What is Yoga nidra? What are it's benefits?
Yoga nidra is a highly advanced technique that allows the body and mind to attain complete stillness. With concentrated, regular practice, one begins to harness the powers of one pointed mind, visualization, and imagination to manifest healing, creativity, joy, transformations in all aspects: physically, mentally, and spiritually. Relaxation and rejuvenation are only the side effects of the practice. If one is receptive and sincere, infinite possibilities can be explored as one fine tunes the mind to the frequency of the Cosmic mind!
Breath meditation with a powerful affirmation
According to the great Yogi, Paramahansa Yogananda, the affirmation, 'My Father and I are one', is one of the highest affirmations of all.
In Sanskrit, 'Aham Brahmasmi', literally means, I am Brahman (the Creator). Deep within the depths of our being; beyond the flesh, blood, and bones; beyond the thoughts, emotions, and intellect; lies the ever pure image of God i.e. the Soul; untainted, eternal, ever joyous, and ever loving.
He also said, “The first rule in prayer is to approach God only with legitimate desires. The second is to pray for their fulfillment, not as a beggar, but as a son: “I am thy child. Thou art my Father. Thou and I are one.”
Through this guided meditation, we firstly bring our concentrated awareness to our breath that serves as a medium to connect with Prana (the vital life force that keeps us alive), and then gradually peeling the layers we allow the very qualities of our Soul to unfold and let us be reminded of who we really are; Pure Joy, Light, and Love! One with the Father, One with the Creator!

Yogic breathing - Breathing techniques to change the state of consciousness
Have you suffered from anxiety, worry, or stress ever? Does life sometimes overwhelm you? Do you find yourself worrying or getting frustrated often? Do you sometimes find yourself going down the downward spiral of negative thoughts one after the other? Do you wonder if you had the tools or maybe a magic wand to change the state of your mind right away? What if I say that you do! If you breathe, you have the magic wand right there; in your breath. And unlike the other temporary and often distracting measures, this method gives long lasting results. And to top it all, it gives you access to a higher state of consciousness if you are persistent with your regular practice. Your breath can take you places you never imagined existed!

Yoga nidra (Part 1)
Yoga nidra is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. It is often referred to as psychic sleep or deep relaxation with inner awareness. In this threshold state between sleep and wakefulness, the subconscious and unconscious mind can be accessed and hence underlying impressions that are not helpful or bad habits or influences etc can be removed. This technique can also be used to develop memory, increase knowledge or creativity, or transform one's nature by planting a deep resolve when the mind is most receptive. For that to happen, you must deepen your relaxation by practicing regularly and allowing faith and positivity to sustain.
The technique described here has been taken from Bihar school of Yoga.
About the practice: Since you are required to lie down flat on your back with little to no physical movements throughout the practice, you might want to use a few props to get as comfortable as possible. The idea is to get the body to relax deeply so that the mind doesn't get distracted by any physical discomfort. If you are using a pillow under your head, make sure it's not too big or thick and that your shoulders are also rested on it. If it's hard for your knees to relax, try to put a small bolster under the knees. If your lower back is too arched, place a folded small blanket or a small towel under it. Experiment with a few adjustments that suit you. Above all, relax and let go.
