Ep. Final - The Last Parenting Chapter: Unqualified, Unscripted, and Unforgettable
We arrive at a bittersweet moment today, with our final episode of The Unqualified Parenting podcast.
Over the years, we have journeyed through the wonderful chaos of parenting together - unqualified, unscripted, and entirely real. As we turn the page on this last chapter, we dedicate this finale to each and every one of you.
Your comments, your emails, your voices became the soul of our show, transforming it into more than a podcast - a genuine community of people who shared laughter, tears, triumphs, and the occasional parenting fail. We often found ourselves unqualified, but never alone, thanks to you.
In this final episode, we’ll be catching up with each other and how the Summer has been shaping up, and giving heartfelt thanks to this extraordinary community we have been privileged to build and nurture.
Your contributions were invaluable. Every question posed, every perspective shared, every kind word sent our way meant the world to us. And although this chapter is closing, the memories we created here will continue to inspire and guide us - and we hope they do the same for you.
In the spirit of unqualified parenting, we sign off one last time, knowing that we may have been unqualified, but we were never alone, thanks to the supportive, engaging, and beautifully diverse community you helped us build.
Here's to the parenting journey - unscripted, unpredictable, but always worthwhile.
Until we meet again, keep growing, keep loving, and remember, there’s no such thing as a perfect parent.
Please join us for this memorable and emotional farewell episode. We are so thankful for you all!
-Jen and Cody

EP 77: Unqualified Q&As
Parenting comes with a lot of questions, and with all the research and studying we've done, we thought we'd take a crack at answering some of them. An important thing we noticed in some of these is how they were worded. If you have an important question to ask your partner, be sure to think about it before laying it out there. A poorly worded question can be taken defensively, or entirely wrong! It all comes down to communication. What works for some, may not work for you, and that's okay!

Guest Bio
Charla McKinley graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Finance. She went on to become a Certified Public Accountant with over 25 years working in both the corporate and private sectors. While homeschooling her two children, Charla was inspired to write an interactive personal finance curriculum that opens the student's eyes to the high costs of being an adult. After retiring from homeschooling, Charla continues to teach teens in Raleigh, NC and across the country using her Beyond Personal Finance curriculum.
Charla’s passion is teaching teens that their choices matter. She is a firm believer that in order to prepare teens for the road ahead they must be given the opportunity to practice making good (and not so good) choices using real dollars before they get out into the world and have real regrets.

Plus, Toddler Issues! Sometimes as parents we lose our way and get caught in cycles. We fall into traps and it's hard to climb back out of them even when you see it happening! This is why Jen was glad Cody had already gone through a lot of lying issues, because she saw what she had started doing was not the right approach, especially with a 3 year old! Plus, this podcast reminded her to not fight food battles! You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.
Even if you haven't run into these issues yet, it feels so good to be prepared when you do. The first time your kid lies to you can be a shock. Knowing some ways to handle the situation, and how not to, his so helpful!
