The Death of #MeToo: Is it the end of feminism once again?
The very public defamation trial of Johnny Depp V Amber Heard ended with Depp being awarded 15M USD by a US Jury which stated that Amber’s speaking out about suffering sexual violence and abuse was defamatory.
In this episode, Muthoni & Michelle talk about the attacks against survivors of violence who choose to speak out against their abusers and the ‘#MeToo’ movement in general. They explore the concept of a ‘good’ victimhood and how social media has been instrumentalized by so called ‘men’s rights activists’ and far right extremists to generate false narratives on character, nature and intent of survivors of abuse. They address how defamation and libel laws are being used globally to silence survivors and how a feminist analysis enables us to understand the how the patriarchy fights back against any actions geared towards dismantling it.

Power & Givin' It Up
Power...As feminists this is an issue that is at the core of feminist inquiry and its something that is ever present. We cannot talk about feminism and not talk about POWER. What it does to us? Who it turns us into? Why giving it up seems so damned hard?
In this episode Muthoni and Michelle talk about how we understand power as feminists and why the goal isn't necessarily taking over power but dismantling power. They take on the uncomfortable and troubling relationship that feminism has with the domestic worker rights movement and explore the role that feminism can play in reimagining and deconstructing oppression

From Intersectionality to Snoop Dogg

In this episode Muthoni and Michelle take on intersectionality, from its origin story with Black women, to how Asian and African feminists have used the intersectional lens in the fight against colonisation. How does Snoop D-O-double G fit into the mix? Well you're just going to have to grab a glass of wine and tune in to find out.
Pause
Breathe in … breathe out …! Pause. Reflect.
That’s how we’re starting the year. We have been living through a historic pandemic all while facing the pressure to stay active and productive. So this year, we’re saying fvck that! And we’re pausing. We’re taking time to reflect and to sit through everything – good and bad.
Grab your wine and just breathe…
This episode’s wine is a superb Gamay AOC Touraine as recommended by Vins_stagrams!

What’s the Point of the Revolution if You Can’t Dance??
In Episode two, we talk about feminist joy - what is it, how do we experience it and why do we tend to go out of our way to avoid it? From reclaiming selfcare as feminist and political, to Muthoni's killer Spotify playlists, this episode wades into the messy world of living feminist joy as a form of resistance.
Grab a drink and let's get this party started because ...What's the point of the revolution if you can't dance?

Finding our Feminism
In Episode one, we’re starting at the beginning, the very beginning of how on earth we became feminists. We both came from different starting points and journeyed through patriarchy, privilege and all sorts of pit stops in between before figuring out we weren’t crazy, we were just feminists! So grab your drink and lets tell you how we got there.
