Empowered Authenticity: The Podcast
By Kelly Shoppa
I'm your host, Kelly Shoppa, Confidence Coach and founder of Empowered Authenticity. This podcast is for everyone wanting to add some feel-good vibes to your day.

Katy Weber & Jules Edwards
This week, we are joined by Katy Weber and Jules Edwards of Women & ADHD, an online community for women to share their experiences of living with ADHD. As we learn in the episode, girls are often undiagnosed or misdiagnosed when it comes to ADHD due to a difference in outward behaviors between girls and boys. As a result, we are seeing more women diagnosed later in life. Katy and Jules share with us their experiences of being diagnosed in adulthood, discuss how ADHD presents in males and females, and provide insight on techniques they use to better manage their ADHD and stop thinking they're broken.

Shannon Kaneshige
This week we are joined by the founder of Fringe(ish), Shannon Kaneshige. Shannon is a fat and non-binary yoga instructor who seeks to empower others to take up space both on and off the mat. Having lived most of their life in a bigger body, they have struggled with body acceptance and finding their self-worth and have since reclaimed their power.
It's no secret that our society is extremely weight-centric and places significant value on thinness. As such, Shannon is one of the many folks in larger bodies who has been the recipient of comments ranging from misinformed to downright cruel. Shannon's strength and resilience amidst adversity are remarkable. They are a beacon of hope for those in larger bodies and/or are marginalized in other capacities.
This is an amazing episode that you do not want to miss!

The Good Doctors: Kristen Donnelly & Erin Hinson
You've likely heard the terms diversity, inclusion, oppression, and privilege. They've become buzzwords and the basis of many conversations surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement. But what do they actually mean and how can they be put into practice? The Good Doctors of Abbey Research, Kristen Donnelly and Erin Hinson join me this week to break down these topics and explore how empathy, learning, and making mistakes can change the world for the better.
Abbey Research exists to empower inclusive communities to cultivate and activate their empathy. Empathy is an intellectual posture, not an emotional response, and they believe it is powered by curiosity and is mandatory to change the world. They have an active YouTube channel, a thrice weekly podcast, and travel the world giving workshops and keynotes to help organizations in their expanded empathy.
Kristen Donnelly (MSW, M.Div, PhD) is a TEDx speaker, international empathy educator, and researcher with two decades of experience in helping people understand the beauty in difference, and the power in inclusivity. She is one of The Good Doctors of Abbey Research, COO of their parent company, and an unapologetic nerd for stories of change. Kristen lives outside of Philadelphia with her husband, where they are surrounded by piles of books and several video game consoles.
Erin Hinson (MA, PhD) is a researcher, educator, and tea enthusiast with over a decade of experience in cultivating curiosity in herself and others. As one of The Good Doctors of Abbey Research, Erin advocates for inclusion, equity, and understanding through conversation. She lives in Pittsburgh with her mother, cat, and international gin collection.
Abbey Research is part of Abbey Companies, a family owned network of businesses that Dr. Kristen owns with her brother, Brian Nielsen. Their mission is to impact lives and create wealth, which they’ve been doing in a variety of industries for over 30 years. You can learn more here on the website of Abbey Color, their flagship company.
