How We went foe hiking at Kajulu Hills
The challenge we Faced and how we over come
A return to Kajulu for a hike up the beautiful landscapes of rural Kisumu. Kajulu is just 20 kilometres or so from the city centre of Kisumu; we shall meet up at 6:15AM at United Mall (Tuskys) for the 30 minute drive to Gita, a small commercial centre just at the foot of the hills, where the hike begins.
Over time we have identified an ideal route for this hike and Gita presents at least a perfect start, since from here one gets to gradually ascend the smaller peaks to the highest peak that offers the dynamic view of Kisumu and Lake Victoria, and the rest of the hills stretching all the way to Nandi land.
An average time of 7 hours is enough to hike up and down this section of the Kajulu Hills (Nandi Hills as it is also known)
Essentials:
Sun protection (hats, sunscreen lotion, light sweater or jacket in case of change in weather)
Extra snacks and water.
Light first aid kit
Preferably trousers and long sleeve wears to protect the legs and arms from scratches.
Charges - Ksh. 950 per person
