The Book Club - Midnight : Chapters 1-2
The Book Club - The Vanishing Half Part 3 (Chap 6-9)
We finally meet Stella! We discuss Stella's assimilation into white society and her fear of being "discovered". This set of chapters presented the opportunity for sharing personal anecdotes and considering how major conflicts for Stella are still very much present for the Black community today.
The Book Club - The Vanishing Half Part 2 (Chap 3-5)
This week we unpack the illustration of Jude's childhood growing up as the only dark skin child in Mallard, experiences with domestic violence turning into generational curses, Jude's "untethered" relationship with her father, Jude's layered journey to love with Reese, and Early being BAE AF (to us lol)!

El Libro de August
This week I am joined by the multifaceted host of Check Please! Podcast, Arielle. This week we discuss using social media to shed light on injustices that do not initially get Media coverage (RIP Elijah McClain), seeking justice for Vanessa Guillen by exposing the culture of sexual harassment/abuse in the military, improving Black and Brown relations *Craig from Friday Voice* and starting a trend of high ranked athletes committing to HBCUs. Introspective Moments highlights how powerful and necessary the August Alsina interview ,with Angela Yee, along with his stateofEMERGEncy: The Rise of August Alsina documentary is in addressing the trauma and healing within the Black community.
