Will This Be On The Test?Sep 25, 2019
Episode 22: Platypus and Cholera
This week we learn about the bizarre world of the Duck Billed Platypus and how infuriating it is to Mattie, and how gross London was and how poop was everywhere and got so many people sick. We also went on a pretty epic Stranger Things tangent that is going to get us that Netflix sponsorship for sure.
Episode 21: Black History Month! Black Cowboys, Bass Reeves, and Fannie Lou Hamer
This episode Mattie and Austin talk about How the west was white washed, yet another lawman who wore kooky disguises, and the Goddamned hero that we never heard about Fannie Lou Hamer. We also discuss a large football game that we can not name out of fear of copyright infractions and how our hometown went a little insane. follow us on all social media @onthetestpod
Episode 20: How Shakespeare Stole a Theatre and The Bizarreness of Greek Philosophers

Episode 17: The Jonestown Massacre and Martin Luther
Well, firstly, it's because it wasn't Kool-Aid. It was the even better Flavor Aid. And grape. The best flavor of all.
The Jonestown Massacre goes all the way to the top, with high-ranking political figures being all buddy-buddy with Jim Jones. Even some true heroes of American history were his friends. I have a feeling THAT won't be in your textbooks!
We also talk about Martin Luther. Not MLK. The other guy. Except his name wasn't really Martin Luther. And he wrote theses...but did he actually believe them? And was there any nailing onto doors or anywhere else? And was it all worth the continuing rivalry Austin insists exists between Catholics and Lutherans?
Austin: THERE WAS A WAR ABOUT THIS!
Mattie: CONTINUING!?
Find out this week, when we discuss The Jonestown Massacre and OG Martin Luther.

Episode 16: Prohibition and The Mona Lisa
Obviously, we also review the movie Cats. We aren't going to post a spoiler alert. That movie cannot be spoiled anymore than it already did to itself.

Episode 15: The Comics Code Authority and The Bystander Effect
This week, Austin talks about the Comics Code Authority, which censored comic books for over 50 years, and Mattie talks about the bystander effect, a psychological phenomenon discovered after the murder of Kitty Genovese. (P.S. The Kitty Genovese story is full of LIES!) Did you ever wonder why comic books are considered "for kids?" Do you ever look around and think "why isn't anyone doing anything to help?" in a time of crisis? This week's episode explains it all!

Episode 13: The Soviet Space Program and The June Rebellion (or, What Really Happened in Les Miserables)
Austin talks about the Soviet Space Program and insists no one saw aliens. Mattie tells the real story of the battle in Les Miserables, which was decidedly NOT the French Revolution. Somehow Ross Geller comes up again, and we provide some tried-and-true advice for how to successfully start a rebellion.

Episode 12: Christa McAuliffe and The Burr Conspiracy
In this week's episode, Mattie tells the real story of Christa McAuliffe and Austin lightens things up (?) by talking about The Burr Conspiracy. Yes, that Burr. He is always up to something! We both got knocked down by the stomach flu this past weekend, so this is an episode we recorded when we were still testing things out. It's a bit different from the norm. Enjoy!

Episode 10: The History of Thanksgiving and Black Friday
On this episode, Austin talks about the horrible true story of Thanksgiving, while Mattie visits the truly messed up history of Black Friday. The through-line of the episode is hey, stop being jerks, everyone. Dinosaurs don't show up in this episode, but we do mention Rush Limbaugh, so basically the same.

Episode 9: Tituba the Forgotten Genius and the Radium Girls aka the Worst Story Ever
Somehow, the witch trials is the less depressing story this week. Mattie covers the story of Tituba, who you may remember from reading/Sparknoting The Crucible in high school English, and how we were grossly misled about how much of a baller she was. Austin discusses the Radium Girls, our first listener suggestion (from Pliny the Elder himself!). It is the worst story ever and you should definitely listen to it. Overall, a week of badass women, weak-ass men, and the horrible things humanity does to itself. Huzzah! Oh, and for some reason, dinosaurs come up again. Always.

Episode 8: Rollo the Walker and Dolley Madison the Party Animal
This week, Austin talks about Rollo the Walker, a viking who took over a massive part of France. Mattie discusses Dolley Madison, who is most famous for things she might not have done, but undervalued for the way she shaped America. We also talk about why the vikings should have invaded St. Louis and how dinosaurs were invented.

Episode 7: Impeachment and The Collyer Brothers
What the heck is impeachment? You can learn this week on Will This Be On The Test?! Well...kind of. Impeachment is...it just is. You'll need to listen.
We also talk about the Collyer brothers' nightmare hoarder house in Harlem, NY.
And you'll learn exactly how much Austin loves Taylor Swift and the time Mattie saw Steven Tyler throw a hissy fit. Something for everyone this week!

Episode 6: Halloween! Harry Houdini, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Poisoned Halloween Candy
In celebration of our favorite holiday, Halloween, we bring you a themed episode! Austin discusses the friendship, rivalry, possible murder plot, and the supernatural beliefs of Harry Houdini and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Mattie also goes into true crime we mislearned in school with poisoned or otherwise tampered-with Halloween candy. We also apologize for saying Mozart was one of the greatest musicians of all time. We now see that it is truly Kanye West.

Episode 5: Left Brain Right Brain and Mozart
On this episode, Mattie delves into mislearned psychology with a discussion of Left Brain and Right Brain, and Austin talks about Mozart's love of butts. Or hatred of butts? It's hard to tell. Either way, this episode is not for the faint of heart!
It also turns out that Austin doesn't really know 90's boybands, so Mattie had to kill him, and now you have to listen to a ghost.
Will This Be On the Test? is all about the topics we didn't quite learn in school, and we're excited to share this information with you! Also, if you are an *NSync fan, you are correct.

Episode 4: Hispanic Heritage Month: Cesar Chavez and Mendez v Westminster
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we talk about Cesar Chavez and Mendez v Westminster. Chavez got the Karens to stop buying grapes! Children proved adults wrong! We give Lin-Manuel Miranda an idea for his next musical! And our cats, our dear cats, need to stop interrupting us.
Will This be on the Test? is a podcast where we try to learn things we didn't learn in school. Neither of us was lucky enough to learn very much about Hispanic or Latinx history during our K-12 years. This was enlightening, infuriating, and inspiring. We strive to know more than we know now, and we try to not pretend we know more than we do. We hope you learn something, too.

Episode 2: Marie Curie and The Federal Theatre Project
Marie Curie moved women and radioactive substances into the forefront of science. The Federal Theatre Project was an oft-forgotten part of the WPA and New Deal. Chrissy Teigen makes both hosts feel inadequate. Learn more about all of these things on this week's episode of Will This Be On The Test?, a show about the things we didn't learn about in school!
