Different in the same ways?

Different in the same ways?

We had our friend B on this episode to talk about her research on autism, the inaccessibility of getting a diagnosis, and racial disparities in testing for neurodivergence. Plus, we talk about ADHDtok and how scarily accurate it can be. Note: We didn't get a chance to mention it in the episode, but the preferred terminology backed by autistic people for April is Autism Acceptance Month instead of awareness. This puts the onus of education and destigmatization on allistic people so we can have meaningful dialogue about building support systems for neurodivergent people. Hopefully, this episode is a good jumping off point for you to do your own research! P.S. - Check our Instagram @uhexcusemepod to see a list of autistic people to follow.

Why play me when you can play a game?

For once, we actually have an expert on the show. This week we're talking communication and... the lack thereof? We invited Maria to talk casual sex, romance, and relationships, plus to give us textual citations on how we can heal from people who don't have our best interests at heart. Maybe we should file this episode under psychology?
