Welcome to Episode 10! Back to the comedy with Matt Carter talking about Nate Bargatze!

Matt has been making his way through the Southeast on the Stand Up stage. I knew him back in high school when he was in a bands and theater with me! I was delighted to hear that he has been following one of my true all-time passions, comedy! Naturally I decided it was time to have him on the show, the chemistry was already there. Matt talked with us about Nate Bargatze who just recently released a Netflix special and has been making his way through the comedy scene with his clean comedy acts that remain relatable still! This conversation really brought to light the impact of how you feel about and perceive things while approaching any part of art or entertainment. A lot of these questions were written while watching Chase Jarvis' interview with Nate titled Nate Bargatze: Creativity, Comedy + Never Settling. I'd highly recommend checking that out! Welcome to Episode 8! This is the first episode of 2020! We are mixing things up a little bit and starting the year off with my other love, comedy! Local Denver based comedian Rick Bryan sat down to chat with us about his inspiration Eddie Murphy! Anyone who has laughed before knows exactly who Eddie is! With Eddie just doing his return to SNL as a host, it's never been a more perfect time to discuss this legend! We get deep and talk about loss, fighting through pain, and all of the controversy surrounding being a comedian! This episode is different but we still get down to the same core info and understanding of what it takes to stand out! Thanks so much to Rick for sitting down with us.

When we found these guys at a local  venue we were instantly hooked on their sound! They’ve got that core  Modest Mouse feel, while still maintaining their own unique sound. Tune  in and listen to us talk about what it takes to start from nothing, live  with your bandmates, and still make something special. We are so happy to close this year out with a local Denver based talent! This is the city that made this show possible, from Episode 1 with Mr. Bill 20 minutes from UoU HQ all the way to meeting this band downtown, Denver is truly one of the most happening spots for artists (especially musicians!). Chris Dyer, well known and epic painter came to our studio in Denver, drew a picture for Uniquity over Ubiquity, and talked deeply and passionately about his role as an artist. Listen and learn as we talk about art, overdoing it, nature, and what it means to pay respects and homage without copying another artist altogether. Chris is an awesome artist and an even cooler person. You can tell just by the way he talks and the words he uses that he is on a serious path to enlightenment. As he follows that path he leaves bright colored murals and merch in his wake. We hope you enjoy this one!

Welcome to Episode 3!

We sat down with Blockhead to discuss hip hop and sample legend Prince Paul! Prince Paul is most famous for his work with De La Soul and made some immense strides in the way sampling was handled in the 80’s/90’s. In this interview we break down what changes happened within hip hop to get where we are today. We also talk about sampling then vs. now. Blockhead is a super knowledgeable person about the history of hip hop. This interview is so informative and covers how we approach the ever changing landscape that rap music has experienced. And what better artist to discuss this with than someone who cranks out some of the most unique and intricate sample based beats. Blockhead has worked with a multitude of people from Illogic to Aesop rock. This NYC based producer is not afraid to let his weird style shine through. From the multitude of different albums he has released it’s easy to see the range this man is capable of. These are two similar artists that still maintained their own lanes in their art form. We also get into Blockheads previous projects and groups to see where the style that inspired him bled through the most. From the Music Scene, all the way to his newest album, Free Sweatpants, Blockhead has entertained a multitude of genres while still having a distinguishable sound. This is one of the best artists to discuss on this show because he is truly unique in every sense of the word. We could not be more delighted to speak to someone so intriguing about someone even more interesting than anyone could even hope to be. This man is easily one of the most innovative, hardworking, imaginative artists to ever exist. Listen and learn as we discuss music, censorship, analog vs. digital, not caring what people think, and so much more. This interview weighed in at 2 hours so we split it over 2 episodes for attention span’s sake. Up next Blockhead talks about Prince Paul with us! Stay tuned!
