EP23. Managing Toxicity as a Highly Sensitive Person
Dealing with toxicity can be an uphill battle for Highly Sensitive People or anyone who identifies as an empath. In this week’s episode, Kaylin defines toxicity in both individuals and situations, which can allow “toxic empathy” to work overtime. She also gives an example of a toxic work environment from the very beginning of her career and tips that help her navigate toxicity. Although this subject can be viewed as negative in many regards, you can always learn more about yourself and how you respond to the chaos surrounding you.

EP22. Reawakening Your Authentic Self
Welcome back for Season 3! It has been a while since Kaylin has been behind the mic (9 months, to be exact). It’s a long time coming! In this season's debut episode, she talks about what she learned on her hiatus, including dismantling hustle culture, where to prioritize time and energy, the comforts of nostalgia, and more. Don’t miss the first solo episode of this new season after a very Hollywood-esque hiatus. Join us for more conversations about finding your authentic self, managing being an emotional sponge, and reawakening parts of yourself.

EP21. Following Your Heart (+ Your Mind & Gut) = Your Intuition
To borrow a lyric from Jewel in the early 2000s, this solo episode is all about intuition. One of the most powerful human experiences is having a gut feeling. Kaylin shares how intuition can shape authenticity, help to reach pivotal decisions, allow you to expand your comfort zone, her own therapy journey and aha moments, examples of gut feelings, how to harness the power of gut feelings, and more. IYKYK.

EP20. Neglecting Rest and the Dismay of an Imbalanced Life
For someone with an always-on personality with doses of perfectionism and workaholism, it can be challenging to step away from the hustle and bustle to just… rest. After all, there’s always a deadline, a bill to pay, a project to complete, a chore to do… In this week’s solo episode, Kaylin divulges her kryptonite (well, one of them): not allowing herself to truly rest and relax. It’s a fear-based notion that many of us struggle with. The episode sheds light on how an imbalanced life can lead to burnout, overstimulation, physical ailments, and more. Kaylin doesn’t have it all figured out, but the first step is always awareness. 💫 Implementation and consistency are hard but well worth it to establish boundaries with yourself, push the reset button, and contribute to your overall happiness.

EP19. Accepting Change and The Circle of Life’s Seasons
Change is the only constant in life. In this week’s episode, Kaylin gets behind the mic to discuss change. Accepting change can be challenging, especially for those of us who aren’t naturally spontaneous, become overstimulated easily, and allow fear to seep into our daily lives. Kaylin talks about some changes she’s experienced, how she has reacted to them, and some steps you can take to accept change in your own life. (It’s a nonlinear, lifelong process.) We hope you enjoy this episode, initially created on the Notes app on a cruise ship and fine-tuned in the Hourglass headquarters.

EP15. The Birth of My Perfectionism
In this week’s solo episode, Kaylin talks about when her perfectionistic (and thus, anxious) tendencies started, which was when she was three years old. She also talks about adjectives that she would describe that little girl version of herself while also talking about perfectionism in general. It can manifest in so many different ways, and using tools, such as Perfectionism in Perspective, can really help you iron out all of the details and overarching themes of your own perfectionistic tendencies and unrelenting high standards.

EP12. Unfurling A New Season in Your Life with Crosby Noricks
This week, Kaylin sits down with Crosby Noricks, a leadership coach and guide who uses somatic practices in her work. You may know Crosby from her 15 years at PR Couture, but she recently sold her company to Jeneration PR and is doing a 180 from her former life as the only one at the helm of PR Couture. In this next act, she aims to unlock the full human experience by using what she has learned and discovering new things along the way. There are so many nuggets of inspiration and insight in this episode, including external and internal expectations, the inspiration behind PR Couture, how to know when it’s time to step away from a career path, selling her company, how she shifted from having a company to going back to a “regular” job, figuring out who you actually are, discovering your hobbies, somatics and embodiment, her new Unfurl with Me endeavor, committing to consistent practices, and much more.

EP11: Tales from a Sensation Seeker
In this week’s solo episode, Kaylin reveals what it’s like to be a Highly Sensitive Person who is also sensation-seeking. It can seem like an oxymoron to be an HSP and to seek sensations at the same time, BUT it’s 100% possible and relatable. We get into the reasons for seeking sensations, as well as some characteristics, examples, and more.

EP9. Bringing All Types of Grief To Light
It’s no secret that grief can change the trajectory of your life. In this week’s episode, Kaylin talks about how grief has affected her own life, from experiencing two miscarriages and losing several loved ones to what it feels like to grieve the loss of a career you think you wanted and your perceived sense of self. We’ll also touch on collective grief and how it impacts our conscious and unconscious minds. (Grief manifests in many more ways, too.) There are some tears in this episode – and it wasn’t easy to get through. But, it’s comforting to bring these stories and emotions to light.
Trigger warning: Grief can be challenging to work through – and listen to in someone else’s podcast. Some stories in this podcast may be challenging if you have the same or a similar grief experience.

EP8. Transforming The Way We Talk About Death + Grief with Spiritfarer's Nicolas Guérin
“Everyone that we’ve had contact with still lives in us.” While Spiritfarer is a “cozy management game about dying,” it is much more than it appears on the surface. Underneath its multitude of layers lies an experience that has the power to change perspectives and the way we view video games as an art form. Kaylin talks with Spiritfarer’s and Thunder Lotus Games’ Creative Director Nicolas Guérin about the rationale and inspiration behind this life-changing game. With more than one million downloads, it’s transforming the ways players look at death and how we view video games in general. We talk about how to become more comfortable with uncomfortable topics, like death and grief, as well as character development, our own grief journeys, managing your mental health when working on a game like this, and so much more.

EP7. Traits of A Highly Sensitive Person + Reframing Your Internal Narratives
In this solo episode, Kaylin digs a bit deeper into what it means to be a Highly Sensitive Person by shining a spotlight on five HSP traits, as outlined in Dr. Elaine Aron’s Are You Highly Sensitive? Self-Assessment. She gives examples of how her own positive and negative attributes weave in and out of each trait, as well as remedies and ways to reframe the negative thought patterns in your daily life. We can begin to see our sensitivity as a strength and not a weakness.

EP6. Supporting Yourself & Others During Pregnancy Loss with Arden Cartrette/The Miscarriage Doula
In the sixth episode of Wholeheartedly, Kaylin a fruitful and honest conversation with Arden Cartrette, The Miscarriage Doula. We chat about a whole host of things, including: her own loss story, why she wanted to start The Miscarriage Doula & Co., supporting people through pregnancy loss, mental health, stigmas, toxic positivity, how partners grieve, managing your mental health as an empath in a helping profession, parenting a rainbow baby, and more. At the end of the day, all of us are human, and it’s OK to grieve and honor how you feel at any given moment.
[*Trigger Warning: This episode centers on pregnancy and infant loss. Also, if you’re listening to this episode, Arden’s son can be heard playing in the background at certain points. A note from Kaylin: This episode is dedicated to anyone who has ever experienced a pregnancy or infant loss, as well as the child(ren) you lost. ❤️ This episode is also in remembrance of my first little angel who changed the trajectory of my life three years ago on 6.4.19 and the second one on 4.20.21. ❤️ My heart and prayers are also with the loved ones of everyone lost at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

In this episode, Kaylin dives into the deep waters of change as she recalibrates her career, company, and overall purpose. It can feel like you’re walking on a tightrope when you start to question your purpose and accept change while trying to navigate and maintain everyday life. In this bonus episode, Kaylin talks about how nostalgia and sentimentality fit into being an emotional sponge. It has also been a whole decade (!) since she first visited Paris. So, step into the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia – although the word’s origin story isn’t what you would expect – as she talks more about The City of Light and her own nostalgic tendencies.
