Anthropogenic climate change and the role of higher education: A radical pedagogical implementation in France
How can we transform higher education in the Anthropocene era, that is to say our current geological time period where human activities impact extensively the Earth’s climate and eco-systems?
In this dialogue, Prof. of Education Frédérique Brossard Børhaug from VID in Norway interviews Prof. Cécile Renouard of Philosophy from France about the innovative experimentation of the Transition Campus (Campus de la Transition (campus-transition.org)), located 80 kms from Paris. As the president of this campus, Prof. Cécile Renouard reflects on the need to establish transformative strategies in higher education. During the conversation, she provides examples from the campus where trans-disciplinary knowledge and innovative pedagogical approach based on mind, heart and body are promoted. This unique implementation of a radical education (radix, relating to the roots) addresses the urgency and the complexity of man-made climate change.
