The Journey of One - Alone Among the Stars
This is the first episode in a new series called ‘The Journey of One’ in which I’ll cover solo role-playing games of all types, be it complex full-system RPG’s or be it smaller indie journaling games. This is all about the love for single player storytelling, role-playing and simply having a good time.
In the inaugural episode of the series, we’ll be looking at Alone Among the Stars by Takuma Okada. As explained by the author the game is a tabletop roleplaying game about exploring space and experiencing wondrous sights. To explore the vast universe all you need is a standard deck of 52 cards, a d6 die and something to write with and write on, be it a word document or a pen and paper.
Are you ready to learn more and explore new planets? Visit Alone Among the Stars on itch and download the copy of a game yourself: https://noroadhome.itch.io/alone-among-the-stars
For those of you who’ll go through the review there’s a special something. A mini audio-drama based on my very own adventures with the game. Listen and see what mysteries the vast dark universe has to offer!

Legend of Drizzt - The D&D board game of delving into the underdark
The legendary drow ranger Drizzt Do’Urden is coming to life on your tabletop in this review of Legend of Drizzt by Wizards Of the Coast. Whether it is the adventurers lifestyle, the unexplored underdark or simply life of adventure for which the Dungeons & Dragons is well known for, the board game brings you 'a fraction' of the experience.
But does it mean the game is lacking? Does it mean it does not deserve a place on your shelf?
Listen to this episode and find out why despite it's flaws the game is very deserving of your time!

Dining with Dracula A Kickstarter preview - do you have what it takes to take over Dracula's tourist empire?
Hello everyone :)
As you can see, this week we are not delivering on the promise of 'Beginner friendly games' as voted by you, but we have a great reason for it! While our notes and thoughts on great intro-games will remain and can wait, this could not.
Thanks to kindness of 2Fat2Fly Games we've been given a chance to play their new upcoming board game Dining with Dracula, which is coming on Kickstarter 18th of August! Yes, we mean as in tomorrow for those of you who decided to give us a listen today.
The game is a lovely mix of worker placement and very smart resource management which sets us up as young vampires hungry for Dracula's riches, but most importantly hungry for his tourist empire. Yes, you've heard me correctly, Dracula is not the monstrous beast (not only), but a smart tycoon who's established a tourist operations in his beloved Transylvania. It is up to us to win his favour by showering him with gifts and bribing him to allow use to change the favour we gained, into hard earned glory of victory points.
To achieve that we must be smart, plan ahead and utilise the tourists that visited old Drac's hometown. Be wary though, as while senile and wrinkly, he is still hungry and tourists, who do not have to be only our pawns in schemes and do our bidding but can also become Dracula's late snack and our entry ticket to his table. Though if you're not in 'killy mood' few sheep or blood bags will also suffice.
If you want to know more (and you absolutely should), listen to this episode and learn why your time and money are worth Dracula's attention!
Dining With Dracula Kickstarter page - starting 18th of August 2020!
Early bid gets a fancy metal coin with the ever-famous Count so don't wait too long to make up your mind :)

City Tycoon - a tile laying multiplayer-solo experience?
Hello fellow gamers !
In the eight episode of our second season I’m having a closer look at a game which I believe very few people know but may be something worth your attention. I’m talking about City Tycoon from Rebel, your friendly Polish publisher (no association with the podcast whatsoever :D ).
In this tile-drafting and tile-laying city builder you’ll get a chance to build your own districts, supply them with resources and make sure that the citizens are happy, as it is their happiness that in the end helps you achieve success and win the game. With tile-drafting and 100+ tiles to choose from no two games are the same, with resource purchasing and transportation fees the player interaction can make you some money if you’re smart enough.
If no interaction is your kind of thing, fear no more as that’s a fully valid way to play too for those who prefer ‘you play your own and I’ll do my best’ or those who min/max all the games they play! Whether you want to build a nice looking city, make most money or simply put some tiles and play with cubes, the game has got you covered. Have a listen to find out if that’s your cup of tea or perhaps a title you should avoid!
Either way, I’ll be happy to be your companion for the twenty-odd minutes and I hope you’ll find it useful.
As always, enjoy and take care!
Dark Souls The Board Game - Video grindfest on your tabletop
Hello everyone !
After slightly longer than anticipated break we're back and we're bringing you the promised content. In this episode we're looking at the game that you have chosen in the last Instagram vote, the tabletop adaptation of the unforgiving video game Dark Souls. If you'd like to learn more how Steamforged Games adapted the computer classis to its board game counter-part join me in this slightly longer than usual episode.
We'll get a chance to hear my thoughts on the game having had it for more than 3 years in my collection and having played quite a few of the dungeons, if they can actually be called that. Whether you're a fan of the original video game or a curious fan of all things tabletop, let's delve in into the grim and unforgiving world of the Dark Souls The Board Game.
The Godfather: Corleone's Empire - When Italian mob meets worker placement and area control
Hello everyone :)
We are sorry for the wait but the voted episode is finally up and as chosen by you on our Instagram it's all about the mafia. In this episode I'm having a closer look at the Godfather: Corleone's Empire by Eric Lang published by ever-famous CMON. It is a 'minis on a map' game for which Mr. Lang is very famous for but one that has not gotten a lot of attention, which I believe is a shame.
In Godfather you'll become a head of one of the families from the Godfather trying to work for the Don by establishing control in key areas, shaking down businesses and completing tasks that need to be done for the good of the family. Be it a drive by, bribery, extortion, it's all here and it has never been more fun.
If you'd like to learn more on how the games makes you feel like a real mobster and how the game perfectly utilised the source material to deliver not only good gameplay but also a very thematic experience, buckle up, get your headphones ready and listen!
Once you're done make sure to visit our Fan Community and leave us a comment, get in touch and tell us what you think about the game and our show! We are always there for you, so do not hesitate to leave us a message. Also, keep your eyes peeled for our Instagram as the next vote is coming up soon and you'll get to decide what game we review in our next episode, which is coming in 2 weeks time :)
As always, enjoy the show, happy gaming and take care!
Elder Sign - Race against time with Eldritch Symbols and dice at it's core
Hello everyone!
In today’s episode I’m having a look at yet another game set in the ever-famous Lovecraftian Arkham Chronicles universe. This time it is our job to collect the Elder Signs and make sure that none of the ancient one’s will grow strong enough to wake and go through the portal to our world. As investigators we will investigate every corner of the Arkham Museum in hope’s of finding useful items, magical grimoires and allies that can help us in collecting Elder Signs, the eldritch symbols holding the power to seal the portals and stop the Ancient One’s attempts to come and wreak havoc in Arkham.
It’s time to look into Fantasy Flight Games’ Elder Sign a classic dice game from 2011 which pits us, a group of investigators against an ancient one in a race against time where hopes are low, death is highly likely if not inevitable, and the luck needs to be on our side to secure the win!

If you're a fan of Akira, Ghost in the Shell or love the anime/manga aesthetics then Infinity is for you. If you ever wanted to experience the coop of Mansions of Madness but in a more accessible smaller and easier to carry around format you are in luck as Arkham Horror LCG ticks many of these boxes.
If you're on the fence on whether to buy it or not, we hope our episode will help you make the right decision. If you've never heard of it, then it is my pleasure to tell you all you need to know :)
I hope you'll enjoy this episode and as always make sure to come back in 2 weeks for our next episode where Mike and I talk about Infinity by Corvus Belli a superb scific skirmishi miniature wargame.

Machi Koro - city building made simple
In today's episode we're looking at the ever famous Machi Koro. A simple card based engine building game in which players compete as mayors to be the first to build a series of monuments, thus showing their Mayoral prowess.

Enjoy and get ready to ransack the tombs, visit Skaven labs and kill few monsters on the way!
Solo Play - Mini Rogue
Hello fellow board gamers!
In today's episode I'm having a quick chat on the topic of playing solo, all of you who play board games on your own (be it because you like it, it's hard to find time when everyone's available or simply lack a good gaming group) it's your time to shine. I will briefly cover my own experience of playing board games solo and share my little discovery of a lovey 9-card game called Mini Rogue.

Pandemic
Hello fellow listeners !
In today's episode I'm (Omar) having a closer look at the 2008 Co-operative classic board game Pandemic. For many of people it is a modern classic, yet I was not so quick to play it and only got myself a copy 2 years ago. If you want to get a closer look on why this might be a game for you, or perhaps why so many people call it one of the best entry-level coop board games, join me in today's episode.
Once again, Michael's is away so it's an episode on a shorter side, but I hope that the 20 minutes with me will be entertaining enough for you to come back in 2 weeks time!
Enjoy and take care!
Digital Board Games (Mini-sode)
Hello fellow board gamers!
It’s Omar here, going solo again as lately with our busy schedules it’s been difficult to meet up for a proper recording session with Mike, but fear not for soon we’ll be back with more content for you guys !
With the upcoming release of ever-famous top BBG dungeon-crawling giant Gloomhaven I thought it might be a good time to have a quick chat about board games and their digital counter parts and ports. With increasing number of board games becoming accessible on PC’s, phones and tablets they are getting a good chance to reach wider audience and be played on the go. So today I’ll give you my impressions so far based on my experience with digital board games.
Hope you’ll enjoy it!
Let's roll some dice - Chupacabra Dice, Beyond The Gates of Antares Dice Game and Pizza Party
Hello fellow board games 😊
In today’s episode I’m alone, as Mike’s been unavailable for the recording being busy with work stuff, and talking about a game genre that many seem to know but few play often. Today we’re having a look at few of the dice games. I’ll have a very quick look at Steve Jackson’s Chupacabra dice, Warlord’s Beyond The Gates of Antares dice game and a small, fun, food-themed child friendly game called Pizza Party.
I hope you will enjoy this weeks short episode and perhaps give some dice games a go, as I think they make great fillers and with so many different games out there I’m sure there’s a dice game to suit your needs!
Enjoy the episode and I’ll catch you again soon!
Innsmouth Special
Hello everyone and welcome to our first ever SPECIAL episode which features me, Omar and Mike in our very first audiodrama. I personally always wanted to try it out and Mike’s once he heard of it was on board straight away, so I will not be lying by saying that we both enjoyed doing it and, if you like it and find it entertaining, will be happy to do some more.
The story in the episode is a work of fiction inspired by the ‘Shadow over Innsmouth’ by Lovecraft, a story well-known and loved by many as well as a story which inspired 2nd scenario in the Mansions of Madness board game, hence that where our idea to make an audiodrama came from.
We hope you will enjoy our special episode and will share it with other, perhaps opening eyes to a theatre for ears for those of your friends who have not heard anything like that yet. We know our acting skill is not up to par, but we tried our best to sound convincing for your enjoyment.
Let’s walk together into Innsmouth in the search of Private Investigator Crawford as we read through his notes to uncover what has happened in the town of Innsmouth.

A lovely adventure game from 1 to 5 players where we set off to an adventure as some of the iconic characters such as Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli or Bilbo, along with some new characters added in the game itself.
We'll travel through Middle earth in a campaign sprawling over series of missions each one affecting the future missions, thus making it a great game for those of you who want a bit of legacy taste but might not have the time to play a full on legacy system.
