Ep. 109: Uncommon Deeds Live from New Hampshire Motor Speedway
Story Time: Northeastern Speedway
We're going to Loudon
Tom and Justin drop in to talk about their upcoming live show at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Ep. 108 Mark "Bones" Bourcier
Mark "Bones" Bourcier is America's leading motorsports author and journalist. From hitchhiking to Plainville Stadium to having weekly lunches with Indianapolis 500 champions, there are damn few who can rival his journey of turning a fun hobby as a teenager into a career respected by many of the greatest racing personalities in the world. He penned high-quality articles at Gater Racing News, Speedway Scene, Stock Car Racing Magazine, Trackside Magazine, and Open Wheel before writing books with and about the likes of Parnelli Jones, Tony Stewart, Bentley Warren, Richie Evans, Bugsy Stevens, Bill Simpson and many more. Get to know this legendary storyteller this week on Uncommon Deeds!
Ep. 107 Justin Comes
Justin Comes has been doing it the right way since he was a kid. At 15, he was a fan who had never been in a pit area but decided to give Mini Stocks a try. After winning a championship in his first year, he jumped up to Sportsman Modifieds, where he has made a name for himself ever since. It hasn't all been easy, though - with no knowledge, no money, and often just his dad, Tom, as the only help, he has been forced to learn every inch of the car himself and get better over the years, and he has done just that. Get to know "The Highside Hustler" this week on Uncommon Deeds!
Story Time - Numbers!
Tom and Justin check in for the first solo “Story Time” episode of Uncommon Deeds, presented by PRO HEAT of East Montpelier, VT. This week’s Story Time asks questions like this: Who was a better racer – Dave Dion or Jack Johnson? If you look strictly at the win totals, it’s pretty lopsided. But if you ever saw them both race, it’s just about a dead-even argument. We take a look at why win totals are so far apart between dirt and asphalt racing, and how drivers like Matt Sheppard and Jean-Paul Cyr can be considered equally dominant, yet be more than 400 wins apart. Ep. 106 Andy Santerre
Andy Santerre is a bona fide New England racing icon... and a great storyteller! You'll be speechless as you hear about his early fight with a paralyzing virus and how it served as his motivation to start driving racecars. The rapid rise from his first Super Street race at Speedway 95 to victory lane in the NASCAR Busch Series was unlikely at best, and it serves as the basis for some incredible memories. And, of course, there was that amazing run of four consecutive Busch North Series championships and the highs and lows of that period. Enjoy our chat with a legend on this episode of Uncommon Deeds!
Ep. 105 Gene Munger
Racing dirt Modifieds was the safest thing that "The Flying Farmer" Gene Munger ever did. He was a hometown star at Devil's Bowl Speedway, but that's just a small piece of who he is; he's been shot, he has fallen through ice (twice), he wrapped his motorcycle around a deer, and he's wrecked some racecars, but he's still standing upright and telling the stories! You CAN NOT miss this episode of Uncommon Deeds!
Ep. 104 Paul Richardson
"The Ricochet" Paul Richardson is one of the greatest Supermodified drivers that New England ever saw, and he just might have had the most fun, too. You'll love his stories from the road, his start in racing, and his life in the sport. His runs with NESMRA, ISMA, and especially at Star Speedway made him a legend among legends, while beating top talents like Ollie Silva, Bentley Warren, and many more. But, he was an incredible Pro Stock driver, too, beating Dale Earnhardt, winning with ACT, and writing history at Catamount Stadium. We have a feeling that we just barely scratched the surface with this one, but it's a great episode! All this and more this week on Uncommon Deeds!
Ep. 103 Derek Gluchacki
Ep. 102 Larry & Gary Caron
The Caron Family has produced no less than seven talented racers over the last half-century, and we caught up with its two biggest winners - Larry Caron & Gary Caron! From beginning at the Milton Dragstrip to winning ACT and NASCAR Busch North Series races, from dominating the Hurricanes and Flying Tigers to watching their brothers, sons, and nephews have success, catch up with these legends this week on Uncommon Deeds!
Ep. 101 Chris Donnelly
There's a reason why they call Chris Donnelly "The Professor" - he's been schooling everyone for almost 40 years. With more than 180 wins and 25 championships to his credit, this multi-division star could very well be the greatest dirt driver that New England has ever seen. Find out what makes this veteran tick in this episode of Uncommon Deeds!
Ep. 100 Part 2 Mike Bruno
Part 2 of a special two-part Episode 100 has one of our most-requested guests in Mike Bruno! We dive into everything from his growing up in a racing family to his start in four-cylinders and then traveling with the Super DIRTcar Series, his rise on the American-Canadian Tour and the NASCAR Busch North Series, dominance in Modifieds, family tragedy and tough times, and becoming a successful business owner and promoter at Devil's Bowl Speedway.
Ep. 100 Part 1 Mike Bruno
Part 1 of a special two-part Episode 100 has one of our most-requested guests in Mike Bruno!
Ep. 99 Kelly Arrison
Take a trip around the world with Kelly Arrison - a Vermont native who made it from Monadnock Speedway and Claremont Motorsports Park to Indianapolis, LeMans, Beijing, Pikes Peak, and a whole lot more. You'll laugh at the story of his first start, and you'll be amazed at the places he's been, the cars that he has engineered and driven, the races that he's won, and the people that he has worked with. From VW Beetles on dirt to Porsche 962s at 200 mph, from Sprint Cars at Kalamazoo to IndyCars at Phoenix, from Late Models at Claremont to the big tracks of NASCAR... From Bill Alsup to David Loring, from Geoff Bodine to Franck Fréon, from Al Holbert to his son Tim Arrison... We barely scratched the surface, but, man, what a ride!
Ep. 98 Dale Quarterley
This episode is wild, hilarious, deep, honest, and full of incredible memories. DQ is regarded as one of the greatest privateer AMA Superbike riders in history, is one of only a handful of drivers to win a NASCAR Busch North Series race on a short track, a superspeedway, and a road course, and now at age 62 he's going ARCA and Truck racing in 2023. Buckle up - this episode of Uncommon Deeds is a must-listen!
Ep. 97 Nick Heywood
Nick Heywood could quit at age 34 and still go down as a legend. After six track championships at Airborne Speedway, a title at Mohawk International Raceway, and a huge Modified win at Fonda Speedway in 2022, he is in the conversation as one of the North Country's best racecar drivers of all-time. He mixes a fun sense of humor into stories of his brief career as a school teacher, his role now as a corrections officer, and being part of a diehard racing family. All this and more this week on Uncommon Deeds!
Ep. 96 Roger Brown
Roger Brown went from being a "terrible" four-cylinder racer to becoming an Oxford 250 Champion in only a decade. His rise at Riverside Speedway led him to Thunder Road and the American-Canadian Tour, and then to victory lane in one of the country's biggest short track races... but then he was suddenly out of the sport. Catch up with him this week on Uncommon Deeds for a fun look back through a short but stellar career!

Ep. 94 Mike Parks
We're back this week with Mike Parks - a guy who has given far more to the sport than what he is currently receiving in return. He was an accomplished driver in his day, but more importantly he founded the Granite State Pro Stock Series and got Claremont Motorsports Park back on solid footing - only to get kind of a raw deal recently. We explore all of that and much more in a great conversation with one of racing's good guys!
