How Long is Too Long to Wait for an "Avatar" Sequel?

On Monday afternoon rumors began to grow that the first teaser trailer for James Cameron's long-awaited "Avatar 2" would be attached to "Doctor Strange & the Multiverse of Madness". The "Avatar" sequel is currently slated to open in December of this year, marking 13 years between the original and the sequel, with Cameron ambitiously planning sequels every other year from 2024 to 2028. Dustin shares his thoughts on the ambitious plan for the franchise and wonders if too much time has passed between the original and now for the sequel to be anywhere near as successful as the first, one of the top highest-grossing movies of all time. He runs through some of the changes that the box office has seen over the last 13 years as well as the mixed bag of results that come from waiting too long to make a sequel to a beloved movie.
