Founder Meli Saavedra established Meli Cares, a healthcare company looking to help cancer patients and families connect to resources to improve their care and alleviate families' stress when dealing with hospitals. 

In this episode, meet the UpGrade Media Arts Schools' staff. Dr. Tequila Kurth is the founder and CEO of UpGrade Media Arts Schools. Chakeria Woods is the personalized instructional coach. She will be helping students with their personalized schedules and their college and career goals. Mwanje Thompson is the program lead. He will be teaching all of the media courses this year; and will be reaching out to potential community partners to enrich the learning experience. UpGrade Media Arts is a public school designed for students who are considering college or careers in the multimedia arts. We provide learning in a hybrid setting with a distinct focus in the areas of online film, online television, online radio, web podcasting, and the recording arts. Our students receive a curriculum that is personalized and developed based on their cultural experience, with an emphasis on equity and social justice.
