While this time saving tech may be a blessing, what are you putting time saved back into? For the large majority, it goes back into sitting in front of screens.
And our jobs are no exception also becoming increasingly sedentary. The scary truth is, we're moving less and sitting more and this impacts our health way more than we realize. So impactful in fact, that scientists have coined the term "sitting disease", and there is a clear correlation between prolonged sitting and health risks such as cancers, heart disease, and diabetes just to name a few.

Breaking 'Good vs Bad' Diet Culture Labels with Adrianne Delgado, R.D. | EP 36
You sit down at a restaurant and scan the menu, your mind picking apart every option and categorizing them; Good. Good. Bad. Good. Bad. Bad. “Salad? Good. Cheeseburger? Bad. Oh if I ask for that without bacon then it can be good. Ugh, I shouldn’t get that but it sounds delicious…I’ll order broccoli as my side instead of fries, that makes it better.”
And on and on the narrative goes until you finally order. If it falls into your idea of ‘good’, maybe it wasn’t what you really wanted and isn’t satisfying. If it’s your idea of ‘bad’, you eat, maybe overeat because you’re being bad anyways so why not? Then leave with a doggie bag of guilt and frustration at yourself because why can’t you ever just be “good”??
These labels we assign to foods and the resulting feelings of eating from our good vs bad lists is exhausting but it’s a cycle we can find ourselves stuck in for years, sometimes forever. We’ve done it for so long it becomes subconscious and a mindset we feel is impossible to break from or it’s just part of life.
How can we begin to break from this restrictive, unhealthy mindset that can feel like the very pressure of it is weighing you down?
My guest for this episode and woman with the answer is registered dietitian, Adrianne Delgado. Adrianne works with clients everyday and hears a lot of diet culture thoughts and mentality and we’re discussing how we can begin to take steps forward and create healthier relationships with food even when you’ve been stuck in the diet/diet culture cycle for years.
