Series Finale with My 5 Year Old Daughter
By far my hardest to book guest. My daughter went through a lot this year - she's 5 though so, even without a global pandemic and cross-country move, she would have gone through a lot of changes. We find out what the year looked like through her eyes.
Also, this is the series finale (most likely). It's been a great experience talking to everyone and sharing their stories. If there's one thing I learned in Season 2, it's that everyone did better than they think they did. If you think you're different - go talk to a friend, share your story of life over the last year. You've done so much more than you think you have - and in some very important and personal ways you thrived. Congratulations.
Hear Her Story from the Beginning::
Ep. 14 : My 4 Year Old Daughter

Hear her story from the Beginning ::
For Sale : Kids Drums, Never Used
An Improv Team once described a convoy to me as something that keeps moving forward, swapping out pieces, changing composition, just to move forward. Is that Mehmet's secret sauce - to keep innovating, keep moving forward?
He's experienced three lockdowns, a coup, and a Turkish Census. If you asked him, he'd say he puts everything off, but to hear his story from the last year - it's the story of a man who reinvented his business, his family, and even his home.
Hear his story from the beginning ::
NYC but No Diet Coke
From his balcony, Jackson watched NYC empty out, protests fill the streets and late night cheering come and go. Now, things are opening back up, what does that mean to a New Yorker - and why can't he find Diet Coke?
Hear Jackson's Story from the first few days and months of the pandemic ::
Day 47 - Dual Episode, East Coast v West Coast

Day 420 : In this episode, we catch up with Jade (my wife) one year after her first interview. She threw her whole life up in the air during the pandemic, changing states, battling the Second Wave, and finding late to the game TicTok fame. Now what's next?

Season 2 Trailer
We're back where we thought we'd never be. After being apart for 1 Whole Year, we're diving in to find out how we all got through the pandemic. AND, we're gonna get some great streaming recommends - after all, we've collectively watched everything there is to see by now.
Ep. 26 : Goodbye Season 1
In the last episode of Season 1, Bob Christian is the guest, finally getting a chance to answer the questions he's asked everyone else, sharing his 'top 5 things to stream', and sharing final thoughts as we near 100 days in a Covid-US.
While it seems impossible that we will ever go through another quarantine, who knows what lies ahead for us and for the US. If we do find ourselves 'Safer At Home', we'll be back to share the lives and movie suggestions of you all.
Thanks so much for being a part of the experience and for sharing your stories as we all tried to understand exactly what we were going through on a day by day basis.
Frontiers :: Immune Compromised and Reopening
Re-opening America has been a very divided issue since George first started, after only having isolated a few weeks. Being immune deficient and immune compromised makes this whole transition even more difficult because - as the rest of the world prepares to move on - the danger is still very high for them.
In this episode we talk to two people who ‘sheltered at home’ before the rest of the country began and have had very limited - if any - contact with the outside world sense.
As we all start to look forward, how do they feel their safety and concerns are being regarded by the rest of us?
‘Frontiers’ is a segment of Quaranstream where guests talk about the future of our life and world in a post quarantine world. Each episode features a series of guests who share their insight about the life to come
Frontiers :: Parents, Now and Next
Parenting and marriage - keeping six feet away from everyone except the few people that it has been hard to get five feet away from. This whole experience has been a rollercoaster - so we talk with some parents about the best parts, what they’ve learned, and even find out what shows to avoid.
‘Frontiers’ is a segment of Quaranstream where guests talk about the future of our life and world in a post quarantine world. Each episode features a series of guests who share their insight about the life to come
Frontiers :: I Traveled During Covid
In this episode of Frontiers, we get updates from Alexis (now in Orlando) and Chris (now in Colorado) to find out what drove them to leave LA during quarantine and how much their life has changed since moving. Was this big choice, the right choice?

Creators :: Meagan at the Studio
Day 52 : The Day of Reopening
Meagan is the most honest guest we’ve had yet - taking us through life while the studios are closed including navigating employment from a veteran perspective and maybe the biggest job transition - navigating the challenges of being a mom.
The List (23:00) is the perfect example of her life - a mix of children, partner, and me time.
Creators :: Justin on Reimagining Travel Blogging
Day 48 : Learning New Ways to Connect with the World
Justin was in the beginning of a big travel season when the US and the world went into quarantine. While he talks about the trouble he’s had coping, he also talks about pushing forward. He goes through his mindset of finding a balance in authenticity and ‘me time’.
(He also says everyone should spend some time naked.)
The List (23:00) speaks to the mind of someone looking to push forward while making time to curl up on the couch and recharge.
Frontiers :: NYC vs. LA
In this episode of Frontiers, we talk with Aaron in LA and Jackson in NYC about life and their cities over the last 50 days. Having both lived in both cities, Jackson and Aaron have a unique perspective on how quarantine is going and which city is doing it better.
‘Frontiers’ is a segment of Quaranstream where guests talk about the future of our life and world in a post quarantine world. Each episode features a series of guests who share their insight about the life to come.
Creators : Matt on Digital Content
Day 45 : All the Pre-pandemic Twinkies are Dead
Matt has been creating online content for years both as a writer and producer. Locked in with his new girlfriend, we talk about how to stay motivated, setting goals, and the authenticity.
The List (20:00) is the most exciting list yet. Each suggested stream offers a new enriching media experience for your pandemic needs.
Frontiers : Travel
In this episode of Frontiers, we talk with our first two guests - Jade in Los Angeles & Spencer in Sonoma County - thirty days later. Having spent over a month in Quarantine we talk about the surprises, highs, and lows found living in our own homes. Then as we look forward, we talk *travel* and what the future might look like once we’re all free.

Ep. 17 : Being 9 & In Beverly Hills
Day 36 : Apartment Life of 5 + Get This 9yo Take on Movies
It’s easy to hear about what life is like for adults, but what about kids? Alice is 9 years old in Beverly Hills getting used to being at home for school, recess, and relaxation. She’s found an escape in writing and weights in on how her family is doing vs. how her NYC friends are doing.
The List (12:45) shocked me. Still in elementary school, Alice has a take on movies and tv that didn’t even cross my mind until my 20s.
Ep. 16 : Utah + the Great Outdoors + LDS
Day 33 : Localizing Nature and The World Beyond This
The last time I saw Mike, he was bragging about how he finally bought a car that was comfortable to camp in overnight. Basically, he most more outdoorsy friend. As the country moved indoors, he was one of the first people I wanted to talk to about making this adjustment.
Living in Utah and working in tourism, we talk about what it’s like to live surrounded by an endless outdoor playground in an LDS community and what the future might look like for all of us eager to get outside.
The List (22:00) surprised me as a mix of comedy and documentaries that go far beyond the blogosphere.
Ep. 15 : As Georgia Looks to Open
Day 32 : The Best Adjusted Quarantine-er
Abby took control of her quarantine early on and is dominating. Living outside of Atlanta, she began sheltering in place weeks before Georgia enacted regulation. She’s found comfort in her shelter, and is excelling at dealing with the new normal - even on the eve of Georgia making some big changes.
The List (20:00) has an awards favorite, interesting character choices, and the inside scoop on “The Office”
Ep. 14 : My 4 Year Old Daughter
Day 31 : What's it like to be a preschooler, right now?
For the past 3 years, Augustine has been in a daycare/playdate situation daily. In one afternoon, she became someone who barely has any contact with kids her age. My wife and I didn't pull any punches, we tried to lay out the situation to her (as we understood it) in a way that she would understand it. We've tried to make this a positive experience. Here's where we are at the end of a month.
The List (9:30) is almost entirely new since quarantine - including some of our forays into musicals.
Ep. 13 : Vegas Strong
Day 30 : Family + Fashion
Emily began quarantining her family before the official lock down because of her son’s pre-existing lung disease. Now several weeks in, she’s balancing learning to cook, holding down a full time job, nerf battles, and staying ‘fashionable’. How does she do it - all nighters and 4am alarms. Thank goodness she has Freddie there to help her unwind.
The List (20:50) is the way that Freddie and Emily stay current on what people are talking about and find themselves so ‘couple time’.
Ep. 12 : “On The Road” (Pt. 2) LAX to NYC
Day 26 : Mike is Driving from LA to NYC
Mike had been planning to move NYC for six months - which just happened to be in the middle of our pandemic. After three months without even seeing his wife, they are now in the car crossing the country. By the end of their trip they will have spent six days cruising through the US and moving from one of the world’s more active COVID destinations to the current US Epicenter.
The List (29:00) is easily the most eclectic list yet - and a great collection of things to talk to your friends about while you avoid talking about quarantine.
** I can't find any listing for "Distorted Drawings" on TicTok - if you have links please share :: Instagram @CivilMatador
Ep. 11 : “On The Road” (Pt. 1) LAX to FL
Day 24 : Alexis Escaped LA Last Night
Alexis has experienced every side of LA’s quarantine. At first with a roommate who abandoned her, leaving here to live/work/shelter alone. Looking at a calendar of solitude, Alexis made the hard decision to pack up and go to Florida during Pandemic.
The List (20:20) is full of easy things to fall into no matter what your mood - which maybe exactly what you need right now.
Ep. 10 : "A Tale of Two Families" (Pt. 2) & A Fruit Salad of a List
Day 19 : "Shelter in Place"
"A Tale of Two Families : Part 2" - In this two part series we talk with two Dads about their approach to raising kids in quarantine, making the best of each day, and not getting sick. This second part features one of my newest friends and his approach to raising his daughters, while giving up work to be a full time dad and slowing converting his home into a playground.
The List (19:20) - This list defies categorization and is one of the broadest interpretations of the meaning of 'stream'.
Ep. 9 : "A Tale of Two Families" (Pt. 1) & Is it Time to Figure This Out Together
Day 19 : "Shelter in Place"
"A Tale of Two Families : Part 1" - In this two part series we talk with two Dads about their approach to raising kids in quarantine, making the best of each day, and not getting sick. This first part features one of my oldest friends and his approach to raising his daughter Parker in a downtown style apartment.
The List (23:30) - Would you call it 'All of Us Working Together' or 'Everyone Trying to Get Out'? That place where action film and drama blur the line.
Ep. 8 : What's Bourbon Street without People & Everyone Loves '99 Apparently
Day 16 : The French Quarter is Silent
Sydney is uniquely NOLA. Not only is she an amazing artist, but she is a nightly player at one of the most famous bars in the world. For years, she's had to fight through crowds every day. Now, all that is gone, and she's suddenly experiencing a NOLA that's quiet, well except for her own collection of exotic pets.
The List (11:30) accidentally taps into the unsung love that apparently all of America has for the films and tv of 1999.
Season Update :: Where We're Going
I wanted to pop in here and let you know - this is the show now. "Life in Quarantine" & “the Top 5 Things to Stream” together.
Starting with Mehmet comparing this to his time locked down by a Turkish Coup in Episode 4, I knew I wanted to make the ‘life at home’ recap that I’d be running through at the top of the show more substantial.
I’ve been working to tell more of our guest’s story each episode, and from now on each guest is going to be a way that we can all find out more about life in quarantine and then what we should watch.
I can’t wait for you to hear these next episode, and if you have a unique perspective or just want to share your life from quarantine - reach out to me on Twitter and Instagram at @CivilMatador.
Ep. 6 : Locked In with Autoimmune Disease + Reality Escapism
Our Day 14 : Is Amber’s Day 24
We’ve all heard the warning about ‘those at risk’, but what does that mean in the day to day? Amber sheds some light on her life, avoiding/sheltering/surviving Covid-19.
The List (9:40) is a bit guilty pleasure, but when you’re locked inside - can you still feel guilty?
Ep. 5 : East Coast v. West Coast Quarantine & The Sorkin We Shall Not Name
Day 11 : "Shelter in Place"
Living in LA, the Governor keeps warning that we're headed to be the next NYC. So, I talk to Jackson about life in NYC right now to see my future. In some ways, our experiences could never be the same.
The List (9:30) is a mix of the best shows to rewatch & a Sorkin surprise.
Ep. 4 : Covid-19 vs. Turkish Coup & The List of Many Levels
Day 9 : "Shelter in Place"
We talk with Mehmet about living through the current quarantine vs. his previous lockdown experience - being caught in the middle of a Turkish Coup.
The List (12:30) is one of the most through we've had so far. Not only are the shows rich and unexpected, everything has a double meaning.
Ep. 3 : LA is Done Hiking & One Tough List with Aaron
'Shelter in Place' :: Day 7. After our first weekend of being 'indoors', we've all lost our outside time.
We talk about the last bits of melee hiking, life with only a cat and gritty/dramatic streaming options with out Guest - Aaron Pont from Los Feliz, LA, California.
Ep. 2 : Around the World with Jade
Jade calls in to inadvertently discuss projects from all over the world that feature women as the lead. Spoiler alert, Jade is my wife, so we also talk living as a family in quarantine.
Ep. 1 : The 5 Watch List : Fantasy & World Building with Spencer
Currently 'Sheltering in Place' in North California, Spencer lays out his Top 5 picks which is a deep dive into Fantasy, World Building, and a Little Marky - Mark.
