Talking Sprockets With The Great Steven M. Krug Jr.
- He is a singer/songwriter originally from Victorville, California, currently living in Rock Island, Illinois.
His songs run the gamut of styles of rock based music, but I primarily play in the sad slow arena.
He also plays guitar and sings in The Last Glimpse and plays bass and sings in Kronos Resistor, alternative rock and metal respectively! -
Steven and I got to geek out about Toad The Wet Sprocket and his own music as well!! Listen closely and learn something new.

The Fore "n" After Steve Luongo Talks Working with The Ox
Today we sit down through the interwebs with - Steve Luongo - Steve Luongo is an internationally recognized drummer, producer and songwriter who hails from Westchester, New York. His first band was Rat Race Choir. Steve was one of a small group of drummers using an expanded drum kit with multiple bass drums and other exotic percussion in the late 60s. By the mid 1970s he was using a prototype of the Moog Drum in his now famous extended drum solos. This was truly the dawn of electronic percussion and Luongo was an early pioneer. Steve’s career flourished when he began working with John Entwistle of The Who. The success of the John Entwistle Band allowed Steve to pursue his other artistic love abstract art. John and Steve attended art shows together. John had already enjoyed commercial success in the art world for his pen and ink caricatures of rock stars. It was John who showed Steve the ropes and as a result Steve enjoyed his own success when he began showing his art in 2008. Steve produced, performed, wrote and toured with The John Entwistle Band until John’s premature death at 57. At the request of The Who and John’s estate it was Steve that wrote and delivered the eulogy at John Entwistle’s memorial service in London. Steve also performed, produced or recorded with other well-known artists such as Leslie West/Mountain, Alan Parsons, Todd Rundgren, Heart’s Ann Wilson, Richie Blackmore, Joe Walsh, Billy Squier, Robin Zander Cheap of Trick, Brian Johnson & Cliff Williams of AC/DC, Jack Bruce of Cream, Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad, Dickey Betts of The Allman Bros., Rick Derringer, Buck Dharma of Blue Oyster Cult and others. In addition to composing soundtracks for films and TV, Steve also produces and directs music related films and artist videos with many titles to his credit. His proudest achievement as a filmmaker is the documentary film “An Ox’s Tale-The John Entwistle Story.” Luongo produced and directed the film for Icon Entertainment which features an extended conversation between Steve and Pete Townshend of The Who. Steve continues to perform live but these days his passion is his luxury menswear line. The line from Steve Luongo Designs uses Steve’s critically acclaimed abstract art to create a unique collection of premium limited edition numbered shirts. These shirts are produced in limited runs of 20. No two shirts are the same. They are each a unique artistic expression of Steve’s original ink and acrylic canvases. The shirt is named, signed and numbered in the same fashion as a limited edition artist print. The details are embroidered into the brands signature cobalt blue yoke. Steve Luongo Designs is staged to make its name in the limited-edition fashion market. Steve is currently working on a new live touring version of his successful video livestream. Rock & Roll Show ‘n’ Tell The Tour will feature rare archival footage from many of Steve’s past projects including Rat Race Choir & The Who’s John Entwistle along with stories, pictures and more. - Unlikely Places is brought to you by Robo Jack Records: https://robojackrecords.com/ —------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Unlikely Places Pop and Rock Radio: If you would like to support us and even more episodes follow us on Anchor; https://anchor.fm/unlikely-places-podcast Info and Link to The Weekly Radio Show on Mad Wasp: https://robojackrecords.com/unlikely-places-pop-rock-radio
We Discovered The Experimental Truth of Dallas Perkins
Charlie Overbey on Becoming His Own Story and Musician
Today we sit down through the interwebs with Charlie Overbey
- Charlie Overbey, but his songs are steeped in the timeless traditions of the American South. After years of touring the world supporting acts ranging from David Allan Coe and Blackberry Smoke to Social Distortion and Motorhead, Overbey slowly amassed a collection of introspective original songs that transcend the endless rock & roll party, taking a stark, undeniably honest look at some of life’s most gritty moments. -
After meeting Charlie in person at a Duane Betts show that he opened for, I was stunned and excited to know more about where all the passion and energy came from. This is that interview, listen close and learn something new!!

How Jeff Cotton Earned His Seat in Captain Beefhart's Infinity Throne Room
Today we sit down through the interwebs with Jeff Cotton of The Magic Band MU, the Exiles and more. Thank you Billy from Glass Onyon!
- Jeffrey Ralph Cotton (born May 31, 1948) is an American rock guitarist, known for his work as a member of Captain Beefheart's Magic Band.[1] Cotton first came to attention as guitarist with Merrell and the Exiles, who had a few local hits in 1964 in the Los Angeles area. He subsequently joined Blues in a Bottle, which also featured future Magic Band members Mark Boston, Bill Harkleroad and John French. He was recruited into the Magic Band in 1967 as a replacement for Ry Cooder. Cotton contributed unique and challenging slide guitar to live performances, Strictly Personal, Mirror Man and Trout Mask Replica; for which he was renamed Antennae Jimmy Semens. He left the Magic Band in 1970 after being attacked by temporary drummer Jeff Bruschell during a group "talk" and having ribs broken. But this was probably just the final straw, having experienced the reclusive 8 months of rehearsals for Trout Mask Replica during which Beefheart experimented on the group members with sleep deprivation, food deprivation, and physical violence in an attempt to break their mental state down. He renewed his professional relationship with Merrell Fankhauser (of The Exiles) in a band called MU.[2] Despite a critically acclaimed album there was no commercial success, and he retired from the music business in 1975. He is back now with a brand new solo album.- (Taken from Wiki)
What a pleasure talking with Jeff Cotton, i was stunned and shocked at the story he had. Listen closely and learn something new!

Rex and Christina of Big Stir Records - UPPRR Podcasts 019
Oh hey,
Today's podcast is brought to you by Robo Jack Records:
Rex and Christina of Big Stir Records, have appeared in the wilds of Unlikely Places!
BIG STIR RECORDS has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 2017 as a home imprint for the bands of the Los Angeles pop rock scene. The Burbank-based label, founded by Christina Bulbenko and Rex Broome of THE ARMOIRES, now lays claim to a roster of over 30 artists from as far afield as the UK, Sweden, Finland, Germany and coast to coast within the US, and a partnership with the acclaimed SpyderPop Records of Texas. BSR has issued more than 70 albums on vinyl and CD, all available on record store shelves in the US, UK and EU and streaming worldwide. With their focus on broadening the artistic parameters of the pop rock sound while retaining all the melodic hooks of the classic template, Big Stir has been hailed as as “the best thing to happen to the pop rock scene in ages, and long overdue” by Don Valentine of I DON'T HEAR A SINGLE in the UK, and recognized as Label of The Year by DJs from Sacramento to France.
The community ethos established by Bulbenko and Broome knits together the leading lights of today's global guitar pop universe – MAPLE MARS, CHRIS CHURCH, THE CORNER LAUGHERS, NICK FRATER, SPYGENIUS, PLASTICSOUL and more – with emerging artists like LIBRARIANS WITH HICKEYS, DOLPH CHANEY, THE BROTHERS STEVE, KAI DANZBERG, WALKER BRIGADE and AMOEBA TEEN. BSR is also now home to titans of the genre including SORROWS, TONY VALENTINO of The Standells, STEVE STOECKEL of The Spongetones, LANNIE FLOWERS of The Pengwins, legendary psych-rock troubadour ANTON BARBEAU, and THE FLASHCUBES. Christina and Rex see Big Stir as a creative playground for their artists to flourish in pushing the parameters of everything melodic rock and roll has been over the course of its rich history. The consistent critical accolades for their releases and the label's mantra “Pop Outside The Box” bear that out as a winning non-formula. The only thing you can expect from a Big Stir Records release is the unexpected, drawing from the full spectrum of the pop rock paradigm, but pushing it ever forward.
Plug in and learn something new!
