Episode 36: New Moon in Aquarius, The Star and Seven of Pentacles

Episode 36: New Moon in Aquarius, The Star and Seven of Pentacles

Celebrate New Moon Magick (there's a playlist for that), ripe with new beginnings. Ride the wave of an innovative spark thanks to this moon's placement in Aquarius, a sign celebrated for trailblazing and dreaming big for the benefit of the greater good. We dive into the symbolism of the Star card and celebrate its special place among the two cards that follow it in the Tarot: The Moon and The Sun. I reference a previous episode that highlights the Star card, and you're welcome to give it a listen: Episode 11. Full Moon in Aquarius: Licking Our Wounds In Leo Season

We reflect on our personal growth since the recent Full Moon in Cancer, and explore the symbolism of the Tarot card that literally jumped out during my shuffle: Seven of Pentacles, a card that encourages us to consider what we've built so far, and where we want to go with our efforts. Do we want to keep doing what we're doing, or are we ready to change things up?

My podcast videos are available on my YouTube channel, including my New and Full Moon series. Episode 33. Gemini Season: Don't Throw Shade on the 'Grade

Episode 33. Gemini Season: Don't Throw Shade on the 'Grade

Gemini season is here, sweet Friends. Here's a little mantra for us this season: "If you see something, say something." We've got Mercury in Gemini through June 22 and during that time, Mercury is retrograde from May 29 - June 21. As I mentioned in my blog post "Mercury in Gemini: Get Your Mind Right," this is an invitation to celebrate communication in all of its forms, and truly slow our role and benefit from the reflective energies of this retrograde season. It's also an important time to speak up about injustices in all their forms. In the spirit of "If you see something, say something," by all means, share the wealth about the good, juicy stuff and shout out great resources you admire. I am so pleased to give shout outs to peeps who have helped me grow and learn the intricacies inherent in deciphering astrology:

Jessica Lanyadoo of Ghost of a Podcast. Her recent interview with Tony Howard of Astrology University is outstanding and shines light on Mars out of bounds.

Renee Sills of Embodied Astrology. Her subscriber offerings are off the chain and by far, the best deal in town.

My beloved and wise astrology teacher Monte Farber of the Enchanted World. You can sign up for his online classes on Soultopia

Fellow Long Islander Colin Bedell of Queer Cosmos

We also explore The Lovers card in the Tarot in this episode and how we can lean on this card to help us make more life affirming choices. If you'd like to dig deeper into the Lovers card and how it associates with the sign of Gemini, listen to Episode 5. Gemini Season: The Lovers, The Dreamers and You and Me.

Getting something good out of this podcast? I'd so appreciate a five star review from you on your favorite listening platform and share it up with your friends.

Episode 32. Full Supermoon in Scorpio and Exploring Planetary Placements

Episode 32. Full Supermoon in Scorpio and Exploring Planetary Placements

Here's a little mini episode / experiment on the eve of this Pink Supermoon in Scorpio: we're exploring some of the current planetary placements and forecasting what these might feel like for us. Let's cast out our lines and check 'em out:

Pluto in Capricorn: 2008 - 2024 (Pluto retrograde from April 27 - October 6). Forecast: We'll be revisiting rules, restrictions and structures to see if they are truly working on both micro and macro levels

Mars in Cancer: April 23 - June 11. Expect quite a bit of velocity behind emotions (for better or for worse)

Mercury in Gemini: May 3 - June 22 (Retrograde from May 29 - June 21). While not in retrograde, innovative thinking and communication, with perhaps a splash of spunk thanks to trickster Mercury. While in retrograde, doubling down on revisiting all things mercurial: communication, thought patterns, linguistics, writing.

Venus in Gemini: May 8 - June 2. Comfort in communication, ease-filled thinking, smooth cognition.

Jupiter in Pisces: May 13 - July 28. Expansive intuition, big intuitive hits. A great time to learn a divination skill or polish one you already know and love. You might enjoy my free online Tarot class where we study the significance of the number five and the corresponding cards in the Tarot. Enroll for free!

Last but not least: The first Pink Full Supermoon of 2021 occurs in Scorpio on April 26: Big feelings, intensified emotions, perhaps uncovering areas of emotional wounding. Also the potential for extra sexy activity (thank you, Scorps!)

Let's monitor how my mini forecasts play out over these next several weeks. You are welcome to share your feedback in a message or by voicemail

Interested in exploring how the sign of Scorpio corresponds to the Death card in the Tarot? Listen to these episodes:

Episode 16: New Moon in Scorpio, Grief and Transformation

Episode 15: Scorpio Season, The Death Card and Full Moon in Taurus

My deepest gratitude to Pete Calgaro for creating my unique intro music that you'll hear at the beginning of this podcast. Episode 31. Taurus Season: Being in the Body, The Hierophant, and Examining Spiritual Bypass

Episode 31. Taurus Season: Being in the Body, The Hierophant, and Examining Spiritual Bypass

This is an anniversary episode of sorts to Episode 2 which kicked off my recording sessions during the advent of COVID19 in the Spring of 2020. I find myself reflecting on where I was mentally, emotionally and physically this time last year. Coming into Taurus season feels different this year: I have a year's worth of experience coping with all that COVID19 brought into my life. As an Earth sign, Taurus invites us into our bodies and to be present with the Earth itself. As the sun enters the sign of Taurus on April 19, and the planet Mercury (think: communication) will enter the sign of Taurus on this day as well, this Taurus season is an especially powerful time to reflect on how we relate to ourselves, our planet, our fellow sentient and non-sensient Earth mates, and how we might embody our outward and internal dialogue. We examine The Hierophant card as it relates to the sign of Taurus, and review ways we might better navigate any tendencies to engage in spiritually bypassing. Pictured in my episode art along with The Hierophant card from the Smith-Rider-Waite Tarot deck is the Spiritual Bypass card from Jordan Hope Miller's beautiful 33 Masters Oracle Deck. Here are a few words from Jordan's deck booklet describing the card:

"This card comes to you as a direct sign that you are using spirituality and its concepts to escape a reality that you created for yourself. The ego mind is capable of distorting knowledge, and in this case it is protecting you from a part of your journey that is Earthly. Being authentic and starting from where you are, and not from where you want to be will help you to become more present in your process of awareness."

I absolutely love this card and highly recommend Jordan's beautiful deck as a powerful tool to help you access deeper aspects of your psyche. Check out Jordan's deck and call one home for yourself. I included this card in the episode art as well as Jordan's words because I feel they so succinctly summarize the concept of spiritual bypassing. In bringing up spiritual bypass, by no means am I passing the buck. I've engaged in spiritual bypass as a way to cope with issues in my life that seemed unmanageable and overwhelming. I remedied spiritual bypass by working on issues in real time. While the work was difficult and in some cases heartbreaking, I needed to empower myself by taking responsibility, owning my choices and committing to making necessary changes. May this episode offer you relatable encouragement to solve challenges in practical ways. Taurus season is great medicine for helping us implement practical solutions to issues that otherwise might feel out of our reach.

I am most delighted and deeply grateful to have Pete Calgaro in my circle of Instagram friends as he created the intro music you hear in this episode especially for my podcast! Enjoy his beautiful music and offerings on Pete's website. Be sure to follow Pete on Instagram to catch his exquisite live pan hand drum guided meditations.

Episode 30. Aries Season, The Emperor and Full Moon in Libra: Relationships, Justice and Self Love

Episode 30. Aries Season, The Emperor and Full Moon in Libra: Relationships, Justice and Self Love

It's Aries Season! Our mantra for this season is "Coming into balanced, healthy and loving relationship with ourselves." Let's reflect on how we relate to ourselves in this episode through the wisdom of The Emperor card in the Tarot as the card associates with the zodiacal sign of Aries. Are you ready to break patterns of self judgement and embrace healthy identification with yourself? Can I get a big "Yes!" on that? We can strengthen our relationships as exemplified by the sign of Libra and its association with the Justice card in the Tarot. This week, we're experiencing a Full Moon in Libra on Sunday, March 28 2021, and particularly during Aries season, this is a powerful time to reflect on how we relate to ourselves as well as others. We also explore the teachings of Rachel Pollack and her book "Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom: A Tarot Journey to Self-Awareness." I've appreciated this book since it was introduced to me by Lindsay Mack on her podcast "Tarot for the Wild Soul." I touch on how the Emperor card relates to the Justice card and helps us transition our focus from ourselves and immediate circumstances on a micro level to the broader themes of connectivity and social responsibility on the macro level through The Justice card.

If you're enjoying this episode, you might also like Episode 14. Full Moon In Aries, Libra Season and Justice for All.

Episode 29. New Moon in Pisces: Meeting Challenges Like a Boss

We're in the final few days of Pisces season, Dreamy Ones. It's been a wild ride and I'm not sayin' it's been easy. As we experience this New Moon in Pisces, and with Mercury entering Pisces on Monday, March 15 (where it will float until April 3), I'm excited to continue exploring The Moon card in the Tarot, touch on The High Priestess as she also relates to the moon, and chat about making the most out of challenging situations. This month is the anniversary here in the Northern Hemisphere, and in the United States for sure, of the anniversary of COVID-19 becoming more prevalent in the news. I offer my condolences for all you've gone through this year, and offer space for us to grieve and reflect together.

Episode 27. Pisces and The Moon card: Werewolves Are People Too

Episode 27. Pisces and The Moon card: Werewolves Are People Too

Welcome, Seers! We've got quite the week ahead with six out of ten planets in the sign of Aquarius on February 11 and a New Moon as well. Buckle up, Buttercup, and give yourself plenty of time and space to process feelings and both external as well as internal shifts. We continue shifting and pivoting as the Sun moves from innovative, hands-in-all-the-pies Aquarius into the dreamy, deeply internal sign of Pisces on Feb. 18, and we take this opportunity to explore Pisces' corresponding Tarot card, The Moon. With feelings at the helm of this theme, we deep dive into relating to our emotional natures, our wild Selves (and, ahem, our repressed Selves) and our 12th house inclinations. Speaking of astrology, I'm taking a wonderful 12 week online course hosted by the incomparable Monte Farber, and if you'd like to sign up, there's still time and I'll see you there. In the meantime, if you're keen on checking out your birth chart, visit Cafe Astrology for your free natal chart.

Gotta love these last few days of forward-thinking, shake-up-the-status quo Aquarius, and if you'd like more juicy information on how Aquarius associates with The Star card in the Tarot, check out  'Episode 21: Moon in Aquarius: Your Healing Benefits The Greater Good," and 'Episode 11: Full Moon in Aquarius: Licking Our Wounds in Leo Season."

Episode 26. Poetry is Not Dead: Full Moon in Leo and Sharing our Passions

With the Full Moon in Leo, we are invited to roar forth with what makes our hearts sing. I've been writing poetry for decades, and in the wake of Ms. Amanda Gorman's outstanding read during our recent Presidential Inauguration, I thought I'd share my writing with you. No matter how nervous we might feel when expressing our selves and our art, it's so important to allow ourselves to feel seen and supported. Many of us do not share our art for fear of criticism, rejection and over-exposure. I share my poetry with you in the hopes to inspire you to feel safe and free to share your art as well, in whatever way feels right for you.

Leo is associated with The Sun card in the Tarot, and this card invites us to step fully into our Selves, regardless of the inevitability of being seen. Only when we step forth in authenticity, can we deeply reap the rewards of integrated living. Take a chance during the Full Moon in Leo and celebrate you. If you'd like more symbolism around The Sun card and Leo, listen to Episode 10: True Strength in Leo Season.

Episode 22. Siren Songs: Tarotscopes for each Zodiac Sign

I'm excited to kick off innovative Aquarius season with something that I've been dreaming up as a way to offer you oceans of depth for your soul. Siren Songs are my new monthly Tarot card pulls for each zodiac sign. This divinational love note supports your subconscious Self in ways our over-active logical minds simply cannot, and that disclaimer ironically and somewhat shockingly comes from moi, a Double Capricorn with Taurus Rising (Earth element on fleek here, people). Grab a cup of tea, cozy up and sip your song. The Siren Songs Tarot card pulls are drawn for Aquarius season from the gorgeous Moonchild Tarot by Danielle Noel. If you know your sun, moon and rising signs, check out the Siren Song for each. If you're not sure of your moon or rising sign, then your sun sign is fine. If you'd like me to take a peek at your natal chart and let you know where your moon and rising signs sit, leave me a message with your date, year, time and location of birth.

Episode 19. Total Solar Eclipse of My Heart: Capricorns Have Feelings, Too

In this minicast, we celebrate the last eclipse of 2020, and as the Sun enters the moon this evening at 10:35 p.m. EST, I felt compelled to give a shout out to my fellow [deep feeling] Capricorns. We're gaining ground toward Capricorn season when the Sun enters this sign on Dec. 21 (this date marks the Winter Solstice, too), so as the goal oriented double Cap that I am, I'm delighted to share that my IGTV series is live and we're going strong with amazing and informative guests. This past Tuesday, I welcomed Jordan Hope Miller, creator of the 33 Masters Oracle Deck (we had a lively giveaway of his deck, too). Jordan and I talked about transgender awareness, the art that flutters our hearts, and we even some cards for our viewers to address their burning oracle and Tarot questions. It was pure joy, and you can catch the replay. And this Tuesday, Dec. 15, I'll welcome Kristen Leigh, LCSW (@tarot.with.a.therapist) at 12:00 p.m. noon EST, followed by an interview at 7:00 p.m. with Courtney Lee Hall (@plantspirits) and we'll be giving away one of her handcrafted, small batch flower essences. Enter to win the giveaway of her beautifully supportive Red Columbine Flower Essence and her poetically written 14 page full color booklet, "Wild Messengers" which teaches all about her flower essences, through Dec. 17. Visit my Instagram page @urbansirencreative for all the details, and be sure to subscribe to my newsletter so you catch all the excitement in your inbox and don't miss a thing. Check out all my offerings (at least, I think I've captured them all, LOL!)

You can leave me your tarot message on Anchor.fm for a chance to have your question addressed on an upcoming episode. How cool is that?

Until next time, take good care of yourself, and sending you so much love. xox Diane

Episode 17. Hurts So Good: Sagittarius season, Temperance and Chiron

With the Sun entering Sagittarius, we dive into the adventurous nature of this sign. The Tarot card associated with it--Temperance--is fitting medicine to literally temper the impulsive nature of our darling and daring Sagittarius wanderers. Chiron, the Wounded Healer, is the famous  and beloved-among-the-Gods Centaur in Greek mythology who sustained an unfortunate and unintentional wound by his best friend, and suffered through immortality, unable to heal himself. We explore the nature of Chiron and how this tenacious and gracious energy can assist us with becoming familial with our own wounds.

Episode 15: Scorpio Season, The Death Card and Full Moon in Taurus

Transformation season is here and The Death card in the Tarot speaks to our connection with change as an ever-present element in our lives. In this episode, we dismantle fears around The Death card and how change can relate to change as being energizing and supportive. As we near Election Day in the United States, we explore how we're rooted into the very fabric of democracy and how the current Full Moon in Taurus supports our grounded nature with the reality of all that is.  We also explore The Hierophant card in the Tarot and how it invites us to connect directly to Source without a middleman. Enjoy the sounds of nature in this episode as I hike through the rain with my beloved Newfoundland dog while we're both smelling all the smells!

Episode 14 Bonus. Full Moon in Aries: Watch It With the Gloating

In light of the recent announcement that Donald Trump and his wife have contracted Coronavirus, herewith a teeny tiny mini-segment on the dangers of gloating and how tempted we are to do so during a full moon in Aries. Bravo to the class act that is Gov. Andrew Cuomo in light of this announcement. I am proud to be a New Yorker.

May all beings be happy, may all beings be healthy, may all beings be free from suffering.

Episode 14. Full Moon In Aries, Libra Season and Justice for All

Episode 14. Full Moon In Aries, Libra Season and Justice for All

We're in some powerful times, Friends. Election season is coming up, and remember that your voice counts. In this episode, we explore how Libra season can shake up old patterning of co-dependency, especially during this Full Moon in Aries. It's a good time to look at what's working and what is not in your relationships and take conscious, elemental steps toward positive change. We also dig into the Justice card in the Tarot as well as the Emperor card and how they, in combination, can empower you to take up mindful space with discernment and right action.

As I do so often, I recommend the book "Codependent No More" as an important addition to your library and wellness journey.

Episode 13. All Hail the Virgin Goddess: Essential Responsibility Vs. Elective Responsibility

Episode 13. All Hail the Virgin Goddess: Essential Responsibility Vs. Elective Responsibility

Learning from our recent full moon in Pisces this Virgo season, we delve into the mysteries of the Moon card in the Tarot as it relates to the sign of Pisces. We examine ways of moving forward during times of uncertainty, confusion and mystery. Virgo can keep us on a studious track of balancing social and personal responsibilities, and helps us discern between what is essential to take on, and what we choose to take on. I recorded this podcast a few days after the full moon and confess that as a double Capricorn, it's sometimes difficult for me to release the need to work, work, work, even at the risk of depleting myself of precious resources like my personal wellness. I extend my virtual hand to offer a "get out of jail free card" and encourage you to step back from what you've signed up for and to reflect on whether you're overstretching yourself for the sake of elective responsibilities. Feeling free to rest these days, I recorded this episode outside on my deck mid-afternoon. Forsaking some sound quality, please do enjoy the rustle of leaves and bird songs!

As promised in the podcast, you might enjoy the book "Goddesses in Everywoman: Powerful Archetypes in Women's Lives," by Jean Shinoda Bolen (available here on Abe Books). This modern classic helps us identify with the timeless archetypes offered up in the form of three Goddess types: virgin, vulnerable and alchemical. I read this insightful book more than 20 years ago and it still influences my self-awareness and helps me understand the reasoning behind my decision-making.

Episode 12. Virgo Season and The Hermit Card: Keeping Your Own Counsel

Episode 12. Virgo Season and The Hermit Card: Keeping Your Own Counsel

It's a wild pivot from Leo season into Virgo season. How refreshing to embrace at this time the accompanying tarot card for Virgo season: The Hermit. Getting quite politically outspoken these days, so buckle up Buttercup as we dive into the pitfalls of spiritual bypassing and wellness aggrandizing during pandemics (ahem) and the dangers of falling hard for charismatic leaders. We touch briefly on what it means to have Leo in one's south node (great podcast recently on the topic of nodes from Ghost of a Podcast).

Episode 11. Full Moon in Aquarius: Licking our Wounds in Leo Season

Episode 11. Full Moon in Aquarius: Licking our Wounds in Leo Season

The funny thing about this episode is that I recorded an entire first 30 minutes that did not process successfully, so I recorded a 2nd half of the podcast which I'm keeping as the entire episode this time around: a good lesson for me as I have Aquarius in my North node and Leo in my South node. I'm always striving to release my need for perfection and reduce my attachment to any investment in the outcome of my work! We explore the Star card in the Tarot and how it relates to healing from a balanced place that is connected to both earth and spirit, and we touch upon the dangerous natures of cult personalities, spiritual bypassing and narcissistic abuse. If you're interested in the topic of cult personalities as they relate to conspiracy thinking, I highly recommend the Conspirituality podcast.

Also mad props to astrologer and psychic Monte Farber for so eloquently explaining the tendencies of Leo to me in his summary that a "Leo has stage fright: they are terrified of NOT being on stage." Brilliant!

We talk also about codependency and I often recommend the book "Codependent No More" when the issue of codependency comes up in a tarot reading with my clients.

Episode 10: True Strength in Leo Season

Episode 10: True Strength in Leo Season

Truth-seeing is one of the greatest gifts we can allow ourselves to experience, as painful as the truth may be at times. Living through this COVID19 pandemic and subsequent economic crisis has tired many of us, beating us down and testing our faith. In this episode inspired by the book "Power vs Force" by Dr. David Hawkins, we explore Leo season and as the sign is ruled by the sun, we also take a look at the Sun card in the tarot, as well as the Strength card as it is ruled by Leo. Seeing the truth can be extremely challenging as it may conflict with our long-held beliefs. Let's feel empowered to utilize the powerful aspects of Leo season to face the truth and be active participants through our sacredly aligned sense of Self.

Episode 9: Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn: Own Your Sh+t & Slow Your Flow

Episode 9: Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn: Own Your Sh+t & Slow Your Flow

Deep breaths, my Friend! We're experiencing a lunar eclipse in the full moon of Capricorn on July 4, and given the strength of this structural energy, it's a good time to take your hands off the full-tilt wheel, be mindful of aggression in the atmosphere and how we might react to that, and come back to a place of centered perspective. We dissect the meaning of the Chariot card in the Tarot as it relates to our present Cancer season, and dive deep into complex Capricorn: a sign of both deep intellectual and emotional power. As a Capricorn Sun and Moon, I'm a big fan of knowing and owning what truly matters on a foundational level, and this is a good time to work with a trained and licensed mental wellness professional as emotions run high this Cancer season. As promised, here are several mental health resources to review should you feel called to do so:

Episode 8: You Can Go Your Own Way: The Chariot, Cancer Season and Summa Summa Summa Time

Episode 8: You Can Go Your Own Way: The Chariot, Cancer Season and Summa Summa Summa Time

We're moving into a powerful astrological season on June 20 into June 21 as we enter Cancer season on the Summer Solstice, with a New Moon in Cancer and a Solar Eclipse. Just some stuff! In this episode, we explore how the Chariot invites us into our center, encouraging us to find balance and create opportunity for positive potential. I touch on the past few weeks of upheaval and the revolts we're witnessing against systemic oppression. Our collective responsibility is to show up as best we can with intentions cast upon uplifting our brother and sisters and paving the way for long-overdue inclusivity. These past few weeks since #BlackOutTuesday and #AmplifyMelantedVoices on social media, I've subscribed to and connected with several BIPOC (black, indigenous and people of color) podcasters offering community-building tools and mental wellness support:

Episode 7: Strawberry Full Moon in Sagittarius: Temperance and Making Room for the Miraculous

Episode 7: Strawberry Full Moon in Sagittarius: Temperance and Making Room for the Miraculous

As we experience the Full Moon in Sagittarius, we explore how to balance our adventurous, rebellious nature with the ability to remain in balance with ourselves and everything around us. In these turbulent times when COVID19 remains a public health threat and voices long to be heard instead of silenced in the wake of racial and social injustices, now is the time to cultivate balance, self care and mindful action. It is a critical time to examine our relationship with extremist thoughts and behaviors. The Middle Path in Buddhism invites us to walk through life in a centered way, without allowing ourselves to be overcome by our desires or our aversions. We learn to relate to life from a place of focused attention and even-keeled discernment. We explore the harvesting potential of the Full Moon, and making conscious decisions about what kind of "fruit" we want harvest as a direct result of the seeds of intention we plant. Life is a cyclical experience, and we always have the opportunity to revisit the ways in which we conduct ourselves and the experiences we wish to cultivate in this lifetime. It's never too late to change and make positive improvements now to help direct us toward a more fulfilling future.

Wellness practices are so important, and I offer some suggestions on how to take care of yourself in these difficult times. Here are several resources to assist you on your mental health wellness journey:

Episode 6. Responding with Mindful Action: Waxing Half Moon in Virgo and The Hermit

Episode 6. Responding with Mindful Action: Waxing Half Moon in Virgo and The Hermit

In this mini episode and during Gemini season, we explore the energy of the Waxing Half Moon in Virgo and the significance of The Hermit card in the Tarot, encouraging us to engage in mindful and purposeful action. In the current COVID19 crisis, we're also experiencing significant violence and the tragedy of biased and unconscious action. In this episode, I speak about one of my heroes, Thich Nhat Hanh: Vietnamese Buddhist monk, poet, activist and positive social change agent, and his dedication to channeling powerful emotions for the greater good. We also discuss the difference between power and force, as highlighted in the book "Power vs Force: The Hidden Detriments of Human Behavior" by Dr. David Hawkins. Should you be interested in alternatives to Amazon.com, consider ordering it from your local bookstore and it is also available here on Abe Books.

Episode 5. Gemini Season: The Lovers, The Dreamers, and You and Me.

Episode 5. Gemini Season: The Lovers, The Dreamers, and You and Me.

Welcome to Urban Siren Podcast, where we explore mind, body and spirit through the lens of the Tarot. I'm Diane Ferraro, and I'm honored to be your host on this journey of self-discovery and interconnectedness. We enter the zodiac air sign of Gemini this week, along with a New Moon in Gemini on Friday, May 22. With Mercury as the ruling planet of Gemini, it's a perfect time to practice healthy communication that is inclusive and compassionate, especially during this COVID19 pandemic. In the first half of the podcast, we explore The Lovers card in the Tarot, and its symbolism around connectivity and being in relationship on a sacred level. In the second half, we delve into Mercury's theme of communication. We explore the importance of healthy boundaries with our news intake and by choosing what we absorb. We learn how to cope with the discomfort of this news-heavy time without sacrificing our peace or personal agency. Here are the resources I mention in this episode:

"Wear a Mask" Campaign in New York State (cast your vote!) https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/wear-mask-new-york-ad-contest-cast-your-vote

Black Moon Astrology Cards. I purchased mine from Maha Rose in Brooklyn, NY. In support of small businesses, you might wish to call them and see if they can ship them to you, or contact your local bookstore or metaphysical shop.

The Anthill Podcast. Part 5 is entitled "How dangerous are conspiracy theories?"

Episode 4. Goodnight, Supermoon....The Last Full Supermoon of 2020: Scorpio, Transformation and Grief

Episode 4. Goodnight, Supermoon....The Last Full Supermoon of 2020: Scorpio, Transformation and Grief

Welcome to Urban Siren Podcast, where we explore mind, body and spirit through the lens of the Tarot. I'm Diane Ferraro, and I'm honored to be your host on this journey of self-discovery and interconnectedness. As we experience the last full supermoon of 2020 in the astrological sign of Scorpio, and May's Flower Moon (the Old English word Rimilcemona, which I butchered on the podcast--oh my gosh, apologies!--is explained here), we explore our relationship to transformation, letting go, and rebirth. Moving through the process of the COVID19 pandemic, for many of us, feelings of grief are arising. We explore the five stages of grief, also known as the Kübler-Ross model, which are denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. These stages can arise in a cyclical nature, rather than a linear nature, and it is important to gift ourselves permission to have a meandering relationship with grief. We also explore the concept of shadow work in relation to personal growth and self awareness, and how shadow work can be a powerful tool to realign ourselves with our truest nature, while releasing shame, guilt and denial.

Tarot decks mentioned in the episode:

The Lightseer's Tarot

Moonchild Tarot

My big 'ole Newfoundland dog Baron has a bit to say on this podcast as well. You can hear him sporadically barking in the background (LOL!). Must be that full moon and his canine/wolf lineage.

Episode 3. May Day, May Day! Beltane, Enlightenment and more on The Hierophant

Episode 3. May Day, May Day! Beltane, Enlightenment and more on The Hierophant

Welcome to Urban Siren Podcast, where we explore mind, body and spirit through the lens of the Tarot. I'm Diane Ferraro, and I'm honored to be your host on this playful journey of self-discovery and interconnectedness. As we acknowledge the history of the Gaelic celebration of Beltane, we experience the mid-way point between Spring and Summer. It's a time for rebirth, rebuilding and growth on a collective level. In this episode, we continue to explore The Hierophant in the Tarot, and blend Beltane imagery to connect our own personal enlightenment with the coming of the light in the Natural world. As I mentioned in this episode, a wonderful resource to learn about traditional celebrations is through Danica Boyce's podcast, Fair Folk Podcast

Also mentioned in this episode is a clinical study between laughter and fertility featured in Healthland.Time.com, written by neuroscience journalist Maia Szalavitz, which you can read here

And, you can find the good work of Brian Clark, astrologer and teacher, right here. Thank you Astrology University for hosting the recent online live summit on Astrology and Relationships, where I had the great opportunity to listen to Brian's talk about "Love in the Time of Capricorn, " which was so profoundly informative and moving for me.

Episode 2. The Hierophant: Taurus Season and The Tarot During Covid19

Episode 2. The Hierophant: Taurus Season and The Tarot During Covid19

This episode was recorded during the Spring of 2020, several weeks into the worldwide COVID19 pandemic. Now in my fifth year of studying the Tarot, I've found it to be a profoundly helpful guide during times of elation, crisis, and everything in between. As we enter Taurus season, we explore the card associated with this astrological sign--The Hierophant--and delve into its symbolism and how it can help guide us alongside Nine of Swords and The Tower cards as layering components to The Hierophant to support us during this turbulent time. We also explore the ebb and flow patterns of the Tarot, helping us navigate and balance our mind, body and spirit through the cyclical nature of Life.

Much gratitude to organizations offering mental health support during the COVID19 crisis:

Headspace is offering a wide range of free COVID19 coping tools.

NYS Office of Mental Health offers specific services during COVID19 and an Emotional Support Hotline: 1-844-863-9314
