February 7, 2022 | What's Under My Headwrap | Simply Being
We are human Beings and not human doings.
Many of us have been conditioned to believe that we have to always be in motion to count ourselves as being productive, but the truth is that simply being is a powerful action that yields great results.
It takes time to unlearn things so be patient with yourself while you build your practice of learning how to simply be.
Thank You for Listening.

February 3, 2022 | What's Under My Headwrap | My Personal Experience with PTSD and The Storm of Confusion and Fear it Brings With It
Far too many of us are suffering in silence, but on this day I challenge you to give your pain a voice to begin your journey of releasing it from your body.
Trigger Warning. I speak about my experience hearing people talk about considering suicide as a way to end their pain during one of my group therapy sessions.

January 20, 2022 | What's Under My Headwrap | Alignment, Forgiveness and Gratitude as an Adult Who Was Abandoned By My Father as a Child - It's Possible to Find Peace
Alignment for me is connecting with those who came before me (living), my Ancestors and my Higher Power, and moving in the ease of being present in that space.
Ancestor Example: My father’s father was a muralist in Detroit. He’s also someone I never met and just recently learned his name.
I didn’t have to learn how to draw. I re-MEMBERed how to draw by allowing myself to connect with what’s already inside of me which is the blood of my father and my father’s father along with a host of others who did the work for me. Choosing to tap into that space gave me access to the gifts from them.
Trying to figure things out externally used to have me comparing myself to others and fearful of what people would say and think, which led to procrastination, stagnation and the pursuit of perfection.
These feelings still come up from time to time but with having and trusting the practice I’ve built for myself I know how to move through them.
Trying to find alignment means sitting in stillness and quiet. I’ve learned that pain isn’t the only thing present in that space. It is also filled with knowledge, love beyond comprehension, and my gifts.
I hope this message is met with understanding because this is and I’ve always promised to share what alignment looks like for me.
Sincerely,
Mesha Bazemore

"The way to win is to try." -Stacey Abrams
In this podcast I celebrate my win of trying to build a process and practice in podcasting.
The only way that I could show myself that I could do it is by trying.
I encourage you to try whatever it is that you want to do before you put yourself in timeout which can look like procrastination, stagnation and/ or the pursuit of perfection which in many cases is grounded in fear.
Be intentional about winning.

Choosing to live from a space of gratefulness can lead you to view your life through a telescope, while choosing to adopt negative habits like comparing yourself to others or simply believing that you don't belong in a space can cause you to view your life through a microscope.
A telescope allows you to see beyond what's in front of you. A microscope can magnify the negative feelings.
Choose to be intentional about being grateful and thankful for what you have and where you are to elevate into the space of where you want to be.

What's under my headwrap today? The word fear.
Nikki Giovanni said, “I really don’t think life is about the I-could-have-beens. Life is only about the I-tried-to-do. I don’t mind the failure, but I can’t imagine that I’d forgive myself if I didn’t try.”
Intellectually we understand that we have to move in our fear but we don't know how to put that into action. We struggle to truly understand what it means because we choose to nurture our fear by giving into it and doing nothing.
Let's talk about that.

Day 3 of What's Under My Headwrap
In this episode I talk about something that I heard TD Jakes say.
He said that sometimes the anxiety we feel isn't even our own.
His words inspired this talk about how I navigate the non-existent relationship with my father and still be in alignment with grace and gratitude, because mindset matters.
Take a listen. It'll make sense...I hope. :-)
