It is collaborative podcast channel of more than 20 Institutes of Environmental Governance which aimed to provide educational trivia and important facts about biodiversity conservation and wildlife protection, an excellent learning aid for teachers and students!

Tubbataha Reef

Tubbataha Reef

Tubbataha Reef is known for its extraordinary biodiversity, abundant marine life, and breathtaking drop-offs into the open ocean. Tubbataha Reef was discovered by divers in the late 1970s. The area covers 130,028 hectares of high-quality marine habitats containing three atolls and a large area of the deep sea. Tubbataha is home to 374 species of coral and almost 500 species of fish.

A mangrove is a shrub or tree that grows in coastal saline or brackish water. The term is also used for tropical coastal vegetation consisting of such species. Endemic to the island, Palawan Peacock-Pheasant is smaller to others of the same species but has the most interesting color combinations than them. Palawan Stink Badger (Mydaus marchei)

Palawan Stink Badger (Mydaus marchei) or commonly known as ‘pantot’ is endemic to Palawan. They are territorial animals which use scent glands to mark their paths, thus, the name. They are important species for soil aeration but are now considered as a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). In Season 1, we talked about ecosystems and featured a lot of wildlife species. We learned not only their unique characteristics and habits but also their decreasing habitats and threats from human activities. We were also given tips on how we can conserve and protect them. For the second season, we will share more information about endemic, endangered, threatened or vulnerable wildlife in the country, hoping to encourage everyone to join our journey towards sustainable management of natural resources... because Wildlife Philippines is not just your podcast, it’s not just your educational resource.

Way before human existence, rodents are mammals that have been roaming the earth for 66 million years. Endemic only in the island of Luzon, Northern Luzon Giant Cloud Rat is primarily found in tree branches of the sky islands of northern and central part of Luzon.
