The Highs & Lows of Navigating Art Spaces w/ Ziana Pearson
In episode 7 of Undoing Our Erasure, we sat down with the talented Ziana! Ziana is a Haitian American multidisciplinary artist from Chicago. We talked about navigating the art world, the good and the bad. Ziana let us know about what inspired them to take their art career seriously, their own personal experience with moving throughout the art scene in the city, what can be done better, and the community organizing work they're engaged in! Ziana is a co-founder of Velvet Couch Productions- a collective working to foster safe spaces for Black queer people in the city. It was a pleasure talking with them, check out our conversation!
Ep. 6 Solo Organizing with Nita
Episode 6 of Undoing Our Erasure digs into the ins and outs of what it's like to do community organizing either in a small collective or doing the work all by yourself. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Nita from Nita's Love Train to talk about her personal organizing experience and phenomenal work throughout Chicago. Nita's Love Train was founded in 2020 as a response to the rise of a need for nursery supplies, toiletry items, and other household essentials during the height of the pandemic. Since then Nita has done multitudes of mutual aid pop-ups, love marches promoting peace throughout neighborhoods in the city, and beautiful memorials dedicated to young people who have lost their lives to gun violence. Listen to hear more about Nita, and the fantastic work she's doing.
