Stretch Run
NHL playoff races are heating up especially in the West with arguably 6 teams fighting for two Wild Card spots and the final spot in the Pacific division. The Jets are right in the thick of things with more games played than a lot of teams around them. Are they going to make it? Will they be able to catch Dallas for third in the Central? Players like Adam Lowry and Mathieu Perreault are returning from injury. Is this enough to get them in? The guys also look at the deadly spread of the Coronavirus and the impact it might have on the NHL heading down the stretch.

Connor for Byram?
The Winnipeg Jets have won four of their last five games and have moved back into a playoff spot. Does this hot play give them incentive to buy at the trade deadline? Do the Jets have any assets they could sell if the opportunity presents itself?
Rumours have circulated Winnipeg about the potential of a deal between the Avalanche and the Jets involving Kyle Connor and Bowen Byram. What would it take for a deal like this to happen? Who would win the trade?
Tonight's game against the Rangers is also the first one back for former Jet Jacob Trouba. What will the response be like? The guys look at these topics and more on this week's episode.

Who's the "Bad Guy"?
All reports seem to be indicating that the Winnipeg Jets are in the process of terminating the contract of their star defenceman Dustin Byfuglien. He would then become a UFA on the open market. There has been a lot of secrecy around his injury and on this week's episode the guys look at the situation, who appears to be the "bad guy", and where do the Winnipeg Jets go from here. The guys also discuss the All-Star break, the youthfulness of the team, and the upcoming trade deadline.

Is Maurice In The Hot Seat?
The Winnipeg Jets have found themselves in a nosedive as they drop down the standings. Heading into the All Star weekend they have lost four straight games and have dropped six of their last seven. They are now fifth in the Central Division and three points out of a playoff spot. The guys take a look at whether or not Paul Maurice is in the "Hot Seat", What's interesting about the All Star game, and whether broadcaster Kevin Sawyer's apology was enough.

Load Management
The Winnipeg Jets have played fairly well over their last few games but haven't always gotten the goaltending, calls from the refs, and the results they desired. Canada won gold at the World Juniors on the back of a heroic effort from injured captain Barrett Hayton. The guys look at the pro's and con's of playing through injuries and "load management". They also look at the return of Niku to the lineup.

Bold Predictions for 2020
The presents have been opened, the turkey has been eaten, the new year celebrated and now it's time to focus on hockey. The Jets Nation Podcast is happy to be back after an extended Christmas break! The Jets are still in a playoff spot and two of their players have been invited to the All-Star game. Winnipeg also has two players at the World Juniors, but unfortunately neither of them are on team Canada. The guys also make some bold predictions heading into 2020. The first episode of the new year is one you don't want to miss.

What Makes A Great Coach?
The Winnipeg Jets have been red hot over the last few weeks posting a record of 8-2-1. Despite the losses of Bryan Little, Mason Appleton and Gabriel Bourque the team keeps on rolling. Around the NHL some coaches have started to find themselves in the hot seat and Mike Babcock has been fired. On today's show the guys look at coaching styles and the question, "What makes a great coach"?

Top Line Breakup
The Winnipeg Jets have finally broken up Mark Sheifele and Blake Wheeler. The combination has been a staple on the top line for the Jets over the last couple of seasons, but with injuries and declining results a change was made. Does this make the top nine better? What still needs to be fixed? The guys also look at the improved play of Patrik Laine, and the controversial firing of Don Cherry.

Buff's In Hot Water
The Winnipeg Jets picked up five of a possible six points since the last podcast which has helped to keep spirits high among fans. The Jets haven't been blowing teams out, but have been winning some close ones. On today's show, the guys open up the mailbag and take some topics from Twitter. Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Injury Bug
It's been a quiet week for the Winnipeg Jets with just two games being played in the last seven days. One was the Heritage Classic in Regina, and the other in Anaheim last night. The Jets went 1-1 but have been bitten by the injury bug and were looking pretty desperate for able bodied players. What do they do next? Can they tread water while they wait for players to return? The guys break down all of that and more on this week's episode.

Magic Bullet Maurice
Paul Maurice has split up Scheifele and Wheeler! Where do the Jets go from here? They picked up a nice 1-0 win over Edmonton but then struggled against the lowly Kings. What was a strength of the team, the offence, has now let them down the last couple of games. Blake Wheeler hasn't been scoring at a pace consistent with the last couple of years. Should fans start to get worried? Does the addition of Luca Sbisa make a difference? Today Kyle Buhler is feeling under the weather, so local hockey fan Randy Lilley joins the show.

Do "Sellouts" Matter?
It's been an up and down stretch for the Winnipeg Jets. They won three straight before dropping the last two. Tuesday's game against Arizona was the first that wasn't a "sellout" since their return to Winnipeg in 2011. Should fans be worried? There have been some rumours about a return to the lineup for Dustin Byfuglien and Bryan Little. What kind of impact can they have on the lineup? You can find all of that and more on this week's episode.

The Season Is Here
NHL hockey is finally being played and the Winnipeg Jets are .500 after an opening four game road trip. No Dustin Byfuglien, no Josh Morrissey (for two games), yet somehow the team has done better than many expected. The Jets have been pleasantly surprised by the play of rookie Ville Heinola but on the other hand haven't been surprised with the overall defence at times in front of their net. What does this start say about the team? Who's stood out? The guys answer these questions and more on the first podcast of the season!

Off-Season Update
It's the busiest time of the year for off-ice NHL activity. The Winnipeg Jets have traded away an elite defenseman, have drafted what they hope could be an elite defenseman in the future and are now getting ready to spend money in free agency. Did they get enough for Trouba? Are the Winnipeg Jets going to be facing an offer sheet? How much can they sign Kyle Connor and Patrick Laine for? What type of player do they still need to acquire? Offseason Overview
After a brief playoff podcast break, the boys are back! The Stanley Cup has been handed out (Congratulations St. Louis) and now the NHL off season begins! The Winnipeg Jets are heading into what could arguably be their most difficult and influential offseason since arriving in Winnipeg. The Jets have key players needing contracts (Jacob Trouba, Patrick Laine, Kyle Connor, Andrew Copp...) and players with contracts that could be bought out (Dimitri Kulikov). The entry draft is coming up next week and free agency will open up on July 1st. What problem should the Jets tackle first? What should they do with Jacob Trouba? Find out on this week's episode.

Playoff Breakdown
Let the analysis begin! The Winnipeg Jets have been eliminated from the 2019 NHL Playoffs and start their off season early. The six game series with the St. Louis Blues had a bit of everything. The Jets struggled on home ice but then showed resiliency by winning two games on the road. The third period seemed to be a problem; why couldn't they hold on to a lead? How does a team go from the Western Conference final one season to being ousted in the first round the next? The guys look at what went wrong, what's next for the Jets, and what the second round of the playoffs will look like.

Cause for Concern
The Winnipeg Jets' last ten games has been a tale of two teams. For the first five, Winnipeg was beating tough opponents like Calgary and Nashville. In other hockey news the CWHL has announced it's folding and will not be playing next season. Where does this leave female hockey players, and what is the next step?

The Winnipeg Jets lost a heart-breaker to San Jose on Tuesday night 5-4. It was a comedy of errors on the final goal, but who is ultimately to blame? In the previous episode defense was the focus, this time the guys up front are put under the microscope. A lot of expectations were placed on the Jets this season. Are they living up to them? Defensive Difficulties
The push is on for the playoffs and with games tightening up the Winnipeg Jets are fighting for top spot in the Central Division. Just because moves were made doesn't mean they were all great. The guys break down the moves from a Winnipeg perspective and some of the major deals around the league. The Jets have been heavily linked in trade talks with the Ottawa Senators. Who are some other teams the Jets could call? Good Team, Bad Coach?
The Winnipeg Jets have won two games in a row and are tied for first in the Western Conference. Despite the success there are some concerns about the coaching of Paul Maurice. Is he making the right lineup decisions? Are the underlying metrics telling a terrifying tale? The guys look at whether Paul Maurice is a bad coach with good players or a good coach who is getting good production from his squad.
The trade deadline is looming and Winnipeg is on the hunt for a big piece heading into the playoffs. The Jets got a close look over the last few days at some players that are rumoured to be available: Mark Stone, Matt Duchene and Kevin Hayes. Would These players be a good fit? Would the price be too high?

Lack of Laine
The Winnipeg Jets have coming flying out of the NHL All Star break like a herd of turtles. The team struggled against the Flyers on Monday and then had issues against Boston but were able to pull out a victory. Patrick Laine is in a slump and his ice time has dropped. Are the Jets treating him fairly? What needs to be done? Exploiting Edmonton
The NHL All-Star weekend is almost here and honestly the game can be a bit of a snooze fest. Some players decline their invitations, and others play half-hearted with little motivation. There have been some positive changes in the last few years but what else can be done?
Despite having the best player in the NHL the Edmonton Oilers have been a disaster. They have traded away multiple assets for duds (I'm looking at you Ryan Spooner) and have signed some questionable contracts *cough* Lucic *cough*. What can the Winnipeg Jets learn from their mistakes? With the franchise in turmoil is there any way for the Jets to capitalize?

Goalie Controversy
At the halfway point of the NHL season the Winnipeg Jets are heating up. As a team they are right where many fans expected them to be. This has been a result of different parts of the lineup exceeding expectations. Laurent Brossoit has arguably been the biggest revelation, and many people have called for more ice time. Is there controversy in the crease? Should the starts get split equally? The guys look at some other overachievers and the acquisitions that could be made heading into the trade deadline.

Injury Implications
Since the Christmas break the injury bug has bitten the Winnipeg Jets. They have two key players out of the lineup for a considerable amount of time, Dustin Byfuglien and Nikolaj Ehlers. Does Tyler Myers step up and play better with more minutes? Is this an opportunity for Sami Niku? It also gives a number of forwards on the Jets an opportunity to play with the top pairing of Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler. Who will be the one to take that spot? The guys also wrap up the World Juniors and the All-Star nominations.
