Stretch Run
NHL playoff races are heating up especially in the West with arguably 6 teams fighting for two Wild Card spots and the final spot in the Pacific division. The Jets are right in the thick of things with more games played than a lot of teams around them. Are they going to make it? Will they be able to catch Dallas for third in the Central? Players like Adam Lowry and Mathieu Perreault are returning from injury. Is this enough to get them in? The guys also look at the deadly spread of the Coronavirus and the impact it might have on the NHL heading down the stretch. Connor for Byram?
The Winnipeg Jets have won four of their last five games and have moved back into a playoff spot. Does this hot play give them incentive to buy at the trade deadline? Do the Jets have any assets they could sell if the opportunity presents itself? Rumours have circulated Winnipeg about the potential of a deal between the Avalanche and the Jets involving Kyle Connor and Bowen Byram. What would it take for a deal like this to happen? Who would win the trade? Tonight's game against the Rangers is also the first one back for former Jet Jacob Trouba. What will the response be like? The guys look at these topics and more on this week's episode. Remember that not only can you find the JetsNation Podcast on Anchor.fm, but we’re also on iTunes! Who's the "Bad Guy"?
All reports seem to be indicating that the Winnipeg Jets are in the process of terminating the contract of their star defenceman Dustin Byfuglien. He would then become a UFA on the open market. There has been a lot of secrecy around his injury and on this week's episode the guys look at the situation, who appears to be the "bad guy", and where do the Winnipeg Jets go from here. Is Maurice In The Hot Seat?
The Winnipeg Jets have found themselves in a nosedive as they drop down the standings. Heading into the All Star weekend they have lost four straight games and have dropped six of their last seven. They are now fifth in the Central Division and three points out of a playoff spot. What Makes A Great Coach?
The Winnipeg Jets have been red hot over the last few weeks posting a record of 8-2-1. Despite the losses of Bryan Little, Mason Appleton and Gabriel Bourque the team keeps on rolling. Around the NHL some coaches have started to find themselves in the hot seat and Mike Babcock has been fired. The Winnipeg Jets have finally broken up Mark Sheifele and Blake Wheeler. The combination has been a staple on the top line for the Jets over the last couple of seasons, but with injuries and declining results a change was made. Does this make the top nine better? What still needs to be fixed? The guys also look at the improved play of Patrik Laine, and the controversial firing of Don Cherry. Injury Bug
It's been a quiet week for the Winnipeg Jets with just two games being played in the last seven days. One was the Heritage Classic in Regina, and the other in Anaheim last night. The Jets went 1-1 but have been bitten by the injury bug and were looking pretty desperate for able bodied players. What do they do next? Can they tread water while they wait for players to return? Magic Bullet Maurice
Paul Maurice has split up Scheifele and Wheeler! Where do the Jets go from here? They picked up a nice 1-0 win over Edmonton but then struggled against the lowly Kings. What was a strength of the team, the offence, has now let them down the last couple of games. Blake Wheeler hasn't been scoring at a pace consistent with the last couple of years. Should fans start to get worried? Does the addition of Luca Sbisa make a difference? Today Kyle Buhler is feeling under the weather, so local hockey fan Randy Lilley joins the show. Do "Sellouts" Matter?
It's been an up and down stretch for the Winnipeg Jets. They won three straight before dropping the last two. Tuesday's game against Arizona was the first that wasn't a "sellout" since their return to Winnipeg in 2011. Should fans be worried? The Season Is Here
NHL hockey is finally being played and the Winnipeg Jets are .500 after an opening four game road trip. No Dustin Byfuglien, no Josh Morrissey (for two games), yet somehow the team has done better than many expected. The Jets have been pleasantly surprised by the play of rookie Ville Heinola but on the other hand haven't been surprised with the overall defence at times in front of their net.   The NHL All-Star weekend is almost here and honestly the game can be a bit of a snooze fest. Some players decline their invitations, and others play half-hearted with little motivation. There have been some positive changes in the last few years but what else can be done? Despite having the best player in the NHL the Edmonton Oilers have been a disaster. Winnipeg is 3-0 since returning back home including some big performances from their top line of Mark Schiefele, Blake Wheeler, and Nikolaj Ehlers. Patrick Laine hasn't been scoring at even strength, but does it really matter if the team is winning and he is contributing on the power play? Josh Morrissey could be facing supplemental discipline and Myers should be facing discipline for some of his latest errors. The guys look at all of this and more on today's show. Suspensions
Is the NHL season still going on? The Winnipeg Jets have had an extended break since coming back from Finland and the guys are getting antsy. Patrick Laine played great in his home country; will this type of play continue when he comes back to North America? The Jets also have the tough decision of what to do with Brendan Lemieux. His hit basically cost them the game against the Panthers, and now he is out for at least the next two games. Magic Bullet Maurice
The Winnipeg Jets have had the hardest time this season finding a suitable line for their young Finnish sniper. Will the combination of Lowry and Tanev help Laine break out this season? Neither are elite playmakers, but they could potentially make up for Laine's lack of defense. Will the complete forward overhaul help the goal production? The guys also look at some curious roster decisions heading overseas (No Niku or Vesalainen), and delve into the defensive depth. Dano Departure
The Winnipeg Jets are 1-1-1 in their last three games and the offense hasn't been coming as easily as it has in the past. Do they need a change up front? Is a new player coming in on the fourth line really going to make a difference? The Jets now have one less player in the organization with the departure of Marko Dano for nothing. It now makes the Andrew Ladd trade look even worse. The guys look at these topics and more on this week's show. (0:32) - Where's the offence? (8:10) - Dano Departure (15:59) - Bring out the blender

Jets Nation Podcast: Blake Wheeler
The biggest news in weeks came out Tuesday morning when the Winnipeg Jets announced that they had reached a new 5 year contract extension worth $41.25 million with their captain Blake Wheeler. The contract will make Wheeler the highest paid Jet, and will take him until he is 37. There is obviously some concern when paying a 37 year old player $8.25 million. The guys break down the pros and cons of the deal and look at the impact it will have on the team in the future. (0:40) - Wheelin' and Dealin' (19:36) - Impact on the future

Jets Nation Podcast: Summer Stories
We are halfway through August and it's been a long time since the NHL made any legitimate headlines. The Jets haven't signed any players in a few weeks. So what is left to talk about? Josh Morrissey still needs a contract, prospects Dylan Samberg and David Gustafsson have been playing at the World Junior Summer showcase, and there is always the possibility of another free agent signing. The guys also discuss the strength of Canada internationally, and the bad boys of hockey. (0:33) - Summer Hockey (9:43) - Morrissey (14:49) - Summer for Chevy

Jets Nation Podcast: Trouba Trouble
Jacob Trouba will go down in history. In a time when very few players ever reach arbitration, he is the first Winnipeg Jets player to go through the process. With the inability to sign a long term contract, what is next for the Jets? Should they trade him? Should they keep him as long as possible? The guys answer these questions along with discussing the other signings and the remaining restricted free agents. Jets Nation Podcast: Trade Wheeler?
It's been a hot Summer in Winnipeg, and it's about to get hotter for Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. Right now four Winnipeg Jets RFA's have filed for arbitration and a lot of their appointments are scheduled for the next two weeks. Most players never reach arbitration, but Jacob Trouba isn't "Most players". The Jets have already signed Connor Hellebuyck to a long term deal that for some is a little pricey. The suggestion has also been put forward, that with the crop of elite young players the Jets might not be able to resign Blake Wheeler after next season and now is when he should be traded. Andrew Bergen from "The Film Collective" makes a guest appearance. (0:40) - Hellebuyck Deal (7:11) - Trade Wheeler?? (18:42) - Trouble with Trouba

Jets Nation Podcast: Free Agency Recap
The Winnipeg Jets entered free agency with a splash! They freed up over $4 million in cap room by trading away Steve Mason, Joel Armia and two picks. They then were unable to use that cap space effectively on July first by losing the Paul Stastny sweepstakes. The Jets' only signing was AHL goalie Laurent Brossoit. Did the Jets get full value for their trade? Should they still try and target a big name free agent? All of this and more on this week's show.
