Ep.2: Training to kayak around Ireland
In this podcast John and Diane share their training stories before they took on the challenge to kayak around Ireland. They tell us about their different training programmes and the effects of it, how they kept well training in horrendous weather conditions, how they mastered the difficult task of rolling in water and why they will never forget the act of kindness from Alan O’Grady from O'Grady's Guesthouse, Clare Island.
In the podcast Diane says “I have never in my life heard John laughing so much. He laughed for hours after it had happened, we would be paddling away, and he would literally just burst out laughing to the point where he couldn’t even paddle”. Ep.1: Preparing to kayak around Ireland
In 2014, True Fitness directors Dr Diane Cooper and John Bolton kayaked around Ireland (1,000 miles – 14 to 17 hours per day for 40 days) in aid of Laois and Offaly hospices. In this episode they share why they decided to take on the challenge and how they planned for it. The dynamic duo tell us what equipment they used, what was in their personal toolkit, how they mastered going to the "toilet" and why a cup of tea and five chocolate digestive biscuits was so important to them at the end of each day.
