadays it was most likely very rocky and as you can see on this beautiful day right here we have complete park which in those days about what 240 days ago 240 years ago without navigational systems it was a nightmare to navigate and if that fog engulfed your ship and gorgeous schooner you were out of luck you could be pushed on the rocks and you had very high chances of being wrecked so right here on the squimakit beach so much stuff still can be found from that that shipwrecked minerva now there were other shipwrecks here that were documented and many more i'm sure they were not documented also in this area in the watchfield area there is a story about captain kidd buried the large chest of coins and of course it could be whether this is captain kid or other pirate it's not really that important because there's many treasures buried attributed to captain kid which is impossible that he buried all of them but whether this is him or radish or other pirates that operated or stopped by this area it's really not that significant the significant is the clues that we have that the treasure chest was buried right in this area in watch hill so come check it out it is tremendously interesting and high probability of finding something something very remarkable i'm gonna go a little bit further to show you what it most likely use it used to look like that the squamica beach and the danger of the rocks and underwater rocks that each cooner sailing this way was facing and if you were caught up in the storm well good luck that's most likely what happened to the merchant ship minerva a prime area to start exploring now across from the squamicate beach there is konochantar pond right across the road and so here we are i'm standing in front of konochantar pond in westerly which actually contained something very special in 1957 during a tremendous hurricane ten houses were lost and they were taken basically by the pond and they were under the water in one of those houses there was a steel chest full of very valuable collection of coins and those coins will never recover they are still in that pond they will be worth a fortune right now so for any out there um of you who is willing to explore this area and perhaps get the right permissions you can still have a go at it if you will obviously get the right permissions but right behind me it is very incredible that this steel chest full of in those those very rare coins worth a fortune right now it's still there my camera is possibly covering it right now so please don't forget to click subscribe and if you like it uh please click that like button i have some awesome awesome videos coming up um they are not just from rhode island they're going to be coming up from connecticut and massachusetts from here i'd like to take you to middletown to this special location to this jewel of a little church an ancient church a very small tiny church hidden in the residential neighborhood so i'm standing in front of a rarefun treasure i have found this episcopal chapel found in 1886 san columbus in middletown rhode island it's just incredible it's just incredible the beautiful stained windows which i will show you in a minute uh just look how beautiful this little chapel is right in the middle of middletown it's absolutely

Sitting on a secure Bitcoin network is One and Only podcast version of 'Treasure Revealed' episodes https://tribes.sphinx.chat/t/treasurerevealed Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TreasureRevealed1 I am in front of the cottage of betsy williams the great great granddaughter of roger williams the founder of rhode island and this ground is a very interesting very old she built her carriage in 1773 year after rhode islanders burned gaspee the hated british british ship that was uh used to enforce taxation and what many believe that 1772 burning gaspee was the beginning of american revolution so a year later here betsy built her cottage so let's take a look so as we approach here to the grounds where betsy williams and her sister lived they lived here till 1871 uh in which here they betsy bequeathed the property of 102 acres and the cottage to the city of providence which became the foundation of roger williams park so it's very interesting place here let's take a closer look it's fully restored as you can see let's see what the plug says there we go yep 102 acres and then the actual park con consists of 430 acres but this was the foundation of the roger williams park 102 acres that betsy williams donated to the city of providence look at this enormous tree so it is on a hill which is interesting they had a nice view let's take a closer look let's see what's on the other side that's the other side of the cottage let's peek inside the windows let's see if we can see anything on the inside i don't know here's a closer look at this massive tree right next to betsy williams house as you can see there is pretty nice view from that hill but right behind right next to the cow the cottage is roger williams himself let's take a closer look so there is several monuments of roger williams and my understanding is they never knew what he looked like so his face i know in one of the monuments i don't know if it's on this one is the face of ted williams the baseball the famous baseball slugger roger williams arrived in boston 11 years after the pilgrims landed at plymouth so he arrived on february 5th 1631 with his wife mary so he preached at first at salem then at plymouth he was a chaplain and he was fairly controversial figure because he thought the state and the church should be separated from each other he was controversial enough that the locals wanted to ship him back to england so he had to run away and he did run away to rhode island where he purchased the land from narragansett chiefs canonicals and mayan tsunami and named his settlement providence in thanks to god so he made actually two trips back to england during his lifetime the first one was in june or july 1643 was to obtain a charter for his colony to forestall the attempt of neighboring colonies to take over providence he returned to the providence plantations in narragansett bay which incorporated providence newport and portsmouth during this voyage he produced his best know non-litera literary work key into the languages of america published 1643.He returned to england um in order to have the charter confirmed so he had to he was basically defending rhode island from the neighboring massachusetts and connecticut trying to take over rhode island so not only he has found rhode island but he successfully defended from the neighboring states and so we have survived rhode island is obviously state right now and alive very very well except for some corruption of course that's going on and guess what is right across from betsy williams house kasmir version puwavsky polish hero polish general who came to fight for american freedom kasmir puwavsky was promoted to brigadier general by us congress in 1777 and he had an incredible military talent and experience and george washington really appreciate that having him next to him and yes he became the father of american cavalry so powavsky landed in boston in 1777 eager to join the american continental army to fight the british he un

Lowminster or Leominster Massachusetts native americans relics have been found in leominster and there is also a claim to this town that it is a landing site of vikings lynn massachusetts lin was
settled in 1629 and actually is named after a famous britain
meaning the place of spreading waters lynn beach was the place where the native americans guarded to prove the skill and the strength and it is also a site where many shipwrecks uh occurred not only the park vernon in 1859 or the english merchant man pembroke in 1766
that ship along carried 200 000 sterling in silver coins and the coin still can be found on the beach after a high tide or a large ocean storm
dungeon rock is super interesting place it's where the pirates
set to bury many treasures today it is a park and officially searching and digging uh for this treasure is highly discouraged so you really have to work with the local officials make sure you obey every law or regulations there the legend is that a huge cave used to be at the mouth of sagas river and it was destroyed uh most likely by the earthquake in 1658 it is said that pirates hung light signals from the latter rock you know to fool the small boats and the big boats doing their own ranking but it is also said that they would give the signals for the comrades to come to secretly hide their loot now the pirate the very famous pirate thomas veal
is said that he has been buried alive or crushed by the big rocks that tip over the entrance of the cave during an earthquake and they say that his ghost is guarding the treasure that to be sure is that in that cave before 1658 in order to disguise his uh format pirate life he set up uh a coupler shop schumacher shop as cover now view was the only one of four pirates who who came who escaped uh the british forces he was the only one who survived because the the three of his comrades were captured and hanged
now that shoemaker shop could still be seen as late as 1844.
there are many stories of outlaws who hung out in that area one of them says that they captured an english princess and murdered her there
so as a side note that claims that the earthquake the great earthquake of 1658 happened right in the middle of hurricane
and something catastrophic happened in that spot
now in 1830s there were two attempts to blow up the rock covering the entrance to the to the to the cave but all they did was destroy totally completely the entrance to that cave
but again it is interesting place to to do some um exploring nevertheless many years ago four men are said to have sailed this saugus river and stopped at sergus iron works to buy tubes shovels
and other digging tools and they asked that the tools be delivered at the place called pirates glen and the payment would be waiting for them in silver bars and so the tools were delivered but no one was there you know to claim them so they just they just left them there the money was there they left the tools and no one ever saw those men again
marble had massachusetts so many privateers and mooncasters records as they are called made a living in barneygat district b-a-r-n-e-g-a-t
district and many pirates smugglers were actually welcomed there and it would they were actually hiding at fountain inn in 1722
very well known pirate edward law plundered at least 13 ships near marblehead john quelch also suppose as we talked i think before already we mentioned that have buried treasure here on snake island nearby there is uh an offshore island called satan rock a place where many wrecks occurred and treasure hunters have found large amounts of 18th century english spanish and other coins in that era they also in that area the steamer norsemen wrecked right off tom moore rock in 1899

the story of a screaming or a screeching woman i started on ocom beach o-a-k-u-m beach in 1680 now the story goes

Treasure Hunting - The Mystery of Missing Pure Silver Providence Church Silver Bell

One of the most interesting and perplexing mysteries in Rhode Island is connected to the so-called lost silver church bell that once hung in a Providence Church Tower the Bell was very finely crafted in 17th century by a Dutch silver smith and it was made out of almost pure silver and waited about 500 lb, so during the next 228 years the Bell disappeared three times and after the third time the Bell vanished in 1891 it was not seen again many believe that it is still somewhere in Providence City limits Providence Rhode Island, later it showed up in United States and nobody knows how it arrived or who brought it here on January 1st 1665 that silver bell was hung in the tower of Providence Church where it rang in the new year, Sunday services and others and rank for the next 91 years so it was removed in 1756 so we talking about like 91 years later and it was taken down without any explanation it was shipped to Englandin 1812 during the war and American vessel engaged in a bottle a British worship they subsequently captured that British worship and during the search they found the silver Bell any explanation of why the Bell was on the ship was never provided and so after several months the Bell eventually returned to Providence where it was hung once again in the same church Tower and eventually the old and crumbling Providence Church needed maintenance and repairs so the Bell had to be removed and it was stored in the chambers of an assistant priest now here is when it gets interesting there was a strange man known by the name of Grayson who was employed by the church during that time so he was a character equivalent to the hunchback of Notterdam, it was whispered that he actually was one of the pirates in his youth but despite Grayson's deformities he was unusually strong and he was often called to lift or move heavy objects and he usually did those with relative ease in fact Grayson almost single-handedly transported that silver bell to its resting place in the priest quarters so while the Masons were busy with the repairing of the church Tower that's silver Bell mysteriously disappeared and frantic Church officials conducted searches of the building and the grounds but were unable to find that precious Bell several weeks went by they stopped looking and so that cherish Providence Bell what about remain complete mystery, Grayson who was still employed by the church was seen entering a dark side of Providence tavern called the dolphin and seated himself at the table with other four suspicious looking individuals all of them were rough and dressed like pirates arrived previous day and anchored the ship at the distance from the harbor so the dark side workers notorious could not be looking at them I guess so the newcomers were not known by anybody local and after Grayson's arrival they spoke in the quiet and harsh tones while they ordered number of rounds of ale and according to the people who said close by enough to overhear the conversation they said that they were haggling over the price of that silver bell and the grace and claim that he knew what the Bell was hidden Grayson clearly upset hobbled out of the tavern and it was last time anyone saw him alive shortly after the following day two fishermen discovered Grayson's body lying on the shore where the Providence harbor narrows his throat had been cut historians have studied this aspect of Providence history and I have concluded that Grayson believing he would be able to sell the silver Bell to the pirates stole it from the priest's room where it was for the time being and of course with Grayson's strength it's quite possible that he alone could have carried out that Bell to another location and hide it and when the opportunity presented itself Grace's attempted to sell it to the pirates and however the transaction was never fu

is a colonial-made narrow rock passage through the foot of the mount holyoke which is 990 feet tall it's right near the connecticut river the passage was created by constantly pouring water on that rock and of course uh it was taking away the granite and then it split now uh obviously the settlers would not have to climb over mount holyoke anymore they could go right through it titan's piazza is a volcanic bluff that is found here it is classified as a world major natural phenomenon and many fossil footprints you can find them there is so-called devil's football which is a 300 ton magnetic boulder and geologists think it was carried by the glaciers from deerfield or sunderland and the legend is that the devil kicked the boulder here from the devil's garden at amherst march so this town was abandoned during king philip's war and was known as swamp field at that time so i don't have to tell you that incredible fines could turn out over there for a diligent treasure hunter if you enjoyed this program please subscribe like it and share it medwin massachusetts m-e-t-h-u-e-n

Puerto Rico Mona Island and Silver Shoals

Puerto Rico Mona Island and Silver Shoals

A poetic justice in a tragic form took place on july 4th 1502 a fleet of 32 caravels had assembled at santo domingo four days before making ready to sail for spain among the passengers on antonio de torres's flagship which was el dorado was this ever-skimming bobadilla he was an interesting character he actually imprisoned columbus two years earlier um and by coincidence that paths crossed again right there and columbus uh over there put in at santa domingo on his return from a voyage he didn't like the feel of the heavy still air the atmosphere recognizing the familia uh for warning of hurricane i mean you have to remember columbus was a very experienced sailor navigator so despite all that happened in the past between them he told boba dela that he was fearing the incoming storm but his advice was scorned perhaps boba dela remembered the famous navigator's warning four days later as he struggled for his life in the watery fury of the worst hurricane ever recorded at that time during 12 hours of july 4th its cyclonic winds and massive waves tore the flora to shreds swamping a dozen of ships in the mona passage and breaking most of the rest against the shores of puerto rico santo domingo and mona islands only five people survived that day 27 caravels among them el dorado were lost with over 500 lives including boba dillas there was treasure in quantity on the destroyed ships perhaps half of its gold nuggets and dust and pearls had been stole aboard el dorado the single richest item was a solid gold table reputed to one and weigh half tons through which boba dylan intended to express his gratitude to the catholic king for his appointment as governor so yeah he was a governor and that's why he had the power to imprison columbus for whatever reason so the flagship was believed to have gone down in the mona passage where depths of thousand feet are encountered no trace of its wreckage was discovered during the salvage work along the coast after the seas had subsided much was recovered from wrecks which had been thrown up on reefs and beaches but at least 3 million and of course that value was in 1962 in gold and pearls were gone so obviously the value is much much higher right now so in the accounts of boba dilla's 3310 pound golden table if his accounts were true about two million dollars in treasure lie in the remnants of el dorado and again this is in old dollars today much much higher value so it remains in el dorado way down under mona passage some of the other wrecks against the coast partly salvaged or beyond reach of uh beyond the reach of uh 1500 indian skin divers might make worthwhile targets for modern scuba divers but el dorado and had treasures will be difficult to find since they were not found as of yet according to the records but we do know that it was close to the shores so the depths are not going to be that that deep to encounter now let's focus on mona island puerto rico so mona island m-o-n-a mona island is the our hippolygo of puerto rico la is as the spanish call it is a natural paradise with no native inhabitants as of that riding which we're talking about six years ago at uh just 11 kilometers by seven kilometers this is in fact the location where the infamous english pirate hang henry j king's jennings known not only for his cruelty but also for his knowledge and good manners hate his treasure an expedition in 1939 discovered the da bloon filled chest and was auctioned in chicago for a fabulous sum back then a million dollars i mean we're talking about 1939 uh dollar value but that wasn't the only treasure on the island kept hidden every once in a while i gold coins were washed ashore by the tide the island was not inhabited as of that riding so whoever found it kept it for himself now i'm gonna go to different sources to expand on our knowledge of this island of mona island so he is riding from a piece called the treasures of silver shoals and the isle of mystery well-informed treasure hunters have

Treasure Hunting in Groton-Berkshire Cave-Hatfield-Hingham-Holyoke-Ipswich Bay-Lakeville-Lancaster-Lanesboro-Salisbury Beach Massachusetts

A band of native americans nipmax attacked and destroyed groton during king philip's war in 1676. many men women and children were killed here and it is said that the ghostly screams of those killed can still be heard if one listens closely there is a native american legend in hotfield close by that uh in 1675 over 800 native americans were slaughtered here and the woman who supposedly betrayed them was drawn to dogs who tore her apart native american attacks caused the town eventually to be abandoned in 1670 but it was repopulated later on it is a very sad story one after another but it is a great place to explore hingham massachusetts so in hingham there are remains of a settler for details of exactly where this fort is are very vague however for diligent treasure hunter nothing is impossible if you figure out where this fort was located i cannot tell you the the rewards you might you might have from that research holyoke massachusetts In holyoke men many native americans arrowheads have been discovered so it's a great place to explore as well now uh dinosaur trucks again they seem to be everywhere but here the dinosaur trucks have been discovered on the west bank of connecticut river and those trucks are over 150 million years old so check them out lakeville massachusetts lakeville is the site of a native american village as well as burial ground um lancaster another town was actually attacked during king philip's war so those places again are are very interesting and should be checked out should be uh it's a good place to explore now the town of hannington in massachusetts was also a skirmish site in chase rebellion salisbury beach massachusetts the schooner jenny m carter wrecked of salisbury beach in 1894 actually grace ledge is also known as salisbury pinnacle and so there goes the legend a very good clue for us that about 175 thousand dollars was buried in salisbury the details however are fairly vague as far as what exactly or who buried that ipswich bay massachusetts the schooner mexican wrecked at ipswich bay in 1890 and coins were found washed ashore west lanesboro massachusetts so in west lanesboro baker's quarry cave is located and it is a marble cave so the solid marble cave is considered one of the most beautiful caves in new england along the border of massachusetts and new york there are three caves in the so-called taconic range and the reason why i'm referring to them is because they were used by counterfeiters and especially the one near lanesboro on the western shoulder of a constitutional hill the names of the caves are crevice cave counterfeiters cave and belcher's cave the road that leads to those caves is called silver street because of obviously the fake silver coins that were produced there now counterfeiters cave is very interesting because there is a 75 foot tall waterfall which guards the entrance to that cave now the cave actually crumbled and it's inaccessible right now and it's considered the lost cave located in pittsfield state forest now in 1890s counterfeiters used to melt silver uh to make their fake coins uh and during a flood a slob of rock fell over the entrance of the cave and it is possible that there still might be fake silver coins left in the cave now crevice cave is basically a one large opening above a brook constitutional hell got its name from the historical speech given there by jonathan smith which is said to change the history of massachusetts adopting a national convention belcher's cave is a 30 feet long cave located on bang hill now this cave is especially of interest because this was the cave where the most brazen counterfeiters and the most important counterfeiters at that time in new england history worked there this is where they set up shop it is where the fake money was made and they actually named it for the leader of the group gail belcher fake coins dated 1834 were actually found in a burlap sack by some group of boys who were in the area

Smithfield, Rhode Island - Ghost Town Hanton City II

so i definitely came to uh some sort of clearing and looks like a partial stone wall box that's the problem this is pretty big clearing here right in the middle of the woods looks like that wall strong wall continues further here this would be very interesting place to search with the metal detector there's a clear puff here as well interesting let's go this way a little bit further honestly i don't know where i am right now i think i would have to go back to hit some sort of hit my main trail but i'm not quite sure looks like there is a little remnants of the stall wall stone wall here backs are getting worse i'm getting more sweaty maybe this way so there's definitely human activity over there let's keep going there's a depression here with some sort of rock formations around it i'm not sure what was here but it looks like former human activity again would be a good area to search i'm going completely through the woods not sure where i'm heading i'm not sure where i am to be honest there's a bit of a clearing here let's continue here not sure which way he'd go back and how i'm gonna go back but i'm hoping state of line is small enough that i will eventually reach somewhere i just hope i'm not going to meet the bear or some other creature that's bigger than me this is a spooky place i have to say i have to admit pretty dark tons of bugs and uh it looks like a bed of a stream maybe that's why there's so many bugs here i gotta get out of here oh what's this this is bugs are killing me i continue on the trail and i see on the right a stone wall so let's get it closer now that's a definite nice looking stone wall here let's continue see where it leads us there's a little depression here it's not a good time definitely during the fall it's better to come here here this would be a such a nice area to explore that's what it ends let's continue further in see where it will take us there's a definite over here there's another stone wall i can see in a little bit of distance from me let's check that area as well looks like there was a little stream that's why there's so many bugs but this is this looks like there was some sort of settlements some construct some housing probably this area is a little more clear but there you go there is another stone wall right here and i see further down the stone wall continues okay then let's go let's go further down and explore as i can see the stonewall definitely splits this one goes to the right and this one goes to the left it's interesting so i think i found definitely a place where they lived you can see the stone wall here splits to the left and continues further down and then there is a hill let's go up to here let's see what's going on over there so i am on top of the hill and as you can see down there there's a stone wall i can tell there's a lot of human activities there used to be there's a lot of rocks so there's a little buffalo trail here that i'm gonna use to see if i can find something well there's a this hill actually continues further up okay so let's go further up and see what we can find over there but i see a lot of timber here it's definite definite human activity from long time ago well i'm on top of the hill i don't really see anything super interesting although there is pretty much everything here is reclaimed by mother nature but i'm gonna go down the hill across that wall stone wall and see if i can follow it whoa there is a pretty steep decline over here let's go this way ah i'm gonna try to reach that stone wall uh but i'm gonna go this way coming to another fairly spooky place i have to say quite interesting just take a look it's very quiet i don't really hear birds chipping here there's a big rock formation ahead of me let's check it out i'm just going right now without any path just going right through i think i can come across more interesting sites but as you can see down here that is an interesting place this freaking deer scared the hell out of me i bet you he

Ghost town Hanton City in Smithfield, Rhode Island

Ghost town Hanton City in Smithfield, Rhode Island

i am in front of hunting city trail um i'm in the search for the lost gomes town in smithfield rhode island called hampton city it's been occupied during colonial times the last known occupant died i believe is in 18 late 1800s so it is very interesting place mystery surrounds it it's not in town register so i will try to uncover it get as much information and hopefully it will turn out to be interesting area for treasure hunters so let's go this is my second attempt to find that city as you can see it's just a small little trail of i will give you the directions later but as you can see it's just a small trail it's called hampton city trail there's two of them there uh it's right before strasino rocky hill road but i will give you the directions later on so let's go and see what this is all about
let's see what's on the left side here
so here we are in the ghost town in rhode island uh that most people don't know about and uh you know rumor has it that this colonial area era ghost town uh once existed and served quite a purpose there are different versions one says that most people here were run away slaves or people with certain afflictions but we do know that it contained a lot of good useful professions for that era such as shoemakers tanners uh and so forth so this town is called hampton city of course and it's known to locals as lost city to the locals i mean in smithfield so it was a small mostly farming town and it was uh isolated kind of from the main town of smithfield and certainly from the rest of rhode island the exact the dates of when the town started is not known but we know it's around 1776.
and we know that the town existed until right before 1900 the last resident i think was mr henton died in right before 1900.

so it kind of disappeared after that it was in decline for for for a number of years already and i think it's due to the progress to the fact that their new roads were being built and it diverted the business away from them the main families that were the original families that basically created these communities this community were hunting shippies and paints so as you can see we're walking through there are uh many human activities uh there and we know that there are stone foundations uh i know there is a burial site somewhere uh we'll get to that as well hopefully we'll find it and we'll find some some sellers a very interesting time

this is getting interesting

i don't want to fall into some sort of old well

or a cellar be careful moving around here but that looks like

old

structures

interesting

looks like

it was a bunch of structures around close to each other

let's see what's

going on over there that is uh

a little bit more

looks like a up

and there's a hole

whoa

this is interesting

human activities from long time ago apparently this town was a thriving town full of professionals those days tanners uh shoemakers apparently and and other professions that were useful at that time it was driving and then apparently times got very harsh i don't know dude probably to the modern progress buildup of roads

i can see back further down one place after another completely taken over by nature what's this looks like a little

tiny house

huh that's interesting isn't that cool

right behind me

looks like some animal dig up a hole over there

so let's continue on that trail and i don't know exactly how long it is maybe 45 minutes or so walking distance but i will keep my eyes open when it structures any human activities to the right
i know they talk about this hampton city as a haunted city they hear noises people talking
uh so we'll see if i hear anything i'll let you know i venture to the side and i see almost everywhere human activity looks like there's a little puff going through the side let's continue
let's see where it will take us well this is there's almost no blush here because in the other places there's the brush is fairly thick it would be good idea to come here during the fall

Pirate Captain Kidd part IV

Pirate Captain Kidd part IV

Captain Kidd sailed for long island sound, entered it from the eastward end and made for new york cautiously anchoring in oyster bay nowadays uh seditiously avoided by male factors of great wealth it was his purpose to open negotiations with belmont at long range if you don't know captain's kids story you can definitely find out more i'm just gonna focus on what's relevant to us belmont was a governor of massachusetts who was his former uh who was his partner however he was going after kid and kid wasn't sure whether to trust him or not so he opened a negotiation with the lord belmont at long range holding his treasure as an inducement for a pardon to be pardoned from being a pirate being at least labeled a pirate from oyster bay he sent a letter to a lawyer in new york james emmat emmod who had before then defended pirates and also a message to his wife emma was asked to serve as a go-between and he hastened to join kate on the sloop explaining that belmont was in boston there upon the antonio this is the sloop the kid was using it's actually called saint antonio or saint anthony it's the same slew so antonio waded anchor and sailed westford westward as far as narragansett bay now this is why i was quoting this because this definitely talks about him being in narragansett bay some of the events i'm presenting here are the same events but are presented from different accounts with different point of view and with additional information so i'm not repeating myself i'm just adding information which is very useful for us treasure hunters kid suspected belmont's intentions and decided to leave his treasure in safe hands instead of carrying it to boston with him now follows the documentary narrative of the authenticated buried treasure of captain kid at the eastern end of long island sound is a beautiful wooden island of tree of three thousand acres which has been owned by the gardiner family as a manor manor since the first of them lionel gardner obtained a royal grant almost three centuries ago in june of 1699 john gardner third of the line of proprietors cited a strange sloop anchored in his island harbor and rolled out to make the acquaintance of captain william kidd who had crossed from narragansett bay in the san antonio what happened between them and how the treasure was buried and dug up is told in the official testimony of john gardner dated july 17 16 99 i quote before we fall to digging up the treasure of gardner's island carried a short in the chest of box of gold it is well to follow those other goods which were carried away in the sloops about which so much has been said by the said john gardner now all of the plan that transfer from kit sloop to those other craft work was cosigned to him and some of it was put ashore at stamford connecticut in charge of a major seller who had a warehouse hired by the sound clark was arrested by order of belmont and gave a bond of 12 000 pounds that he was delivered up all up to the government this he did without doubt but the legend has been busy with this enterprising whisking club so in the connecticut river of the upper end of pine meadow near northfield massachusetts is clark's island which was granted by the town to william clark in 1686 and confirmed to his ears in 1723 it then contained 10 and 3 4 acres and was a secluded spot well covered with trees later what with cutting of the woods and the work of the freshers a large part of the island was washed away it was here traditional hazard that some of the kids treasure was hidden by whisking clark the local story is that kid and his men ascended the river though how they got over the series of falls is not explained and made a landing at clark's island here having placed the chest in a hole they sacrificed by lot one of the number and laid his body on top of the treasure in order that his ghost might forever defend it from the fortune secrets on october 20th 1699 belmont wrote in a letter to england i have prevailed with
