He's Sober
APRIL IS ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH.
Three years ago on April 18, I interviewed Richard Johnson about his struggles with alcohol addiction. He openly shared how as a "happy" man, who was happily married, was comfortable with money, his job, family, and cars he overindulged in alcohol. Alcoholism is not always about trauma and sadness. Sometimes we become addicted or abuse it because we just love how it tastes.
Now, he is battling lung cancer that started in his colon and then metastasized to his colon and then to his lung. He had undergone multiple surgeries.
The consequences of heavy alcohol use are serious and include an increased risk of cancer, dementia, falls and dangerous interactions with medications.
New research suggests the risks of even moderate or light drinking may outweigh the benefits. In June, the World Health Organization said that no level of alcohol consumption is safe for our health. And a new study funded by the National Institutes of Health found that binge drinking among adults ages 35 to 50 has reached historic levels.

Breaking the Silence: Let's Talk About Uterine Fibroids
ARE YOU READY TO TAKE THE COUCH?
Hey everyone, tonight I want to shine a light on a topic that affects millions of women worldwide: uterine fibroids. These non-cancerous growths in the uterus can cause a range of symptoms, from heavy menstrual bleeding and pelvic pain to fertility issues. My guest tonight, Mrs. Christine Dukes-Hart, LCSW, nearly lost her life because of complications created by uterine fibroids.
Mrs. Hart developed TTP, Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, and was unconscious in the ICU for several days. It's rare but can be life-threatening if not diagnosed and treated promptly. TTP affects the blood's ability to clot properly, leading to the formation of small blood clots throughout the body. This can cause a range of symptoms, including bruising, fatigue, fever, confusion, and even organ damage. Early detection is crucial, so it's important to be aware of the warning signs and seek medical attention if you or someone you know experiences them. Treatment often involves plasma exchange therapy and medications to suppress the immune system.
Many women suffer in silence from fibroids, unaware that effective treatments and support are available. Whether you're currently dealing with fibroids or know someone who is, it's essential to seek medical guidance and explore all available options. Knowledge is power, and together, we can make a difference in the fight against this rare but serious condition. Stay informed, stay vigilant, and take care of yourselves. Let's support each other, share our stories, and empower women to take control of their reproductive health.
Take nothing for granted, my friends. Life is precious, and each day is a gift. Hold your loved ones close, chase your dreams passionately, and never forget to savor the simple joys that surround you.

Why is Dating So Challenging?
ARE YOU READY TO TAKE THE COUCH?
Join me on the couch tonight as I chat with with ladies in their 20s, 30s and 50s. I am in my 40s and I rep the ladies in their 40s! Why is dating so challenging?
Most people get in their own way more than anything or anyone else. We fail because we’re stuck in our heads, self-sabotaging, or acting in a way that we don’t even realize is deeply problematic. You don’t need to be trapped in a loop of negativity forever. You can break free, become more self-aware, and start to live your life on your terms. To date on your terms.
Dating is fairly simple, but people make it complicated. People, with their issues, bad habits, and unprocessed traumas, make dating very, very difficult.

HEY-HEY! ARE YOU READY TO TAKE THE COUCH?
Did you know that you may be able to control your mood? Yes! Just you, nothing else, just YOU! People everywhere trigger the release of feel-good hormones, unbeknownst to them. The most popular reference are athletes - the popular runner’s high. But there are sooooo many other ways we can release our feel good chemicals aka hormones. Do you know what makes you happy or happier?? In tonight's episode I explain endorphins, feel good chemicals - I define them and how they help, how to increase them and what happens if you don't have the ability to make or sustain them in noticeable levels. For some people, inherited genetic disorders or other factors may affect their ability to produce these hormones and sustain them. I talk about the bad behaviors that can enhance these chemicals and why we should stay away from these bad things. And as today is Sunday which is the most popular self care day, there is honorable mention about self care.
Join me on the couch if you want to understand the triggers that naturally activate each chemical release: what works—and why—to naturally "boost" one’s happy hormones.

In the show, Melky incorporates her own original songs with some of her favorite soul legends like Betty Wright, Joe Cocker, Celia Cruz, and Tina Turner to name a few. After writing and producing various soundtracks for film, Melky landed her first syndicated television show throughout the United States as Host and Correspondent of Vibe magazines new television show reaching millions of viewers. Melky also began to write music video treatments that to her surprise would later have her behind the camera as a director. After directing a series of music video's she now writes movie scripts hoping to have her first featured film released soon.

The Impact of Conscious Rap on Mental Wellness
June is African American Music Appreciation Month! It was created by President Jimmy Carter in 1979. We celebrate the African American musical influences that comprise an essential part of our nation's treasured cultural heritage. You've heard of Kendrick Lamar? J. Cole? Well, add Yung Wylin to this list of conscious hiphop artists. Like Kendrick and J. Cole, Yung Wylin has had his encounters with mental health and wellness. He shares his journey in developing his wellness plan which includes a 'clean' diet, awareness of processed foods and how they affect us, our brains, our children based on his personal experiences.
His desire to live healthier and to share what he has learned has inspired his style of rap - conscious rap. Conscious rap is a sub-genre of hip-hop aimed at creating social awareness. Yung Wylin's new single, "Good Energy" is capturing young and old from the head boppin' track to the meaningful, uplifting lyrics. Yung Wylin is on a mission to share his 'good energy', his insights into being the change that we all need. He takes the couch with me to share his path to this 'good energy' and how he discovered that society needs more conscious and social awareness.
