S is for Stars - Falling Stars and Constellation Divination

Welcome Witches to Witchcraft from A to Z, your go-to witchy podcast for finding the magic hidden among the mundane! My name is Elaine Evergreen, a practicing witch of over 15 years now and I'll be your host this week. I hope you all had a beautiful and cozy Yule and that your New Year has started off auspiciously. Thank you all for your continued support while I took a little break to relax after my wedding, celebrate my birthday, and enjoy the holiday festivities with my family and loved ones.

Now that I’m back from my little holiday hiatus, lets talk about stars and using them in your magical practice.

The stars have guided humans of all cultures throughout their time on earth. We’ve all heard people joke about mercury being in retrograde and it negatively impacting our lives. But the stars can do more than that. Some believe that the stars can tell you about your future, predict the personality of a child, predict the rule or end of the reign of kings and queens, and it can tell you where you are in the world. Sometimes they fall, granting you wishes if you’re so lucky to see it. So this week's episode is all about how you can use stars in your magical practice.

Q is for Queer Witchcraft - Empowerment and Community

Welcome Witches to Witchcraft from A to Z, your go-to witchy podcast for finding the magic hidden among the mundane! My name is Elaine Evergreen, a practicing witch of over 15 years now and I'll be your host this week.

This episode is all about the aspects of witchcraft that many of us are attracted to and how it all intersects with the LGBTQ+ community.

Now, one thing about the witchcraft community that I, and many others, have noticed a long while ago is the heavy representation of the LGBTQ+ community in the witchcraft community. In fact, a Pew Research Center study in 2015 found that twice as many queer adults say they identify as a member of a non-christian faith group such as paganism than the general population. It seems that when many organized religions and cultures around the world take away power from and discredit people they deem less than or other, those very same people gravitate towards communities that uplift, empower, and embrace those who don’t fit the status quo. Enter - the witchcraft, pagan, and alternative spirituality communities.Support this Podcast:

Welcome Witches to Witchcraft from A to Z, your go-to witchy podcast for finding the magic hidden among the mundane! My name is Elaine Evergreen, a practicing witch of over 15 years now and I'll be your host this week.

Since it is the first week of October and we happened upon the letter P for this week’s episode, I could not pass up the opportunity to cover Pumpkins as a magical tool. This is the time of year where Florida is finally getting a taste of cooler weather and I can actually open the windows, or spend any amount of time outside without risk of heat stroke, so needless to say I am very excited. Pumpkins are always the first thing I pick up once the weather starts to cool as they double as adorable decorations, edible goodies, and magical tools. Pumpkins are associated with wishes, abundance, fertility, love, protection, banishing, prosperity, creativity, growth, harvest, home, the element water, and many lunar and Celtic deities. So get your pumpkin carving kits out and let’s make some magic.

Welcome Witches to Witchcraft from A to Z, your go-to witchy podcast for finding the magic hidden among the mundane! My name is Elaine Evergreen, a practicing witch of over 15 years now and I'll be your host this week. This episode is all about milk and how you can incorporate this creamy beverage into your magical makings!

Milk is deeply connected with life itself. It is the first food of humans and other mammals. It was and still is a staple and a lifeline of nutritious calorie dense sustenance in many cultures. And it has been revered enough by humans to be a food of the gods, frequently given as gifts of devotion and worship. Milk has also been a symbol of power and love throughout history, and even milk that has been turned into butter or cheese has power as can be seen through the internet famous image of a page in a book about spells, charms, and incantations which states “you may fascinate a woman by giving her a piece of cheese.”

J is for Juniper Berries - Fertility Charms and Protections from Harm

Welcome Witches to Witchcraft from A to Z, your go-to witchy podcast for finding the magic hidden among the mundane! My name is Elaine Evergreen, a practicing witch of over 15 years now and I'll be your host this week. This episode is all about juniper berries and how you can incorporate these ancient berries into your magical practice!

Happy Lammas or Lughnasadh everyone!

Juniper berries are not really something that is used much anymore, however, if you’re a fan of the Skyrim series you may have heard a quote or two about juniper berries being used in mead. Juniper berries, which are not actually berries, are the seed cones from the Juniper plant, are used as a spice in cooking. Magically, juniper berries have been used throughout Europe as incense, hung on doors to protect homes, burned during exorcisms, worn for protection, used in love spells, and used to break curses and hexes.

Crystals have been used for healing, divination, siphoning, charm work, spell bags, talismans, and more. Another is that there are so many different crystals on this planet that you can always find one that works best with you and with your practice.

Welcome Witches to Witchcraft from A to Z, your go-to witchy podcast for finding the magic hidden among the mundane! My name is Elaine Evergreen, a practicing witch of over 15 years now and I'll be your host this week. This episode is all about walnuts and how you can incorporate this common tree nut into your magical practice!

Walnuts have been used, traded, eaten, and revered by humans for at least 7 thousand years. Used for barter by the Persians and Phoenicians, revered by the Greeks in dedication of the goddess Diana, and renowned by the Romans for its health benefits. Walnuts are even referenced in the bible when referring to King Solomon’s garden. Though there is not record that shows exactly when walnuts came to make its place in human history, the records that are written show that it was valued highly, consumed by nobility with dessert in Rome, and that under its trees feasts were held in honor of gods and goddesses.

This week’s episode is all about working with the universe to manifest what you need in your magical practice! Now I’m sure we have all heard of manifestation or the Laws of Attraction either through TikTok, YouTube, or some other social media or content sharing site. The whole putting your intention out into the Universe with the expectation that the Universe will reward you with what you need by utilizing the energy you gave to it kind of thing. “Manifesting” is essentially willing what you want into existence.

T is for Thyme - Gardening for Wealth and Prosperity

Welcome Witches to Witchcraft from A to Z, your go-to witchy podcast for finding the magic hidden among the mundane! My name is Elaine Evergreen, a practicing witch of over 15 years now and I'll be your host this week. This episode is all about Thyme and its uses and significance in witchcraft!

Thyme is a sun-loving, aromatic, and pretty old herb where you can find text about dating back to the Roman era and which was most likely used well before the time of the ancient Greeks. In fact, the word ‘Thyme’ derives from the Greek word Thymos which means “to fumigate”. Thyme is not only a delicious herb for seasoning meats and vegetables, but is also an antiseptic, deodorizer, and antifungal.

Historically, it was used as a medicine, a food preservative, a charm of bravery, a safeguard against poisoning, an incense burned during sacred rites, an antiseptic, a perfume, and a body oil.

Celebrating Imbolc with a House Cleansing Ritual

Welcome Witches to Witchcraft from A to Z, your go-to witchy podcast for finding the magic hidden among the mundane! My name is Elaine Evergreen, a practicing witch of over 15 years now and I'll be your host this week. As tomorrow, February 1st, is the official start of Imbolc, this week’s episode is all about Imbolc and its celebrations and traditions.

One of the eight sabbaths for modern Wiccans and a holiday celebrated by multiple faiths, Imbolc (meaning “in the belly”) is a pagan holiday traditionally celebrated in Neolithic Ireland and Scotland that starts at sundown on February 1st and ends at sundown on February 2nd which marks the midway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. Its a wonderful reminder that Spring is coming soon and winter is over in just a few weeks. Imbolc dates way back to the Pre-Christian era of the British Isles and its earliest mention can be found in Irish literature from the 10th century and was connected to the breeding cycle of sheep as it is typically around when the sheep’s milk starts.

O is for Oil - Creating Your Own Anointing Oil

Welcome Witches to Witchcraft from A to Z, your go-to witchy podcast for finding the magic hidden among the mundane! My name is Elaine Evergreen, a practicing witch of over 15 years now and I'll be your host this week. This week’s episode is all about oil and its uses and significance in witchcraft!

Although I can’t quite find the exact time frame when oils first started appearing in the toolboxes of those practicing rituals for one religion or another, there are references of different kinds of anointing oils being used in rituals going back as far as 300-600 A.D. These oils were and still are used during rituals of the Christian and Jewish religions. As we look specifically for oils in witchcraft, we are brought to information on Abramelin Oil. This oil, was also the inspiration of Aleister Crowley’s early 20th century essential oil based “Oil of Abramelin” which was also called the “Holy Oil of Aspiration”. Which starts the common trend in anointing and dressing oils in modern witchcraft.

The great thing about money is that even if it's just a single penny or the equivalent, everyone has access to it and that money has power and value in both society and magic that you can utilize. So start collecting that coin and let's make some magic.

Samhain marks the end of harvest and the beginning of the darkening of each day as winter creeps in and is believed to be the day the veil between the realms of the living and the dead lift. Crafting a spell can be as easy as foraging around in your yard. From dandelions to rose petals, flowers are not only beautiful but they are powerful too. A flower can be healing or it can be deadly. Choosing flowers based on their medicinal purposes, their color, and their region is a great way to gather completely free (and biodegradable) tools to add to your witchy tool belt.

Welcome Witches to Witchcraft from A to Z, your go-to witchy podcast for finding the magic hidden among the mundane! My name is Elaine Evergreen, a practicing witch of over 15 years now and I'll be your host this week.

Think hair ties, rubber bands, and stretchy clothes, there's not a household around that does not have some sort of elastic available. It can be found in your bathroom, bedroom, and your kitchen. And most of the time you can get some sort of elastics completely free. So let's lay out everything we know about elastic and expand our minds by coming up with creative ways to utilize this unassuming item in our practices.

Besides, what's better than the sweet gratification of someone getting what they've deserved after hurting another?

B is for Brushes and Brooms - How Witches Took Flight!

Today's topic will be a double feature of brushes and brooms, just because I got started on brushes and then had the overwhelming urge to talk about brooms in witchcraft because well, that's a really fun one. Basically the history of witches cannot be told without talking about sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll!

A is for Apple - Lessons From Snow White and Celebrating Lughnasadh

Welcome witches to the first episode of Witchcraft from A to Z and Blessed Lughnasadh or Lammas to all who celebrate it! For our very first episode I'm going to cover an easy one that most people should have access to for a relatively low price. Today's ingredient slash tool of choice for A is Apples! and perfect timing too to celebrate Lughnasadh. I know, at least where I'm located in the US, apples are the second least expensive fruit in grocery stores and markets, so theyre quite accessible here. If you enjoy this episode or you know someone who would, don't forget to subscribe to this podcast and share it.

Today's episode includes chats about the myths and legends around apples, the properties of apples, ways to use apples in your practice, as well as, some information of the important holiday celebrated on August 1st in the Northern Hemisphere, Lughnasadh.
