From Concept to Product: How COVRY Is Changing the Game With Their Inclusive Eyewear

In our conversation, we chat about:
- How they identified and confirmed a need in the market (even though some told them their market would be too small)
- What goes into creating a product-based business? The journey from concept to actually launching product, plus some surprises along the way
- How they launched their Kickstarter campaign and the one thing that helped them make it a success and surpass their fundraising goal

10 Email Hacks + Mental Shifts About Your Inbox That Will Change Your Life & Productivity
62: I'm doing a solo episode today and sharing 10 tips, hacks, and mental shifts I've made when it comes to how I manage email and my relationship with my inbox. I have FINALLY gotten to a good place with how I manage my inbox and the amount of time I spend on emails, and these hacks have helped me tremendously. They're strategies and shifts I've tried over the years that have all led me to being able to release the weight of emails and its pings and dings, while still effectively using it for my business (because let's be honest, I'm never going to be like Christopher Nolan who reportedly doesn't use email. Like, at all.). In this episode, I get into:
- Two mindset shifts I've made when it comes to inbox management and email response time that completely changed how I manage my time
- The email tool that I'm absolutely obsessed with that empowers me to screen people in or out of my inbox with one click, forever
- My favorite hacks that save me time like filters, specific settings, separate inboxes, and shortcuts
- Why you need to turn your email notifications off on your phone, now

Turning Lemons into Lemonade: Erika Altes' Journey from Business/Friendship Breakup to Blogging Success
61: We're chatting with Erika Altes from @whiskeyandlace about her brand's origin story—and the difficulties of losing a close friend in the process. I think we can all relate to going through a friendship breakup, but it's not something that's openly talked about and feels a bit taboo. Erika gets super open and vulnerable with us and shares:
- Whiskey and Lace's brand story, how her business partner and friendship breakup happened, and how she was eventually able to grow from it
- How she turned the brand from something that wasn't profitable into Whiskey and Lace 2.0, and a thriving business
- How Erika finally got closure on the loss of her friendship 8 years later (and all the coincidences that led to it—this part of the convo gave me literal chills!)
- How Erika has used her influence for good by supporting local businesses and raising $50k to feed firefighters during the Glass Fire

#56: I'm back with my annual income report, this time sharing all the numbers of my business' finances from 2022. This past year, many influencers saw a sharp decline in sponsored brand campaigns. And while my business did bring in less revenue than in 2021, I'm ok with it! 2022 was a year of building for me, and even though my brand campaign revenue decreased by $113k (!!) I was able to grow other revenue streams and build one entirely new one in 2022 to help restore some balance to my business' finances.
Curious how a content creator can make multiple six figures? Listen in, as I get into:
- An in-depth breakdown of my business' profit, different revenue streams, and expenses
- Reflections and lessons learned from last year
- Revenue goals for 2023, which streams I'm planning on scaling, and how

Why You Should Try Deleting Instagram From Your Phone for a Few Days—It Just Might Change Your Life
Want to learn how to easily use SEO to turn your website into a six-figure passive revenue stream? Sign up for my FREE webinar 3 Steps to Creating Passive Revenue From Your Blog (and how SEO is the Secret to a 6-Figure Recurring Revenue Stream!).
#53: In this episode, I share the importance of deleting your Instagram app every once in a while, ultimately to gain more clarity in your personal and professional life! Trust me, the results will be enlightening. I’ve done this a couple of times now for a few days at a time and it felt so freeing. I found that I was way more productive—I didn’t have the app’s notifications distracting me and pulling me away from my work, and I wasn't wasting time comparing myself to others online. This is your sign to try deleting IG from your phone, even if it's just for a day or two as an experiment. Here are some of the things that I get into:
- Balancing what brings me joy and what brings me revenue for my business—and why Instagram is just not it.
- How I wasn’t comparing myself and my business to others—I was just blogging away, creating quality content for my site (that I know is going to rank on Google and bring my revenue because of my SEO strategies), and was focused on myself and my biz, which felt so much healthier.
- An audio clip from Six-Figure SEO student Sarah where she talks about how she was so depressed by her reach on Instagram that it was actually affecting her mental health and making it hard for her to enjoy an epic Mediterranean cruise travel partnership she was on—and how she decided to focus less on IG and more on her website for her mental health.
- How Instagram users who engage in digital status seeking (looking for popularity online) and social comparison have been linked to increases in depressive symptoms, social anxiety, and body image concerns, as well as decreases in self-esteem.
With this all being said, listen to the episode, give it a try, and let me know how it goes. I promise it’ll be refreshing af!

#52: In this episode, I share the top 10 things I'm doing, and that other influencers, content creators, and small biz owners can consider doing to prepare for a recession. This episode is not meant to be fear-based but instead is meant to share ideas on how we can all prepare for what is likely our first recession as Millennial entrepreneurs, so that we can survive and then thrive afterward. If you're a business owner or a content creator who earns their money through affiliate links, sponsorships, etc. and you're worried about how a recession might affect your income, then this is the episode for you! I get into:
- The importance of diversifying your revenue streams and my current strategies for this + projects I'm currently working on with an eye for the longterm
- How I'm optimizing my money and re-evaluating personal budgets and business expenses
- Staying invested and potentially setting aside money to invest in ETF's

Talking Burnout With Ginger Jones: What Actually Causes It, How to Deal With It, and Trusting the Process
#51: We're chatting all about burnout with Ginger Jones, a speech-language pathologist and the Founder and CEO of Jones Therapy Services, a pediatric therapy clinic with 10 locations in Tennessee, that she sold in January of 2022.
After running her business for 12 years and employing hundreds of people, Ginger has some unique observations and perspectives on burnout. She shares some key learnings and realizations (like the fact that her employees who were the most "burned out" were not the ones who were the most productive), what works for her, and tangible tips for dealing with burnout. In this episode, we get into:
- Guilt and shame around admitting burnout, especially if you're in a highly coveted position or run your own business
- How burnout is actually a mismanagement of your resources
- Concrete things you can do to help manage burnout
- Thinking about self-care through a different lens like discipline and organization (not just massages and face masks)
- How to create your own "user manual" to make business and life decisions easier, plus identifying what you're tolerating in your life and what you want to change

#50: I'm continuing with my quarterly income reports and sharing all my business' financial numbers for Q2, 2022! These income report episodes are done in an effort to increase financial transparency in the creator industry, and to spark $$$ conversations among women. Because, as Gloria Steinem said in a quote that I absolutely LOVE, "One of the ways that women are kept poor is to tell them that money and power are unfeminine." Let's break that conditioning and grow our wealth. In this episode, we get into:
- Total revenue my business brought in during the months of April - June, plus analysis and breakdown of my different revenue streams
- Expenses and profitability, because context and transparency are key!
- How I was able to keep my revenue stable (even though I made less than HALF in brand campaigns as I did in Q2 2021)
- My thoughts on how a potential recession could impact content creators
